The freedom of speech we enjoyed during GEJ can never be compared to this present vindictive FG. The much talked about CHANGE/NEXT LEVEL slogan...

This present govt that enjoyed the "spoils of war" from the 2015 petrol pump price protest, has gag the press, proposing social media restrictions. Blocking all the instrument that brought them to power..

congratulations bros. Getting a roof over a house is not an easy thing nowadays. I just finished the roofing of a 3 bedroom bungalow yesterday but I didn't spend up to 650,000 naira for both wood work and roofing sheets installation with every single material inclusive in the 650,000. But the reason is this; (1). I had some trees which I cut and sawed, so I only bought few pieces of 2x4 to add up. (2). I used Cameroon Zinc instead of aluminium. (3). I negotiated the labour to the last kobo(70,000) for both wood work and roofing sheets installation). I know this may sound strange but it's real. In fact, I later realized that it is these "roofers" that are making roofing look like one big deal. Before I settled for Cameroon zinc, I called about two persons to measure the roof. One said it's 280sqm while flasheets is 97m. The second person said it's 268sqm while flat sheets is 76m. I became suspicious and asked them why the flat sheets are not measured in Sqm. The second guy was innocent enough to tell me their secrets. He told me point black that they use to increase the measurement to get some money and that they can never tell you the flat sheets measurement in Sqm because that is where they use to cut peoples throat. But after much persuations, he told me the exact Sqm of aluminium that will be needed for the flat sheets and that the actual roof measurement was 232sqm( though I didn't use aluminium again). And as for the flatsheets, I bought 64sqm of aluminium and they cut and bent them for both parapet, ridge caps and the rest. I paid 115,700 for everything. But remember that the first guy said it's 97m x 1850 per meter which will give 179,450. You can imagine how much they would have stolen from me and then make me think I used it for my roofing.

That true, they increase the measurement to make more money, cos they most likely charge you #50k for installation. Then charge #10k for transportation, #15k for accessories. They make their cool cash from the extra meter they added

How did you manage to spend 973k on woods and roofing sheet

I'm a quantity surveyor, I have the estimate, market rate and I do direct purchase, but I contracted the 0.45mm aluminum to my childhood friend. He gave me the right guage and length/quantity...

Good morning,
I spent 983k on my roofing, 0.45mm aluminum, wood work and labour.

I also spent 97k on plumbing piping work, material and labor inclusive.

#190k on electrical piping, material and labor inclusive.

I have plastering sand on site, my challenge is d price of cement, #3,900 per bag.

It has scattered my plans, cos if I was d usual #2,500 per bag, #50k will get me 20 bags.

I pray the price reduces .

More grease to ur elbow. It's not easy this period

Good to hear

Price of materials are just skyrocketing
I never knew my roof will engulf more than a million, it's already costing me 1.3 for the woods and long span roofing sheet

The woods and workmanship is 550k
While roofing is costing 803k for a 0.45 long spand

Hoping by next month I will be done with the roofing

We have 3 methods

Pre cast. ( cheapest type but not as strong as others)

Cast in-situ.( it’s the most strongest but most costly than the rest)

Semi cast in-situ( this is very reliable and very strong also a bit cheaper than cast in-situ) this doesn’t need wood work as such, there is a already

good day sir, plz where can i get this steel formwork

I need a quick advice good people
I just concluded filling my house and set for flooring BUT my bricklayer wants another money to wet d filling with water to have it further settle for possible balance as there is still some laterite left. Again he wants another money for ramming before the proper flooring commence which has its own labour fees.

Please do l have to pay for wetting and then ramming after paying to spread d laterite ?

you dont need to pay for wetting, if you have borehole on site, just connect hose to the tap and run it over the surface for 14 hrs, it will naturally settle and you sand fill again to make up level. human movement on site wii also ram/compact the laterite.
If your project have a time line, you can hire a small compactor to ram the soil.
