She was said to have delivered the strange creature at the General Hospital in the town through a Cesarean Section in the hospital at about 2.15 pm lastThursday. The birth of the fearful baby caused a stir in the hospital as medical officials were seen discussing the strange birth , while others trooped to the hospital from the town andneighbouring communities to see the"strange baby'' Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr. Wole Olugboji, confirmed the delivery. His words; "There was a woman who gave birth to a strange baby at General Hospital Iyin. The baby is dead but the mother is okay." He said the mother of thebaby was still unconscious due to the sedation administered to her before the CS to ensure she did not see the creature. The commissioner noted that the strange birth was quickly disposed off to save the parents from embarrassment. Vanguard gathered that the woman's husband was present in the delivery room and approved of the quick burial of the strange creature. A source at the hospital told Vanguard that the strange ‘baby’ hastwo bulging eyes and few strand of hair on the forehead. The creature had no brain. Its head was open at the back and you can see mucus inside the head instead of brain. It was a strange creature that nobody seems to have seen before." Another source said that the creature was very tiny at birth. The delivery was abnormal as the fluid which was drained from the mother's body was in excess. The baby must have been deformed due to the effects of some drugs or herbs. That is why we always ask pregnant women not to take any drug unless prescribed by a qualified doctor. We cannot rule it out that the deformity might have been caused by concoction. It is possible." room and approved of the quick burial of the strange creature. He said these unidentified people have been going around with some individuals who claim to be surveyors from the Lands Department of Lagos State, adding that it has also been discovered that the same people have been holding clandestine meetings with other individuals and groups within the same community. An example of such is the meeting, he said, held in the town with someone claiming to be a member of the Executive Council of Lagos State government. “But for the quick intervention of the Lenuwa of Ode-Omi, the meeting would have been used to seek the indirect approval of the people of the area to be subsumed into Lagos State,” Mr Aiyebusiwa said. “We learnt that the people have been promised the headquarters of a would-be Ode-Omi Local Government Council with an indigene of Ode-Omi as the local government council Chairman. Another is the extension of the road being constructed from Lagos State to Ode-Omi.” Both Lagos and Ogun states are governed by politicians of the Action Congress of Nigeria, although there has been cases of border friction between the two in the past. End to neglect The traditional ruler of Ode Omi, Adenuga Okunniyi alongside four other traditional rulers in his domain, subsequently held a meeting with officials of the Ogun State government. The meeting unanimously agreed that Ode-Omi belongs to Ogun State and that the claim by Lagos State is unfounded. It also stated that the new administration in Ogun State is resolved to address the neglect of Ode-Omi people by the past administrations in the state. “Consequently, it approved immediate opening up of the area by fixing the 7-kilometre road leading to the community to facilitate movement of persons and goods, deployment of reasonable number of teaching staff to its schools and recruitment of at least 10 qualified indigenes of the community into the state public service,” the communiqué of the meeting said. |

Ogun raises alarm over attempt by Lagos to annex community By Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji August 12, 2011 07:57AM print email S
The Ogun State government yesterday raised alarm over alleged invasion of Ode-Omi community by some suspected Lagos State officials, which it said was done in a bid to seek the indirect approval of the people of the area to be subsumed into Lagos State. Ode-Omi is an oil rich community located in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of the state, which is bounded by Lagos and Ondo states. The caretaker chairman of the Council, Toyin Aiyebusiwa said it became paramount to bring to the public knowledge the activities of some people claiming to be agents or officials of the Lagos State government in Ode-Omi. He said these unidentified people have been going around with some individuals who claim to be surveyors from the Lands Department of Lagos State, adding that it has also been discovered that the same people have been holding clandestine meetings with other individuals and groups within the same community. Politics › "i Collected Bribe From Adenuga For El-rufai by edoyad(op): 10:52am On Aug 14, 2011 |
punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201108142265468 ‘I collected bribe from Adenuga for El-Rufai’ By Oluwole Josiah Sunday, 14 Aug 2011 The Senate Ad hoc Committee on Privatisation was on Saturday treated to a drama when a former Deputy Director of the Bureau of Public Enterprises, Mr. Charles Osuji, said he collected a bribe from Globalcom Chairman, Mike Adenuga for Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, after the sale of National Oil. Osuji, who brazenly admitted going to Adenuga on behalf of El-Rufai even when the transactions on the sale of National Oil had been concluded, said he acted on the directive of El-Rufai. He also said that when he brought the money to El- Rufai, he refused to collect it because, “Adenuga brought the money in bits and so it was incomplete.” According to Osuji, El-Rufai eventually ordered his dismissal from the BPE Although he did not disclose the amount that was given to him as bribe for El-Rufai, Osuji explained that he could not deliver the entire bribe sum because the money was given to him in bits. But El-Rufai in his reaction, told journalists that Osuji first brought a N25m Zenith Bank cheque to him. He said after he ordered Osuji to return the money to Adenuga, who had already acquired National Oil, Osuji subsequently returned with $100,000 cash which he did not accept. El-Rufai, “I reported the matter to the Vice President who was the Chairman of the NCP, and he and the then Attorney General, Bola Ige requested that Osuji be prosecuted.” The former FCT minister said Osuji could not be prosecuted because Ige died shortly after that, but the NCP directed that he should be dismissed. Chairman of the committee, Ahmed Lawan and members of the committee were shocked to hear the story and they said Osuji should have been arrested and prosecuted for his actions. Lawan said, “This is sad. A deputy director collected money for BPE, if this is happening in BPE, it is additional misery for Nigeria. He should have been arrested and prosecuted.” |
