Christianity EtcRe: The Second Coming: A Failed Prophecy??? by Ebi89(f): 1:43pm On Jul 26, 2015
Reiyvinn:
Being a Christian is really one hell of a job.

Aside the Church-bound duties required of "true" Christians (which are often quite inconvenient and demanding), one mustn't ignore the emotional, mental and psychological War that goes on in the mind of those one who are quite knowledgable or well versed with the Bible.

Trying hard to resist the doubts they tend to encounter is the order of the day for those who read wide and do lots of research in an aim to either justify or investigate their long-held faith. I was no exception.

Ranging from the bloodstained Old Testament to Scientific ludicrosities, Blatant absurdities to historical flaws, authenticities and many many more, I couldn't help giving Doubt a chance.

About this time last year, I wrote a piece here on Nairaland: Questions That Baffle Me About God May God give us more understanding of his word
and even though it never made frontpage, I'm glad it had the amount of audience it did.

Now I'm here with something quite troubling; something a logical mind should find really really disturbing.

I remember having a dialogue with a Pastor friend some weeks ago when he was on an outreach preaching about the Second Coming of Christ and why everyone should "mend their ways".

I can't quite remember his reaction when I asked "Don't you think this Jesus is taking too long? Are you sure he's coming at all?"

but I do remember him sarcastically replying me by saying "Uhmm.... Our Lord is warming up his whips for strongheads like you, so chill..."

Well, I chuckled. But then, I needed him to go into his Bible to see for himself why I asked such a question, so I directed him to Mark 13:30 which states:

". . .this generation will by no means pass away until these things happen. . ."
(with "these things" referring to the end time, tribulation and the Second Coming talked about in the preceding verses).

He laughed. "Cheap!" He said.

"You don't understand Greek so you wouldn't know" (hehehehe does he understand Greek? Well.... I wouldn't know either lol)

"The word 'generation' in Greek is 'genea' which Lexicons define as 'people of the same kind' so from Acts 11:26, we can tell whom these people are. They are Christians, which means Christ-like. So Christians will never pass away until the Son comes". He concluded.

That was amazing. Perfect wordplay. However, the context of this passage made it clear that it literally referred to those still alive at the time. He refused; holding still to his explanation. Then I took him to Matthew 16:28 which states:

"Truly I say to you that there are some of those standing here that will not taste death at all until they see the Son of man coming in His Kingdom."
(also found in Mark 9:1; Luke 9:27)

His face didn't look so bright afterwards even though he tried making me take his explanation for an answer and how I needed the Holy Spirit to understand certain passages and so on, it was obvious that he was well aware of these passages and the problems the pose and willingly ignored them for fear of doubt (I once did that too). So he never expected it to be used in a dialogue with him. He obviously didn't research on it the way he should have and that's the same thing most Christians do today. Their fear of doubt has amounted to their fear of knowledge and information and honestly, it's really unfortunate.

Now, back to the passage, we all know that everyone "standing [t]here" are now dead, buried and forgotten (that's assuming Jesus even existed)

So what does that make of the Second Coming? A Failed Prophecy or not?

Let's be honest with ourselves.

Thank you.

Kim Kardashian West really wanted a boy! Who wouldn't after having a cute daughter. i even wrote a post about it
Anyways the stars reportedly only had male embryos implanted during her IVF treatments. That's one way to put all your eggs in one basket!
A source shared:

"She only had boy embryos implanted."

and they spent roughly "$17,000" to pre-determine the sex. The procedure consists of doctors isolating fertilized embryos of the specified sex and transferring them to the uterus. This news is coming merely days after she confirmed on Instagram that she was expecting a baby boy.
But it seems that the morning sickness has been pretty brutal this time around. She made note on Twitter: Rough stuff!
We are waiting ton hear what they will name their unborn baby boy. Good luck to both of them..

Dapo777,see,your situation kinda like mine:I AM A STUDENT & MY PARENTS ARE SOOO RELIGIOUS.

Now,listen every body : menesheh,alfaseltzer et al:

Last week Wednesday, between 9-12 am,i was in the lecture theater(actually, lecture was slated for 10,but since i slept in the school-- doing some things on my just purchased laptop, i got there before 7.

Now, a nigga sat beside me.... We started from something(cant remember) and then to room mate issh. I told him: I LOVE BEING THE RULE MAKER OF MYSELF. I HATE GETTING TO MY ROOM & START GETTING QUERIED BY ONE BOY THAT IS MY ROOM MATE. I naturally dont like sharing room, not to talk of a stranger. So, i told him : i live alone OFF CAMPUS.

Later, he asked : 'so how is your relationship with God?'. I knew who he was and where he was going. I was happy because finally,i can test all the online arguments on A STRANGER. I told him verbatim : 'Me and GOD,We are cool. He does his & i do mine. We are not fighting & i laughed heartily. He started saying lubbish. Lol... I just sat and listened. My turn :
'YOU SEE, AS YOU SEE ME, I PREFER TO MEDITATE THAN TO PRAY(Meditate : think of positive thingz and relate them to my goals in life. Not Meditating as in _________). I continued : since u asked where we go after death, am telling u, WE GO NOWHERE. you die, you die, you decompose. If there were somewhere we go when we die, how did u know? How many senses do u have? I told him : Listen, in this lecture theater, do u believe ghosts are here that we can't see them, he said No. 'Therefore,we go nowhere'. He asked: why do we die then? I told him : 'IN MY OPINION, WE DIE BECAUSE OF IRREPARABLE ACCIDENT TO THE BODY and DUE TO WEAKENESS OF CELLS(consequently, tissues thus organs). I read years ago(true)about the research of a professor of microbiology that says : JUST LIKE A FIREPLACE,THE MORE YOU BURN WOOD, THE DARKER THE PLACE. THE MORE U USE WET WOODS, THE MORE THE SMOKE. Implies that : The more you CONSUME CARBOHYDRATES,THE WEAKER YOUR MITOCHONDRIA WEAKENS. THE MORE BAD FOOD(WET WOOD)YOU BURN, THE HIGHER THE RATE OF MAXIMUM DAMAGE.Therefore, we die because we probably had an accident that couldn't be treated/reversed by doctors or our cell weakens'

guys, believe me, THIS GUY FREED ME O. He couldnt bear the logical and provable proof that he had to just let me be. Dapo, let them attack you, just let them know your stand POLITELY. You dont have to flaunt : AM AN ATHEIST infront of every Tom, Dick and Harry. Just be tolerant. Since you don't believe in it & u dont want to be attacked, just shake it off, unless they confront you.

If i switch on my CHRISTIAN MODE : YOUT WONT BELIEVE AM AN ATHEIST. Just dnt sweat it and be careful. When i have sometin to do & they push religion to my face : I BEHAVE LIKE A PASTOR. I NOD MY HEAD AND HELP THEM QUOTE THEIR STORY BOOK CALLED BIBLE.

I am sure after Buhari's 8yrs in office, many others will consider Islam. By then, the air would have been cleared of ethnic and religious bigotism, terrorism, nepotism, unemployment and kwarruption. By then, they ld have known Islam to be a religion of peace and not a violent religion as pple with ulterior motives have made many to believe..

PoliticsRe: Borno Governor Attacks Jonathan, Seeks Amnesty For Boko Haram by Ebi89(f): 8:17am On May 30, 2015
zik4ever:
Newly sworn-in Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, on Friday said his new administration would, among other policies, pursue amnesty for members of Boko Haram who are ready to de-radicalise.

Mr. Shettima, who took an oath of office to serve for yet another four years alongside his deputy, Zannah Mustapha, said he would lobby the new federal government of President Muhammadu Buhari to consider granting amnesty to the militants.

Messrs Shettima and Mustapha were sworn in by the state’s chief judge, Kashim Zannah, at the Ramat Square, amidst tight security mounted by soldiers and police officers.

Mr. Shettima’s second inauguration, although low-key, was attended by guests from within and outside Nigeria.

The governor lamented the plight of the millions of Borno residents squatting at various camps of Internally Displaced Persons at the time he was being sworn-in.

Mr. Shettima said his next four years would be dedicated to rebuilding destroyed and lost communities and also pursuing policies that would create jobs and empower the youths.

“I do not intend to spoil the celebration mood today but I simply cannot ignore the fact that as we are gathered here, looking good and so full of excitement, thousands of our fellow sons and daughters of Borno, old and young, including babies that are few days old, are displaced in their own land and country,” he said.

He added that the sad tales of destructions and the faces of “our displaced sons, daughters, brothers and sisters,” told the true story of Borno today.

The governor, who described his swearing in as “a very special day in the long history of Borno”, said his second mandate was in recognition of the effort his administration made in the past four years, “to touch your lives in several areas of human endeavour”.

He acknowledged, however, that the last four years were certainly some of the most tragic and challenging in the thousand-year history of Borno.

“We have gone through the most savage insurgency of the Boko Haram sect, which massacred thousands of our people; especially destroying the cream of Borno youth and ensuring that into the next generation, we will be faced with a demographic crisis that will challenge our creative ingenuity, to overcome,” he said.

The governor said, in spite of all these, his government still managed to remain focused to build the “basic blocks of development, in agriculture, education and empowerment.”

“And we never for a moment abandoned our people,” Mr. Shettima said. “The people appreciated how we worked with sincerity, with commitment and always defending their best interests.”

Mr. Shettima lambasted the government of Goodluck Jonathan, referring to it as “a hostile Federal Government, which lived in denial about the savagery of Boko Haram and which also saw the insurgency from the most perverted, narrow and irresponsible prism, that somehow, the insurgency had been fuelled against it, by the political and other elites of this part of Nigeria.”

“They therefore did only the barest and most perfunctory, to stem the problem. Meanwhile, our people suffered and our communities were systematically laid to waste,” he said. “Democracy became the saving grace for the people.

“With our votes, we threw out a government at the centre, which did not work in the national interest and have now voted into power, President Muhammadu Buhari, who is also being inaugurated into power today in Abuja.”

Mr. Shettima said the people of Borno now have the opportunity to put their problems before a “listening president, who would be willing to assist us with utmost dispatch, to accelerate our development.”

He said in the next four years, he would need the support of all citizens in the quest to rebuild the devastated communities of Borno state.

He promised an all-inclusive “growth that would focus on reconciliation, rehabilitation and reconstruction – the three Rs.

He also reiterated his readiness to give members of Boko Haram a chance for amnesty.

“Unless we want to engage in an endless war of attrition that will be hallmarked by the continuing destruction of lives and property, it becomes imperative that willing members of the Boko Haram sect that want to come out of the bush must be given the opportunity to be de-radicalized and then rehabilitated to become useful citizens of society,” he said.

“It is never easy to accept back into the community, those who have taken up arms, killed, pillaged, raped and destroyed. But in the long run, society must make very expensive choices for peace, reconciliation and development. We are therefore appealing to the Federal Government of Nigeria and the International Community to assist our endeavour in that regard.”

That was how I went to a wedding reception with my Aunty, everything was moving fine and the music was awesome, we were all happy and took pictures with the couple, I took selfies with my Aunty too, her name is Mummy B, she is fat, not too fat, I love her so much.. the event was moving fine, but when they started sharing the rice, Mummy B sent me on an errand, to go withdraw some money with her ATM card in a no nearby bank, before I could return, they have finished sharing the jolly rice, I asked Mummy B if she reserved some for me, she said "ahh, Canada ure a big boy, don't tell me u still eat jolly rice at ceremonies", as she was crushing the 2nd chicken lap, supposedly mine. I calmly gave her the money and ATM card and salivated out of the event venue with a teardrop on my chin, I later found out she ate mine, I didn't talk to her for 1whole week. Buh we've reconciled. I still love my Aunty Mummy B.
