We’ve been on the road for almost 80 days, stress levels are high, meaning everyone is a little more irritable, meaning the tendency to want to smack someone is higher. angry

We've made a list of a few things that have gone wrong on the trip so far. Things upsetting enough to change the trip status to "Enroute Nigeria".

From falling ill to Toke's incident and most recently, Tosin being physically assaulted by the security at a government office in Dakar.

Read yesterday's journal: https://jollofroad.zikoko.com/these-are-the-times-this-whole-thing-almost-went-south/

Programming / Re: Web Development: How Much Will It Cost To Learn? by ebiboy2(m): 9:25am On Nov 26, 2019
Richnero99:
Good day, guys,

Having saved up some amount of money, I am considering quitting my job and getting acquainted with an IT skill.

There is this friend of mine, who is a Web designer, developer, programmer and even a graphic designer; the guy is quite good (he started learning all these from a very young age).

When I contacted him and asked him to teach me Web development, he said OK, but his fee is 120k for three months. I opened my mouth in shock.

Well, long story short, I negotiated, and he finally cut down the price to 80k saying it's because we are friends. He said he would be teaching me Css, Html, Javascript and NodeJs. I don't know Jack about all of that, I have only built sites with WordPress, but I feel the price is still too high.

Are there cheaper options for me or should I just go with him?
Op to be candid, you need time (I mean lots of it).
Forget all these "learn it yourself" advises you are getting, I am telling you from experience, if you don't have a go-to person to always seek help from, it would take you a very long time to become a good programmer (na so so trial and error you go dey do plus you won't know best practices from self-learning).
You have to know what works best for you but I believe you will eventually spend more than 80k to perfect your skills should you choose to self learn. In as much as online learning is good, it can never equate to having a guide. Just, ensure your friend isn't a busy person if you choose for him to train you. I don't know how someone can possibly devote as much time as 3 months to coach someone else, especially if he has lots of jobs to deliver.
Good luck to you OP.

I can say that freelancing and affiliate marketing are by far, the best ways to earning passive income online. I know my background and how far I've come and so i know what i'm saying. In fact, it is amazing at what things you can achieve within a short time.
If you are interested, you can begin by learning python and then PHP. You can add C++ and Java to your arsenal much later.
It is totally possible to learn web development in 6 months if you are dedicated.
If you can, enroll in any good ITC school. But if you don't have the privilege of time and the luxury of money, you can go on youtube and search for "FULL PYTHON TUTORIALS FOR BEGINNERS" (you can always replace the PYTHON with any language of choice).

The opportunities are just endless and i must say that Nigerians are cutting a path for themselves. I have personally worked on a wide range of jobs including but not limited to blockchain projects with go lang, PHP projects (plugins and core APIs mostly), console applications, UI/UX (plenty plenty) and have earned huge cash so it is a reality.

STOP CALLING CRIMINALS AVENGERS

Contrary to local news that Nigeria Navy has arrested Niger Delta Avengers logistics supplier is the biggest joker of the 21st century. As it now any Tom, Dick and Harry is a suspect of Niger Delta avengers. Nigeria Navy has lost the sense of professionalism.
The Nigeria military arrested school students in Oporoza and called them the Niger Delta Avengers, any criminal caught is NDA, ever their Business partners (Illegal Oil bunkers) with which things went south are NDA, Sea pirates are now NDA.
When Niger Delta Avengers carries out any major attack they (Nigeria Military) will deny it. First was the NNPC pipeline that was blown, second the 48-inches Exxonmobil pipeline that was blown by NDA. Mobil and the Government denied it. Only for Exxonmobil to declare false majeure few days after the attack. We want the general public to know the Qua Iboe export pipeline is down right now.
Let me give a little brief about the Qua Iboe Export terminal. This is a subsidiary of Mobile and it the biggest export stream in Nigeria. They export ONE MILLION barrel every two days.
I Brig. Gen Agbinibo personally led this operation. Unlike the Nigeria Chief of Naval Staff that sit in the comfort of his office to pass orders.

The Nigeria Military should stop deceiving the general public and their commander in Chief. They should come out with the truth in Akwa Ibom instead of saying Niger Delta Avengers didn’t blow up thr line but system anomaly. Shame on the Nigeria Military.
Reports from our intelligent agent, the only way funds can be allocated to various department of the Military is only when they (Nigeria Military) arrest the Niger Delta Avengers operatives. But soonest the Nigeria public and their commander in Chief will now the Military is not capable to handle the Niger Delta Avengers.
How do you explain a military officer having a house in choice areas in Nigeria and outside the country? Nigeria serving and retired top officers are the richest people in Nigeria. How do they get such wealth? Right now, they are using Niger Delta Avengers to fraud the Nigeria government and tax payers of their money.
We want to make this clear, all Niger Delta Avengers operatives are intact, our intelligent agencies are all intact and our operative team are in high spirit because we are winning the war. Nigeria Navy can’t arrest any of our operative until we bring down the economy of this country.
We are warning Nupeng and Pengassan to leave all oil field and terminals in the Niger delta because it will be going to be dirty very soon. Foreigners are to leave too.

These NDA guys appears far too organized and articulated than most of us might have thought of them. Honestly if they continue on d path of not killing innocent people and 'sleeping' soldiers, their goodwill will geometrically increase and with d synergy from d truth that abound in Radio Byaph.ra, I see d FG making more mistakes. They even promised to help d Army deal with d arsonists. The earlier d govt understands DAT Nnamdi Kalu had gathered tremendous sympathy from across d devide, d quicker any meaningful resolution but d longer d incarceration continues d more d likely economic sabotage looms higher than life.
exactly my thoughts. Buhari should release Nnamdi Kanu and find means to address the grievances. in fact, the country is as good as dead and gone.

Its high time the powers that be stepped into the Nigerian issue.
It is now clear that the oppressed can not take it any more. They have had enough of the nonsense they are constantly being fed with.

To those who want to tag NDA terrorists, your greatest fear and nightmare is already here.

To the president of the contraption, release Nnamdi Kanu. He has not said anything worse than what you have said for the past 6 years.

Kudos to all those fighting evil and tyranny.
At the end, we will win.

The Niger Delta Avengers have distanced themselves from the attack on the Military houseboat. Says killing of sleeping soldiers is not their style.
This came in following various media reports that the Niger delta avengers launched an attack on a military houseboat yesterday.

The Niger Delta Avengers were not involved in the attack of the Military houseboat around Warri, Delta State. Killing of sleeping Soldiers is not our
style. We promise the world that in this Process of liberating our People, not a single blood of Nigeria soldiers will be wasted despite the
provocation.
Even the Inhumane Nigeria soldiers are exempted, our war is on Oil installations not to take innocent lives. For the fact we can’t give Life, we also
don’t have the power to take any life. But we (Avengers) are assuring the Families of the affected soldiers that we will bring the culprits to book.
When it’s time to face the military in combat let the whole world know that we won’t be the ones to throw the first punch.
This message is going to all groups parading themselves as freedom fighters. You can fight for your people without killing innocent souls NDA have
proved it. we were able to drop Nigeria Oil production from 2million Barrels to just 800,000 barrels without killing a soul.
We are warning every group to follow our footsteps. The days of Killing and Kidnapping are over.

Believe it or not Nigeria will still remain. It is settled forever. God has made it to be so. The map of Nigeria is like a trigger firing bullet to the whole world. It is the seat of revival where missionaries are sent all over the world.
You may say it is a lie but it is happening already, many nations are already experiencing the touch of God through some notable men of God from Nigeria.

The truth is God has an agenda for this country. The agenda is unfolding gradually, it may tarry but it will surely come to past.

God bless Nigeria.

God2man.
it is so unfortunate that you bring God into this matter. I wouldn't know why. maybe you are afraid of the obvious eventualities should nigeria break up. lemme tell you, you should make out time to read your Bible more and ask to hear directly from God. these men of God (in quote) are living a lie and sadly, gullible folks like you fall victim to their fair speeches.
the first truth you can tell yourself is REALITY. so stop hiding behind church and/or religion as a means to mask your fears. God hates evil.
