Hello Landers, what's your best-ever Nigerian/Nollywood Movie? Mine is Oleku by Tunde Kelani...its a very old movie but its my #1 Nigerian movie.. very interesting film featured great Tafa Tomilola of university of ife, Shina peter, simply saka/i don port(Afis Oyetoro), Lere Paimo and so many other great artistes. I have the part one and two, downloaded it from youtube by the help of a pc software, YTD Video downloader. The movie, Oleku is an adaptation of Prof. Akinwunmi Ishola’s novel of the same name. Oleku was released by Mainframe Film and Television Productions in 1997. The movie tells the story of Ajani, a final year student of the University of Ibadan who is in search of a life partner due to pressures from his mother. He soon finds himself in a quandary as he becomes involved with three beautiful women- ASAKE, his beautiful old time girl friend who has just finished sixth form and teaches in a school in town; LOLA, a pretty, tall, slim and dark first year student he just met; and finally SADE, a childhood acquaintance who gradually and fortuitously gets promoted to the centre stage of the love drama. The movie was set in the 1970s, as such, every element reflects just that. Hence, the old vehicles, buildings, costumes, hair-dos and props. In the movie, all the characters are dressed in the old attires that were worn in the period the story represents. During the period of its public release and for some years after, Oleku sparked a fashion revolution in Nigeria particularly with the short Iro and Buba which people began to call Oleku. What's your best-ever or ever green Nigerian/Nollywood Movie?

Truly, we have all seen so many horrible faces especially from our beloved Nollywood female star in Gala or Award nights and at Owanbe Parties. Does Makeup really make some women look worst? |

Beauty Vs. Brains: Most Beautiful Girl At UNILAG Rewarded With A Brand New Car While The Most Brilliant Debater Gets A Laptop Damilare Babajide, a 4th year law student at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), yesterday took home a brand new car and other unnamed perks after emerging winner of the 2014 Miss UNILAG pageant. BY SAHARA REPORTERS, NEW YORKOCT 05, 2014 Damilare Babajide, a 4th year law student at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), yesterday took home a brand new car and other unnamed perks after emerging winner of the 2014 Miss UNILAG pageant. Beauty Vs. Brains: Most Beautiful Girl At UNILAG Rewarded With A Brand New Car, The Most Brilliant Debater Gets A Laptop Ms. Babajide’s windfall immediately ignited a debate among students and lecturers, with some criticizing the material rewards bestowed on a so-called beauty queen when the same university hands a mere computer and some cash to winners of its demanding debate contest. One lecturer, who asked for anonymity, said he was troubled that the car and other gifts to the university’s beauty queen far outstripped the prizes given on September 10 to the winner of the university debate competition. Zainab Olaitan, a 2nd year political science major at UNILAG who won the university’s rigorous academic debate competition, was awarded N100,000 and a laptop computer. UNILAG vice chancellor, Rahman Bello, handed the cash and laptop to the indomitable 18-year-old debater. Ms. Babajide speaks The lecturer also noted that last year’s winner of the debate competition, Ms. Mary Adegunloye, received a laptop and N50,000. “I understand that the university management was planning to give the same paltry sum of N50,000 cash prize this year to the winner of the debate, but decided to double the cash prize because of criticisms from some lecturers and student leaders,” said the source. In addition, he said that pressure was put on the university’s management to give N50,000 each to runners-up in this year’s debate. Ms. Damilare received her car gift today after emerging Miss UNILAG in a beauty contest organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs (DSA). SaharaReporters could not immediately ascertain the amount of cash and other perks awarded to the beauty queen, but Ms. Damilare told our correspondent in a TV interview that the sum was “encouraging.” Reacting to the disparity in gifts for the beauty contest and the debate competition, a few students told our correspondent that the relatively small reward for intellectual achievement was likely to affect the academic morale of students on campus. http://saharareporters.com/2014/10/05/beauty-vs-brains-most-beautiful-girl-unilag-rewarded-brand-new-car-while-most-brilliant |
Hello people! Something came to my mind, I think we should suggest a name for members of our beloveth forum Nairaland. For instance, when you meet a member of nairaland anywhere, there is no need of saying are you member of nairand? Simply ask are you a lander? I suggest we should be called Lander(s) What do you think? |
About a month ago in my street here in Ogba, a dark skin man said "hello brother!!" from a parked car along Abdulahi str, while my friend and I paused and looked in the vehicle, it was one Abeokuta based funny Nollywood Yoruba artiste Baba Dee. Can you believe what's looking for? He said(in Yoruba language): please brothers, how can I get to where they are selling Jedi in this area? I laff... To continued! |

Happy Independence day Nigeria! Check google.com today, Google is celebrating Nigeria's independence day with tribalistic & hilarious animation(moving image). To my understanding, let me explain the animation: In the moving animation, there are Triclycle(Keke Napep), Vanagon bus(Danfo) and Motorcycle(Okada) , and each one conveying man and woman with Nigeria flag in jubilation. Firstly, the Keke, Danfo and Okada represents the transport system in Lagos and people in them represent three(3) major tribes, the Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa. Tricycle(Keke Napep): The keke Napep conveying exciting Yoruba husband and wife celebrating Independence day, The wife is gorgeously dressed in Aso-Oke attires. The the Yoruba man gave his wife comfort, the flag was hanged, she was just waving her left hand. They are both very excited with all their white 32+32 widely seen. Vanagon bus(Danfo): This commercial Vanagon is conveying Igbo Husband and wife in celebrating Independence day. The wife is gorgeously dressed in Gele(headgear), beads, and short-hand buba. She is just smiling, her husband must have given her a great task for the day. But what a strong woman! She is the one driving the manual Danfo-bus while her super-excited husband is dressed in Niger-Delta mode attires, look at him very-well he looks like Mr President, his cap, the way he laughs, has the biggest flag and happily waving it with his two hands. Motocycle(Okada): The Okada is conveying humorous Hausa husband and wife celebrating Independence day. The wife is beautiful, hold the flag behind her husband smiling, and the Hausa man looks very amusing especially his cap. Thanks @EconomeiQ

I don wise tale-tale, technology is developing daily, I will always go for small name with big spec/feature. Instead of buying this big name's iphone 6plus, I will rather buy 2 ONEPLUS ONE, and and still get some change. Even while making this iphones, Nigeria was not concsidered while making these phones. Most apps on iphone can't be used locally here. Be decieved no more with name but let's great specs and features convince you. Thanks
