Nnena Omali was the chick who sang the hook for mode9's cry in 2005 or so. Her album has been eagerly waited upon since time immemorial and being one of her sickest 'devotees' i've kept tabs on her 411 like nobody in NL ever did i'll bet.A little tweeter bird whispered that she's finally dropping it this march.can't even tell if the source is reliable.heard same thing last year and couldn't find it anywhere but i aint lost hope just yet.The count down for Nnena's album is still on.the question is; is it this march as I heard? Who can confirm? |
@ poster, spoken like a true observer what i've noticed in recent times. The uncomfy truth is that most nigerians don't like being Nigerians. Americans are who they wish they were. I bet mo'cheddah or Naeto c wished their great great-great grand Dad was kunta kinte. And should anyone blame these fake cats for not giving two hoots about their roots? When they are obviously lacking of national pride? What do you expect from people so heavily influenced by american culture? |
Hee hee haw haw ching long ting. I laugh in chinese. Only in Nairaland folks. No place else do I get to laugh in tongues. Dudes please. How low can u go to prove your points? |
Asa is a better vocalist and her songs are definitely more interesting to listen to but Nneka has got originality and a hype that's really selling her. And we all know how much d western world just loves to hear about the crappy side of africa. And Nigerians can be such hyprocrites. It's amazing how quick we are to accept anythin as long the whites give it a thumbs up. Do we negroes think that we are inferior or that if the west thinks it rocks then so it is even when we can't even get a grasp of it. Please let's think like a free-minded people here and not like slaves. Nneka and Asa are both talented in their varying selling points as artistes. If you prefer one more than the other then it should be becos of ur personal liking and satisfaction derived from the artiste's music. Not becos of what 'David Letterman' or 'the French' think. Asa or Nneka? Eff all d hype and think Music then take ur pick. |
Psquare? Terry G? Why these guys? I thought they were the kings of 'too thousand and nine' or are nigerians finally gettin tired of mediocrity? I thought being a copy cat and spitting zero lyrics was Naija-speciality.Seems we are wakin up from the slumber of swaggerless ginga. 'xerox-ductions' and zero creativity. Phew! What a breath a fresh air.Now somebody's talking sense. ![]() |
The raving Rev is obviously angry with Ms gaga over her kolomental attack on her maker.yet he has no right to judge.Afterall,he aint God.What makes him so sure she's not goin to be in God's good books on one sweet holy day of repentance. He's a precher ain't he?Then he should be preaching to her and not condemnin.Nobody knows who's gonna go to heaven.God alone can say dat for sho. |
Add to the long lists of naija celebs with similar stage names: M.I M.P TERRY G TERRY DA RAP MAN A.Y AY.COM NNEKA UGBO NNENNA AGBA NNENA NENE ASA ASHA OMAWUMI OMOWUNMI FAZE 2FACE BLACK FACE Any additions? |
What's with my guy Terry and his new craze for stealing beats from his own clients.I mean, has he run out of ideas for his own personal productions or could it be dat beats ain't good, unless it was done for sombody else first.A.y .com was the guy who was got bitten first by his song-napping bug and now it's some dude called drama. What's up with Terry G?Any one with the real story of how it all went down?Cos I really respect the guy and I hope his own side of the story is good enough to exonerate him. |

geena23:I think so too. I bet it's worth the wait. |
Take my advice dude. Rome wasn't built in a day. Many Made artistes you see today didn't always sound as good as they do now. With simple voice training techniques and exercises plus singing regularly you can achieve voice mastrey. Keep doing what you do and don't give up. In the business of life, quitters don't win. |
manmustwac:Nigeria is so full of copy-cats that it gets hard for peeps to recognise the original ish. Don't blame ya for thinking she sounds 'shadeish'.If she probably does sound like somebody that person ain't Sade cos Sade don't hit any high pitches and thats for sho'. |
ibkaye:Made me cry but it was a damn good song all the same. |
audio:I'm not sure you know the artiste being talked about here. Are you mistaken her for Nneka;the half german chick with the Sade-like deep-throated,husky voice.Nnena's voice is quite shrill and mainly high pitched.Certainly does not sound like Sade. |
For those who are still thinking coby's got originality; go and listen to Norah Jones album, corrine bailey Rae, Sade's king of sorrows, and you wiil see the originals of some of the beats in Asa's album. Also roof top MC's Lagimo sounds like a song by Jeremiah Gyang and some rappers. Can't remember the name. The chorus was in hausa. What's more the track he produced for Dekunle fuji recently is just a prototype of Patty labell's miss marmalade.Infact there are so many others. Can't even count. |
I pick Timmothy Ogundele (T.O.D) ![]() |
I'm confused. The best producer in Naija is either Don Jazzy or Timothy Ogundele ( T.O.D). phaps I shld pick the second guy.He is very versatile. His work on Nnena's Falling roses blew me da Bleep away! Or was it the stuff he did for mode9's album intro. The shit was mad tight!!! It even got kudos on international review from a foreign critic .Don Jazzy is damn good but I haven't seen him do anything else asides the stereotype music in vogue now. Cobhams is very, very good: AT COPYING OTHER PEOPLE'S BEATS ![]() Don't hang me yet folks. I personally believe that what makes a producer the best are 3 things; Originality, versatility and off-da hook-beats. He's gotta have these complete or @#! |
Sunny Neji's new album titled 'Pin No' is a refreshing experience from the first track to the last or is it not? With songs like pin no,Ojoro and of course the Eko ole baje song that has been storming the charts I found the work worthy of ovaton. He certainly did make a lot of improvement on the last album;true or false. Give your earnest opinion. |
Nnena's love me love my dog is one of my most fascinating singles this year. The melody rocks and the groove is catchy. I find the track hot and original. Who has heard it? It's yet another mouthwatering piece of her which makes the wait for her album worthwhile. Believe me,I can't wait to get a taste of 'em. What do you think about the song? |
You are not entirely correct girl.First and foremost your list is incomplete. You didn't mention female acts like 'Nnena' and I'm sure there are plenty more female acts left out of your 'trial and error list'.Or is Nnena the one missing? Our country is replete with females who have loads of prospects. We don't have to downgrade any of em yet.Cos while there's time, anything can happen. |
Caliente:The same 'Yo' guy demanded N50,000 to play a track for my friend's brother. And my pal's bros and his group played the song for me and it's a wow! But that is even the least. These boys sadly narrated their experience at Bond Fm when a buncha hungry presenters swarmed all over em and asked for all em to receive pay b4 playing their song.A ridiculous sum at that. And those boys are really good. Why are we suppressing real talent in this country? |
But still. They are all sexually mental! Someone should find a cure but i believe deliverance can work were medics fail.Folaski my good friend .First of all thou should bring holy water, Let the cleansing begin, |
gabrywyl:Well the females are quite a sight to see. Those ones I can tolerate and 'hang out' with cos although dem no well they are quite a visually, stimulating, .But the men disgust me.Damn! The horror! |
Folaski! Homosexuals are sufferers of sexual neurosis.Na psychiathric clinic dey suppose dey.Dem no well abeg. |
Mad About Nnena Are you sure? Cos guy I am madder. |
Unite O nairalanders for thou art Nigerians. One love keep us together. This thread should not exist were we a united people. |
frijos:Exactly, now we are talking.I also personally think a Dj sinking so low to demand bribe shows that he has allowed poverty or hunger to deprive him of his dignity and self esteem. But come to think of it most of these guys are well paid. They just being needy and f--king greedy. This is the reason why we have to stay all day listening to wack songs that should never go on air. When an artiste is coming up they try to suppress the dude then when God lends a hand and provides a 'messiah' and the guy blows the bribed-Djs start to brag about how they 'made' him when they were paid for it. Please, ![]() |
