coolitempa: Curled from an earlier post today.
The attempt to exonerate crooks under investigation for the diversion of funds meant to fight the armed insurgency has on Nairaland been co-opted into the fight for Biafra together with the hatred for Buhari by the ipod youths and thus hatred for TonyeBarcanista for daring to take a position which is at odds with any of these views.
To be honest with all and sundry, I have found him to be someone who is not only open minded but someone who can be dogmatic but seeks to want the best for his country irrespective of whose ox is gored. It was precisely for these reasons and amongst others that he moved to PDP because as at that time there was a lack of clarity on certain areas where anyone might have felt PMB did not quite add up to scrutiny. However from his writings back then, he never felt totally comfortable with the direction in which some certain supporters of the PDP on Nairaland wanted to drag him. For example, the pro-biafra elements here have always tried to co-opt the Niger-Delta into their illusory dream without seeking their consent and they tried to do this on the basis of a not too subtle blackmail along the lines of 'after all, we supported your brother as the president' while conveniently ignoring the fact t that they were the biggest beneficiaries of his inept governance.
In my opinion, I find Snailspeed's postulation as being irrevocably shameful and lacking in logic for how else can he feign ignorance of the fact that the role of the NSA is one that should be devoid of party affiliation. The basis of his 'logical position' is that the bulk of the amount being investigated can be classified as security votes and the rest which was the $300million from the Abacha funds was expeditiously dispensed. However he is unable to back up his position on funds allocated to the ONSA as falling into the band called 'security votes' with any constitutional authority other than his say so. Furthermore, even if this illogical/unconstitutional position of his were to be accepted, the fact remains that these amounts must still be accounted for in order that we might decide whether our monies have been judiciously spent but the evidence presented thus far especially the statements and actions of the recipients' is sufficient proof that this position in untenable.
His name 'snailspeed'...speaks for itself, and we will not allow anyone to take us back to the ignoble period of 'stealing is not corruption. Enough is enough, we want our morality back...... I can see a new found love for the op. Well done Kwantinue |

Now that the truth have started revealing itself, about the level of impunity and theft that went on unhindered in the last administration, you're singing a new tune.
The PDP, under OBJ, Yar'Adua, and worst of all, GEJ were the worst thing that ever happened to the people of Nigeria, and I'm proud to be among the people who sent themback to their village!!!. why are you now courting barcansta trouble again. Saying a politician doesn't have an intention to defraud is like saying you don't know how I hate your guts and narrow mindedness when it comes to political matters.
Just who is deceiving who? Imagine! you don't know that foreign investors run away from countries where there is a high rate of scam than where corruption reigns supreme. Obj set up etc then because the US EU and other countries were complaining about Nigeria scams and how it affects their citizenry. joseph1832: Yes Bode George, funny if this same convict a yahoo boy he will spend way longer jail term than George.
Our courts are very well known to give selective justice when it comes to matters that affect any member of the political class. It is very easy for them to twist and delay the judicial system because they have the money to pay thousands of S.A.N to do so.
For me, Dasuki and his elk should remain where they are. the law can be funny a times, if you have a good lawyer who will sell your good attributes and also convince a judge Hw u have brought succour to people because of the high office you are occupying. The judges are not to blame rather the intention of the culprit and the yahoo boy differs. The yahoo boy had an intention from the beginning to defraud while that politician had an intention to serve. You can substitute Motive for Intention. |

joseph1832: Yea right? Like the courts have been doing a good job for a while now right? the judges only act on what is brought to their table and also we need to look at the constitution to know if there should be a review in the criminal justice system I'm not holding brief for the judges but remember in law court facts with irrefutable evidence are used to determine cases. Do you know that if by peradventure dasuki is found guilty he won't serve more than four years because the penal code has not yet been reviewed. Bode George comes to mind |

TonyeBarcanista: This article is to put to rest the attempt by some opponent of the ongoing anti-corruption fight to label the $2.2billion Arms scandal a propaganda.
While some opponent of the #armsgate probe allege that the money involved is $300million, facts on ground shows otherwise.
The $322 million Diverted Abacha Loot Firstly, let me clarify on the $322million(not $300million) Abacha loot.
The said Abacha's loot came in mid(and late) 2014 from the Principality of Liechtenstein($227million) and the State of Jersey in the Channels' Island.
Before the monies even came, the FG set up a three man interministerial committee comprising of exNSA Sambo Dasuli, ex-justice minister Muhammed Adoke and ex-finance minister Ngozi Iwaela. www.vanguardngr.com/2014/06/fg-receive-n37bn-abachas-loot-june-25/
The FG panel recommended that the money be used to purchase arms and on January 20, 2015, Ngozi Okonjo Iwaela sent a memo to President Jonathan to transfer $322 million to Sambo Dasuki which was approved. Excerpt of the letter reads...
www.vanguardngr.com/2015/12/how-okonjo-iweala-diverted-n61-4bn-abacha-loot-to-nsa-report/
This was confirmed by NOI in her December 10, 2015 statement through her spokesperson Mr. Paul Nwabuikwu. Here is a quote in his statement
www.punchng.com/arms-scam-i-transferred-322m-to-dasuki-says-okonjo-iweala/
I think this has been clarified that the $322 million was also enmarked for arms purchase. Let us see whether it was then entire money or a part of the whole.
The $2.2 Billion Arms Deal After the sack of Sambo Dasuki as NSA in July 2015, the FG set up panel to investigate arms purchase from March 2007 to 2015 when Dasuki left as it was discovered that though the FG under Jonathan claimed to enmark billions for arms, the army authorities(including former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh) were complaining of lack of arms to confront Boko Haram. Here is an excerpt of the committee finding
www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/193398-%E2%80%8Bbuhari-orders-arrest-of-ex-nsa-dasuki-others-indicted-in-arms-contract-report.html
If you add the figures above, it will give an estimated total of $2.2billion. Also, the emboldened is clear enough to tell that the diverted arms money was from 2012 to 2015. While the $322 million is part of the entire arms money, it is not the ONLY money involved. Dasuki was appointed NSA in July 2012.
The panel also discoverd that “The contracts, which were said to be for the purchase of four Alpha Jets, 12 helicopters, bombs and ammunition were not executed and the equipment were never supplied to the Nigerian Air Force, neither are they in its inventory.
Is The $2.2billion Arms Probe Still A Propaganda? After reading the above, will someone still call the $2.2 billion arms probe a "propaganda"?
If you read all the statements of Sambo Dasuki, he never denied the total money involved. He merely said that all payment were approved by Goodluck Jonathan http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/general/arms-contracts-payments-endorsed-by-ex-president-jonathan-dasuki/120239.html.
Even Jonathan's statement in the USA of not approving $2.2 billion at once does not invalidate the subject. Nowhere did anybody allege that the entire $2.2 billion came in one batch. It is the estimated cumulative of extra-budgetary amount on arms probe from 2012 to March 2015.
We are at a period where we have to choose between taking a position calling for the prosecution of alleged corrupt government officials and their allies, or standing behind the corrupt element to fight against the anti-corruption crusade. This is not about APC and PDP but about Nigeria. There is no sitting on the fence.
Since taking this noble position on the fight against corruption, I have been abused, insulted and called names by opponent of the corruption fight. Nevertheless, I shall not yield to blackmail nor cease from standing for justice. Justice must be served!
May God Bless Us All and Bless Nigeria Foolish is he that doesn't read the papers and MORE Foolish is he that beloved everything he reads in the papers |
