Two persons – Arewa Adekunle (aka Barrister Tania Rivera) and Kadiri Yusuf Kayode – were on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, found guilty and sentenced to jail terms in offences filed against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan zonal office.

The duo respectively bagged six months and four months imprisonment before Justices Joyce Abdulmalik and P. I. Ajoku of the Federal High Court of the Ibadan Judicial Division.

The convicts had pleaded guilty to the separate one-count amended charges preferred against them by the EFCC which were products of the plea bargain proposed by their lawyers and agreed to by the commission.

The charges border on fraud and fraudulent impersonation.

Apart from bagging a jail term, Arewa was said to have already refunded the sum of $200 USD (Two Hundred United States American Dollars) as restitution to the victim of his fraud. He will also forfeit his HP Laptop and iPhone 6s to the federal government.

Nine suspected pirates comprising three Greece citizens, an American and five blacks have been arrested during a joint operation by the Nigerian Navy and United States Coast Guard.The suspects were nabbed when their vessel was stopped within the Nigerian waters while the navy combed the Western Naval Command area of the Gulf of Guinea, under ‘Operation Junction Rain’.

Upon a search of the vessel, the naval operatives recovered four military assault rifles (Bernelli MR-1) loaded with magazines, about 1,000 live ammunition in a box and other hidden exhibits including various communication gadgets, which they earlier denied they had while being interrogated.

The Officer in tactical command of the operation, Commodore Dickson Olisemenogor, said further investigation to unravel others behind the illegal operations of the vessel on the Nigerian waters would continue and those found culpable would be handed over to the concerned agencies for prosecution.

He added that another barge with 10 crew members suspected to be oil thieves was stopped and the crew members were arrested during the operation.

A female corps member, Magdalene Yohanna has collapsed at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp and later died few minutes after she was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi.

According to a report Independent Nigeria, the tragedy occurred barely four days after the 2019 Batch “A” corps members reported for the three weeks orientation course at the Wailo NYSC camp in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

It was gathered that on that fateful morning of April 1, Miss Magdalene had reportedly complained to NYSC officials about her protracted asthma illness and how she would not be fit to attend the ‘morning meditation’ but her complainants fell on deaf ears.

Against her will, she was forced to attend the ‘meditation’ and collapsed a few minutes later. She was immediately attended to by corps member doctors and nurses, but when attempts to resuscitate her were not yielding results, she rushed to ATBUTH to save her life.

Further inquiries from medical doctors at the hospital concerning what could have led to the untimely death of Miss Magdalene had no answers as they were not authorized to speak to anyone about her demise.

It was learned that Miss Magdalene Yohanna, an orphan, sponsored her education throughout her higher institution. She has been buried at her home town in Kaduna amidst tears and pain.

An American-based woman identified as Joy Finley, has revealed how she almost lost her life as a result of excessive use of birth control.

According to the young lady, she began bleeding and a check up by the doctors revealed that the birth control pills she was using affected her uterus.

Taking to her Facebook page, she wrote:

My Birth control almost killed me literally. So boom story time…. since March 3 I was on my period and didn’t stop bleeding until April 6th, that never happened to me so I made a doctors appointment to figure out why I was bleeding so heavy. Turns out my IUD moved out of my uterus. So yesterday Monday the 8th I got my IUD taken out and they replaced it with a new one. But my body rejected the first one, so my smart self should have thought more before trying to put another one in there. So like 25 min go by I get home and I started vomiting viciously I was having hot flashes, passing out.

I went back to the emergency room Monday night around 7pm and they said the new IUD was being pushed out my uterus what the hell i had to stay in the hospital to make sure my uterus was not infected I was in excruciating pain and this post is not for sympathy it is honestly to educate all my ladies out there all these hormones are unnatural and could be fatal. I literally almost lost my life just because I didn’t wanna end up pregnant. Now I’m moving forward and going #birthcontrolfree I refuse to be a victim. Now I’m going to play it safe and take better care of my body nothing unnatural is going in me ever again. Ladies please educate yourself about the birth control you are using I don’t want you to go through this !! #iud #iudremoval

84-Year-Old Ambassador To US Asked To Retire By Nigerians, For Being Old For The Job


84-year-old Nigerian Ambassador to the U.S, Sylvanus Nsofor asked to resign by Nigerians, after seeing him fidgeting during a walk with the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele at an event in Washington DC.

Recall that the United States once rejected the former Justice, for not being a “dynamic and energetic person”.

His nomination two years ago, as an Ambassador to the U.S also sparked controversy when President Buhari sent his name to the Nigerian Senate.

The man who's claimed to be poor but a man of integrity, earned notoriety during his membership of the Appeal Court panel that decided the election tussle between Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), and Olusegun Obasanjo, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who was declared winner of the 2003 presidential election.

Of the three justices on the panel, he alone did not endorse the final judgement upholding Obasanjo’s victory.
