When next we talk about electoral amendment laws which should be somewhere in the very near future, it is important that we look at two issues for the purpose of fairness and justice: 1. The practice of double nomination by aspirants under any guise should be made illegal. In 2019, Aminu Tambuwal returned to his state to become governor after contesting in the presidential primaries. Senator Rochas did the same thing in 2015. The likes of Saraki and Kwankwaso would have been in the senate now if they had won in the 2019 elections, yet they contested in the presidential primaries of the same election. This practice is bias, and anything that in the end will trounce justice, equity and fairness is undemocratic since these are some of the important principles on which democracy ought to be built. 2. Consensus arrangement as a mode of conducting election primaries by political parties should be deleted from the electoral laws we already have. It would have been a very good method but the challenge here is that It will always be political gladiators and party bigwigs that eventually determine the candidates for various positions. We cannot guarantee equity and fairness knowing how most of our leaders are only self-serving. And if the final decision rests on the palm of the aforementioned group, then power may not be returned to the people as should be in a democracy. I believe you now understand why most of the "party big men" are talking about consensus. I'll rest my case here. |

Don't get it twisted. Senator Kwankwaso is a man I used to admire as long as Nigerian politics is concerned. Being a strong man and one of the intra-party presidential candidates during the build up to the last general elections, man has been very much away after the general elections. |

We are just about 10 years and a few months away from 2030 and these are few examples of how fast the rest of the world is moving: >> The new 2020 sonata hybrid model produced by Hyundai has a solar roof. What that means is that you can alternate between fuel and solar as sources of energy for that car. Further modifications could see newer models run completely on solar energy. >> There is a new legislation in France that stipulates that all newly constructed (especially residential) buildings should be roofed with sheets that have been designed to also serve as solar panels. >> China is designing a transparent glass window that would also serve as solar panel. >> The UK authorities have directed that newly constructed (mainly residential) buildings should have Electric Vehicle Chargers (EVC). Many developed countries have shown not just their intentions but commitment to attain and utilize 100 percent clean/renewable/sustainable energy in all sectors. This essentially means that the number of big spenders on Nigeria's oil will drop drastically with time and that would be really bad especially since Nigeria as a country is reluctant to move away from oil. Obviously, there is neither a serious plan nor commitment by the Nigerian government and top players in the Nigerian society to use our oil resources to develop our non-oil resources. It is disturbing I must confess. Time is of the essence and right now, there's not much time in our hands as a country if we must survive in the near future and on. |

Before the high magnitude earthquake that hit Hiroshima, Japan in 2011, Japan was the super power of Asia. As a result of the disaster, the country counted its losses in hundreds of billions of dollars. During that period, China overtook them and became not only the super power of Asia but also a world super power. About 8 years later, Japan is yet to overtake China. What this implies is that either China improved on what Japan was doing or they developed their own models which have kept them flying. Mr Peter Obi admires China especially for their exponential rate of economic growth and development. He likes to go to China to borrow ideas and not money. Currently, Nigeria is indebted to China to a tune of about $5 billion. How would you feel if you woke up one morning and heard that China has taken over major installations in southern Nigeria just like they have taken over all the Ports in Kenya for their inability to pay off their loans within the agreed time frame. The government of the day has shown that more than any other means of generating income, they love borrowing and it doesn't matter to them if the future of Nigeria is being threatened by their ineptitude. Vote ATIKU/OBI for economic prosperity. Their economic policies are clear cut and seeks to protect the future of Nigeria. #LetsGetNigeriaWorkingAgain.

ATTITUDE: Let The Change Begin With You. Sometime ago, I had conducted a private interview with fellow students both far and near. Even though many of them admitted to being entitled to free medical services, they often shy away from their medical centres due to either a rude or repulsive attitude from medical personnel. Today, I think I met the right set of personnel at my school Medical Center, starting with the nurses who checked my blood pressure and body temperature to the doctor and lastly the pharmacist who had an atmosphere of calmness around her. Interestingly, one of the nurses kept calling me her son. It may have meant little or nothing to an outsider but to me, it made me feel more comfortable. I felt at ease and even though they kept dishing out pieces of advice I was already familiar with, it seemed like I was hearing them for the first time and somehow I unconsciously made promises to abide by these pieces of advice. Psychologically, I was already feeling better and all that's left is for my body to do same. The more conditions of survival get worse, the more people would get burdened and perhaps overwhelmed by negativity. However, your attitude towards people could be the real cure they need at certain times. Let the change begin with you. |

Drug abuse: Save Yourself! Most of us think we're not guilty of the problem of drug abuse because we look at it from just one angle. Truth of the matter is that many of us who don't take substances such as cocaine and the likes are still as guilty as the people who take them. This other perspective is that of self medication. Some of us have become doctors to ourselves, neighbors and loved ones without having a formal knowledge of Medicine. We act based on what we think we know but that is so wrong and very dangerous. Here are things the medical practitioner may not take time to tell you: 1. In drug prescription, body weight is considered ahead of your age. 2. A particular dosage is potent enough to take out the disease. Less will only quell the sickness for a short while, more will lead to overdose. 3. Chemical drugs are also toxic substances. Apart from the fact that they aid in curing sickness, they also pose their own threats. 4. If an overdose doesn't kill a person, an organ may become its target site. Trust me, you don't want to live a life in which you are having an organ failure. 5. You shouldn't take drugs with too cold or hot water. Temperature influences/ alters some chemical reactions and you don't need the drug to have a different type of reaction from what it was designed for. As much as possible, avoid taking drugs. Take them only when it's necessary. Maintain personal hygiene and always keep your environment clean. Be mindful of the water you drink and the food you eat. You are part of the environment, be a good advocate. #From_The_Desk_Of_An_Environmentalist |

We are living in a world with too many problems and far too few answers. Many millions regularly go hungry. Increasing numbers are addicted to drugs. More and more families are breaking up. Incest and family violence are constantly on the news. The air we breathe and the water we drink are slowly being poisoned. Meanwhile, more and more of us are being victimized by crime. Do you think problems like these will ever be solved? |

I stumbled upon this and decided to share with some of us here who enjoy reading other stuff outside our disciplines... A volcano is the rupture or perforations in the earth's crust which allows lava, volcanic ash and other gases escape to the earth surface. The process mainly associated with this phenomenon is called VOLCANIC ERUPTION. 1. A volcano is a mountain that opens downward to a pool of molten rock below the surface of the earth. When pressure builds up, eruptions occur. 2. In an eruption, gases and rock shoot up through the opening and spill over or fill the air with lava fragments. Eruptions can cause lava flows, hot ash flows, mudslides, avalanches, falling ash and floods. 3. The danger area around a volcano covers about a 20-mile radius. 4. Fresh volcanic ash, made of pulverized rock, can be harsh, acidic, gritty, glassy and smelly. The ash can cause damage to the lungs of older people, babies and people with respiratory problems. 5. Volcanic lightning occurs mostly within the cloud of ash during an eruption, and is created by the friction of the ash rushing to the surface. Roughly 200 accounts of this lightning have been witnessed live. 6. An erupting volcano can trigger tsunamis, flash floods, earthquakes, mudflows and rockfalls. 7. More than 80% of the earth's surface is volcanic in origin. The sea floor and some mountains were formed by countless volcanic eruptions. Gaseous emissions from volcano formed the earth's atmosphere. 8. There are more than 500 active volcanoes in the world. More than half of these volcanoes are part of the "Ring of Fire," a region that encircles the Pacific Ocean. 9. Active volcanoes in the U.S. are found mainly in Hawaii, Alaska, California, Oregon and Washington, but the greatest chance of eruptions near areas where many people live is in Hawaii and Alaska. 10. The sound of an erupting volcano can be quiet and hissing or explosive and booming. The loud cracks travel hundreds of miles and do the most damage, including hearing loss and broken glass. 11. The most deadly eruptions have occurred in Indonesia, with tens of thousands of lives lost to starvation, tsunami (as a result of the eruption), ash flows, and mudflows. |

It is now a very popular news that H.E. Wike donated a huge sum of 200million Naira to Benue State as a way of offering support to the people who need all the support they can get. This fit has been applauded by many and also condemned by many with most of the critics hauling insults at Wike and His Government in the process. We have freedom of expression and we are also entitled to our various opinions on any matter that arises. A closer look at reasons for these criticisms and you'll see complaints like: Rivers State has its problems, Wike runs to far away Benue State to donate money, also that the man Wike is just playing politics. Let us go back in history of the Bible where Jesus turned water into wine in a wedding. It is recorded that the wine turned out to be the best. Jesus Christ had a Mom and an earthly family. He would have kept turning water into the best wines obtainable then so His Mom could sell and get excessively rich but did He? He had the power to turn things around but, His family was not even the wealthiest then. This goes to show that everything cannot always be perfect. I used the above instance because most people condemning the act are Rivers State APC members who are also mostly Christians. Rivers State has its own problems which is true, but do you have to solve all your own problems before reaching out to others? How then do they shout "One Nigeria" and still go ahead to condemn a wonderful act that will strengthen the idea of one Nigeria. This is pure hypocrisy. They also claimed the Man Wike is playing politics with the whole issue so I ask: why is the FG not also playing politics by arresting the situation quickly through the security agencies, provide relief materials, introduce rehabilitation and resettle displaced people? The FG has abandoned Benue people when they need all the help they can get and that is the sad reality. God bless H. E. Wike, God bless Rivers State, God bless Nigeria. 1 Like |

TheCabal:That is not the major problem. The question is, who signed the treaty? |
![]() |
While this is an impending problem for the rest of the world, it can be a solution for Africa. I believe that Africa is a continent with great potentials in both human and mineral resources and the land is green. Through sustainable agriculture, Africa can help the world avert the catastrophe that might take place. Africa can contribute significantly to feeding the world and directly redefine its economy. Sadly, most of our leaders are only interested in winning the next election.

Nnamdi Azikiwe was born in 1904(was 10years old when the 1914 treaty was signed) Obafemi Awolowo was born in 1909(was 5years old when the 1914 treaty was signed) Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was born in 1912(was 2years old before it was signed) Ahmadu Bello was born in 1910(was 4years old before it was signed) Michael Okpara was born in 1920(the treaty has been signed 6years before he was born) Who and who signed these papers in 1914 and called it amalgamation of the Northern Region and Southern Region, that we shall live together as one family without War, Marginalization, Conflict of interest and crisis? These Nationalists I mentioned above are still sucking breast at the time of this agreement. You can't mix Red Oil and Palm kernel Oil together to get a good result. You can't play Jazz and Etigi or skelewu in the club house at the same time and expect a good dance. Is it that we are learning how to spell Democracy in our country or the teacher does not know how to teach? Our problems started in 1914 because we don't know who signed it and there names and there intentions for signing it. If the so called imperialists white signed it in the midnight while we were sleeping, the cock has crowed, we have brushed our teeth, and taken our bath. Our eyes have opened to look for the amalgamation treaty and do something about it. No Northerner can sleep with his eyes closed in the Southern part of Nigeria and no Southerner can do the same in the North. Inter marriage is a Taboo. After 100years we are still importing toothpicks, going abroad for medical checkup, our lucrative cash crops has gone to moribund, Education for all by the year 2050, Unemployment is a baptismal name for graduates, a police officer cannot boast of his work because of vestige of his salary, our Obasanjo Space Center and Satellite Office at Airport Road Lugbe Abuja can not trace the location of Sambisa Forest. And I repeat it again, who and who signed this treaty? ........................... |
