I think the Private Sector in Nigeria is very indolent and insolent. Infact there is a huge vacuum created by this inactivity of the Private Sector. The only people representing the Private sector are Banks that oppress the masses and Oil companies that are owned by Cronies of Government officials.

Everyone is waiting for FG to do what private sectors of other countries do. We are waiting for FG that is Rotten from the top to convert fuel cars to electric cars or to gas cars. FG or their cronies cannot solve any of our problems. See the mess they have done to DISCOS which they gave their friends. Now they have huge gbese on their heads as we speak
When CBN and FG policies stifle start ups how can private sector thrive ? Now there is no private sector they’re the ones doing what private sector and competition should be doing. Good for them

Cristiano was actually referring to Mason Greenwood in the interview.

This case is even worse than Adam Johnson’s case(though she was a minor and not rape). And Johnson was sentenced to 6years imprisonment
The parents of the lady are dishing out a face-saving press release and are claiming the girl’s phone was hacked, also that they have asked her to take it down. They also protected him saying he’s been part of their family for years now.

Seems they’re covering the young man
Won’t be surprised if the girl takes down all charges, not like she has pressed any charges anyway, police are just responding to third party reports and social media circulars.

Likely event is this case is dropped and mason is released while the girl gets out of court settlements as well as her parents, it is playing out already.

He goes to jail facilitated by court pressings sponsored by civic groups or feminists.

But they reunited eight months later in November that year and shared videos of them larking around at home.

Greenwood and Harriet are from Wisbey, near Bradford and have known each other since their school days at Ashton on Mersey School in Greater Manchester.

Manchester United also confirmed the player has been suspended until furtuer notice.

PoliticsStray Bullet Kills University Student As Police Clash With Suspected Cult Member by Ebubu(op): 7:27pm On Jan 29, 2022
A student of Kwara State Polytechnic has allegedly been killed by stray bullet as suspected cult members clashed with police in Lajolo community in Ilorin, the state capital.

A police sergeant also sustained gunshot injury on his head at the incident that started in the early hours of Saturday.

Spokesperson for the police in the state, Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the incident, said, “The pandemonium experienced today within the area arose as a result of the attack unleashed on a team of police detectives from the Special Tactical Squad, FIB, Abuja, who came on the trail of some cultists in the area.

“Some suspected cult members had on Friday last week attacked and killed a student of Kwara State University, Malete, four of the cultists were arrested and dangerous weapons were recovered from the suspects.

“Information available to the STS team indicated that some of the cultists were hiding at Lajolo area of Kwara Polytechnic Ilorin, where a similar attack was unleashed on one student named Idris Aderemi by same cultists around 6:00am on Saturday in the same area.

“This prompted the visit to the area by the STS team. Surprisingly, the cultists who were already in ambush, attacked the police team damaging the police Hummer bus and inflicting a gunshot injury on the head of one police sergeant, Adebayo Abdulahi attached to the STS team.

“In the ensuing inbroglio, students in their numbers came out to block the road and prevented free flow of traffic and burning tyres on the road.

“The Commissioner of Police Kwara State, Tuesday Assayomo, immediately dispatched teams of policemen to the area to restore peace.

“However, two cultists, one Ahmed surname unknown and one Musibau A.K.A Shaban were arrested with one fabricated English pistol with three live ammunition, two live cartridges and one pistol magazine.

“The injured policeman and the suspects have been taken to the hospital for treatment.”

The polytechnic spokesperson, Yunus Abdulkadir, absolved the students from the fracas, adding that the incident did not happen at the polytechnic’s gate.

He said, “The incident that occurred at Lajolo community early this morning was between the police and Lajolo community and has nothing to do with the polytechnic students or the campus, as first semester CBT examinations are going on the campus without any disturbance.

“However, the management of the polytechnic has magnanimously accepted the plea of the students who could not make it to the campus before the blockage at Oyun, to reschedule their examinations on another date to be communicated to them via their heads of the department.”

PoliticsEx-lawmaker Blasts Ebonyi PDP National Assembly Members For Allegedly Opposing O by Ebubu(op): 6:36pm On Jan 29, 2022
A former lawmaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Barr. Eni Uduma Chima, Friday blasted the National Assembly members of Ebonyi extraction for opposing the constitution and operations of the South East Security outfit code-named Ebubeagu in the State.

He stressed that anybody antagonizing Ebubeagu must have skeleton in his or her cupboard.

Eni, who explained that “Ebubeagu is a creation of an existing law duly passed by the Ebonyi State House of Assembly and its mandate of complementing the Nigeria Police Force and other law enforcement agencies in securing lives and properties are well spelt out in the enabling law” added “an Ebonyi State without Ebubeagu will be a dystopia where only gunmen and their sponsors will survive.”

In a press statement titled “Only the guilty are afraid of Ebubeagu” Eni who criticized the PDP federal lawmakers for choosing “to play politics with the efforts of the State Government to curb insecurity bordering on communal clashes, farmers/herdsmen clashes, kidnapping and other violent crimes in Ebonyi State” stressed that the federal lawmakers “lied as usual when they alleged that operatives of Ebubeagu are not professionally trained and wield AK 47 and AK 49 rifles alongside other dangerous weapons.”

The Chairman of Afikpo South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State was reacting to a motion moved on the floor of the National Assembly yesterday and sponsored by Representative Igariwey Iduma Enwo of Afikpo South/Afikpo North Federal Constituency and supported by Representatives Ogbaga Sylvester, Nwazunku Chukwuma, Edwin Anayo and Makwe Livinus against the operation of Ebubeagu Security outfit in the State.

“According to him: “The mischievous motion informed by destructive opposition politicking carried too far was sponsored by Representative Igariwey Iduma Enwo of Afikpo South/Afikpo North Federal Constituency and supported by Representatives

Ogbaga Sylvester, Nwazunku Chukwuma, Edwin Anayo and Makwe Livinus, all of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

This infamous quintet have never sponsored any meaningful bill or participated in any worthwhile debate on the floor of the House, only to wake up from their inactivity to attempt setting fire on the security infrastructure of Ebonyi State, in a bid to play the script authored in Lagos to sabotage the political standing of Engr. Dr. David Umahi.

The truth is that the vigilante group underwent diligent training in the use of arms, which in all cases are limited to duly authorised pump action rifles. The group does not have any detention facility as it hands over any person suspected of committing an offence to the nearest police man or police station for investigation.”

The All Progresives Congress, APC Chieftain stressed that “Ebubeagu is an answer to the insecurity question in the South East and neither indulges in torture nor other illegal activities as alleged by Igariwey and his colleagues.”

“If there is any substance in the litany of allegations catalogued by Igariwey and his fellow mis-representatives, one would expect them to make formal complaints to the police or even to the DSS against the suspects involved, rather than pushing for the proscription of a group, which is part of the solution to the rife insecurity in different parts of Nigeria.

On the contrary, I know for a fact that the Ebubeagu vigilante group has been under attack by hoodlums supported by opposing political elements and this campaign has led to the loss of lives of at least seven Ebubeagu operatives.

“Why did Iduma not mention it in the House? Why are they not complaining of lack of AK-47 and AK-49 licenses for Bandits, Anarchists and other Violent Criminals who are on the prowl?

“State vigilante has become a convention in Nigeria and discerning leaders have continued to support them to achieve their mandate of complementing police efforts in securing the people. We have ‘Amotekun’ in all the States of the South West Region and ‘Hisbah’ Police in the North and yet, resourceful National Assembly members from these States have never raised questions about the legitimacy, activities and modus operandi of these vigilante groups.

“Why are Igariwey and co against Ebubeagu? What are they hiding? They should come clean because only the guilty are afraid.

“That these agent provocateurs were given ample time to fly their dummy kite on the floor of a House under APC leadership is a testament of the ruling party’s tradition of fair play. Yet, such privilege must not be abused striving after wind and wasting national parliamentary time castigating their State vigilante instead of discussing federal questions. Why not discuss insecurity on a national scale?

“Why did Iduma Igariwey not raise a motion of urgent public importance when gunmen attacked police stations and killed many including in his immediate constituency?

“How ridiculous could people be just to get at one man? I am aware that Linus Okorie has been serially disseminating seditious articles on Facebook and other social media. If he has been invited by any law enforcement agency to come and adopt his inciting lies, there is no point hiding. Making himself a fugitive and his co-conspirators reading resolutions in the Green Chamber cannot shield him from the provisions of the Cybercrime Act.

“This latest attempt by enemies of Ebonyi State to blackmail the Government will come to nothing as usual. The relevant authorities should investigate the people sponsoring the attack on Ebubeagu operatives and bring them to book.

“Criminals and their sponsors should get used to the fact that Ebubeagu has come to stay and will last for a very long time under the superintendence of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies. Hon. Iduma Igariwey Enwo and co should spare the nation their myopic views and malicious resolutions which though are like the proverbial tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury but signifying nothing.”

Foreign AffairsECOWAS Delegation Arrives In Burkina Faso by Ebubu(op): 6:04pm On Jan 29, 2022
A delegation from the Economic Community of West African States arrived in Burkina Faso on Saturday, a security source said, one day after it suspended the country over the region’s latest coup.

Rebel soldiers seized Burkina president Roch Marc Christian Kabore on Monday amid rising public anger at his failure to stem jihadist violence ravaging the impoverished nation.

It marked the third military coup in a West African country in just 18 months.

The security source told AFP that the ECOWAS delegation arrived in Burkinabe capital Ouagadougou on Saturday morning.

“They are already in a closed-door working session. No statement is planned,” the source said on condition of anonymity.

The delegation is composed of representatives from Benin, Togo and Ghana, and is led by ECOWAS peace and security commissioner Francis Behanzin of Benin, it added.

The delegation would “evaluate the situation before the arrival of another mission next week,” the source said.

Ministerial-level ECOWAS envoys are expected to arrive in the Burkina Faso capital on Monday.

It was not possible to immediately confirm whether the delegation would meet with junta leader Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba.

The once 15-nation ECOWAS had already suspended two other members — Guinea and Mali — after recent military coups.

On Friday it also suspended Burkina Faso, demanding the release of Kabore, who is being held under house arrest by the army, as well as other detained officials.

West African leaders will meet for a summit on February 3 in Ghana’s capital Accra to assess the outcome of the Burkina missions and to decide whether it should impose sanctions as it has done in Mali and Guinea.

The president of the ECOWAS Commission, Ivorian politician Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, told AFP that the situation in Mali and Guinea will also be discussed at the February summit.

He said ECOWAS’ response to coups has “always been very firm and very coherent — it’s zero tolerance.”

Damiba has only spoken once since seizing power, in a televised address on Thursday in which he asked for help from Burkina Faso’s “international partners”.

The coup is the latest bout of turmoil to strike Burkina Faso, a landlocked state that has suffered chronic instability since gaining independence from France in 1960.

A jihadist insurgency that spread over Mali’s border has killed more than 2,000 and forced 1.5 million to flee their homes since 2015.

PoliticsPolice Arrest Soldier For ‘robbery’ In Yobe by Ebubu(op): 2:34pm On Jan 29, 2022
The Police Command in Yobe State on Friday said it arrested a soldier, Hassan Abdulhafiz, and two others for alleged criminal conspiracy, housebreaking, theft and armed robbery.

The Command’s spokesman, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, in a statement in Damaturu on Friday, said Abdulhafiz was attached to Nigeria Army Sector 2 Headquarters, Operation HadinKai, Damaturu.

He said the two other suspects were Mustapha Abubakar, 19; and Samaila Salmanu, 25, all residents of Damaturu.

“On 22/01/2022 at about 2230hrs the suspects invaded the residence of one Hajiya Aisha Usman of Sabon-Pegi-ward with deadly weapons, including an AK 47 rifle.

“They succeeded in inflicting serious injuries on the victim and her son, Ahmed Umar, aged 17 years, after tying them up with DSTV cable wire,” said the statement.

It added that the culprits carted the following items belonging to the victim at gunpoint: N250,000 cash, 307 Peugeot Saloon Car with registration No. NSR 672 DD and GSM handset.

“The Police Command in response to the distress call swung into action, deploying both technical and intelligent assets, arrested two of the suspects in Damaturu and the third suspect in Darazo, Bauchi State, while in possession of the robbed car.

“The suspects intended to dispose the car and share the money,” the spokesman said.

Abdulkarim listed items recovered from the suspects to include one AK-47 rifle, 28 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, two jackknives and a cable.

Others, he said, were: 307 Peugeot car with Registration number NSR 672 DD, N76,000 and a Nokia handset.

The spokesman said the suspects had since confessed to the crimes and would be prosecuted after completion of investigation.

Abdulkarim urged the general public to be security-conscious and report all suspicious persons to the nearest police station for necessary action.

Ikenna Obianeri, Awka

Published 29 January 2022

The Governor-elect of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has commiserated with the victims of the fire incident at the Obodo Ukwu end of the Onitsha-Owerri Road in Onitsha.

The fire occurred early on Friday following a petrol tanker explosion on the road which razed buildings and shops in the market around the scene.

A statement on Saturday by Soludo’s media aide, Joe Anatune, said the incoming governor expressed deep sorrow at the magnitude of material losses suffered by the victims.

He lamented the incessant tanker explosions in the Onitsha axis and other cities around the country.

He assured that a lasting solution to prevent future occurrences would be fashioned out to safeguard precious lives and material losses in future, saying this current trend cannot continue
Soludo commended President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Willie Obiano for their immediate reactions and condolences to the victims.

He, therefore, called on relevant government institutions saddled with the responsibilities of providing succour for cases of this nature to provide the needed relief and support to ameliorate the losses, pains and agonies suffered by the victims arising from the unfortunate incident.

He commended the gallantry of the youths, fire service officials and other security personnel who came immediately to the scene to stem the spread of the inferno.

“We prayed to God to console all the affected victims while also calling for assistance from public-spirited individuals and corporate organisations for the victims,” he added.

Possible ? Yes. But takes high level of patience for several months as well as skill sharpening .

PoliticsI Wanted To Join Army To Avenge My Father’s Killing – Kunle, Son Of Brig Ademule by Ebubu(op): 3:07pm On Jan 28, 2022
Published 28 January 2022

Mr Kunle Ademulegun is one of the children of the late Brigadier Samuel Ademulegun, who was killed in the first military coup in 1966. In this interview with PETER DADA, the 65-year-old speaks about the life after the death of his father

When Brigadier Ademulegun died, where were you?

He died in the first military coup of January 15, 1966 in Kaduna. I was in the barracks in Lagos where his children resided.

What do you do for a living?

I was once a freelance journalist and currently, I am into livestock farming.

What was your last encounter with your late father?

When he died, I was just 10 years old then and if I should recall what happened then, there was a military coup, because he was very friendly with the then Prime Minister, Alhaji Tafawa Balewa and Sir Ahmadu Bello, so the junior officers thought he was fraternising with the civilian rulers. There was a misunderstanding in the system on the basis that my father was number three in the army then. The late Aguyi Ironsi, Brigadier Bassey and Brigadier Zakariyah Maimalari were also senior officers then. My father was to succeed the expatriate GOC ( General Officer in Command) in Kaduna 1 Division. So after Aguyi Ironsi came back from Congo, he was promoted to Major General, my father was made to head the Division. As I learnt, when the coup was hatched, my father was penciled in among those to be executed and unfortunately for him, he was in the bedroom with one of his wives. The woman worked in one of the military hospitals. She had a pistol, I think she shot one of the soldiers. So that was how they killed her and my father at the same time.

So how would you describe him?

Bridagier Ademulegun was a detribalised military officer, which Chief Olusegun Obasanjo himself confirmed to me. He was a disciplined soldier when he was alive. He did not care whether you were a Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo or any tribe. If you merited anything, he would do it for you but the unfortunate thing for him was how they killed him.

You said you were 10 years old when your father died, how did you know all the stories about how he was killed?

Before he died, there was this Colonel Olaseinde (retd), he was a Yoruba man. He was the one who sat me down and briefed me on everything that happened. In fact, I wanted to join the Army too, but my mother insisted that I should not go because she knew that I was going there to avenge the death of my father and that time truly that was what I wanted to go into the army for. But my people convinced me to leave everything for God.

How has it been with the family after his death?

After his death, we children were being sponsored by the Nigerian Army all through our education and we are united, we meet and we discuss.

As the nation holds Army Remembrance Day on January 15 of every year to remember the fallen heroes, do you hold such a programme in the family to remember your father?

No, but we speak to one another on the phone and if any one of us is celebrating we will all move there as one Ademulegun’s family. The only thing about us in our family is that we were not trained in Yoruba ways of life. We don’t care about our members but we are all Ademuleguns.

You said your father was killed with one of his wives. How many wives did your father have while alive?

I don’t want to disclose that. I only know he was a polygamist. My mum is the third wife.

Aside your education which was sponsored by the army, is there anything spectacular that the government has done to honour Late Brig. Ademulegun?

That is what baffles me most that as a military officer, who died in active service, there should be entitlements for my late father which should have been given to the family. But then my people were afraid of the army, nobody wanted to face them to ask questions. I took it upon myself that we should know where my father was buried, so I was taken to Kaduna military cemetery where they buried senior military officers and I saw my father’s tomb, but I was not happy, that after serving the country for that long, what happened to his entitlements? So I went to Abuja to enquire, I went to the then GOC in Abuja, but the man directed me to the army pay and record department. So later I just discovered that there was no seriousness put into the matter. So I decided to put the demands in writing to be more explicit. But I was more worried that my father hailed from Ondo town and he didn’t have a single house of his own.The money they got from his account, they decided to put up a house there so that his children; that whenever they come back home, there will be something to show them. So I came back home to pursue it.

Who initiated the building of the house then?

It was the Ondo State Government. I think the whole thing started around 1981. They called the family then, and they told us that they discovered some money in our father’s account and that it would not speak well if he did not have a single house in his home town, Ondo, and that they were going to remove certain amount to put up a 4-bedroom flat in Ondo town which they started since 1981 and up till now, nothing has been done to complete it and the contractor handling the project happened to be an Ondo man and after series of disappointments for the completion of the house and when I came back home, I got to the place, it was bushy. We can’t even say that the place is for Brigadier Ademulegun and I now called the other children to inform them about what is happening to the place and because most of us have got our own personal houses, nobody cares and I said I will not wait until the house collapsed.

Has the family made efforts to call the attention of the state government to the matter?

Yes! When I came back to Ondo, I went to the government and it seems they did not want to listen.

Since 1981, why haven’t you made move on the property until present time ?

I did. I went to the then Ministry of Justice in the old Ondo State around 1986 and I met one Mr Jayeola and this man told me that they would do what they could on it. I think he was the Attorney General of the state then. Thereafter, none of us came back to Ondo because as I said earlier, I stayed in Lagos. Later the man, Jayeola called me and said they could afford to pay the part of the money to build the house while we children would complete it. I was so furious about his statement, and this time around I have made up my mind that something must be done on the abandoned project.

So, what other steps have you now taken on the matter?

We have written several letters to the governor through one human rights group on the issue and they told me that Governor Akeredolu promised to look into it and that was in July 2021 but unfortunately, till now, nothing has happened from the governor.

What other means have you employed to see the governor?

I have not because I don’t know any other channel I could go through. I wanted to meet the SSG ( Secretary to the State Government) and they told me in her office that they were working on it since then. I don’t believe they are doing anything at all.

Before this present government came in, an Ondo man was the state governor. Do you take any step during his administration?

I did not because I was not in Ondo but lately, I had a telephone discussion through one of my friends with the former Governor Mimiko. He was even very annoyed, saying that he was in the government for eight years and “you people did not come.” He said there was nothing he could do that he could not approach the present governor about the issue.

As one of the fallen heroes, did the Federal Government specifically do anything in his honour?

Aside from naming a street after him in Abuja, Area 10, nothing again. I later went to Abuja around 2006 and I met the Chief of Army Staff then, he said many things but no action was taken on the issue.

PoliticsNnamdi Kanu Receives Court Documents Granting Him N1billion Against Nigerian Gov by Ebubu(op): 2:49pm On Jan 28, 2022
Aloy Ejimakor, special counsel to leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has said his client on Thursday formally received news of the Abia High Court ruling of January 19, 2022, which favoured him.

Ejimakor said the IPOB leader was very excited about the news and anticipates more victories on his prosecution by the Nigerian Government.

Justice Benson Anya had ruled that the invasion of the military operatives on Kanu’s residence at Isiama, Afaraukwu Ibeku, Abia State, on September 10, 2017 was, “illegal, unlawful, unconstitutional and amounts to infringement” on his “right to life, dignity of his person, his personal liberty and fair hearing.”

Anya further ruled that the Nigerian Government should offer to Kanu “an official letter of apology in three national dailies” and “the sum of N1billion” .

He also ordered, “That the first respondent is urged to show commitment to a peaceful resolution of the matter.”

Ejimakor, who made the disclosure on Twitter on Friday morning, said, “I had a visitation with Onyendu today and formally presented to him the victory he scored from the Abia High Court. He was profoundly pleased that he has been vindicated and looks forward to the new opportunities brought by the judgment. He greets you all – the faithful and the loyal.”

Politics2023: Gov. Bello Has Been Anointed By Holy Spirit To Succeed Buhari – Clerics by Ebubu(op): 2:17pm On Jan 28, 2022
Ahead of the 2023 presidential elections, both Christian and Muslim clerics on Friday claimed the Holy Spirit has anointed the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

The clerics made this known in Abuja at the intercession prayer and declaration of support by 1,000 Inter-denominational and Inter-religious clergymen for Bello to emerge as Nigeria’s next President

They added that they owe Bello a duty to see that he actualises his ambition because it would be for the betterment of Nigeria.

Although, the organisers claimed the clerics at the intercession prayer were 1,000, however, the clerics in attendance were not up to 100.

In his remarks, Bishop Prince Madaki said it has been prophesied and by the grace of God, through prayerful intercessions, that the Kogi Governor is the anointed son who will lead Nigeria from May 2023 to great battles.

noted that the clerics vouched for Bello as a man of peace and one who will take the country to greater heights.

He said, “And in the eyes of men and as revealed by the Holy Spirit, we have heard a voice from the wilderness, chanting loudly and calling on the underrated David, the son of Jesse in the person of His Excellency, Gov. Yahaya Adoza Bello to take over the throne of his forebears as Nigeria’s next President in 2023”

Madaki added: “And in accordance with the directive of the Holy Spirit, we have the rare privilege and honour to re-baptise him as we are gathered now.

“Therefore on this divine mission and today, Gov. Bello will be known and called Yahaya Adoza “David” Bello henceforth. It has been prophesied and by the grace of God, through these prayerful intercessions, Yahaya Adoza David Bello is the anointed son who will lead Nigeria from May 2023 to great battles and God will give him victory over all adversaries. ”

On his part, Sheik Mahmoud Abubakar said the presidential hopeful has all the requirements as enlisted in the Holy Book, hence, the reason why they were united in one voice in prayers for him.

He pointed out that it was that time of the year when all sorts of promises are made by politicians in the quest to gain favours from the electorate.

”This is the time politicians would come with empty promises to deceive the people and once they get what they want, they leave the people in misery, he said.

“As a people united in faith, we are gathered here to pray for that good man from Kogi State who has indicated interest to rule Nigeria in 2023. That good man from Kogi State who has the fear of Allah in him. That man who Allah SWT blessed us with in times of need.

“I can tell you all that our convergence here is not for the cameras, but an avenue to render prayers for one of the most patriotic Nigerians in the person of Governor Yahaya Bello, who has signified interest to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.”

I love this
Me too. Came as a shocker. At this point, PDP has Anyim, Obi and Ohuabunwa who have declared.

Only Saraki is the northerner who has declared so it appears the SE are leading in number to woo the PDP ticket to their zone.

Power must come to the South
