Be humble and apologise for voting in error instead of justifying the content of what u voted. The fact that the prescribed age for marriage was not specified n within the context of senator Yerima's argument on the issue before voting you should have known better that a trap was set for people like u who only consider d content of a constitional provision without considering the context n wider implication. The question then is why was it that u were d only senator from the south west that voted that way?...the best is to just say sorry 4 voting in error or ignorance. |
Terrible dimension! |
thelastPope: You are not only a foool, you are also a traitor. You forgot to mention Kogi states where there are more christians than Muslims. That is why it's impossible 2 have both the Gov n d Deputy being muslims unlike in d case in states where muslims dominate like Borno,Katsina,Kano,Jigawa etc. Truth is core notherner i.e d Hausa/Fulani muslims will find it difficult 2 become president of dis country in d near future cos d BH madness has worsen their case...in fact going by d emerging political realities n dynamics, they r actually d minority now...d support of d so calld christian minorities in d north they use to take 4 granted has bn lost n this was evident in d result of 2011 election which GEJ won in many northern states. The earlier those who argue blindly wake up to this reality n toe the line of peace the better 4 them! |
kross_01: To think some people are actually talking about amnesty for boko haram is funny. Now lets consider the issues, MEND they said committed crimes against state & wia granted amnesty by the FG, now BH are committing crimes against humanity & you want same amnesty for them? How is blowing up pipelines & blowing up people in churches & bus terminals the same case? Well grant amnesty to them no qualms but that definitely is just but a temporary solution, cos another group will surely rise up sooner or laterin fact destroyed pipelines can be replaced but can the live BH have wasted ova d yrs be replaced...there's no logical n plausible basis for comparisn b/w MEND n BH |
No amnesty for faceless terrorist...the two statements are essentially the same. These BH guys are like Oliver Twist...which of their demands will they drop for the amnesty n how r we sure they will not renege after the amnesty?...again d difference btween BH n Niger Delta Militant is like day n nyt...e.g how many unprovoked n senseless attack on civilian population or place of worship did d militants carry out; none...so people lyk Tinubu who justify amnesty for BH on basis of d one earlier granted Militants r poor in comparative analysis or study or they know d truth but say wot they say for political expediency! |
bayooooooo: They have already destroyed his administration. Too late for himHis problems are not his advisers on this issue but those who vowed 2 make the country ungovervanable for him who are all out to actualise their threat without realising that in the final analysis it's their own region that is suffering cos other parts of d country, including the south south wia GEJ comes from continue to dev while the north continues 2 sink further into state of hopelessness n underdevelopment! |
so sad! |
The bomb laden vehicle was shown yesterday on NTA network news (9PM)with better details than what was given here. the doubting Thomas who are asking for picture of the car as evidence are encouraged to be current by watching news to avoid making uninformed comments! |
One is fed up with various Igbo groups grandstanding and bluffing. Many unreported killings of their kinsmen occur vitually daily in Maiduguri and nobody is saying anything and all they do is to issue ineffective threats. |
The question is what is the relevance of the STF in this state. Shouldn't they have seen this coming in the light of recent and previous attacks? |
AIT is reporting fresh attacks today (Tuesday) in two villages in Plateau state with scores killed. |
It's a big shame on the JTF that killings like this one keep occurring during curfew hours in Maiduguri. And for the doubting Thomas here, obviously the culprits are not in doubt, get better details below; Suspected militants of Nigeria's radical group Boko Haram have killed nine construction workers in the country's northern city of Maiduguri, the anti-terrorism military unit said. The nine workers were working at the Shehu of Borno Central Mosque when they were attacked by suspected members of the sect early yesterday, Lt Col Sagir Musa, spokesman of Joint Task Force (JTF) said in a statement. Musa said that when the JTF troops rushed to the area they saw the dead bodies, which they then deposited at the mortuary of the Borno State Specialist Hospital. No arrest has yet been made, even as efforts to apprehend the culprits have been intensified. The sect which detests Western education, plans to establish an Islamic caliphate independent of the Nigerian state. It has killed hundreds of people in suicide attacks, bombings and drive-by shootings in northern Nigeria since it started insurgency in 2009. http://www.business-standard.com/generalnews/news/boko-haram-kills-9-construction-workers-in-northern-nigeria/27569/ |

Again? Didn't the President promise that blasts would become a thing of the past by June? He has obviously failed to meet this self-set target. Nigeria![/quote Let us for once blame the perpetrators and the inexplicable ideology behind these bombing and let the President be. Curtailing suicide bombing is not easy. |
very sad news,we now live in a Hobb's state of nature. more detail below; Suspected Boko Haram Adherents Gun Down Seven Christian Traders By thewillnigeria.com BORNO, April 04, (THEWILL) - Gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram terror group on Wednesday killed seven Christian traders at the popular Monday Market in Maiduguri, Borno State. The Islamists arrived at the market, the biggest in the state, at about 2pm, and headed straight to the section occupied by Christian Igbo merchants, who were busy displaying their wares and trying to attract customers. According to an eyewitness, the gangsters opened fire at eight people, all of whom immediately died. All seven were reported to be Christians. The eight trader, simply identified as Taju, was the only Muslim. A police official who spoke anonymously to THEWILL confirmed the killings. “Seven Christians were shot dead,” he said. “The only Muslim who died is Taju by name; he works as a television and radio technician. So, eight people died in all.” In a telephone interview with THEWILL, spokesman of the Police in Borno State, Samuel Tizhe also confirmed the incident. “I can confirm to you that seven traders were shot dead today by gunmen suspected to be members of the boko haram. Three other civilians also sustained injury during the attack at Monday Market,” he said. “The situation is now calm, as we have reinforced security in and around the state.” http://www.thenigerianvoice.com/nvnews/86832/1/suspected-boko-haram-adherents-gun-down-seven-chri.html |
It appears the group is finally justifying its most popular name-Boko Haram |
Nigeria school set alight in Maiduguri A primary school has been attacked in the north-eastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri. Classrooms were set on fire overnight - the second non-denominational school to be targeted this week. Reporters say it bears the hallmarks of an attack by the Islamist Boko Haram group, which has recently threatened to attack non-Islamic schools. Boko Haram, whose name means "Western education is forbidden", wants to establish Islamic law in Nigeria. It has been responsible of a series of deadly attacks and assassinations across northern Nigeria in the past 17 months. The education officer for Borno state said two classrooms were completely burnt down overnight and other buildings at the government-run school were still alight on Thursday morning. He told the BBC Hausa Service that gunmen held the school's security guard hostage as four men entered the premises to start the fires. School children in Maiduguri Boko Haram wants Nigerian children to attend Islamic schools The gunmen then prevented residents living nearby in the suburb of Budum from putting out the blaze. Earlier in the week, another government school, in Kolumgna suburb, was targeted and four classrooms were destroyed. The BBC's Bilkisu Babangida, formerly based in Maiduguri, says both areas are strongholds of Boko Haram in the mainly Muslim city. Boko Haram first came to prominence in 2009 when hundreds of its followers were killed when they attacked police stations in Maiduguri - the group's base. Its founder, Mohammed Yusuf, was arrested but died in police custody. In 2010 the group started to stage drive-by shootings on government targets in revenge for his killing. Last year, it carried out suicide bombings on high-profile targets such as the headquarters of the UN and police in the capital, Abuja. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-17147625 |
Please does anyone have an idea of the pay structure of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)? I have a younger brother who currently works with a research institute as an Admin Officer where he earns like 110k monthly. He has an opportunity to transfer his service to INEC but does not know whether the pay package in INEC is lower or higher than what obtains in research institutes. |
may his soul rest in peace. So sad |
ak47mann:Thank God his identity has already been made public |
Just heard on channels tv that anothe church has been attacked in Jimeta in Adamawa state, this evening. This is getting serious. Mr. President had better forget about fuel susidy removal and focus on This Boko Haram issue with Governors, who are reportedly holding meeting with him now at the villa. This is because the activities of the Boko Haram terrorist portend serious danger to Nigeria as a country. |
Those who talk about negotiation are either being unrealistic or mischievous. i reproduce an excerpt of a submission i made on another thread on related issue; How do you dialogue with a terrorist group which, in a heterogeneous/multi-religious society as we have in Nigeria, says it'll only accept strict implementation of sharia law across Nigeria, replacement of the Federal constitution with sharia law, a theocratic (Islamic) government to replace the democracy we now practice and kills with impunity? |
mikeansy:I agree with you completely. ACN keeps talking about dialogue and concession without being specific. again, how do you dialogue with a terrorist group which, in a heterogeneous/multi-religious society as we have in Nigeria, says it'll only accept strict implementation of sharia law across Nigeria, replacement of the Federal constitution with sharia law, a theocratic (Islamic) government to replace the democracy we now practice and kills with impunity? Which of these is meaningful or is ACN willing to concede to Boko Haram through negotiation? opposition parties in Nigeria should be articulate and constructive ![]() |
The plot is real |
it's a good move. The implication is that any community that condones terrorists will cease to enjoy democracy; the military will take over to flush out terror. It also put the democratic leaders in affected states on their toes coz if they fail in their responsibility to protect lives and property, they risk losing their offices to the Fed.Govt/military. |
God has started exposing the Goliaths of this country |
Happy Bday Mr. President |
mikron:football is not about playing well; it's about goals n the SE failed to score. Let's call a spade a spade; it was a poor outing. Now Siasia is already being vindicated. |
This is hypocrisy. If they feel consumption is bad then they shul advocate d deduction of VAT on alchohol frm their monthly revenue allocation frm FG. |
sacking siasia is not the solution. Afterall, he cant take d whole blame for d unfortunate result last weekend. I think the players take most of d blame for obvious lack of commitment to the super eagles. And it's inexplicable to blame siasia ova his rigid stance on discipline in the team as if he is the only coach who does that in world football. In fact, top world class coaches with significant achievements have done that in recent times e.g Roberto Maicini on Tevez, jose maurinho on mario balotelli etc. Siasia shul b given a second chance. |

Several wounded in bomb attack in northeast Nigeria Sun Oct 9, 2011 6:48pm GMT Print | Single Page[-] Text [+] MAIDUGURI, Nigeria Oct 9 (Reuters) - A bomb exploded outside a church in Maiduguri in northeast Nigeria on Sunday, reviving concerns about a radical Islamist sect in the remote region of Africa's most populous nation. No one was confirmed dead but hospital staff said they had treated some wounded, including one soldier. "The bomb was planted near a church where our boys were on guard but fortunately no casualties were recorded," the operations officer for a joint military task force said. He did not confirm whether the blast was carried out by Boko Haram, a sect whose name means "Western education is forbidden" and which has been behind almost daily shootings or attacks with homemade explosives in recent months. The sect's ambition has grown and Nigerian and foreign officials have said the group has strengthening links with al Qaeda's north African wing. Boko Haram took responsibility for Nigeria's first successful suicide attack in August, when the driver rammed a car full of explosives into the side of U.N. headquarters in the capital Abuja, killing 23 people. Since the U.N. blast security has been increased in all major towns and cities and scores of suspected members of Boko Haram have been arrested, some facing trial this month for their part in deadly bombings. The crackdown reduced the number of attacks in the sect's home base in the dusty northeast but at least two people were killed in a gunfight last week and Sunday's blast was a reminder of the threat still posed by bombers. "We thought peace has come to stay and there won't be any more bombs. I am getting my family out of this place tomorrow, I've had enough of Maiduguri," said Okechukwu, a pharmacy owner said.
