Lana1: Abegi. No dey try justify the rubbish u wrote. Even a deaf & blind man knows ur post was directed towards United bcoz United and City were the only teams in big 4 who won their opening games last season. So unless u now taking shots at City, i implore u to kip kwayet and use whatever u have inside that ur bald head to think b4 clogging up the forum with nonsense
I don't like to descend to Europa cup teams fans' level because time now, you guys will be fraternizing with your real mates. All those Eastern European Agberos na them be your equals
Lana1: Some of u Arsenal fans ll say anything just to take away the pain of Sunday's defeat. Even if it means lieing and saying rubbish. How was United top of the league after matchday one last season??
I'm sure you missed singular and plurals on the day it was taught in school, else why would anyone arrogate the description,"those clubs" to one singular Europa cup entity
Serge Gnabry holding his own at the Olympics, has done a nice job thus far.
As for the season, well, the best we can hope for is top four to be honest. ESPN revealed we were the lowest scorers among top four teams in the EPL, if they're no plans to fix that , you can't seriously think of competing for the league with our type of defense
Just wishing fellow fans a wonderful season ahead. Hopefully, you guys will not be misled this time around by that False prophet, Rev Adelana to think you actually have a chance of winning the league. Just take baby steps for now and in the near future, say 15 or 16 years, Man U will be competitive again
obailala: It is pathetic how people keep making comparisons about how Nigeria's economy was wonderful under GEJ but now dead under Buhari; while these people claim to possess some intellects, one can't help but wonder why their intellects doesn't put the drastic fall in oil prices into consideration when drawing up their analysis about a country whose income is 90% from oil.
Is this the first time Nigeria has experienced a drop in oil price. Google oil prices since the return of democracy and see how OBJ and NOI steered this country through almost $20 per barrel
LoveMachine: I prefer cordial journalists. The whole interruption schtick is corny and played out. He tries to embarrass people through intimidation because it's his platform.
A man's viewpoint if superior can stand on its own. He shouldn't have to badger his counterpart to prove his point.
If you've been watching hard talk over the years you'd know that's the style, regardless of who's being interviewed.
LoveMachine: The 1st page circle jerk wreaks of inferiority. The journalist was rude and cut BRF right before he could make his point every time. Fash did a great job by keeping cool and not giving the guy a spectacle like he wanted. He started sweating cause he was visibly holding back anger from the unprofessional blindside journalism. The host is a joke. Shoutout to DuroFashy for once again defending Naija.
Hahaha, so na Steven Sackur be unprofessional now abi ? Issorite, na you get your hand
Trust Reno to dig into the archives to find fodder for his online battles . Apparently Abu Sidiqu wrote a scathing article on Jonathan during the 2014 campaign season, well the chickens are back home I guess.
yimikaa: When you owe 11billion, you have no choice than to turn into and inpromptu lecturer
Try to understand that every serious business has debts. Donald Trump has debts, Nigeria Brewery has debts and even Dangote too..
Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON, yesterday, announced the take-over of Bulk Pack Services Limited, a beverage package manufacturer and supplier, affiliated to the Dangote Group. Head Corporate Communications, AMCON, Mr. Jude Nwauzor, announced this decision in a statement, yesterday. He said: “Bulk Pack Services Limited, a beverage package manufacturer and supplier owned by Alhaji Sani Dangote, the younger brother of Alhaji Aliko Dangote, was taken over by Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON, yesterday, as part of the corporation’s recovery efforts. “The Receiver, Mr. Urua Essien, confirmed that he took effective control of the company, following the failure of the company to repay their outstanding debt. The Receiver immediately sealed off the premises of the company located at Dangote Regi
The problem is when you can't meet up with the repayment schedule agreed upon at signing of the contract. I bought my first car with a loan, I was indebted for 3 years but guess what ? I paid it back before I sold it and bought another one.
In his new common sense video on YouTube, the Bayelsa senator supports reduction of federal allocation to states and urges further reduction so that greedy politicians who want to have access to easy money to loot will stay away. He cited Anambra state which is now using Agriculture to boost it's economy inspite of the fact that it has little land mass plagued by erosion. The video is a challenge to Most states , especially North Central states with Large Arable land but with orangutans as governors.
PS: His new moustache makes him look like a gigolo
Well His boss might no longer be in power but he's still biting as hard as he can at the current regime . Read what he posted below on a social media platform, of course you know who is referring to. My question is, don't you think it's too early to pass judgement on this regime ?
hungryboy: Very idiotic comparison, 500naira in Norway or Hong Kong will not buy you a plate of food at a cheap restaurant or even transport fare to work , Minimum wage in Norway starts from $12 an hour and rises higher depending on your skills and industry you are working in, So someone in Norway can easily spend 500naira(which is not even upto $2 now), without blinking an eyelid,
Remember, Our minimum wage down here is 18k a month, And many are paid even lower than that. So we share nothing in common with those countries.
Then what is the Minimum wage in Guinea, Burkina Faso, Ghana , Zimbabwe etc since those are the countries around us ?
drss2: yet d rate of suffering in d con3 has trippled in d last one year.
It tripled cos we are used to cheap fuel and cheap imported goods.Workers in Burkina Faso, Guinea , Ghana , Zimbabwe etc earn less than Nigerian workers but they still buy fuel at over 200 Naira.
Despite the recent 68 per cent hike in petrol price, Nigeria’s retail pump price of N145 per litre of petrol ranks among the lowest in the world. A review of retail prices of petrol in 175 countries shows that Nigeria has the 13th least petrol price at approximately $0.50, or N145 per litre, according to GlobalPetrolPrices.com. Kuwait has the lowest petrol price in the world, at $0.21 or N61.37 per litre. The world’s costliest petrol prices are found in Hong Kong (N535.38 per litre), Norway (N490.19) and Iceland (N474.76). Most countries with the lowest petrol prices belong to the 14-member Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), namely Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Qatar, Iran, Ecuador, United Arab Emirates, Nigeria, Indonesia, Venezuela, Iraq, Libya, Gabon and Angola. But when it comes to the price of fuel, Nigeria’s standing is not so impressive in OPEC and Africa. Of 14 OPEC countries reviewed, Nigeria has the sixth most expensive rate. Also, despite Nigeria’s reputation as Africa’s biggest producer of hydrocarbons, petrol is cheaper in Algeria than in Nigeria.
Petrol sells for $0.28, or N80.94 per litre, in that North African country. In Africa generally, the fuel sells for the highest rate in Zimbabwe, at N371.70 per litre. Fuel hike Nigeria’s latest fuel price raise in May 2016 was as usual met with resistance from the organized labour. Eventually, the government prevailed. Many Nigerians argue that as a top producer of oil and gas, Nigeria has no business selling petrol to his citizens at exorbitant rates. The government says its fuel subsidy programme that drove the price down had been abused and was fueling massive corruption. Part of the corruption sees marketers and dealers smuggling subsidized fuel into nearby countries where they sell at higher prices. Data from GlobalPetrolPrices.com shows that all the countries bordering Nigeria, particularly in the Economic Community of West Africsn States (ECOWAS), have some of the highest fuel prices. Some of Nigeria’s neighbours include Cameroun, where petrol is sold at N308.77 per litre; Burkina Faso (N354.51), Gambia (N347.84), Senegal (N336.40), Mali (N328.17), Guinea (N280.89), Ivory Coast (N275.89), Ghana (N260.90), Niger (N255.80), Liberia (N240.17), Togo (N218.78), Chad (N219.71), and Sierra Leone (N191.28).
Just received these pics from a corper in Benue. The Airforce wives were launching a "Kindergarten" in Makurdi, Benue today and they could use 4 Air Force planes to fly their wives to the program. However our Olympic team needed an American pruvate Airline to be charitable to us, when will we change ?. Aisha Buhari was expected to be there but couldn't attend since she's out of the country. Good luck to our eagles all the same
Oche211: While so many of us are looking for opportunity to serve our country, these ones are leaving over money nd allowances. Service to your country shld be selfless. What if they had gone for an operation nd they are told the usual "u are on your own from now on". Them go say northerners want to kill them. Anyway, their leaving is good, the weak ones are the one that left, nw let the brave build a stronger organization.
While I agree with you that there is a bit of greed being exhibited by those abandoning their posts I dont think those ones might be the weak ones are thinking. If you have visited foreign embassies in Nigeria you would notice the professionalism of their Nigerian staff. I doubt American embassy would pick from the bottom of the crop.
ABUJA— A gale of resignation has hit the Department of State Services, DSS, in recent times, forcing the management of the service to temporarily place a moratorium on further voluntary resignation from personnel of the service. DSS OPERATIVES Investigations by Vanguard at the headquarters of the Nigerian secret police indicated that in the last 10 months, no fewer than 70 middle cadre and junior cadre officers had resigned from the service, both from the state commands and the national headquarters.
While some of the officers resigned because they got better offers of employment from, especially embassies of western nations, others resigned because of unfavourable terms of employment they alleged had pervaded the service since the take over of the present Director General of the agency, Mallam Lawal Musa Daura.
one of the staff who resigned two weeks ago, told Vanguard: “The condition of service is no longer favourable. Some allowances that we were entitled to were stopped, while others were cut in half without explanation. “Most importantly, operation allowances that we used to enjoy were stopped without any reason. And we were still expected to put in our best. If I cannot be treated well while in service, how will my family be treated well when I am dead? It’s unfortunate that I had to leave after so much has been invested in me by this country.’’
Another personnel who said he would also leave in the next few months, told Vanguard that the condition of service was no longer palatable. “During the last dispensation, the service personnel were well motivated to do their job. We embark on dangerous covert assignments to keep the nation safe and all that we get in return is insults and suspicion from the leadership of the service. Fortunately, most of us are well trained so our services are needed by those countries that helped in training us. We cannot be jobless. If you get a better offer, it’s only natural to move” he said.
Another complain given by those who left is that “there appears to be no future in remaining. When I joined the service, it was like one family. There was no regional or ethnic segmentation. What we have seen so far is perception of actions or inactions from the prism of where one comes from. We were told during training that your competence will make or mar you. That promise has been compromised .It’s no longer interesting” she said.
Vanguard gathered that at the last count, five of those personnel who left were absorbed by the American Embassy, ten by several banks and other financial institutions as head of security, while about four have joined oil companies. Worried by the steady resignation, the management of the service issued a circular through departmental heads and state Directors directing that voluntary resignation by service personnel should no longer be accepted until further notice. No member of the service was ready to speak on record and the service has no official spokesman since the last one, Marylyn Ogar left service.
However, a senior official of the service who spoke with vanguard in confidence claimed that the last dispensation exposed its personnel to unnecessary wealth “which is capable of compromising operational duties”
“There is no way the present leadership would have continued with the shenanigans that was perpetrated in the last dispensation. Apparently the leadership wants to return the service to its founding vision which is selfless service to the nation. It’s obvious that those who cannot fit in would naturally leave” he said. It will be recalled that DSS 65 cadet officers of the service who were undergoing training at the State Services Academy, SSA, in Lagos, including a sibling of the sacked former spokes person of the service, Marilyn Ogar were asked to leave in September last year, few weeks to their passing out.
No reason was given for their dismissal which was contained in a letter by the Director General of the Department of State Service, Lawal Daura. A senior officer of the service who is familiar with the matter told Vanguard then that their sack was “inevitable” because their recruitment process was “flawed.” He explained that “What happened was that recruitment of most of these cadets did not follow due process. They were brought into the service by politicians without meeting the stringent requirements set by the service in recruiting its personnel. They were dumped on the service by politicians through the active connivance of the past leadership of the service. We are re-organising the service so we cannot afford to have partisan political moles in our midst” the source said. The source who is a senior operative of the service said the process of “weeding undesirable elements” who found their way into the service was ongoing. The present leadership of the service is determined to reposition the service to its professional roles. There is nothing personal about the decision of the service. It was a very painful decision in view of the investment made on them but it was a decision that must be taken” he had said.
