MadamExcellency:
Stop comparing Ebonyi State and Abia State. Abia State is an economic and industrial hub in Eastern Nigeria. People come from Lagos State, Southwest, Southsouth and North to buy something from Aba.
Listen to yourself.
And when they come to buy those stuffs, they'll use the airport to transport it back?
PoliticsRe: Keyamo To Flag Off Abia Airport Construction – Commissioner by Edygrin(m):
Forget party affiliation or anything, all these politicians are the same.

Is an airport the immediate need of Abians? That's how Ebonyi built that white elephant project called an airport that only the governor uses.

There's an airport in Anambra and Imo, an International Airport in Enugu, another one in Uyo, Akwa Ibom which are all neighboring states, why then does Abia state need an airport again if not that the government is looking for a way to loot.

Instead of resorting to insults, it's better to defend your points with reasoned arguments. If you have an issue with Obi, you should address it through appropriate legal channels.

Building courthouses and building houses for judges are not the same thing. Similarly, constructing an assembly building is different from building houses for lawmakers. Each of these has distinct purposes and should be managed within their respective budgets to maintain the independence and proper functioning of each branch of government.
Going through your previous posts I realised you're a certified Wike hater, even wishing him harm, so there's no need replying you anymore.

When Peter Obi gave 21 SUVs to judges in Anambra, you never complained. I'm sure you'll tell me that he was doing it because the judges were tired of trekking but if it's Wike that means he's inducing them.

Well said Debo.

These cashivists know that the only time they get to make money is by protesting, so any small thing they call for protest, they have bastardized protests in Nigeria.

Dele's case is in court, he should provide evidence of the things he accused Afe Babalola of doing, at least to prove to Nigerians that he's reliable.

PoliticsAtiku, Peter Obi Have Learnt Their Lessons – Paul Ibe Hints On Merger by Edygrin(op): 9:32am On Dec 10, 2024
Paul Ibe, the spokesperson to the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has said that his principal and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, have learnt their lessons in the last general election and would unite to kick out the “incompetent and clueless” administration of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Ibe, a media to Atiku, said this as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Monday.

Atiku and Obi scored over 12 million votes combined in the 2023 presidential election won by APC’s Bola Tinubu who got over eight million votes.

Obi, a frontline member of the PDP and a longtime ally of Atiku, left the PDP for LP prior to the 2023 general election, when it was clear he would not get the party’s ticket.

Analysts believe that with their combined efforts, either the PDP or the LP would have removed the APC from power.

However, Ibe said that Atiku and Obi have learnt their lessons and won’t allow a repeat of their mistake in 2023 going forward.

Nigerians deserve better than what they are getting. It’s never been this bad in this country and there is no hope,” he said

"The truth of the matter is that Atiku Abubakar has promoted opposition parties to work together, to come together; that is the only way they can kick out this incompetent and clueless government. And I believe that discussions have been going on.

Lessons have been learnt from 2023 by all parties including Atiku Abubakar and I believe that it is on the basis of the lessons that have been learnt that they are moving forward and having discussions.

They have learnt that lesson and want to be united and go forward,” he stated.

He said for Atiku, “all options are on the table”, but refused to provide an answer to the question of whether the former Vice President would step down for Obi in the 2027 election.

It seems like you need everything spelled out clearly to understand. The concept of separation of powers is straightforward: each branch of government (Executive, Judiciary, and Legislative) should operate independently. Why isn't Wike building houses for House of Representatives members and Senators, but only for judges? This inconsistency shows a disregard for the principle of separation of powers, which ensures that each branch manages its own affairs and budgets independently.
Did he break any law by building those houses?
PoliticsNigerians Will Kick APC Out Like Ghanaians Did NPP – PDP by Edygrin(op): 9:18am On Dec 10, 2024
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says Nigerians will vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, the way the New Patriotic Party, NPP, was kicked out in the just concluded Ghana elections.

DAILY POST reports that on Monday evening, the electoral commission of Ghana declared Mahama as the winner of the presidential election held on Saturday.

Mahama defeated the incumbent Ghana’s vice-president and candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, Mahamudu Bawumia.

Previously president between 2012 and 2017, Mahama garnered 6.3 million votes- 56.5 percent of votes cast.

Reacting in a statement, PDP spokesperson, Debo Ologunagba said the victory of John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, was a clear demonstration of the triumph of the power of the people over misrule and oppressive policies of government as now being witnessed in Nigeria under the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Ologunagba alleged that the economic policies of the APC government had sent many Nigerians into poverty.

The verdict of the people of Ghana in this presidential election is a signal to the APC that its days in office are numbered, as the power of the people in Nigeria, just like in Ghana, will surely prevail, end the APC’s oppressive rule, and return Nigeria to the path of good governance, security, political stability, and economic prosperity on the platform of the PDP in 2027.

"Also unacceptable to Nigerians is that our once-thriving nation, which ranked as a preferred destination for international foreign investment capital and one of the world’s fastest-growing economies under the PDP, has been brought to its knees by the APC with decayed infrastructure, a comatose economy, worsening insecurity, and social uncertainties occasioned by ill-conceived and ill-implemented macroeconomic policies.

"More distressing is that while Nigerians are subjected to harrowing hardship, APC leaders remain unconcerned and unaccountable, imposing harsh taxes and recklessly looting the nation’s treasury to finance their luxury appetites and consumption while arrogantly treating Nigerians as though they are a conquered people,” he said.

gare:
The importance of the separation of powers and budgetary independence among the three arms of government: the Executive, the Judiciary, and the Legislative. The argument is that each branch should manage its own affairs within its allocated budget to maintain autonomy and prevent undue influence or dependency.

When the Executive branch, represented by individuals like Wike, takes on responsibilities typically managed by the Judiciary, it raises concerns about overreach and undermines the independence of the Judiciary. Such actions might set a precedent that could erode the principle of checks and balances.

If the Executive builds houses for the Judiciary, consistency would require similar support for the Legislative arm, which is not the norm.
This inconsistency could lead to perceptions of favoritism or misuse of executive power.

While the intention behind building houses for judges might be well-meaning, it's crucial to uphold the principles of separation of powers and budgetary independence to maintain the integrity and effective functioning of government institutions. Encouraging each branch to manage its own affairs within its budget can prevent potential overreach and ensure a balanced and fair governance system.
If this same government decide to go after the previous Chief justices who refused to take care of judges under them I'm sure you will be part of those that'll say the government is trying to intimidate the judiciary.

There's nothing this government will do that there won't be criticism, reason I love how Wike is going about it, he doesn't listen to you all.

What's wrong with Wike building houses for judges?

The president is living in a palatial palace in Aso Rock, the vice president just built himself a mansion using billions of tax payers money, the senators and HoR members are living in large houses also, why then should our judges live like peasants?

Or is it only when it's Wike?

Those criticizing Wike should start with their state governors who have built houses and even bought SUVs for their state judges.

PoliticsDele Farotimi: Sowore Condemns Peter Obi’s Visit To Afe Babalola by Edygrin(op): 7:45am On Dec 10, 2024
Human rights activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore, has condemned the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi over his visit to legal luminary, Aare Afe Babalola SAN.

This is coming hours after Peter Obi’s closed door meeting with Afe Babalola.

As part of the visit to Ekiti state, Obi also had some sessions with the detained activist, Dele Farotimi in prison on Monday evening.

Reacting to the visit on his X handle on Monday night, Sowore wrote “I condemn those who went to ‘beg’ Chief Afe Babalola today over unjust detention and persecution of DeleFarotimi. The delegation led by PeterObi did colossal injustice to the struggle to drain the swamp of judicial criminality in our country.

Obi’s action is like forcing Rosa Parks to return to the back of the bus of racial injustice during the civil rights era in the United States! The struggle continues!FreeDeleFarotimiNow.

DAILY POST reports that Obi’s visit was reportedly arranged by a prominent Yoruba leader to find an amicable resolution to the legal issue between Babalola and Farotimi.

Farotimi, who was arrested in Lagos on Tuesday, was arraigned before a magistrate court in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday on a 16-count charge of defamation of character against Afe Babalola.

On Friday, December 6, 2024, the Nigerian police filed fresh cybercrime charges against Farotimi at the Federal High Court in Ekiti.

The Federal High Court on Monday December 9 granted Farotimi N50 million bail.

As of the time of filing this report, his team is still working on perfecting his bail conditions.

PoliticsImo State Having Lowest Record In VAT Evidence Of Dying Economy In The SE – PDP by Edygrin(op): 8:49am On Dec 09, 2024
The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Imo State Chapter, has alleged that the recently released data on Value Added Tax, VAT, as generated across the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, remains a vindication of its previous stand on the dwindling fortunes of Imo economy under Governor Hope Uzodinma’s watch.

Imo PDP in a press release signed by its state publicity secretary, Lancelot Obiaku, and made available to newsmen, alleged that the Governor’s leadership style had made the state “unattractive to investors.”

The party wondered how the State allegedly generated the lowest VAT revenue in the whole Federation of Nigeria, adding that even the second worst performing State, Zamfara, generated N432.80 million compared to Imo’s N235.41 million, an amount the PDP described as not only the lowest in the whole country but also “paltry.”

"To illustrate the dire state of Imo’s economy, the State generated the lowest VAT revenue in the entire Federation, with a paltry N235.41 million.

This amount is almost half of what the second worst-performing State, Zamfara, generated (N432.80 million).

Before they blame it on insecurity…it is worth noting that the second-worst-performing State in the Southeast (Abia) generated three times more, while Ebonyi performed nearly ten times better, and Anambra recorded twenty times Imo’s VAT figure,” he said.

The publicity secretary of the party revealed that Imo’s VAT contribution was a mere 0.2 percent of what Lagos generated, which represents an embarrassing disparity, pointing out that in its analysis of the nexus between the VAT figures and performance of States’ economies, the State recorded what he described as very poor performance.

To be clear, VAT, a consumption tax levied on goods and services at each stage of production or distribution, is paid by consumers but collected by businesses and remitted to the government through the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

VAT ratio, therefore, is directly proportional to the productivity level and health of an economy.

"We are not in doubt that Imo’s dismal performance reflects the comatose state of its business environment and overall economy. Nothing can better mirror the state’s zero productivity,” the party declared.

Imo PDP also decried the alleged absence of what it called coherent economic blueprint to reverse the decline.

DAILY POST learnt that the hoodlums abducted over 50 women and children.

According to a community member, the gunmen stormed the village at about 1:30 am on Sunday with sophisticated weapons, moving house to house.

Everyone started running because the armed bandits have been targeting our village; later we discovered that more than 50 of our women were abducted,” he told DAILY POST.

Speaking further, he pointed out that the kidnapped victims included young girls and married women.

He appealed to the federal and the Zamfara State governments to deploy more military and security personnel to the axis to engage the terrorists.

However, efforts to get the reaction of State police command spokesman, ASP Yazid Abubakar was not successful as of the time of filing this report.

Politics‘Excessive Militancy’ – Segun Sowunmi Slams Kwankwasiyya Movement by Edygrin(op): 8:26am On Dec 09, 2024
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Segun Sowunmi, has launched a scathing criticism against the Kwankwasiyya Movement.

Sowunmi sees the movement as ‘excessive militancy’ which, according to him, is far behind principles of democracy.

DAILY POST reports that the Kwankwasiyya movement has its roots in the political career of politician and former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The movement derives its name from its leader’s last name, Kwankwaso.

Appearing as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Sowuumi criticized the movement, saying, “I’m sure you don’t want to know my view on the Kwankwasiyya movement. You don’t want to hear it.

PoliticsAdada Will Be First State To Be Created From South East – Reps, Member Obetta by Edygrin(op): 7:54am On Dec 08, 2024
The member representing Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Chidi Obetta, has stated that Adada State will be the first to be created from the South East.

Obetta, who made the assertion, weekend, during his 2nd Town Hall Meeting with his constituents at the Princess Alexandra Auditorium, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, said Nsukka is the only old province yet to become a state despite its large population and landmass.

He stated that he has co-sponsored a bill to amend the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in order to effect the creation of Adada State.

DAILY POST reports that apart from the proposed Adada State, there are also clamours for the creation of other states out of the present South-East. They include Etiti, Olu, Equity, Aba, Anim, among others.

However, Obetta declared that: “If there is any state that should be created from the South East, the first should be Adada State.

Since 1979, the people of the South East have endorsed the creation of Adada State.

If you look at it, Nsukka is the only old province that has not become a state.

Abakaliki, Awka and Owerri have all become states but as you can see, Nsukka Zone still remains a senatorial District.

With the large population and landmass, we deserve to become a state” the lawmaker said.

He stated that the town hall meeting was organized to enable his constituents appraise his stewardship in the National Assembly for the past one year and to also articulate the needs of his constituents in order to chart a new course for the future.

He further said that most of his legislative actions were geared towards economic growth and empowerment, job creation, poverty reduction and advocacy for projects that would impact his constituents positively.
