The police in Lagos state have arrested a 28 year old man, Anudumoapo Aiodun, for allegedly raping and defiling an eight year old girl.

A statement released by the state police command spokesperson, Bala Elkana, says that on Saturday June 15th at about 5.00pm, men of the Bariga Police Station received a complaint from a woman (Name withheld) that her eight years old daughter (Name withheld) was raped by their neighbour.

A team of detectives from the Family Support Unit promptly arrested the suspect.

The victim was taken to General Hospital for medical treatment and forensic examination.

Bala added that Investigation is ongoing and that the suspect will be charged to court soon.

A man, Ahmed Rufai Isah has cried out on twitter after his friend's 2-year-old daughter was raped.

He wrote:
“I am really angry right now. My friend just called me that his daughter that is not fully 2 years old yet got raped. Man is crying and needs help.

I have placed a few calls but at this point we need all the help we can get.

I don't think I am okay right now. Such a child. What has she done to the world to deserve this madness?

I thank you for your messages, support and to those who reached out. We are working with the right folks to do the right things to ensure justice is done”.

A lady has been reported to the authorities after brutalizing her 7-year-old housemaid in Lagos.

The incident happened on Friday, at Adenola, Ketu, Lagos state. The lady had accused the little girl of allowing her child fall down, hence the beating.

However, when neighbors came to rescue girl, the remorseless suspect started attacking them in order to prevent them from making a video of her.

A good number of people were seen gathered outside a building which is alleged to be the headquarters of Loom in Lagos.

Victor John, suspected member of a kidnapping synidcates using military camouflages to carry out their operations in Ondo State has been arrested.

John, 38, was apprehended by the Anti-kidnapping Squad of the Nigeria Army, 32 Artillery Brigade of Owena barrack, Akure.
A military source confirmed John's arrest in a telephone conversation with SaharaReporters on Tuesday morning.

He said the suspected was arrested at Ore in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state during a stop-and-search operation by the men of the Nigerian Army.

According to the source, the items found on John includes a fake military Identity card and one locally-made gun.

He explained that the suspect would be handed over to the police for prosecution in accordance with the law.

Senator-Elect Ike Ekweremadu has joined joined the race to be the Deputy President of the Senate with his shocking nomination to stand for election.

Ekweremadu who never spoke of his intentions in the rundown to the elections was however nominated by senator-elect Chukwuka Utazi, a nomination which he (Ekwerenmadu) accepted.

His nomination came after the Nomination of Senator-elect Ovie Omo Agege of the APC to stand for the position of the Deputy Senate President.

As at the time of the report, the newly elected President of the 9th Senate, Sen. Ahmed Lawan was already presiding over the inaugural session while lawmakers were set to commence voting to determine who would be the Deputy Senate President.

Ogechi, a final year student of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, and one other person have been killed after a speeding tipper rammed into a tricycle, while trying to overtake another tipper, this morning, in front of the St Peter Catholic Church, Oko.

The tricycle driver and one other passenger, however, survived with serious injuries. The driver of the tipper was said to have fled immediately the incident occurred.

Ogechi was heading to school for her final year clearance, when tragedy struck.

For allegedly pressuring him to join the dreaded Baga Confraternity, a suspect, Izuchukwu Ifeacho, has confessed to stabbing one Iruchukwu Nnebe to death.

A statement by the Enugu State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, indicated that Ifeacho, a native of Amankpunato in the Oji-River Local Government Area of Enugu State, killed the deceased, a native of the same community, on Friday, May 31, 2019, in self-defence.

Amaraizu said the deceased, a member of the Baga Confraternity, was reported to have been disturbing the suspect to join his group, but Ifeacho allegedly refused and avoided him.

However, on Friday, May 31, the deceased and other members of his group reportedly trailed the suspect to a shop where he had gone to eat in the night at Amankpunato and told him, “Today, Korofo will suck blood since he does not want to join them.”

Amaraizu quoted the suspect to have told the police that after the deceased and his group members started beating him, he escaped from them, picked up a kitchen knife and returned to the sceneand stabbed Nnebe.

The PPRO said Nnebe was later rushed to the hospital for medical attention and was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
He added that the corpse of the deceased had been deposited in the Oji-River General Hospital mortuary.

Two security guards identified as Ayuba Idris and Taisu Abubakar have been arrested over the murder of their employer, Kwakye Kwaku Richard, 71, and his daughter Kwakye Tope, 27, in Akure, Ondo State.

However, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Undie Adie, said the suspected killers were employed as guards by the deceased. Idris, 20, was arrested in Kano State on May 16, 2019 and the handset and suits of the deceased were recovered from him.

Detectives also tracked down the other suspect, Abubakar, in Sokoto State and one of the deceased’s laptop computers and some clothes were recovered from him.

The suspect thereafter led detectives to a building at Ojomo Akintan Estate, Olu Foam area along Ilesha-Owo expressway, Akure, where the decomposed bodies of Richard and Tope were found.

The CP said, upon interrogation, they confessed to the murder of the victims because he refused to pay their three months’ salary arrears. They also decided to kill the daughter because she saw them the day they killed her father.

Toyosi Ogunseye, the head of BBC West Africa, has emerged the vice-president of World Editors Forum (WEF).

She was elected on Saturday, at the annual meeting of WEF in Scotland. Ogunseye will deputise Warren Fernandez, editor of the Straits Times and editor-in-chief of Singapore Press Holdings’ English, Malay and Tamil Media Group.
