ABDUCTED FEMALE OFFICER NOT YET RESCUED, SEARCH EFFORT STILL ONGOING

The attention of the Nigerian Army (NA) has been drawn to some publications circulating in the social media insinuating the rescue of Lieutenant PP Johnson, a female officer who was abducted on Monday 26 December 2022 while visiting her grandmother in Aku-Okigwe in Imo state, shortly after completion of her Cadet training and subsequent commissioning as a Lieutenant into the Nigerian Army. A video footage of her abduction had emerged in the social media where her abductors claimed her abduction was in line with their fight for Biafra against the Nigerian State. It is instructive that the officer’s circumstance as a woman and a Nigerian citizen of South Eastern extraction did not dissuade her abductors from dehumanizing her in their mindless attempt to commit atrocities under the guise of fighting for Biafra. This evidently is another pointer to the myriads of crimes being unleashed by IPOB/ ESN on Ndigbo, the very people they claim to be fighting for their emancipation. It should therefore be crystal clear to those who are still in doubt of the true status of these groups, that IPOB/ESN are terrorists, masquerading as freedom fighters and do not deserve the support of anyone particularly the good people of South East Nigeria.

The NA wishes to state that the information making the rounds is unsubstantiated as the officer is yet to be released or rescued from her abductors. Likewise, the video footage being circulated and associated with the rescue claim is an old video of the arrest of a suspect earlier effected by troops.
Much as we appreciate the concern and goodwill of the general public for her safe rescue, we also wish to note that the information on the rescue of the officer did not emanate from the NA.
The Nigerian Army will leave no stone unturned in its effort to rescue the officer and bring the perpetrators to book. We appeal to the general public to provide credible and reliable information that could lead to her safe rescue and arrest of the perpetrators.

Failed Celeb Marriages: Stop the Trolling, Take the Lessons .

May Ebute

Most couples don't get married with the intention to divorce. I doubt that a couple that is very serious about marriage gets into it with the mindset of getting divorced at the end of the day.

Except of course for those fairweather types that know right from the beginning that they are in only for the good times, everyone hopes for a "till death do us part" and an *I wanna grow old with you," type of marriage. They talk it, live it, dream it, walk it. Unfortunately, life does not always go the way we want.

I am not married yet but you think I am planning to go into marriage with a plan B? An "If e no work, I go comot" mentality? One of my deal breakers in marriage, the one I can see right now, is abuse. Physical, emotional and mental abuse. Anyone who knows me off facebook knows that I am ride or die but not when abuse is involved. You hit me, even on the night of our wedding, I am calling my mum to tell her I am leaving. Except she wants to find herself a new daughter, she knows better than to tell me to stay. I can't stay with a man who abuses me in any form. There is no telling what I would do if I stayed and got hit on constantly, physically or emotionally. There is no telling what I would do if l married a man who stands by and watches while his mum and siblings abuse me. Rather than be turned into the proverbial goat that was pushed to the wall and turned back to bite, I would rather take a walk. That way, we can all have peace.

Other than a case of abuse and two others I won't mention, I don't have any plans to divorce when I get married. If you asked me, I would tell you all the mushy mushy things a couple would say about their significant other when they are in love. I would tell you that I am going to be married forever and forever, in this world and the next, to my significant other. That's what couples say when the going is good. With their heads in the clouds, It's hard to envisage otherwise.Really hard.

Ordinary boyfriend/girlfriend relationship, how e dey be? Let alone marriage. If people can think forever with a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship, it's not out of place to think forever and a day with a spouse.

I think it's rather stupid for anyone to be trolling Basketmouth and other celebrity couples with failed marriages, over the things they said when the going was.good. Been seeing some of the people on my list, going to their old posts, where they spoke highly of their spouse, to drop comments that reek of mockery. Ironically, the people doing this are unmarried themselves. They don't have an idea what their marriages would be like yet but there they are, making a fool of themselves over another's calamity.

Most married couples do not go into marriage with the mind to become divorced later on. If you are one of those that has been trolling Basketmouth over his recent news, let me tell you something for free. That's a rather silly thing to do. Why not use that energy to learn some lessons and pray to God that when you finally get married, your marriage won't be one of those that will be added to the statistics of failed marriages.

For example, I have since learnt that that a couple gushes over themselves all over social media, is not an indication that all is well behind the scenes. That a man praises his wife to the Heavens and back or the wife does the same, is not an indication of a healthy relationship. Sometimes, it is just to hide the true state of their marriage.

FFK's ex wife, the beauty queen, said something in her interview with Chude.

"Whenever he beat me, he would arrange for us to take lovey dovey pictures that would be splashed all over the internet the next day."

Paraphrased of course but you get the idea, yeah. For everytime FFK posted her pictures and wrote lengthy essays extolling her virtues, he had just finished beating her up. But guess what? I was one of those who would awwww and oooooh and ahhhhhh and "God when" over those lovely pictures. Who would have known that behind those pictures, were untold stories of abuse? I was shocked when the news of their troubled marriage hit the stands.

Same way I felt about Korra and Dean. I had always admired their marriage. I did date a white man at some point and wished that if we eventually got married, we would be like Korra and Dean ( not the naked, twerking part). How was I to know that the marriage I so much admired, had stories of emotional abuse and pain borne from years of hurt? For every time they made a lovey dovey video that got the rest of us awwing, there was a mess going on in the background that we couldn't see.

I am not ashamed to admit that the failure of Korra and Dean's marriage hit me really hard. I loved that couple. My favourite content on social media is one that is family oriented. I can burn data just to watch a happy family do their thing. Away from her dance which eventually became very monotonous to watch, Korra and Dean had that "IT" thing for me when it came to family related content. When they got separated and eventually divorced, I lost interest.

A lesson I have learnt is that successful marriages are not built on social media. The real work of marriage is done off social media. Of course by now, you should have known that you should not let the razzmatazz on this space fool you. So instead of trolling failed couples at your old age, do yourself a favour. Use that time to learn the things to do and not to do when you eventually get married.

Use the time to also pray for your marriage. Those of us that are still single, still have a chance to make the right choice. We do know that who we decide to marry is what determines whether the rest of our lives will be heaven or hell on earth. We have a choice to walk away from a shitty situation now, rather than take the risk to walk through that shit into a marriage that we want to later run out of. Knowing how manipulative our hearts can be, We can't do it by ourselves. We need all the help we can get from the one who created the institution of marriage in the first place.

LAGOS SHOOTING INCIDENCE: IGP MEETS, PARTNERS GOV SANWO-OLU ON SPEEDY ACTION, BETTER POLICE/CITIZENS’ RELATIONSHIP

Promises Due Diligence in Investigation

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR, met with the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja, today Thursday 29th December, 2022, at about 1050hrs to discuss amongst other things, possible avenue to achieve speedy justice for the victims of the recent shooting incidents in the state.

The IGP while extending his heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased, reassured that the cases would be meticulously pursued until deserved justice is served, stressed that the Force is working with the Attorney-General of Lagos State to ensure that the offenders are diligently prosecuted in Courts of competent jurisdiction to serve as a deterrence to others.

In his response, the Governor promised to support the Police in making sure that justice is served in the extant case and to collaborate with the Police on advocacy programmes to educate the citizenry on understanding and respecting the laws of the land for an improved relationship with the Police. He similarly stressed that his administration will partner with the Police to carry out refresher courses, training, and retraining, and other evaluation processes for police officers in all facets of policing duties.

Governor Sanwo-Olu equally emphasized the need to provide some equipment like body cameras, non-lethal weapons, etc., to curb excessive use of powers and boost good police/citizens relationships.

The Inspector-General of Police therefore charged all officers to imbibe absolute respect for rule of law and the fundamental rights of all persons, which is the crux and fulcrum of policing services even as he urged members of the public to cooperate with police officers for seamless collaborative efforts to stamp out crimes and criminality in the Nigerian society.

Crime › An Unfortunate Incident Of A Son Killing His Military Father by eddie7(op): 4:05pm On Dec 29, 2022
*An unfortunate, mindless & pitiable killing of an otherwise responsible father by his own son. May God order our steps aright. A sad read*

I SPEAK FOR THE DEAD
(A tribute to Lieutenant Commander Adeiza Hassan YUSUFF (Rtd) 1965 – 2022)

The social scene has been abuzz by the news of patricide (a son killing his father) that occurred on the night of the 20th December, 2022, at their residence in Ayobo, a border town between Ogun and Lagos State. Different theories (mostly untrue) as to what led up to the tragic event have been making the rounds. I was fortunate enough to share a deep connection with the deceased who was a retired Lieutenant Commander of the Nigerian Navy and I believe I am one of the people in the best position to set the record straight as I and the deceased have known each other for thirty-seven (37) years. I will use my extensive knowledge of the deceased and the family he left behind, including the son who stands guilty of committing this heinous crime, to narrate this story as accurately as possible. So help me God.

Retired Lieutenant Commander Adeiza Hassan Yusuff (Lt Cdr AH YUSUFF) was born on the 3rd August 1965 and he was a native of Ikuehi, Ihima in Okehi LGA of Kogi State. He spent most of his formative years in Ibadan, Nigeria, growing up with relatives, having lost his both parents at an early age. He enlisted in the Nigerian Navy on the 17th February 1985 as a Weapon Electrical Artificer and he studied and passed several professional courses and passed through many rigorous training successfully, making him one of the best Weapon Electrical Artificers during his service years. In his early years in the Military, he got married to the mother of his children but sadly she passed away after a brief illness in the year 1999 at the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Ojo, Lagos, leaving behind a son and a daughter.

Despite him grieving his late wife whom he loved dearly from all appearances and the abrupt adjustment to a single fatherhood, Lt Cdr Yusuff poured all his love, devotion and attention towards his children and his work. He was commissioned as a Sub Lieutenant in the Nigerian Navy on the 14th December 2001. Due to the exigencies of service as a Naval officer, it became very difficult to move to different places of appointment with the little children and he felt it was unfair to uproot the children from one environment to the other, so he decided to give the children proper roots and a suitable growing environment by taking a new wife, three years after the demise of his wife. The new wife (name withheld for security reasons) was never blessed with a child of her own but from the moment she knew the children, she took them as hers, devoting all her love and attention to them and making sure that they never lacked love and support from her and Lt Cdr Yusuff.

After 35 years of service in the Nigerian Navy, Lt Cdr Yusuff was honourably retired on the 17th February 2020. He was bestowed with honors like FSS and Pjsc. He was among the best Weapon Electrical Officers the Nigerian Navy ever produced and he left indelible and evident marks in all his places of appointment as an officer of the Nigerian Navy.

Overcome with gratitude and affection, Lt Cdr Yusuff bought cars and property for his family. For Mrs Yusuff, he bought a Lexus 330RX and for his children, he bought a Toyota Corolla and made further efforts to support them both in their different higher institutions.

While the younger sibling (Name withheld for security reasons) has been doing very well for herself, she is of good character and has graduated from higher institution and presently doing her National Youth Service in Lagos, the older sibling, Afeez (a young man of 28 years) has always been a source of challenge and constant worry to both parents. He has been dismissed from three different higher institutions, due to different infractions. He was hooked on hard drugs and kept very questionable company. He was into fraudulent activities and most recently, he impregnated a girl with questionable character and they both had a baby girl. Lt Cdr Yusuff was never tired of his son but accepted him, the mother of his baby and the little baby too. He was their primary caretaker and he made sure they never lacked anything, all the while, never neglecting his other responsibilities to his wife and his second child. Lt Cdr Yusuff put his son on a monthly allowance and established a barbing salon and POS stand for him to be able to take care of his and his new family’s needs.

Earlier in this year, 2022, Lt Cdr AH Yusuff was in Abuja to obtain some documents from the Military Pension Board to enable him get a bank loan for his son to travel to the United Kingdom for a chance of a better life. All necessary papers had been processed and the son, Mr Afeez Yusuf was scheduled to travel to the United Kingdom in January 2023.

Meanwhile, a relative of Lt Cdr AH Yusuff’s wife delivered a baby and invited Mrs Yusuff to Dubai to take care of the new baby, since she is closest relative the new mother had as a caretaker. It was a welcome news for the family as Mrs Yusuff took this trip as an overdue mini vacation. She travelled out of the country on 15th October 2022 and was initially supposed to return in January, 2023. she left her husband and Afeez and his family behind. It must be pointed out though, that there are other tenants occupying the Boys’ Quarters at the Yusuff’s residence but he stayed in the main house with Afeez and his family.

Prior to the tragedy that occurred, Afeez sent his wife and baby away on some flimsy errand leaving him and his father alone in the house. On Tuesday 20th December,2022, Lt Cdr AH Yusuf returned home during the early hours of the evening and his son calmly welcomed him home. While Yusuff was about to retire into his bedroom, Afeez went out and put on the generator, he locked all the entrances to the house and when his father went to check on his son and inquire why he put on the generator when there was public power supply, Afeez put the change over switch to neutral throwing the whole house into darkness. Unable to see, his father called out to him, Afeez hid himself in the dark, armed with a pestle with which he dealt a dazing blow on his father’s head. even while dazed and confused Lt Cdr AH Yusuff had the presence of mind to shout for help which alerted the tenants while his son descended on him with cutlass inflicting deadly blows and cuts on his head and body.

The tenants on hearing his desperate cries for help came over trying to force doors open but the doors had been locked by Afeez. Despite desperate pleas from both the tenants and the now gravely injured Lt Cdr Yusuff, Afeez continued chasing and delivering deadly blows to his father who was running around the house in a state of severe pain and confusion while the tenants could only watch helplessly. Afeez calmly told them that when he was through with what he was doing, he would open the doors. True to his words, when Afeez had mutilated Lt Cdr AH Yusuff beyond recognition and subsequently killed him, he opened the door and attempted to jump over the fence to escape, but was apprehended and handed over to the police.

At the police station, family and friends that wanted to find out what angered him so much as to kill his father, Afeez was reported to have said that his father did nothing to draw his ire but it was his (Afeez’s) life long ambition to kill his father. Neighbors, family and friends that had knowledge of the arrangements his father had made for Afeez to travel out of the country inquired of Afeez if he too was also aware, he replied that even if it remain a day for him to travel out of the country, he would still have killed his father.

Up to the time of writing this, Mr Afeez Yusuff has not even provided the slightest excuse, neither has he shown any remorse to justify his heinous action.

I write this as an insider to discard all other news making the rounds. Lt Cdr AH Yusuff (Rtd) never neglected his family. His life revolved around his family, especially his two children and he died as he lived, a loving, caring father who did everything in his power to provide the best that life could offer for his children.

You will always be remembered and the person responsible for your untimely and violent demise would face the full extent of the law.

Rest on, My Course mate, my bosom friend, my village man, ever smiling Lt Cdr AH Yusuff. You died as man, a father and a friend. Rest in Peace, Sir.

Bayelsa Man Abscond From Marriage Ceremony Over Incessant Demands

Drama as bridegroom walks out of engagement ceremony in Imo State due to extortion.

He paid N1,500,000 to cater for food, tents, chairs and a public address system.

He was also made to set aside N100,000 as the bride price that the two families had agreed on.

Biobelemoye David was asked to add N50,000 to the bride price because he had already impregnated the girl.

He was slapped with a N10,000 fine for making a detour to the wrong path and ending up in a different homestead other than the girl's.

He was also asked to pay N15,000 to appease the elders who had become tired of waiting for his arrival.

Drama however ensued when twelve girls covered in loose robes from head to toe were paraded before Biobelemoye David and he was asked to guess who his fiancée was.

He pointed at the wrong woman and that led to yet another fine of N15,000.

The decisive moment specifically was when the elders demanded for a refund of the total sum of N850,000 that had been paid as the girl's school fees and upkeep since she started primary school!

Fuming with anger which he tried his best to hide, Biobelemoye David excused himself to visit a nearby latrine and disappeared!

He switched off his phone and was last seen at a bus heading to Bayelsa State from Imo.

FIFA rankings explained:

Cameroon gained 28.86 points to move up 10 places, Argentina gained 64.5 to move to 2nd while Brazil lost only 0.53 points to stay 1st.

Summarily, teams gain and lose points in the rankings based on clearcut parameters. The calibre of opponent faced is a key criterion. This explains why Cameroon's lone win against Brazil enabled the Indomitable Lions move from 43rd to 33rd. If Cameroon's lone win had come against a lowly ranked side, Cameroon would not have gained as many points.

WHY ARGENTINA COULD NOT AMASS ENOUGH

FIFA rules also indicate that a win inside regular time counts more than a win in extra time or penalties. Note that Argentina won two of their games on penalties.

Also, FIFA stipulates that just like a win against a highly ranked side yields many points, a loss against a lowly ranked side leads to massive point loss. Note again that Argentina lost against Saudi Arabia, losing 39 points in the process. Other results helped Argentina recover and eventually gain 64.5 points.

Brazil meanwhile had a comfortable margin on the top of the rankings coming into the World Cup. They dropped points against Cameroon but penalty shootout loss did not do them much harm and other results meant they limited their damage to an overall loss of 0.53 points.

At the end, Argentina did not gain enough to go top. If Argentina had won their two shootout games in regular time, the Albiceleste would have had enough to be 1st. They are currently 2.9 points behind Brazil.

NIGERIA STILL ABOVE GHANA

According to FIFA rules, test or friendly matches yield less than tournament matches. Nigeria lost 4.15 points due to defeats in friendlies, while Ghana gained 7 points notably thanks to their World Cup win over South Korea. The points gained only took them to 58th position with 1400.02 points. They are still below 35th placed Nigeria that has 1494.32 points.

MOROCCO

From the above, you can also understand why Morocco gained a whopping 108.85 points. They beat two highly ranked sides (Belgium and Portugal) in regular time while drawing with two other high profile teams Croatia and Spain in regular time, and even beating the Spanish side on penalties.

The current ranking considered the period from October 6th 2022 to December 22nd 2022.
