goldfish80: I only blame Rohr for not getting it right with the correct tactics when defending corner kicks. It makes me wonder the purpose of the camping in Austria.
That said, the team picked itself today, if we are honest. Nigerians still haven't realized how much overhyped these players are. Fighting this over hype is the main reason I'm in the black books of many people here. Of course we knew it was not going to be easy. Yes the team picked itself but Rohr did not utilized them to their fullest capacity. Imagine if Etebo was playing behind Ighalo instead of Mikel and pressing their CBs with Ighalo? Imagine Etebo closer to the opposition half and swapping position with Iwobi? Sure you'll say it doesn't matter but trust me little things like this does. Mikel building from deep with Iwobi and Etebo rounding things off would've been much better than this nonsense we saw. Starting Ebuehi would've been a good idea. Starting Nacho would've been a good idea. It was always 50/50 to get out of the group but we didn't push Croatia enough. That is all on Rohr. He's the one that stupidly stacked this team with b2b/destroyers instead of looking for creativity. He's the one that didn't try to do anything when we lost our true natural winger in Moses Simon without doing anything. Screw Rohr. We gave him the benefit of the doubt and he flopped. Very conservative and inflexible. All Pinnick's effort has gone to waste because of this fool. |

goldfish80: Mikel have never played that position for Nigeria. We can blame the coach all we want but the truth is that our players aren't world cup standard. Look at the goal return of our starting front 3 for their clubs. Mikel played as a DLP in the last world cup. Mikel only started having an extended run as a 10 under Rohr. We made it very easy for Croatia. His tactics were wrong. |

goldfish80: It's not entirely the faulty of the coach. This team lacks big tournament experience. Most of these guys are playing a big tournament for the Super Eagles for the first time. You can't buy experience. Rohr is a 100 percent to blame. He got his tactics 100 percent wrong. Mikel should be playing as a DLP. Iwobi as a 10, Etebo out wide. Rohr becomes nothing more than a budget Godwin Uwua when he can't motivate his players. My eyes are open now. I was hoping he'd change and spring up a surprise but this guy is tactically useless. Keshi is a better tactician Amodu was a better Tactician Siasia is a Million times better Oliseh is not his mate. I hate this guy man. It's so painful that Croatia didn't even need to get off first gear to beat us COMFORTABLY. Bleep Rohr abeg!! |

We have no playmaker on the pitch now. We begged Rohr to look for another creative player, instead he filled the team up with destroyers and b2b midfielders I hate Rohr. Pinnick better have that fool resignation letter ready. |

safarigirl: is there anything Africa is ready for? We are in the 21st century and Africa is not ready for independence, for democracy, for ANYTHING. So, what should happen? They should wipe the continent off the world map?
Nobody is saying Africa will win the world cup, but this defeatist mentality most of you have grown with is sickening and is the reason why Africa will never be ready for anything. A continent filled with cowards that give up and run away at the first sign of struggle will never achieve a thing
Some of you call it realism. I call it cowardice. Failure never killed anyone, but anticipating failure will kill before the failure. This lack of faith in your teams will kill them more than whatever the opposition want to do
Everybody that has already been defeated before the end of this stage is undeserving to be African. Your forefathers would sneer at you all, the cradle of human civilization has been reduced to withering cowards. Losers. How long are we going to be optimistic?? For how long are we going to be seen as "potential"? Pele predicted we'd win the World Cup by the 2000s...instead what has happened? The best we've done since the 1990 is the Quarter finals. The way things are going - 2030 will come and the best we'll still be talking about is quarter final. Africa has a long way to go before we can be amongst the elite. We first need to have more players making the top 3 for Ballon d orr and of course the usual improve the infrastructure in our leagues, grassroots levels, etc |

Uruguay's midfield is the problem. 4-4-2 is too disjointed. Lack of pace an issue as well. Egypt just needs to get a goal now |

Martz101: not just figo, so mang other players *totti *delpiero *rui costa *van nisteroy *ballack *zidan *beckamp
better players but the English carried his matter for head like his maradona. they did thesame to graveson and madrid stupidly thought he wad better than makalele.
pirlo and alonso do that same long range passing and they even do more than that.
English boys are nothing without there media more reason why they end up been poor during important tournerment None of those guys were Wingers and Beckham had better long range passing than all of them. This is a fact. Pirlo and Alonso were more elegant and skillful than him, but not better long passers. |

goldfish80: It also did help he was handsome. If Beckham had the looks of Kante or Luke Chadwick, he wouldn't be remembered with so much nostalgia. That's the point. From being overhyped because of his looks to getting underrated because of it as well. He was a good player. Some people are making it look like all he could do was cross and take freekicks. Becks in today's game would be a great DLP. Passing range, vision and stamina. |

Martz101: [/b]
you mean he could not nail down his favourite position, no skill or pace to beat defenders on the wing and his the best?? We all know Figo was the best Right Winger during that era. Whatever Becks lacked in flair and pace outwide, he made up for it with his insane set piece and passing ability. Plus his stamina helped in defending out wide. Becks was not a gra gra player contrary to what some want us to believe. |

Mujtahida: I agree that Scholes, Giggs were better but when you compare Beckham and Finidi, I'd say Beckham was better in respect of crosses which essentially is what Finidi was also known for. Becks had a greater impact in that na 99 ucl win than both Giggs and Scholes. My brother was a die hard man united fan and we recorded their games those days. Becks was great. He had 24 assists that season. Look at his numbers and they were quite impressive. Becks Vision and passing is far better than Finidis. |

Martz101: not people thinking but it was the truth, in that era there were alot of very good players and beckham ain't suppose to be mention around them.
Bbc and English made it look like he was maradona, beckham was not even Man U best player then Beckham from 99 - 02 was probably the second best midfielder in man united after Roy Keane. It's a myth that he was only good at crossing. He was a superb passer, had an above average touch, great vision and crazy stamina. Yeah he didn't have the flair and Skill of Figo, but he was a VERY good player. His best position was as a CM. Didn't have the pace and skill to beat defenders on the flanks. |

forgiveness: Bundesliga sides were after him but he went for Championship team!
Na wa ooooooo.
Anything that rocks his boat.
But I think Rohr has guaranteed him a place in the National team even if he plays in Afghanistan hence the need to ignore a Bundusliga team for a Championship team.
No wonder some of these players loves to be bench warmers association because their places is guaranteed in the National team.
Anyway, I think Championship is ok but Stoke city!? Money talks. Like Goldfish80 said, I think the Stoke offer was too good to turn down. Wouldn't surprise me if he's getting like 45-55k pw...it's the only reason I can see him rejecting Bundesliga sides for Stoke |

My 2cent You have a point sha. I think it all came down to money. Bundesliga sides were after him too. |

goldfish80: Maybe they made an offer he could not refuse. Also, Stoke might have other targets who they could sign hence, the offer might not be on the table after world cup. Also, playing in the world cup can go both ways, he could have a bad tournament or get injured, he may as well be a revelation thereby increasing his market value. Stoke took a chance on him and he took a chance on Stoke. Hopefully, it will be a win-win situation for everyone. Yeah probably. Apparently he rejected moves to Bundesliga sides for them. I'm just not sure if Stoke can bounce back up straight away. They've been very poor in the transfer market and aren't as organized as before. |
