Politics / Edet Edem Akpan Talks About George Weah by edet19892015(m): 11:05pm On Dec 30, 2021
George Weah of Liberia first sought for Liberian presidency (2005, aged 39), he failed. He then proceeded to obtain his High School Certificate or Senior Secondary School Certificate (2006, aged 40), his degree (2011, aged 45) and Masters (2013, aged 47).
He then won election to the Liberian Senate (2014, aged 48). He was declared the country's president (2017, aged 51). All under 12 years interval.

When you make up your mind to succeed, you must also be willing to act on your convictions. If George Weah had to do High School or Secondary School at Age 41, went to University 45, did his Masters 47. At 51, he became the President.
The Truth is bitter, there are some things you want today in your life and business that's needs a Special Training or Personal Development before you can get to that Next Level.

Let's learn from the George Weah Story.
He didn't just run to one Pastor for prophecies or be fasting and hoping he will become President without an Education or Personal Development. He did the needful, by spending time to educate himself so as to fulfill his Potentials.

In 2⃣0⃣2⃣2⃣, spend time to improve yourself, the only person you should compete with is that person in front of your mirror.
May you reach your ZENITH in the coming year and beyond.

Events / Patience Is A Lesson Of Life By Edet Edem Akpan by edet19892015(m): 10:08am On Nov 29, 2021
I walked into a hotel and after going through the menu, I ordered some food.

After about 20 mins a group of guys and ladies walked in and ordered theirs.

To my dismay, these folks got served first. I watched as they began to eat and laugh heartily.

I even overheard one of them bragging about how connected he is to everyone in the hotel and I felt mocked.

I decided to leave. Unable to take it anymore, I called the waiter. He calmly told me: "Yours is a special order, being prepared by the chief chef himself.

Their orders were prepared hurriedly by students on attachment because the top chefs are busy with yours Sir. That's why they were served first. Please have some juice as you wait". I calmed down and waited patiently.

Shortly after, my meal was served by 6 waiters. Unknown to me, the owner of the hotel (who happened to be an old long lost friend of mine) saw me when I entered and decided to surprise me.

She changed my simple meal to a five-star meal. The party at the other table were shocked.

They couldn't stop staring. Suddenly they were the ones murmuring, asking why they didn't get that kind of service and meal.

LESSON: Such is life! Some people are ahead of you and are eating now, laughing at you and talking about how they are smarter, wiser and better than you, how they are well connected, blessed, have money and are enjoying life .

You are waiting tirelessly wondering why it's taking so long to breakthrough, You endure mockery and humiliation.

Maybe you have contemplated suicide, gone throughout depression or suffered severe mental anxiety.

Do not worry! The owner of the world has seen you and doesn't want you to be served a simple meal like those making a mockery of you. You're waiting long because yours is a special meal.

It takes time to prepare. And only chief chefs prepare them.

Wait For Your Meal And Relax!

DON'T FORGET THAT PATIENCE IS A LESSON OF LIFE.

I saw a message attached to this photo and thought it was very powerful. I will rephrase it in this way.

This is a car, covered in mud and dirt. The driver understands that he is driving in a muddy environment. He does not stop to first clean the rest of the car. He simply ensures that the windscreen is clean and clear as he drives ahead.

This in many ways represents our pursuits in life- be in the struggle we are involved in, or any other venture.

Will life throw mud at you? Most definitely!

Will people throw dirt all over you? Hell yeah!

Will challenges and tribulations come your way? Assuredly!

Are there people who will brand you, malign you and throw all manner of profanities at you? As sure as day follows night!

Question is, what do you do when this happens? Your attitude will determine your altitude. Your response will determine whether you sink or swim. Whether you fly or collapse!

KEEP YOUR VISION CLEAR. As the mud comes in from all sides, keep your focus on the journey. Do not turn to the left or to the right - keep looking ahead. Let everything else be covered in mud but not your eyesight.

There is nothing that assists the enemy like seeing you stop every time to concentrate on the dirt he is throwing at you. In the first place, that is his intention. Conversely, nothing destroys the enemy more than seeing you remain focused on the cause and the course despite all the mud they throw at you. That is the only way you can make it to your destination. May God help all of us to keep the vision, keep our focus on the bigger picture and keep the faith!

May everything your hands touches FLOURISH.

Sometimes trying to prove that you're the best is an insult to your person.

You don't need to bring yourself down to other people's level, to make them understand that you are stronger.

Think well and save your energy for what you deserve.

The cheetah only uses his speed to hunt, not to prove to dogs that he is the fastest and strongest...

Nairaland / General / Privileged And Underprivileged Written By Edet Edem Akpan by edet19892015(m): 6:17pm On Nov 15, 2021
Oxford advanced learner's dictionary 8th edition defined PRIVILEGED as having special rights or advantages that most people do not have.
The same dictionary defined UNDERPRIVILEGED as having less money and fewer opportunities than most people in society.

In the same vein, A Nigerian Sociologist argue that PRIVILEGED is when you are free from fear and harm while UNDERPRIVILEGED is when you are not free from fear and harm.

Today most people sees themselves as more privileged than others, I want us to know that everyone in the society are at some point in time privileged and underprivileged.

If you walk on the street, drive on the road without armed security guards, you are privileged.
If you go about your daily routine with armed security guards, you are underprivileged.

If you got ill and treated in your local health facility, you are privileged.
If you got ill and have no confidence in your local health facility then you travel overseas for treatment, you are underprivileged.

If your kids are schooling in your locality without being kidnapped or killed, you are privileged.
If you send your children to schools aboard for fear of kidnapping and killing, Sir or Ma'am you are underprivileged.

If you do not depend on aid, you are privileged but if you depend on aid, you are underprivileged.
Hence, irrespective of the class you belong to in the society, you are at some point in time PRIVILEGED and UNDERPRIVILEGED.

Religion / The Battle Belongs To The Lord By Edet Edem Akpan by edet19892015(m): 2:30pm On Nov 13, 2021
The devil cannot read your mind, he gets clues from your movements and listening to your conversations. Therefore don't verbalise your fears and don't voice your doubts and worries.

Don't parade your problems in public. Remember Hannah prayed silently. Whenever you are deeply fearful, doubtful and worried do not give a voice to your feelings.

Rather sing praises loudly and pray silently. Some prayers are just between you and God, heart to heart, zip your lips and pray silently, whenever you are done praying walk like a victor not a victim.

Your father who hears you in silence will reward you openly. whenever you want to speak, speak positive, speak life, don't look at the circumstances around you but speak your destiny. No matter the situation the battle is not yours. THE BATTLE BELONGS TO THE LORD!

Leave it to the roaring Lion of Judah, the Lord of lords and the King of kings.
who will grant you victory in Jesus Christ name. Amen!

In LIFE, some may walk, others may run, but remember the Lord gave the tortoise and the horse the same days to reach Noah's ark.

Your journey might be rough and tough but you will definitely get to your destination. Jacob looked at Joseph and saw a good son! The ten brothers looked at Joseph and saw a useless dreamer! The travellers looked at Joseph and saw a slave!! Potiphar looked at Joseph and saw a fine servant! Potiphar's wife looked at Joseph and saw a potential boyfriend!

The prison officers saw in Joseph a prisoner! How wrong were all of them! God looked at Joseph and saw a Prime Minister of Egypt in waiting! Don't be discouraged by what people see in you! Be encouraged by what God sees in you!

Never underrate the person next to you because you never know what the Lord has deposited in that person.
Your maid may be a Chief Executive Officer in waiting for a company which shall employ your child.

Your garden boy may be a president in waiting. (Remember David got the anointing of becoming a King while he was a simple child herding sheep.
Esther was a simple orphaned girl yet she was a Queen in waiting).
Let's share God's love and make the world a better place to live.

IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW PEOPLE SEE YOU, IT MATTERS HOW GOD SEES YOU.
BE FOCUS AND BELIEVE IN CHRIST ALONE.

See You At The Top

Culture / Halloween Day By Edet Edem Akpan by edet19892015(m): 8:12am On Oct 31, 2021
Today 31st of October is the Halloween Day in the Western World.
Halloween is more festive for a lot of people. It is celebrated with costumes, decorations, trick-or-treating, and parties.
Orange and black are the main Halloween colors because orange is associated with the fall harvest and black is associated with darkness and death.

Jack o’ Lanterns originated in Ireland where people placed candles in hollowed-out turnips to keep away spirits and ghosts on the holiday.
Halloween candy sales average around 2 billion dollars annually in the United States. Chocolate candy bars top the list as the most popular candy for trick-or-treaters, with Snickers being number 1.
Halloween is the 2nd most commercially successful holiday, with Christmas being the first.

Black cats were once believed to be witch’s familiars who protected their powers.
The first Jack O’Lanterns were made of beets and turnips.
Witches are commonly seen during Halloween parties. This originated from an Old English term “wicce” which means “wise woman”. Scarecrows symbolize the ancient agricultural roots of the celebration.

One of the original practices during trick-or-treating is giving of soul cakes. In the earlier times, the church encouraged people to give soul cakes to poor citizen in return for prayer for their deceased family members. In the ancient times, soul cakes and wine were left for roaming spirits.

Africans are very fond of Western Culture and Festivities, why do Africans refuse to adopt HALLOWEEN?

Literature / Edet Edem Akpan More Than Conquerors by edet19892015(m): 1:58pm On Oct 27, 2021
God gives us dreams for the future, but sometimes those dreams can seem impossible. That's when fear starts to set in.

If you are determined to never give up on your dream, then you have to take chances, you have to be courageous. And you need to understand that courage is not the absence of fear; it is pressing forward when you feel afraid. So when you face situations that threaten or intimidate you, you do not need to pray as much for the fear to go away as for boldness and courage so you can move ahead in spite of the fear.

The spirit of fear will always try to keep you from going forward. The enemy has used fear for centuries to try to stop people, and he is not going to change his strategy now. But you can defeat fear, because you are more than a conqueror through Him who loves us.

I want to encourage you to be determined to face fear when it comes against you. Stand firm, trusting God and knowing He is always with you.

Prayer Starter: God, even though I might feel afraid, I believe Your Word, which says that I am more than a conqueror. I can accomplish every dream You've given me because You love me and give me the victory.

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”

Events / Breakthrough By Edet Edem Akpan by edet19892015(m): 12:28am On Oct 26, 2021
I was pondering about life, I discovered that:
Sometimes, to succeed in life you need ENEMIES. Yes!
You need people who will mock you, so that you can run to God.
You need people who will try to intimidate you, so that you can be courageous.
You need people who will say "NO" so that you can learn how to be independent. I mean how to do it yourself.

You need people who will disappoint you so that you can put all your trust in God alone.
You need people who will work towards you loosing that job, so that you can start your own big business.
You need people who will sell your 'Joseph' so that 'you' can get to Egypt and be a Prime Minister in a strange land of captivity.

You need a cruel landlord, so that you won't be too comfortable in someone else's house, then you can build your own house on time.
But sometimes, when we are disappointed, we feel very bad and we tend to remain on that spot. Not knowing that the endpoint of disappointment is the beginning of your accomplishments.
Understand this, "that every disappointment you once had came with a blessing!" However, it is not everyone that partakes in this blessing that I'm talking about.

You cannot see a new OPEN door while you are still putting all your attention, time and energy in trying to force the closed one to open.
And again I say, "No disappointment can ever come without an attached blessing!"
So, when the disappointment come, thank God for it and tell "HIM" to open your eyes to see the new blessing that HE has for you!
Disappointment is PHASE 1 while accomplishment is PHASE 2. I doubt if one can jump the protocols.

That is why it is called BREAKTHROUGH, Something must BREAK so that you can go THROUGH.
You are encourage and lifted today. Welcome to your SEASON of BREAKTHROUGH.

Family / Motherhood By Edet Edem Akpan by edet19892015(m): 12:21am On Oct 26, 2021
When you open your mouth to judge a mother, bite your tongue first.
Pregnancy hurts.
Birth hurts.
Breastfeeding hurts
Watching your baby cry hurts
Not sleeping well, it hurts.
Serving everyone and being the last hurts.
Not having time for yourself - hurts.

The mother needs help, not to be criticized,
she needs love and not to be judged,
she takes care of everyone, but she needs to take care of herself as well.
MOTHERHOOD is not as gentle as it seems, MOTHERHOOD is beautiful, yes, but it is very difficult.
What's beautiful is the love that a mother has for her child, that love is capable of enduring everything!

Learning has no age limit. Never stop learning and adapting. The world will always be changing.
It is never late to earn a DEGREE, MASTERS OR DOCTORATE. All age groups are welcome to the act of learning.

The word "Leader" is coined from "Learn" so to be a Leader you must be LEARNED.
Former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo earn a doctorate at the age of 80.

The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.
Liberian President George Weah, wasn't undeterred, at the age of 40, Weah received a high school diploma.

What is stopping you from rising to the zenith of your potentials? Today I challenge you to LEARN AND RELEARN.

Today, October 20, 2021 marks the 1-year anniversary of the #ENDSARS "tragic Lekki Toll Gate shooting", a day that left many devastated and traumatized.

While the pain, hurt, and confusion will still linger, I continue to remember and honor those whose lives were lost by taking action, demanding for a better policing system.

And for those whose properties and businesses were destroyed, vandalized and looted, I salute your resilience and I pray this ugly incidence should never happen again.

May the soul of all the people departed on 20-10-20 continue to rest in peace and may justice prevail in our country.
