nedekid: Bros, the point is that the airport is not commecially feasible. If it is not, airlines will not go there. Anyway, on a positive note, maybe the state will buy aircrafts and charge people free, or finance eg 100 seater aircraft's flying eg 10% capacity. As for anambra airport, that state is a commercial hub, an example of a viable airport. oga stop crying for ebonyi airport we no beg you |

ChiefS: It's a high risk to resign as a serving senator. What if tribunal sacks Tinubu? What if Tinubu quarrels with him or feels he has performed abysmally and removes him from office? senate is safer but he will be closer to inner caucus of government and attend weekly federal executive council as a Minister. Also, his mane and presence and performance will be felt more as a Minister than Senator, imagine a performing Minister will be felt more than a performing senator. Thirdly, he’s far more experienced in politics than us so he knows which one best suits his ambitions going forward as he politically prepares to be a VP to a northern candidate after tinubu. But if Tinubu is disqualified, he loses all if he picks the minister position. For him it’s a big gamble but May the will of God in his life be done. In the end, I dnt think Tinubu will lose grip of this presidency. He’ll sell Lagos to Chinese and bribe Supreme Court judges in billions of dollars if he has to. |

Bobloco: So because he does well for himself as a politician, automatically he can become a leader in Igbo land
Maybe what is obtainable in your area is that as long as you can become a politician, either by hook or crook automatically you are a leader
But in Igbo land, Selfish politicians who looted the people's patrimony don't become leaders though they might have sycophants who cheer them up but they can't be leaders in Igbo land
Look at what has become of Rochas okorocha after becoming the governor of Imo State for eight good years, his name is in the dustbin of history Dave Umahi name can never be in the dustbin of history |

Dave Umahi is doing well for himself and his state that is all. so someone that does well for himself as a politician and did well for his state can’t be a leader of Igbos? Or is it because he’s from an “inferior clan of Ebonyi”, unlike Obi Anambra and Ott Abia ? |

Alusiizizi: As far as I can tell, that entire culture and their people are done. I always tell folks, the only way to destroy a society, completely and irreversibly, is to destroy a single generation. Throw bombs at them and they will rebuild. Shoot bullets at them and the remainder among them will repopulate and grow stronger, but lead just one generation of their society into that abyss that you described for us and that society will never return. I imagine that their only hope now is to be absorbed somehow by their less corrupted neighbors. They revolt against the solution which you advised. I’m sure you see their hate towards SE their only neighbours. |

livebyday: Not just AKWA IBOM, Rivers , Delta. Bayelsa and Cross Rivers too, it's the same situation across the nitre Niger delta why does the tradition in the vast niger delta states do not frown against illegitimate children? It’s such a norm and breeds uncontrollable youths when they grow up. Sometimes unproductive too. |
Politics › Re: Multidimensional Poverty: Akwa Ibom, Rivers Lead South-South States - StatiSense by Ebubu2: 10:02am On Jul 27, 2023 |
FreeStuffsNG: Some years ago, I witnessed this dysfunctional social 'epidemic' in Bayelsa but I expect this should have reduced or stopped now. Your own account sounds recent though. There's a Yoruba adage that if a family/community is peaceful, it's because the illegitimate children in that family/ommunity have not grown up.
Any society I see serious upheavals, this adage is the first thing that comes to my mind. I know this for a fact that if you are a legitimate child of a family/community, you will never want violence and wanton blood shedding in your family/community. It is this wisdom that Solomon used to know the real mother of the baby that two women were laying claims to. The woman who requested that the baby be split into two halves clearly is an illegitimate mother.
This morbid fear of having illegitimate children in a family/community is why the Yoruba do rites on newborns and have special traditional methods of 'pushing' out illegitimate children in a family if the mother doesn't confess. That illegitimate child will misbehave in a manner that he/she and the mother will şesin (be exposed) and it's unfortunate because it's no fault of the illegitimate child. That is why in Yorubaland, an adopted child has a stake in the family than an illegitimate child.
Any society producing illegitimate children have no future. That's why some families and communities are today non existent because they have been erased by a plaque of illegitimate children. you’re wise |

livebyday: What can they do? These are states with an endemic toxic and destructive culture of corporate begging from the community level.
In the height of militancy I was station in the region in bayelsa to the precise , I worked in community liaison and visited all these estates deeply and intimately related with communities and I can tell you that thebfoundatuional ideology from the hon setting in the Niger delta is flawed. And breeds criminals not good focused youths.on paper they tell you that they are traditionally fishermen. That's a farce.
The youths have tmbeen raised by a wolf traditional their forefathers begging and holding IOCs and other multinationals in the region hostage to feed them
A culture that encourages under aged drinking and immorality.
A culture that encourages drunkenness and wild unchecked behaviour .
A culture o unmarried pregnancy with an 90% population made up o fatherless children
The traditional beliefs that make up the major ethnic groups is very weak in the Niger Delta state It's very common to find an unmarried girl of say 22 having 2 kids from different men living in her father's house and it is not frowned upon at all I saw countless cases of incest patricide and such which is called a community affair .
The culture is ruthless retrogressive savage and destructive
Until the issues in the Niger Delta are addressed from a foundational point the entire south will continue to witness an endless supply of willing criminals easily used as kidnappers robbers assassins etc It seems like you’re describing akwa ibom where i lived for 9 years. Incest, fatherless babies, mothers with no husbands, drinking, full everywhere. It was very difficult for me to adjust at first because fatherless children are not normal where I’m from unless the father is DEAD, but i eventually adjusted. |
