refreshrate: I think you are officially the silliest person on Nairaland. I was wondering why you were reasoning like a toddler. It is very clear to me now. Your parents didnt afford you the opportunity to go to school. School is not just about western education. Morals are taught there too. Success means different things to different people. So many people find satisfaction and fulfillment in their work. Talk about engineers, doctors, lecturers etc. They lead happy lives. People that finish with good grades work with the best companies in the world, proffer solutions to problems in the society and move up the ladder to become CEOs and MDs and they live a fulfilled life, not forgetting to mention that they become affluent too. Some also set up their own businesses in the process. On the other hand, all the "third-class" and "pass" graduates i know are presently wishing they came out with better grades. They are finding life very difficult at the moment. If I may ask, what company have you set up? Tell me how you have impacted the society. Tell me the name of your company, what you do and the number of people you have employed, since you believe that people that illiterates like you/people that graduate with poor grades birth companies and impact positively on the society. AND PLEASE TELL ME YOUR COMPANY IS ONE OF THE FIRST 100 BIGGEST COMPANIES IN THE WORLD 1 Like |

refreshrate: You need to change your approach to life. I did not even want to respond to you at first. Stop envying others. Be happy when people around you succeed. Hate will not get you anywhere. You dared me to mention any first class graduate that owns a company or has impacted positively on the society. One of such people is Jarus. He is an active nairalander. He graduated with a first class in OAU and he has impacted so many lives and I am quite sure he is leading a good life. I know the advice you will give to your children is to make sure they graduate with poor grades, or you might not even deem it fit to send them to school in the first place. Hatred will only choke and stunt your growth. Get a life! |

alentyno: I think he needs to get a life!. He is probably a third class graduate living a frustrated life. It is written all over his comment. I was annoyed with the topic of that foolish post. Who is he to determine who becomes "somebody in life"? Even Bill Gates said “Although I dropped out of college and got lucky pursuing a career in software, getting a degree is a much surer path to success. College graduates are more likely to find a rewarding job, earn higher income, and even, evidence shows, live healthier lives than if they didn’t have degrees,” |

oluwadanie1: Most first class graduates get retained by their schools. Some choose not stay probably because they already got a mouth-watering offer elsewhere. |

This is in response to this thread https://www.nairaland.com/2480780/reasons-why-first-class-students#36314109 Please graduate with a first class if you can. First class graduates are respected all over the world but hated on Nairaland. Most nairalanders believe that all first class graduates crammed their way through school, which is not always the case. The truth is that a first class or second-class upper graduate stands a better chance to get a good job in Nigeria. Most companies hire only first class and 2-1 graduates. I respect first class graduates a lot because they must have put in a lot of discipline and dedication to come out with such grade. One thing i have noticed is that first class graduates generally perform better in the work place. They put in the same passion and dedication and they tend to be focused. I always get angry when I hear people mention the likes of Dangote and Bill Gates as reasons to graduate with a poor grade. The question is this: how many "third-class" or "pass" graduates have made it in life compared to the proportion that are wallowing in poverty? How many school drop-outs have achieved something in life? Very few, I must say. Who said first class graduates do not own businesses? Many have built empires for themselves. Many first class graduates also remain the the academics and end up as professors. They contribute to the existing body of knowledge and offer practical solutions to problems bedeviling our society today. The assertion that they do not contribute any thing to humanity is not necessarily true. This post should not be misconstrued as saying having is a first class is a ticket to success in life. Like they always say, life is what you make out of it. Most importantly, first class certificate could be a stepping stone to achieve great things. cc: lalasticlala seun ishilove 5 Likes 5 Shares |
