Mujtahida: Iheanacho is our most clinical striker. Would not miss as much chances as Osimhen has so far missed. Iheanacho is our most clinical striker but we should not forget that Osimhen's pace, on and off the ball runs and counter attacking ability/instinct is what creates most of those chances. Iheanacho relies heavily on a pass from the midfield or wings in order to score. He is not fast on the counter. So we won't be seeing most of those chances with Iheanacho starting. |

The formation/tactics below is the only one that can give us a win with a margin of 3.
............Nwabali........... Awaziem.......Bassey.......Omeruo .......... Raph Onyedika Simon ......Onyeka......Iwobi....Sanusi .......Osimhen.....Lookman
It's a 3-1-4-2. Awaziem starts on RCB because he can comfortably drive the ball forward from that position(his ball playing and defending as a RCB is top notch).
Bassey Starts in the Middle of a 3-man CB because of his speed in tracking down the opponent attackers and his ability to intercept the ball which is due to his pace as he is our fastest CB.He will function like a sweeper(last man).
Omeruo will play the LCB position being a ball playing CB.He has never failed to deliver in any tournament, be it the AFCON or the world cup.
Raphael Onyedika being the only def.midfielder in the team will start as the holding midfielder since the rest are box2box midfielders since he is a ball playing def.midfielder who loves to express himself on the ball.
Simon starts at RWB due to his high work rate and pace.
Onyeka starts as a CM or box2box midfielder.
Alex Iwobi will play as a CM.
Sanusi will play the LWB position due to his high work rate and pace.
Osimhen will play as a false nine.
Lookman will also play as a false nine. |

My observations from our first AFCON game Defence Peseiro got it wrong here by playing two sweepers I.e Ajayi and Ekoong, who are poor in ball playing.I mean they are not ball playing central defenders. Recommendation:He should pair one of them along side Kenneth Omeruo who is the only ball-playing central defender in the team because we need a central defender who can comfortably carry the ball to the midfield.
Midfield Peseiro started the game with 3 midfielders;Onyeka,Yusuf and Iwobi which is a wrong midfield trio.He started Onyeka in the Defensive midfield role, when he should have been deployed as a b2b midfielder. This is because Onyeka to me is more of a box 2 box midfielder and is always on the bench for Brentford this season. He has barely clocked 350mins of action this season. Recommendation:Raphael Onyedika should be deployed in the Defensive midfield role for he has been starting all games for Club Brugge this season, including in the Europa league. He comfortably carries the ball from the defence into the midfield in a majestic way and with accustomed ease.Remember the game against Mozambique.
Attack He started Moses Simon on the RW instead of Chukwueze. Recommendation:Chukwueze has a strong left foot and can comfortably shoot from the right unlike Moses Simon who has been playing on the LW for Nantes FC in France. |

Goal Keeper: Francis Uzoho has always been an average goal Keeper with obvious weeknesses. He hardly catches the ball once, he most times prefers to punch rather than catch. His punch gave the Algerians the winner. Please, the coach(Jose Peseiro) should start Adebayo Adeleye in our next match.Of what use is it to start Uzoho in a high profile friendly all in the name of experience and still concede two?
Adebayo Adeleye is the most inform Super Eagles Goal Keeper in Europe this season with about 3 cleansheets to his name.He also kept a cleansheet against Maccabi Haifa who are in the same group with PSG in the UCL.
We need a keeper who is good in catching outside shots, since most teams have now discovered our weakness.
Please, the coach should start Adeleye in our next match as I don't see Uzoho and Okoye getting better in that aspect. If we must go far in any tournament, we must first address our goal-keeping issues.
Defenders:
Against Tunisia, the Tunisians couldn't unlock our defence, so they kept on trying outside shots which resulted to their only goal against us in the quarter finals of the AFCON.The Black stars of Ghana did the same, scoring with an outside shot from Partey. The Fennec foxes of Algeria did the same, scoring from an outside shot against us.
This is because we have the best defence in Africa, so teams find it very difficult or almost impossible to score against us, so they resort to taking outside shots.
The quartet of Ola Aina,Kevin Akpoguma,Calvin Bassey and Zaidu Sanusi did very well today.
Midfield:Frank Onyeka was everywhere in the mid-field today.Acting both as a destroyer and a Deep-lying playmaker. He was unlucky to have caused a PK.He was always available for a pass when we are building from the rear.He is also better than Ndidi on the ball(ball-playing). |

TheSuperNerd: Points Summary from Yesterday's game: NGA 2-2 ALG B
- Alex Iwobi's form is Permanent. Not only did he score with a wonder strike from outside the box, he also provided the Pre-assist for Dessers' goal. Iwobi didn't start the game but his entrance obviously changed the dynamics of the middle game yesterday.
- Cyriel Dessers scored from an Iheanacho Assist following an Iwobi Pre-assist but he should have had a brace as well after Iheanacho robbed the Algerian GK of the ball and put it on a plate for Dessers whose effort was blocked off the line by an Algerian defender.
- Kelechi Iheanacho came in and provided an assist for our second goal and also created another big chance for Dessers.
- Adebayo Adeleye had a decent test debut but looked a bit shaky as on one occasion his diving saved effort fell for an Algerian player before Moses Simon came to his rescue with a clearance.
- Raphael Onyedika impresses on his test debut. Even had a crack at goal saved in the first half.
- Savior Godwin is a Baller. He came into the game and created chaos for the Algerian left defensive channel. For a lad who naturally plays from the left of attack for his club, Casa Pia, he did really well. It was also his blocked effort that eventually fell for Iwobi to unleash that world class belter of a strike for our first goal.
- Calvin Bassey was adjudged to have fouled an Algerian player in the box but that looked soft to me. A soft penalty call. A shoulder shove and the player goes down... Penalty. Naaah... ain't no ref giving that in the EPL or Serie A. Lol
And Finally....
- Maduka Okoye. The less said the better. Last game for the Super Eagles, he committed a Blunder. Next game for the Super Eagles after the last, he commits another Blunder and this one even more hilarious and calamitous than the first. Will Okoye ever learn??
Overall, we were the better side. Conceeded cheap goals caused by a GK calamity moment and a cheap pen call. We created the most chances and with Iwobi especially, we took total control of the game from the middle influencing happenings in the final third. Take that sweet pre-assist pass for instance into the path of Iheanacho.
Good game, waiting for the main one on Tuesday. Pls, any link to watch or download the full match. |

Curtisaxel10: Now that I have watched the game, I am no longer so angry about the result. Okoye made a doltish error and they got a penalty. Lucky goals.
It appears we played better than them overall, creating chances which were sadly, wasted by our forwards. We even got an identical chance to the one Okoye gifted them but our striker blew the chance. And we started the game with what is pretty much our second eleven.
BTW, Iwobi's goal was pure class. Pls any link to watch the full match? |

tbaba1234: Inspite of Ighalo's goals, his performances were poor to average. His best game was against Cameroon.
His movement is still poor so most of his goals came from rebounds and not good attacking play. He does not give midfielders options.. way too static.
Osimhen broke free on the right and left a few times, how many times have you seen Ighalo break free on the wings?
Osimhen offered a different dynamic today for anyone watching with a keen eye. His final balls were poor but he got himself in good positions. The whole team was poor, so this match shouldn't be used to rate him. |

Musa is not a winger he is a false 9.
He was poor for Leicester City as a winger.
We seem to have forgotten that against Iceland, we played a 3-5-2 with Musa as false 9 on the left.
Musa has the pace but lacks trickery which is essential. It's this trickery that gets you out of tight situations. |

Tactics rule the game now and with the talents at our disposal, we can achieve it. What if he(Amunike) starts having problem with some key players? We missed Ebuehi on the right. It will also be nice to consider Moses Odubajo. |

Tactically the Algerian team were better yesterday.
1.They did their homework well.Caged both Musa and Chukwueze and stopped Ighalo from getting into the box.
I expected the coach to instruct his wingers to play through the middle since the Algerians have blocked the wings.
2.Wrong Sub:Musa was very poor today and should've been subbed b4 Chukwueze but the coach left him because he was the captain.
Onyekuru for Chukwueze was wrong because Onyekuru is a LW not a RW.Most of his goals for Galatasaray came from the left.
3.Prior to the match the coach told his players not to foul anyone close to the box but they failed as the Algerians got the winner from a foul close to the box.
4.Ighalo is poor aerially and not a 9 for counter attack because he is heavy and lacks pace.He is mainly good inside the box as in more of a poacher as most of his goals have been scored from the box.
5.Immobility of full-backs:J.Collins and Awaziem were solid in defence offered very little in attack. One would have expected that since Musa and Chukwueze were caged that the full-backs will start attacking through the flanks. |

In our last 2 games we tend to score first then sit back to use counter-attacks which have failed twice as our opponents equalized.
We might not get away with it if we try it against Algeria. |

AFCON 2019: Has Chukwueze Done Enough To Oust Moses Simon From Super Eagles Starting XI? Published: July 08, 2019 The Super Eagles of Nigeria will battle the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the quarter- final round of the ongoing AFCON tournament after defeating Cameroon 3-2 last weekend. Apart from having difficulty in coming up with a winning strategy, Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr will face a slight headache as regards to who should be in his starting lineup between Samuel Chukwueze and Simon Moses. The 20-year-old Villarreal winger stared in the team's 1-0 victory over Burundi as he was included in the starting lineup by the gaffer. Despite his fine display against the AFCON debutants, the left-footed winger lost his shirt to Moses Simon in subsequent matches. Moses Simon is defensively important to the team but his offensive display has left so much to be desired. He was far from impressive in Saturday's game against Cameroon as he made way for the Villarreal man in the 60th minute. Though Odion Ighalo was the hero of the night, the spark and grit that Samuel Chukwueze brought into the team at the far end of the pitch can't be overlooked. Immediately after his introduction into the encounter, Nigeria's attackers were brought back to life. The Villarreal youngster wasn't afraid to take on the Cameroon defenders in one-on-one situations. He drew many defenders to himself with his dribbling skills, thereby, creating much space for Ighalo and Iwobi to wreck havoc to the Cameroon defence. Giving his wonderful display throughout the time he spent on the field of play, it won't be too much to admit that Chukwueze has done enough to earn a spot in Rohr's Starting XI against Bafana Bafana on Wednesday, July 10. Some want Rohr to start Simon, but the truth is if we are to play SA the same way we played Cameroon we will lose.
If SA scores first it is over for the team.We all know Baxter is a good tactician.
The defence was not solid against Cameroon because Balogun didn't start.
Balo brings calmness to eagles defence. |

Barryseal: For real? Do you really belive he freed up Musa and Odion? How did he manage to do that? How many successful dribbles did he complete that caused Musa and Odion to be free? Odion tried to be in the box at all times, what does Chukwueze have to do with that?
My last question, how could Chukwueze have freed up Musa who was operating on the opposite flank? How is that even possible judging by the geometry and size of a normal pitch? Before Chukwueze's introduction the RB cut-off all balls from and to Musa with good marking. But Chukwueze introduction disorganized them as they focused more on him. You could recall that in 2018 WC the introduction of Aguero disorganized our defence as both Balo and Ekoong focused on him which freed Rojo for their second goal. |

Barryseal: You're so on point. Watching a game under pressure and re watching at later time is not the same. The game didn't change as a result of Chukwueze's influence on the right side of the pitch. If anything else, it was Musa's left side that we looked threatening, sometimes I wish Musa was a bit selfish and quit trying to cut back at all times. On two occasions, he tried to cut back instead of going solo, twice those cut backs were cut off.. How come Ighalo and Musa were free from their markers after his introduction? |

Mujtahida: Stop this thing na. He changed the dynamics of the game even though he had no hand in the two goals. He created two clear chances which were wasted. All of these unsettled the camerounian defense ,put them under pressure and stemmed the tide of their attacking forays.
Simon Moses on the other hand wasn't just on the top of his game today. No need to press the point. E no go enter. It's not only today.Even against Guinea he was poor in attack bar his free-kick and his defensive contribution. Simon is a WB, suitable for 3-5-2 and 3-4-3 not 4-2-3-1. |

Barryseal: One of the chances he created was as a result of the short comings of his weaker foot, he was in a position to hit the ball with his right but instead tried to cut to his left, the defence recovered and he had to square to Musa. He had higher chance of scoring if he took the shot himself, albeit using his weaker foot.
That is why stats don't usually tell the full story. Secondly I don't think 2 players were outrightly marking him. He more or less ran into traffic when he tried dribbling. Chucks had a decent game but I agree with Rohr, the goals came inspite of him not because of him. He wasn't the game changer. ''I don't believe that it changed the result but it helped us to win and to score the two goals.''-Rohr. Chukwueze's introduction disorganized their defence. Immediately Chukwueze came on he distracted them as they left both Musa and Ighalo free. Prior to his introduction they were seriously marking Ighalo and never gave Musa any space to wreck havoc. Ighalo was free,Musa was free also. Creative/technical wingers draw opponents to themselves thereby leaving their teammates free to score. |

Sit back and employ Madagascan defensive style, if you even wanna try....but if you come out like Cameroon did and wants to score more goals my friend you go CHOP AM... You dey talk like this because we later won. We got the first goal because we attacked them first. But after the first goal our guys wanted to defend till halftime which gave Cameroon chance to equalize. It's attacking football that won us this game not some defensive football. Egypt lost yesterday because there coach in a bid for defensive solidity opted for a 4-2-3-1 instead of his 4-3-3 flat which has been winning him games. |

Oasis007: ''The question is easy to answer, you know when you have some offensive players like Oyongo, the left-back from Cameroon, who is coming forward all the time and you have an offensive strong player like Chukwueze but defensively not so good like Simon Moses, who plays in his club a more defensive position because they play 3-5-2.
''He's playing on the right or the left side, so we decided to start like this to have stability in the team and to bring in Chukwueze in the good moment. He came in after 16 minutes in the second half.

Cc ChrisKels, SuperNerd, Humility017, Forgiveness, Charlesemeka85. Bro, don't be carried away. Rohr just wanted to justify his starting line-up. Should he start Moses Simon against South Africa and get knocked out.He will be sacked. Iwobi for the 80mins he spent on the pitch produced only 3 key passes while Chukwueze produced same 3 key passes in just 30 mins. You can't set up your team defensively and still tell us we don't have good strikers. Start creative wingers like Onyekuru and Chukwueze and see a poor 9 net a hat-trick. |

Yesterday, Omeruo's mis hit shot fell to him and he hit it one time, goal! Musa's chest pass, he hit one time, Goal! Chukwueze had nothing to do with any of the goals. He didn't even have a shot on target. Chukwueze created 3 clear cut chances within the 30mins he spent on the pitch. |
