Remember the Christian street preacher who had his Bible wrested from him as he was handcuffed and taken away by police a few weeks back?. He has now been awarded £2,500 for wrongful arrest.

Oluwole Ilesanmi, 64, has welcomed the payout by the Metropolitan Police as a victory for freedom of speech after he was wrongly accused of Islamophobia.

The former dentist was preaching outside Southgate Tube station in North London in February when he was approached by two officers. A passer-by had earlier called police and accused Mr. Ilesanmi of hate speech.

He admitted to having described Islam as an ‘aberration’ but insists he was simply expressing his point of view as a Christian rather than denigrating Muslims. One of the police officers claimed Mr. Ilesanmi was disturbing the peace, saying: ‘No one wants to hear that. They want you to go away.’

He was handcuffed before the officer gave a thumbs-up to the camera. Mr. Ilesanmi was then bundled into a police car and driven several miles away. There the grandfather was ‘de-arrested’ and let out of the car.

Scotland Yard has now agreed to pay Mr. Ilesanmi £2,500 for wrongful arrest and his humiliating and distressing treatment.

Mr. Ilesanmi told UK's The Mail on Sunday: ‘I believe God loves everyone, including Muslims, but I have the right to say I that I don’t agree with Islam we are living in a Christian country, after all. I was upset when they took away my Bible.

They just threw it in the police car. They would never have done that if it had been the Koran.

A Nigerian man has accused soldiers in Aba of assaulting and forcefully shaving off some parts of his hair for no reason.

According to a video of him crying out over his ordeal in the hands of the soldiers, the young man showed off the strokes of cane he received as well just because of his looks.

Founder of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Agbala Itura Lagos, Prophet Samuel Abiara, has advised embattled Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) to seek the face of God for restoration.

Abiara said with the help of God, he can overcome the rape accusation against him by celebrity photographer Busola Dakolo.

The Cleric in a statement advised COZA members to however stand by their pastor in this trying times, adding that God is the only judge.

He also warned the accusers to be wary of their utterances, adding that the rape accusation is a dent on the body of Christ.

Abiara said:

“Fatoyinbo will overcome if he goes before God and iron things out. I believe God will talk to him and restore him.

The Nigerian Army on Sunday said soldiers seen at the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) in Abuja were not there to provide security or harass protesters

Army spokesperson Sagir Musa told news men the military is holding an inter-denominational service across the country today, and soldiers are expected to take part in the worship.

The comments followed an enquiry about why soldiers were present at an ongoing demonstration against Biodun Fatoyinbo, COZA’s lead preacher now under fire for alleged rape.

At least four soldiers were seen carrying out cordon activities at the protest, which was organised and allegedly attended by women.

Following the now trending hashtag, #PastorStepDown, on social media wherein pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo of the Common Wealth Zion Assembly has been called to step down from heading the church until a full investigation is launched into the allegation of rape levied against him by Busola Dakolo, wife of Singer Dakolo, the church has reacted.

The church which reacted in a statement it made public on its Twitter handle said the Devil is clearly at work before going on to advice member of the public to stop trending the hashtag or face God’s wrath.

For those of you tweeting #PastorStepDown please desist from this, and don’t mention @BiodunFatoyinbo in this. The Devil is clearly at work here, and God will surely bring all you doing this should stop now, or face the wrath of God. .

Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, founder of the Commonwealth Zion Assembly (COZA), has said that he is unhappy about rape scandal surrounding his ministry this came as he announced the suspension of a seven days programme of the church, saying the “Holy Spirit” directed him to do so.
