INTRIGUING, MIND BLOWING ADDRESS BY THE RESILIENT & BRAVE GOVERNOR OF RIVERS STATE, HIS EXCELLENCY, EZEBUNWON NYESOM WIKE: My dear people of Rivers State, We wish to most sincerely thank you all for your enthusiasm and participation in the just concluded re-run legislative elections in the State despite the many troubles you had to go through before and during the elections. 2. We appreciate you all for your courage and determined effort to defend your votes and ensure that you exercise your democratic rights to freely elect your representatives at the National and State Assemblies in the face of the malicious intimidation and obvious threat to your personal security. 3. We know that most of you are clearly unhappy with the manner the election process was brazenly maneuvered with federal might to undeservedly return some candidates at all cost, but we still have to thank God Almighty and give Him the glory for the outcome, because it could have been far worse. 4. They ignored us when we drew their attention to the persistent abuse of public office by Mr. Stephen Hasso, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of operations and CSP Akin Fakorede, the Commander, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), and the threat they posed to the peaceful conduct of the re-run elections. 5. They accused us of raising unnecessary alarms when we cried aloud over their devilish plans to use the federally-controlled SARS to disenfranchise our people and manipulate the re-run election process towards achieving some pre-arranged outcomes against the will of the people. 6. Today, we have clearly and eloquently been vindicated. Despite the unprecedented deployment of over 28,000 police personnel, three helicopters and 20 gun boats for the re-run elections, we all witnessed how Stephen Hasso, Akin Fakorede and their gang of marauders took direct and complete control of the election process from INEC in the Rivers South-East Senatorial District, as well as in Ikwerre, Emouha and Port Harcourt Local Government Areas, and left unimaginable trails of mayhem, shootings, maiming and killing of innocent people. 7. Indeed, never in our history have Rivers people been so physically, mentally and psychologically brutalized, traumatized and denied their rights to freely and fairly elect our leaders by shameless gangs of hired, power-drunk, trigger-happy and irresponsible security officers and their political collaborators. 8. Unfortunately, the brazen subversion of our democratic rights that took place on the 10th of December 2016, was carefully planned and orchestrated by some highly-placed and desperate politicians from the State in concert with the Governors of Bauchi, Benue, Kano and Plateau States, who reportedly bankrolled the plan with the sum of one billion naira each, at a time they cannot pay salaries of civil servants, let alone embark on development projects in their States. 9. If Rivers people could be visited with such a despicably high degree of violence, mayhem and killings by some renegade military and SARS operatives with impunity just to rescue the dying political fortunes of the All Peoples Congress in a mere legislative re-run elections, then we can now begin to imagine what is likely to happen in the State when the political stakes would be very much higher in 2019. 10. Nigeria often prides itself as a beacon of democracy and quickly congratulates other African countries for successful democratic elections and political transitions. Yet, the painful irony is that we are still unable to guarantee the minimum rights of our citizens to free, fair and credible electoral processes at home. What a shame!! 11. We most sincerely sympathize with the families of all those that were deliberately and coldly murdered by the SARS operatives during the ill-fated re-run elections in the State and pray for the peaceful repose of their innocent souls. 12. Information available to us indicate that CSP Mr. Akin Fakorede, who was caught on camera physically brutalizing a female electoral officer is currently being debriefed by the police high command in Abuja. However, we do not have confidence in what they are doing neither do we expect that the victims of Mr. Akin’s brutality will ever get justice from the police authorities given the levity with which they treated and bungled the case against those that were arrested in Port Harcourt while printing results sheets with which to rig the re-run elections. 13. Once again, we thank you all for your unflinching support and love, and most especially, our revered religious leaders, for your sacrifice, fasting and continuous prayers, which were unquestionably responsible for the prevailing peace, security and progress in the State. 14. We wish to assure you of our continued reverence and readiness to partner with the Church and the people of God to defend our God-given rights and freedoms and move the State forward at any cost. 15. Thank you so very much and may God continue to bless our dear Rivers State. |
So some human beings get mind carry this thread for head come dey wash dirty linen for public? And you say Nigeria will be better?? |
Panoply:Thank you |
Jennykele:FUTO is not UNN |
Jennykele:Already, about #6,000 is in the school fees for ICT services.......go to FUTO ICT to do anything and you are charged a minimum of 2k. If you're faced with that.......will you like to pay for Wi-Fi? |
favexx:So you sef dey do that kind thing? |
Ovokoo:And also another sum of #5,000 for free transportation according to them, making it a total of #13,000. |
I as an individual have a 100% support for technological advancement but things have to be done at the right time and in the right way! At this point in time, what exactly does FUTO students need? The school management is well aware what students pass through standing on long queues just to perform one simple transaction or the other at the bank being that there is the presence of only one bank (Diamond bank) in the whole of Federal University Of Technology, 0werri. Instead of thinking of bringing in more banks of which I know so many are willing to come into FUTO to reduce the stress on students and some other lecturers who patronise the bank, they are only interested in bringing WiFi into FUTO. Though WiFi isn't a bad idea for me if I may say but that shouldn't be the best idea for students at this time. Some students do not even have the phones that can make use of WiFi of while others prefer their one thousand naira (#1,000) monthly subscription which they trust more than paying the sum of eight thousand naira (#8,000) for something they may end up not making using of throughout their stay in the FUTO community. FUTO students say *NO* to the increase of their school fees, FUTO students say *NO* to the introduction of WiFi if it should be the cause for the increment." While we are busy struggling with the recession, there is no need of increasing the school fees because of WiFi. Some students miss their exams on many occasions because they couldn't pay their school fees so why the increase? This is just like 'adding more burdens to the already exhausted person.' The Federal Government of Nigeria also has to look into this matter and also do something about the regulation of the amount of school fees being paid by students of educational institutions owned by the Federal Government. |
Mods please move this to the right section if this place isn't the right section for this thread.... It was saturday morning, I had taken my bath and was hurriedly dressing up because I was almost late for church service. Then, I remembered I actually had no pen to write with in church and going to search for one isn't what I had time for at that moment. There was my 5-year old niece already dressed, seated and staring into space with her face displaying many colours (obviously she was not in her normal cheerful mood). But then, I remembered she keeps many a pen than you and I. I asked her to give me one pen that I'll return it to her after church service. With her face still frowned and without uttering a word, she open her little bag and stretched forth one pen in my direction. I stretch forth my hand to take it but then I paused... Asked her why her face was frowned and she gave the usual reply: "nothing" with the pen still stretched towards me. I insisted that if she didn't tell me what was wrong, I wouldn't accept her pen and because she wanted me to make use of her pen she simply told me why her face wasn't in its normal cheerful state. I accepted her pen and encouraged her to wear a smile which she did shortly.... An adult or a grown up, if at all in his/her uncheerful state, decided to give me a pen and I refused to accept because their face was frowned or because I wanted to know what's wrong, they'll easily give a sigh and put the pen back into the bag because they probably think they're losing two things by giving a pen and wearing a smile but no! My little niece actually gained two things by giving me her pen and wearing her usual lovely smile afterwards. Be Childlike and not childish! #HappySabbath |

Hello ladies and gentlemen, this has been an issue on my mind for sometime now. I've always known sunday to be the first day of the week and saturday to be the seventh day of the week and according to the holy bible, God rested on the seventh day after His work of creation for six days. Over time, I've heard preachers say sunday is the sabbath day while there are churches who actually worship on saturdays and claim it to be the ideal sabbath day. I need your ideas and thoughts with reasons on which day you think is the ideal sabbath day. |
Is Nigeria worth celebrating @ 56 with not much to show for it? A lot of people might have that question running through their minds... You can celebrate an unknown future with faith. You can have hope and throw away despair. You can walk freely atleast around a larger part of the country, you're alive and you also have the chance to build and help make Nigeria grow. You must not let the bad that has happend in the past alter your love for your country but you can celebrate for a brighter future! Nigeria belongs to You and I and yes! We'll get there!! #Nigeria@56 |
DesChyko:Thank you |

RIVERS APC: We are not ready for 6th February rerun elections! " It is time to rebuild the party. Unfortunately for us, we never had any plan to buffer the effect of this decision by the Supreme Court. The party is somewhat directionless at the moment, and it will take time for us to bounce back. Therefore, INEC wasn't fair to the APC to have fixed 6th February for the rerun elections. The time is too short for us to plan. Our supporters are disillusioned and traumatized, more so, in the face of paucity of funds for any election. We are simply not ready " --Mr. Oji Ngofa, ( APC National Deputy Secretary) |
Mjshexy:What computerized schools? Don't say what you don't know |
Funny analysis! So Wike will watch them rig the election? Someone who gave GEJ the highest number of votes in the south and still won by a very large margin? I mean, how do you people even think?? |
lordcabasa: God bless you! |
