Your estimate is too conservative, it's SD 710 or go home, their most direct competition aka Nokia 8.1 don nack SD 710 already, as it is with Mi A2 vs Nokia 7 plus so it will be with Mi A3 vs Nokia 8.1, in case you don't know, Nokia 8.1 is the successor to Nokia 7 plus

Note 7 with SD 660 loading , God abeg do it let Xiaomi nack SD 710 on Mi A3 IJN, Amen!!!!!!!

I was having a discussion with one lady yesterday and she said she'll need a phone with a good camera to support her glam business so I recommended Xiaomi devices. She asked for the price of my RN5(with working gcam o), and after she heard the price, she said she'll better add some money and get an iphone 7s instead of spending such "huge" amount on a chinco phone. I just smiled and kept quiet.

This infatuation with iPhones sef, I will never understand it, Google pulled of the impossible with the Android platform, took an OS intended for cameras n retooled it for mobiles, came up with a strategy to accelerate it's adoption to catch up with iOS n added features way faster than iOS( believe it or not, right up to it's current version, you can not multitask an incoming call n being in an app on an iPhone). Yes along the way device fragmentation on the Android platform occurred but Google is fixing that right now with treble support n with the upcoming Fuchsia OS. My point is the reason people liked iOS in the first place are no longer valid today. Or maybe it's actually just about clout n not even the device itself.

PS: As I know there are monitoring spirits on thread n I'm not an all knowing ITK, any corrections to what I said here totally accepted, it's not that deep

It's a known fact that redmi series are the most successful xiaomi series and the mi series have been so underrated.

What if they want to focus on the MI series very well with this business idea while still remaining status quo with the redmi series?

This argument has a lot of logic to it, instead tying all the brands together n be joggling them, why not allow them to run parallel to each other since they all have different consumers

It's like Xiaomi want to make the Redmi line into an independent sub brand like Pocophone, interesting ...

If os updates are important to you, better save for a flagship, the only other option for guaranteed updates in anything but flagships is the Android One series

I have come to understand that the best way to use a phone optimally - without having to jump from one new phone to another is to start flashing custom roms (it gives different experience and that's basically why we buy new phones; the new experience). I have always wanted these new experiences that's why I have used 4 different phones this year, and the worst part is, I give out the old ones (I had to) and... That's my loss.

But not anymore.

I heard that the first step to flashing custom rom on a Xiaomi phone is to unlock bootloader. The method I found online is not working. I think it's outdated.

I just need someone to point me to the right way of unlocking bootloader. My device is RN5 4gb/64gb.

You are totally correct, it's the user experience that makes or breaks a phone n custom ROMs provide a unique shortcut to getting that experience. Unfortunately not too many care or have the balls to bother to bother to tweak their phones (that is why Apple devices are selling like they do). Be that as it may, custom ROMs still need time to mature even if that time is currently shrinking, which is why I am an unrepentant advocate of the Android One series, specifically the Mi A series, 2 years minimum Google standard support plus affordable elite level Chinese hardware courtesy of Xiaomi, the best of both worlds imho

MIUI 10 pin lock sucks , imagine allowing only four digits as pin lock in this dangerous 2018 even iOS they're low-key copying sometimes insist on pin codes of at least 9 digits, thank God sha for custom rom support

Ok just be careful with the flashing thing, I flashed one caf eas kernel n my phone was refusing to boot, instead it was going straight to fasboot, omo I nearly shit my pants thinking I bricked my phone, last last I managed to enter recovery n flashed the stock kernel I backed up n got my phone working again. After that experience no more flashing random stuff

I use stock cam that works well with no green picture, are you on the latest build? Me I stopped flashing random stuff after I nearly bricked my phone
