guy, I perfectly understand how peeps feel when the names of places like jos come up,being from the SW myself. But u know there little one can do about such, the wifey's people are based there, so it gets to happen there.

On a final note, this is for the people blaming the nigerian private hospitals for the universal human nonchalance towards the life of a poor man(because that's the problem here), I'l ask yo this question;

How many times have you made a personal sacrifice to pay a stranger's hospital bill?

I mean taking that money meant for your daughter's school fees, that money you're about to use to preorder your dream ride from inspired etc, taking it without compulsion and using it to pay for a stranger's hospital bill?

In case you haven't given it much thought, that's what you are asking the doctor to do on a daily basis. The hospital does this regularly, albeit often involuntarily (patients routinely abscond without paying up), but it doesn't make frontpage. The day the say 'we just can't afford this', somebody ends up dead and its frontpage!

Like somebody said earlier, people die of hunger daily and nobody's bashing Mr Biggs etc for not providing free food. Illiteracy levels keep rising yet we don't see threads here bashing the owners of exclusive expensive private schools for not opening their door to the teeming poor for free....its goes on and on.

The poor man is an unfortunate man. This is true irrespective of race or creed. Have you cretins attacking the Hospital bothered to sincerely ask your self why this happens to be so?why just about all hospitals WORLDWIDE collect a deposit in one way or the other before treatment?if tertiary hospitals require you to 'pay before service' then, what do you expect from the 'barely afloat' private set up?

Simple: People are people, they get anything on credit, they are unlikely to pay unless under some sort of duress. And yes I meant what I said about worldwide and that is for those of you yapping about US etc, there is an already extablished health insurance on ground which pays the bills. If the money stops coming in, the kid gloves comes off. Still the poor in the US face serious problems accessing quality healthcare, you need to read up on the much misunderstood 'Obamacare' to get an Idea of the monumental suffering the poor face in getting care even in the 'almighty' US of A.

Tell, why do you think people from US and UK run to India for Healthcare?

People sit here and write rubbish, the doctor should take responsiblility for another man's family challenges? What sort of reasoning is that?

I know some of you pointing fingers are landlords, when he cannot afford his rent, he should not be kicked out? Or is it not life threatening to be sent to live on the street with your family?

The purulent material issuing out of the brains of most of the posters on this thread has reinforced my already low opinion of the majority of Nigerian youth. The are mostly shallow, emotional and incapable of in depth thinking.

What exactly do you want a doctor to do? Does going to a Med school automatically place other people's financial problems on your neck?
The Hosp is just like any SME in this country struggling to survive and yet mo.rons like frosbel expect them to just suddenly be in position to dole out freebies. Tell me how do you think that'l happen? The hospital pays for disel to run its gen,its not given free or subsidised, pays for rent, pays tax, pays for security,pays its staff etc, wen the month ends and your wife the nurse is not paid after having attended to thousands of patients pro bono, what will you say? Oh let's not pay our children school fees cos we r helping humanity?
