Nairaland / General / A Man Had Three Problems by edet19892015(m): 11:06pm On Feb 06
A man had three problems: he was very poor, he has no children with his wife, and his mother is blind.

An angel appeared to him and tell him he can only make one prayer request, only one! But his wife wants a child, his mother wants to see and he wants to be rich.

Ah! What embarrassment! After his reflection, he said wisely to the angel, "I just want my mother to see my children eating in gold plates."

Immediately, all problems were solved.
If you are reading this, God will give you immense wisdom in solving your problems.

Health Advice To Women In 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣

Seems very simple, but can have a very deep positive impact, a medical doctor decided to give some advice to ladies. The advice is simple and clear. Please share this to every woman out there so everyone can get healthier and better in 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣

✒️You can not complete all household chores in one day, those who did are gravely ill and some have already been buried.

✒️Please make time to rest. There's no sin in sitting down, putting your legs up on the table and popping popcorn while reading a book or just relaxing.

✒️Please sleep if you need to, that headache will go away. Those who refuse to take vacations, or leave, or take time out or rest, their families miss them because they did not get to their maker in time.

✒️Stop taking sedatives to sleep, you destroy your brain and organs. At some point you start forgetting things. Relax the brain, worry less, think less, smile more, everything passes with time.

✒️Sometimes quietly sit outside alone, do nothing, say nothing, just admire God's handiwork, breathe fresh air calmly. Do not hurry.

✒️Stand by your mirror, smile at yourself, laugh, dance, sing, that will create a positive aura around you so you can glow.

✒️Buy yourself a snack or two or a drink if you choose. Just do something for yourself so you unload things in your head.

✒️Buy the necessary gadgets for your home to ease your work and avoid stress. Stress is the biggest silent killer of women.

✒️If you don't feel well, say so, do something about it, go to a health center, hospital or call a nurse nearby, don't sit still. Your life matters.

✒️Check your blood pressure and sugar levels occasionally, whether you are sick or not. It has saved many women in the past. Trust me in this.

Please don't forget to share with all the women you love and let them enjoy 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣ in good health and abundance.
Ladies, this is a wake up call. You are important and should take care of yourselves.

Nairaland / General / 24 Tips You Should Apply In Your Routine This Year By Edet Edem Akpan by edet19892015(m): 2:56am On Jan 08
2️⃣4️⃣Tips You Should Apply In Your Routine This Year:

1️⃣Respect is not a right but is only earned, you deserve it by your character.

2️⃣Don't visit except when necessary.

3️⃣Do not attend events that you are not invited.

4️⃣If you observe that your host no longer gets excited to see you as before, it suggests you've visited too much. Stop!

5️⃣Don't eat someone's food more than they eat yours.

6️⃣Be self sufficient. Stop begging. Some people who refuse to pick your calls or respond to your messages are avoiding you because they think you want to beg as usual.

7️⃣Always know that at eighteen years you are responsible to yourself. Stop thinking that anyone owe you anything.

8️⃣Work to improve yourself, don't compete or compare yourself with another person.

9️⃣Never speak evil deliberately of a person you don't like. Defend them behind their back if you feel what is being said against them is not true. Even your enemy will respect you.

🔟Never reveal secrets that a person confided in you.

1️⃣1️⃣Stop telling your bad situation to people. They may sympathize with you but they will also lose value for you.

1️⃣2️⃣Never call someone more than two times except they owe you. If they value you they will call back.

1️⃣3️⃣If you are the only person making effort to keep a relationship. Quit! The other person doesn't value you.

1️⃣4️⃣Use absence to create effect. Never be too available.

1️⃣5️⃣Never overstay your welcome. Always leave when your host still enjoy your presence.

1️⃣6️⃣Never gossip against people. The person you are gossiping to won't trust or respect you.

1️⃣7️⃣Have standards that you can never compromise. People will respect you.

1️⃣8️⃣Whatever you say behind someone, make sure they are those things you can say in their presence. Anything less than that, you are a blackmailer. Blackmailers have no respect.

1️⃣9️⃣Don't accept food and drinks every time you are offered. You may be seen as visiting just for food.

2️⃣0️⃣Contribute to any relationship. Don't only collect but also give no matter how rich the other person is. A good gift for your boss is a great investment.

2️⃣1️⃣Always say thank you after meeting people.

2️⃣2️⃣Be versatile and multitasking.

2️⃣3️⃣Never be found wanting.

2️⃣4️⃣Be a volunteer and give yourself some rest when necessary.

Nairaland / General / Ten Awesome Tips To Finish The Year Strong Posted By Edet Edem Akpan by edet19892015(m): 10:52am On Dec 24, 2023
🔟Awesome Tips To Finish The Year Strong:

1️⃣Set Clear Goals For Next Year:

Having a plan in place for your goals is crucial before the year is out. Spend time considering your priorities and goals for the upcoming few months of 2024.

2️⃣Plan Beforehand:

It’s time to make an action plan after you have your goals in mind. Create a schedule for accomplishing each activity in your goals by breaking them down into smaller, more doable tasks. You can stay organized and on schedule by doing this.

3️⃣Maintain Your Focus:

With so many diversions and commitments, it’s especially simple to get sidetracked as the year approaches an end. Focus on your objectives and make an attempt to stay.

4️⃣Get Organized:

Make sure you have everything you need to get the job done. This might mean cleaning your workspace, creating a to-do list, or setting up a system to stay organized.

5️⃣Prioritize Your Tasks:

Not all tasks are created equal. Identify the most important tasks and tackle them first. This will help you make the most progress and ensure that you are using your time effectively.

6️⃣Stay motivated:

Finishing the year strong can be challenging, especially if you’re feeling burnt out or demotivated. Find ways to stay motivated and keep your energy levels up. This might mean taking breaks, setting small rewards for yourself, or finding a new source of inspiration.

7️⃣Stay Healthy:

Your physical and mental health can have a big impact on your productivity. Make sure you are taking care of yourself by getting enough sleep, eating well, and getting adequate exercise.

8️⃣Seek Support:

You don’t have to do it all alone. Reach out to friends, family, or colleagues for support and guidance. They can offer valuable perspectives and help you stay on track.

9️⃣Stay Flexible:

Things don’t always go as planned, and that’s okay. Be willing to adapt, change your perception, and make modifications as needed. This will help you stay resilient and ensure that you are able to overcome any obstacles that come your way.

🔟Celebrate Your Successes:

Don’t forget to take a moment to celebrate your accomplishments and all the hard work you’ve put in throughout the year. This will help you feel fulfilled and motivated to keep going as you move into 2024.

Nairaland / General / Lessons We Can Learn From Russia-Ukraine War And Isreal-Palestine Conflict by edet19892015(m): 12:22pm On Dec 09, 2023
Lessons We Can Learn From Russia-Ukraine War and Isreal-Palestine Conflict:

War brings out the darkest and most aggressive side of human nature. It affects the way we judge and perceive people, and it also leaves a scar on our minds. When we witness war, we tend to be prejudiced and resentful.

We remember wars, even after the conflict is over. These images haunt us, affecting our perceptions and judgments. But what can we learn from wars? When war is over, we’re left with a distorted image of ourselves and the people who fought in them. We can’t stop feeling angry and bitter toward our enemies, and the effects of war are felt throughout society.

But we shouldn’t let this take control of us. Having an understanding of war is essential. If we understand how wars affect us, we can better prevent them in the future. War takes lives.

The lessons we’ve learned from wars are not always positive, and we need to be reminded of this and avoid making the same mistakes again.
Wars are a sign of desperation and the lack of morale impedes peace, aside from devastation, wars also teach us how to prevent them. By examining how we fight, we can avoid the future of conflicts and preserve peace and prosperity.

The lessons of wars can help us avoid another war. First, wars can make us question our values. The worst examples are the ones that destroy the most innocent and vulnerable people. Second, wars teach us how to respect others. They can make us more compassionate.

In addition, wars teach us to love one another and be kind. When we learn how to fight for our values, we will be less prone to violence. Wars teach us lessons about life. In particular, we can learn about our values. We should be confident in our abilities. In addition, wars can make us more likely to fight for our values.

For example, we should never underestimate the value of human life. We must be aware of the human psychology that influences our values. We should not let the fear of wars make us feel less worthy. If we can live with this awareness, we will be more inclined to fight for our freedoms.

We should learn from wars and use them to make our world better. We can learn from wars. By embracing the worst aspects of wars, we can build more tolerant societies. We should learn to respect others. If we are not, we should stop fighting for them. This is our duty.

The world needs to keep its freedom. If we don’t do that, then it’s not worth our life. Learn to be patriotic without being violent and discriminatory. We can learn a lot from wars. These wars teach us about life.

We should be confident. We should be able to face challenges. We should be able to accept challenges in life. We must be brave enough to fight for our values. Moreover, we should be tolerant of other people. If we’re afraid of death, we should not engage in war.

Nairaland / General / Gender Equality And Women Empowerment In Pakistan by edet19892015(m): 9:06am On Dec 03, 2023
Gender equality and women’s empowerment are two important goals that mean that women and men have the same rights, opportunities and outcomes in all areas of life. They are also human rights and necessary for sustainable development, peace and security, and human dignity. The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) include gender equality and women’s empowerment as one of the 17 global goals.

Pakistan is a country that has a population of about 220 million people, of which 49% are women and 51% are men. Pakistan has a rich and diverse culture, history and heritage, as well as a vibrant and dynamic society. However, Pakistan also faces many problems and obstacles to achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment, such as:

Social and cultural norms and practices that treat women and girls unfairly, such as preferring sons over daughters, marrying girls at a young age, killing women for honour, hurting women at home, harassing and abusing women in public, and not giving women justice and protection.

Environmental and security threats and risks that harm women and girls more than men and boys, such as natural disasters, climate change, conflicts, terrorism, displacement and migration, and human trafficking.

Economic and political inequalities and exclusion that reduce the chances and choices of women and girls, such as low education and literacy levels, high death rates of mothers and children, poor health and nutrition status, low work and income levels, low representation and participation in decision-making and leadership positions, and not giving women access to resources and services.

Therefore, it is very important to advocate for gender equality and women’s empowerment in Pakistan, as they are the key factors and conditions for social and economic development, as well as peace and stability. Advocacy is the process of influencing and mobilising people, organisations and institutions to support and promote a cause or an issue, such as gender equality and women’s empowerment.

A Woman in polyandrous relationship shows off her two husbands and kids

An American woman, Passion Jones has been receiving positive and negative remarks after she posted her two husbands and the sons she has with each of them in a family portrait for thanksgiving.

Jones has always advocated for Polyamory and her marriage to both husbands is a testament of this.

The 31 year old woman got married at 20 to her first husband and only began her polyamorous relationship when she was 30 year old.

She confessed in the Podcast they do together as a Polyamorous couple that she had no idea she would ever want to get married to two men but now she loves it.

Her first husband with whom she has two children together claims he was not forced to do it neither is he jealous as he enjoys the experience.

Her second and most recent husband whom she just had a baby for is quite young and very comfortable with the marriage.

The husbands say they take turns in getting her pregnant, that way, they know who the father of the child is.

I am happy to announce that I am among the graduands of University of Uyo, Nigeria 26th, 27th and 28th combined convocation ceremonies.

I have been waiting for this convocation ceremony since 2018 while waiting I listened to Banky W song which says "What if I tell you that I have sow seeds that are germinating? So be hopeful, because the God that we serve, do not take us for granted. It will come through that thing you are expecting, it might take a little time, it will come through when the stars align and everything will be just fine. Because when God says yes nobody can say no, God has the final say, no matter what people say and do. Delay is not denial keep waiting patiently, you can triumph through your trials if you just believe so don't give up the fight because God do not sleep, one day you will surely celebrate, He will supply your need have a little faith and see that God has the final say."

On a personal note, I like to honour God and appreciate my parents and siblings they encouraged me and supported me. Without them, my graduation would not have been possible.

It has been an amazing journey and one my fellow colleagues will most likely never forget, we all had one goal in mind and that was to make our mark on the school that we attended and make our mark on the world once we graduate. We all have different career choices but we're all bound by the same common cause and that is to graduate.

In conclusion, I am excited that the school authority found me worthy in character and learning and awarded me.🥈📚🎓🎊🎉

"No need to cherish luxuries because everything come and go, even the life that you have is borrowed. Because you're not promised tomorrow so live your life as if everyday going to be your last."
~Akon~

"And if my life is for rent, and I don't learn to buy. Well, I deserve nothing more than I get because nothing I have is truly mine."
~Dido~

Do you know that you own nothing and you lose nothing?

If you buy land or buy a house, you have only paid rent for the remaining years you have on Earth. None of them belong to you.
If you buy a car, you have only paid for your transport for the period the car will last or for the period you will last. It doesn’t belong to you.

If you marry a spouse, you have only got company until circumstances or death do you part. No one owns the other.
If you have children, you have only fulfilled the demand of continuity of life until death comes. You don’t own them. That’s why the State still dictates how you bring them up.

If you have money, you have only amassed value to purchase what you want, for your remaining number of years on Earth. The notes belong to the Central Bank.
If you work and retire, your pension is only for life. After your life, it stops.
Even if you eat and get filled, the food in your belly isn’t yours. You must defecate it back to Earth.

The body itself which you cherish so highly, doesn’t belong to you. The Earth will certainly reclaim its bits when the loan is due.
Even the life we live is borrowed and surely will be returned.

So let us not be afraid of losing anything in this life, because we do not own anything here. Two things will surely happen; we will either be taken away from everything we think we own or everything we think we own will be taken away from us someday. It is that day that none of us know.

We boast about our bodies, our houses, our lands, our money, our wives, our husbands, our children, our parents, our everything. But that’s where it ends. Boasting! Ruminate intensely and it won’t be difficult to find out that, we do not own any of those things. We are only availed of them to mitigate the necessary constraints of our sojourn here.

So never lose your head or your cool or your temper or your values or your vibrancy, whenever you think you have lost something because nothing was ever really yours. Not even.
