Chief Dan Orbih, Edo State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday
said the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Godwin Obaseki, has nothing to offer the state if elected in the September 10 governorship poll.Speaking in an interview with Independent, Orbih, who expressed confidence that his party will triumph at the end of the exercise, said Obaseki should tender his original certificates instead of a sworn affidavit if he really possesses the qualifications he claims to have in his credentials.Orbih, who said Obaseki did not state where the certificates got missing, also wondered why he (Obaseki) did not make a formal report to the police when the certificates were misplaced.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has intensified its probe of the
immediate past Governor of Ebonyi State, Martin Elechi, over some alleged fraudulent contracts approved by his government.
Earlier in the year, the EFCC had received a series of petitions against Elechi’s government, causing the commission to invite the ex-governor and his son, Nnanna.
In continuation of the probe, the EFCC arrested a former Commissioner for Public Utilities in the state, Mr. Benjamin Okah, for his alleged role in a $12m contract awarded to a United States-based firm, Califco Group, in 2012.The EFCC said in a statement by its spokesman, Mr. Wilson uwujaren, that the state government paid $10.8m to the firm in 2012 as mobilisation fee but the project was abandoned.

The anti-graft agency said Okah allegedly received N83m as gratification through two of his companies.

The General Superintendent, Deeper Life Christian Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, has said that the country will experience change when individuals take steps within their circles of influence.

The clergy, who said he had just come back from a tour of some northern and southern states, added that he had spoken with some governors on the way forward in curbing religious crises.

Kumuyi spoke during a special Sunday service held at the International Bible Training Centre, Ayobo, Lagos.The service was attended by Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State.

The Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr Maikanti Baru, has dismissed reports that the corporation will soon announce an increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
A section of online media had reported that because of the high cost of foreign currencies, NNPC had concluded plans to increase the pump price of PMS from N145 per litre to between N170 and N200.
Baru, however, denied any knowledge of the price increase, saying that there was no directive to that effect.
He said that importers of the commodity had no justification to increase the price as their foreign exchange demands had been met and supply of the fuel was robust.
“I have not been directed to increase pump price, even the other price was based on recommendation from the regulatory body.
“I’m not aware that they are planning to do any increase, you know there are several factors that necessitated that ,especially the issue of exchange rate that has moved and we don’t expect any serious changes.
“So far the request for forex for importation of gasoline, popularly called petrol, has been met and our own supply situation is robust, we are meeting demands.’’
The managing director, however, revealed that Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) could review the prices of petroleum products when necessary.

A white man who apparently called police to complain about “hoodlums” near his house was charged with murder after he shot and killed a black man outside, authorities said.The shooting happened early Sunday morning when 39-year-old Chad Cameron Copley fired a shotgun from inside his garage and hit the victim, according to a Raleigh Police Department news release.
