nairalanda1: Many Nigerians never see real tax
They go to the UK, and see anemites and think the government sold 10 m barrels of oil and paid for all that...when the cold reality is that every city in the UK charges between 180-200 pounds in council tax, which you will pay on top of your income tax and VAT. That is how they can afford all those nice things in the uk.
But in Nigeria, we dey use oil money to fool ourselves. Even during GEJ time, people who knew, and who were not opposing GEJ, were shouting that the money we earned was not enough at all. pack go one side The UK this and That . How about Uae How about Saudi Arabia How about Qatar How about Brazil How about Botswana Namibia . This are low tax resources rich nations |

IyaTola: In today’s Nigeria, having one job is barely enough to survive, let alone thrive. The rising cost of living, stagnant wages, inflation, and lack of social support systems have forced many people to juggle two or even three jobs just to make ends meet.
What used to be considered “hustling” is now a basic survival strategy. From 9–5 jobs to weekend gigs, freelance work, small businesses, and online side hustles—this is the new face of the working Nigerian.
It’s not about ambition anymore—it’s about necessity.

nairalanda1: Income tax is different from VAT.
IN the UK, everyone also pays VAT, and everyone also pays income tax, and council tax.
In Nigeria, everyone pays VAT...on a minority of goods sold here (you don't pay VAT on goods sold in the market), only 19% pay income tax, and even smaller numbers pay things like local state tax, and council tax Is that the Heading Tax or Income tax ? With 80 percent unemployment rate where will the Income tax come from ? Ghosts abi |

By the way, Tinubu has been president for only two years, you cannot hold him responsible for the level of our GDP against Korea. Politics › Re: I’m Not Desperate To Be President, I Just Want Nigeria To Work - Peter Obi by Educationalserv: 10:03am On May 25, 2025 |
Metrix147: The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, has declared that he is not desperate to become Nigeria’s President, but rather desperate to see the country work effectively for the benefit of its citizens, ABN TV reports.
Obi made this known on Saturday during a special Anniversary Sabbath service held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Umuahia, Abia State, to commemorate two years of Governor Alex Otti's administration.
The former Anambra State Governor emphasized the challenges of leading a country like Nigeria, especially for leaders committed to doing what is right. He called on the people of Abia to pray for Governor Otti and members of his cabinet, stressing the importance of divine guidance in leadership.
“It is difficult to govern Nigeria or any of its states, especially when you are determined to do the right thing,” Obi stated. “When I say to people I am not desperate to be President, I am desperate to see Nigeria work.”
He urged Nigerians to consistently pray for their leaders, encouraging those in positions of authority to use public funds judiciously and for the collective good.
Obi commended Governor Otti for what he described as “two years with a difference,” noting that real change in governance does not necessarily require long tenures.
“People always say they need eight years, ten years, or even twenty years to make an impact. But I have always said that one day can make a difference. What is happening in Abia today, we want to see it happen everywhere in Nigeria,” he remarked.
In his response, Governor Alex Otti attributed the progress made by his administration in the past two years to divine guidance and strength from God. He expressed gratitude to Peter Obi for his consistent support, and also appreciated the Abia State legislature, judiciary, and members of the Church for their prayers and encouragement.

PresidObi: Too many differences.
For one, putting Anambra state excess funds in an investment that will yield profits for the state is a masterstroke, only sophisticated leaders can do that, that's providing for your state in the future, while creating employment for the people of the state for many many years to come. It's people that work in those banks, it's the money that is powering the growth in Anambra today.
Putting money in an unneeded coastal road is wastfullness wearing an emilokan cap. We have other roads that are totally messed up with disrepair across Nigeria, and we are abandoning those for a coastal road to wear a white elephant an emilokan cap
And we even need to borrow billions of dollars to fund the unnecessary coastal road it seem you think your talking to a baby ? Saving Anarmbra money in Fedilty bank is not an investment he Lodge the money to give his Bank Corrupt advantage and boost his share . How can you call it Excess money ? When a strike was ongoing in Anambra .the Short sighted investing in Brewery has not yield any profit but lost in real Value Anarmbra was better off keepings the 75m USD in fixed deposit . In Normal clime OBi will be in prison for this . A Minster in Japa has resigned for saying he GE rice free when inflation is making things expensive |
Politics › Re: Nigerians Should Vote For Peter Obi, He Is The Most Competent Leader Today by Educationalserv: 8:20am On May 25, 2025 |
PresidObi: He did all these and more in Anambra state, the Anambra money is $75 million which he saved after doing an excellent governorship work for 8 years. He lodged the money in a Nigerian bank, under the Anambra state government account. If he owns a share in the bank, I think that's commendable, so he will have a say in how our money is being managed. Excellent decisions. The brewery investment with Anambra saved public funds us a job creator till today, Anambra people are employed in their thousands inside Anambra industry. This is killing two birds with one stone.
You guys making these feeble comments are just praising Peter Obi for his governmental genius. what is the difference with Tinibu Adward contract to Hi-Tech for Costal road Vs obi Put Anambra money inside Fidelity bank |
