paulGrundy: Wow! That was a sincere, honest heart warming reply I have ever gotten from youWATCHTOWER has never claimed to be infallible or perfect. JW's too do not feel that their earthly leadership is perfect. |
Efere701: JW's have understood God's view of blood from the bible. When it comes to the Law to abstain from blood, we see it given to Noah and his family - Genesis 9:4,5. We also see it given to the israelites - Leviticus 17:10, 11. We also read of it in the early christian congregation - Act 14:28, 29.Like it was said earlier, when you consider the reason behind the law to abstain from blood given to the israelites, you'll appreciate why we shouldn't transfuse blood today. Lev 17:10, 11 says "the life of the flesh is in the blood", hence the law to pour it out to the ground. Life belong to God, and the blood is life. The law suggests that we cannot treat life/blood as we wish. We shld respect it. That ofcourse includes human blood, for in 2samuel 23:15-17 david demonstrated the sacredness of the human blood as well. It is also important to note that in Acts 15:29 paul says that when christians abstain from blood, they will prosper and have good health. True to that, many who have obeyed this have been free from the infections that blood transfusion brings. Do u knw how many pple get infected with hiv, hepathitis and other diseases through even screened blood? JW's want the best medical treatment because they want to stay alive and serve Jehovah, but when it comes to clear-cut Laws and principle from the Bible as this, they chose to obey it because they Love Jehovah and trust that he is God who is loyal to those who worship him in trueness. |
Yes, I am one of Jehovah's witnesses and I have just presented to you the bible's thought on the blood issue. Obeying God even when it comes matters of life and death brings great blessings.it is even as the bible says: "For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it".- matt 16:25 |
JW's have understood God's view of blood from the bible. When it comes to the Law to abstain from blood, we see it given to Noah and his family - Genesis 9:4,5. We also see it given to the israelites - Leviticus 17:10, 11. We also read of it in the early christian congregation - Act 14:28, 29. The question is, was it just animal blood alone? What is the principle behind God's telling his people in the past to abstain from blood. Lev 17:10, 11 explains the principle behind the Law, it says: "For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I myself have put it upon the altar for you to make atonment for your souls". In truth, the life of the flesh is in the blood. Medical science totally agrees with this. The blood contains red and white blood cells as well as plasma and plateletes. It is said that in the absence of one of these components, life cannot continue. Blood plays a vital role in life, so for that reason the bible equates blood to life. If blood = Life, then it shld be respected, not misused because it is God's, hence the law to pour it out to the earth after cutting the throat of an animal. That Formed the basis for the Law to abstain from blood. And that includes human blood, for Lev 17:10 starts by saying "as for any man...who eats ANY SORT OF BLOOD...I shall indeed cut him off. This was not simply refering only to animal blood. There is also the account in 2samuel 23:15-17 where David was very thirsty, 3 of his men forced their way into the enemy camp, drew water from a cistern, and brought it to him. How did David react? He asked: "shall I drink the blood of the men going at the risk of their souls?" In Davids eyes, the water was, in effect, the lifeblood of his men. So despite his thirst he "poured it out to God". David understood the prínciple behind the Law to abstain from blood, JW's also do thus their respect for blood(Life). |
Reading this thread, I'm further reminded that in truth only those who sincerely search for God will find him. There are thousands of similar write ups like this in the internet in which 85% of the story is hidden, and for many readers, they draw their conclusion after reading a material like this thread. You know, a lot of persons in Jesus time because of listening to lies about Jesus from the pharisees were convinced that Jesus was a blasphemer and performed miracles with the power of belzebob. But how they missed out on having the life that followers of Jesus will enjoy. For those who are Active JW's, they understand where the writer of this thread is heading. They only laugh at the lies. For those who have OBJECTIVELY observed the JW's, they realise that the story is not in line with the JW's they know. For those who knowJW's from a distance, they are shell-shocked because they have swallowed every detail. Jesus was falsely condemned and in truth he looked different from the people in his time. If anyone in that time believed the false stories about jesus without seeking the truth objectively, and if anyone in that time thought of someone who is different as a fraud, he was on a wrong path. Some in Jesus's day only believeÐ hÊ was God's son after his death when they experienced darkness and an earthquake. Truly Truly, reading this thread I've been reminded that just like in Jesus's day, many people will quickly dismiss the people bearing the truth from the Bible without OBJECTIVELY investigating overtime. |
There is no point for Nigerian catholics to pull out of CAN because of its political involvement. The catholic leaders in the world have always been patners with world leaders. Over the years they have developed strong relationships. They have blessed the arms of troops of armies during wartime, They have influenced many government decisions, they have not hidden their support for world leaders. |
birdboy: @ posterWe like or dislike a course because of who we are and what we have decided to pursue. if one has decided to live life to the fullest, believing that this life is all he/she has, such person would not welcome a religion that has some restrictions because of adherence to the Bible. such a person, just like birdboy will feel sooo disappointed and sad. We need to realize the folly of writing our own script in life, or doing simply what is best in our eyes. GOD created us, We didnt create ourselves. so quite naturally, we owe him everything. We owe him respect and worshipful honour. Unfortunately the world is not designed that way. The world system is designed for us to be independent from GOD, for us to disregard GOD'S laws. The world system has affected many many people today, so that if someone tries to follow the guidance from the bible, he's opposed. In this our day, truth from the bible has been twisted, yes, true to what out Lord Jesus said before he departed to the heaven. There abound ''blasphemy'' taught as bible truths today in the churches, and many have accepted them wholly, believing them without seeking their authenticity. But while falsehood is abundant today, seeds of truth are being planted and are germinating all over the world. I've followed this thread for a while, reading many comments. The truth is, Jehovah's witnesses are in fact a lovely set people. Here are a people who have earnestly studied the bible, and are sincerely applying it in their lives. And who says if you earnestly study the bible and sincerely apply its counsel, you will not be hated? You will be intensely hated, you know why? The ruler of the world is opposed to GOD - 1john 5:19 Being a JW means standing for the truth in the bible, regardless of what happens. From celebrating holidays to doctrines to pattern of worship, there is a scriptural reference in everything JW's do. When criticizing JW's, because of the scarcity of evidence many have dug up events that happened in the past and embellished it negatively. when mentioning the history of JW's never will you here positive comments. its been 3 years since this thread was created and i will hardly be surprised that the OP progressed to becoming a JW. But if not, its just an example of how close many people will come to serving Jehovah but withdraw. |
Kabieosi: @ YooguyzÍ dnt knw who you assume Jehovah's witnesses to be. If you assume them to be angels who fell from the sky, then Ýou Áre dead wrong. They are imperfect humans just likÉ everyone on earth. Jehovah too looks at them in such light. Jehovah's witnesses have all the imperfections of humañs, all the imperfeCtions of the first centuRy chrÍstiÀn, but they uphold the truth from the bible. If you try to paint them in a bad light because of any possible mistake they made, your effort will continue to be futile because despite their human imperfections their faith and love for Jehovah is sooo evident. Despite many people like you writing negative articles on the witnesses, you'll be shocked to find out how manÝ people get baptised as Jehovahks witnesses daily, how many study the bible with the witnesses. God is using ordinary people to accomplish an extraordinary task according to his will and purpose. Even Jesus and his disciples despite their self-sacrificing life were condemned. The first century christians too were spoken of abusively. So if you lived during their era, you would as well have picked up Ôn some of their humanly mistakes to discredt them. A big point I'm making is that many have fought toÒth and nail to stamp out JW's, they verbally abuse, physically assault, tell lies to disc®edit, spread propaganda and all the likes, but JW'§ grow in number year by year becÀuse jehovah blesses their effort. Jehovah is not even inte®ested in numbers, only 8 people who obeyed him survived the flood of Noah's day. Shows you GÓd's thinking on Ñumbers. JW's do not have a job to turn evryone to Jehovah, they do their pÀrt and when its time God will say the work is done. So even if billions Óf artÍcles should be written against JW's they'll continue to increase in number. Your course is a futile one because you are not fighting against JW's. You are up against Jehovah God. |
I'm JW from birth. JW don't marry outside- that's from the bible. I'm not suprised at the fact that you love this guy coz JW are moderate people.our edicational programmes teaches us a lot...teaches us to be res¶onsïble, loving, patient, humble, and intelligent. My advise to u i§ this- don't follow public opinion, get to knw JW's cos they are wonderful people. If he wants to marry you, don't say no...that could be the threshold of your learning the truth from the Bible and be saved. |
Look out for The trickery of men.People are so desperate in the attempt to discredit the reputation of Jehovah's witnesses.they have had to resort to distortions, half-truths, exaggerations, and outright falsehood just to stain the reputation Jehovah's witnesses have. Charles Taze Russel was moderate youngman who at sometime in his life understood that church had gone off course. He realised just as many others before him that christianity had undergone negative changes over the years. He had the bible and he read it. But he could not reconcile some of the doctrines of christianity with the healthful teachings of the holy bible, the. Very teachings held by the first centÙry christians. So he gave his business with aim of finding and establishing the truth from God's word the bible. In the late 1800's he formed a study group to accomplish his aim. They would search every scripture on a particular subject and would come up with a conclusion wether this was acÇepted by other people or not. For example they established that there is a creator and his name is Jehovah(psalms 83:18). They held that Jesus was God's son. He was created and he gave his life as a ransom for all mankind(matt 20:28, collosians 1:15). The bible students clearly saw that man does not have an immortal soul but man himseld is a soul(Gen 2:7, Ezekiel 18:4). And so on and so forth. Russel didn't want to for a new church, he felt there were enough denominations. He tooks these points of research he made to the clergy. They rejected it. Then he realised that someone had to preÁch these thÍngs to the people. He was to §pend the remaining years of his lifE telling people these wonderful truths from the bible. His preaching got the attention of many people in diFferent parts of the world, some of these people shared his idea and they joined in the work. Russel was not a perfect man, the same with all of jehovah's witnesses you see today. We are all imperfect and we make mistakes. We appreciate Charles Russel's effort because Jehovah used him to wake us up. It is clear Jehovah directed his endeavours so that truth from God's word can be known today. While Russel was alive he never claimed to be a freemason or some sorts. This is seen from his Love for Jehovah and his desire to do his will. |
I was raised a jehovah's witness and I cannot thank Jehovah and my parents enough. I am a nice youngman, and moderate in habits. I cannot count the many things I've gained in the course of my life. I've experience the joy that comes from seeing people's eyes light up as they understand bible truths...calling on people's homes to preach even when they cld be apathetic to our message has taught me patience,love,humility,self-sacrifice, and long suffering. These qualities are lacking in our world today, and to think that I developed them, its a privilege. Í have a wondÉrful brotherhood. People who can render assisstance to me in whatever waÝ possible shld therÉ be a need. I have Jehovah God, who I can be ever close to as long as I live. I'm going to let out something. This world i§ so cold. No love, no loyalty, happiness is empty. In Jehovah's organisation, you can be truly happy because you are taught to apply bible principles...if I was somewhere else I have no idea how my life wldve been, but I'm sure I wldnt have these gains. Get to know Jehovah's witnesses. If you want to follow public opinion, you'll have every reason to dislike or hate them. Take Þime to investigate them, study their beliefs. Check carefully if it is founded on sc®ipture. Many who have done this have been amazed at their discovery. I love people, I share God's will which is that all sorts of persons come to an acurate knowledge and be saved. |
My witness background made me who i am today (I'm not some kind of genius. I'm just a moderate guy). i say "witnesses are so privileged''. The general concept in society is that the witnesses are anti-social, they only associate with themselves, some people say they're just too involved with their worship and so their extremists... Growing up, i was being taught the bible by my parents at home. i attended congregation meetings at the kingdom hall. as early as 4yrs i started talking to people about the Good news of God's kingdom. i had nothing to be ashamed of because as i grew up, i was known in my neighborhood as having a clean standing. when i was 14 i got baptized. It was the beginning of my sacred service to Jehovah. I also did well academically. it may surprise you to know that some things my mates in class found difficult was a piece of cake for me because i got exposed to them when i was young, thanks to my training as a witness. i made friends throughout my school days. of cos i was very selective. many people appreciated me as a friend and I'm glad about that. In our preaching work, we have lots of joys. Do you have an idea the feeling you get when you see someones eyes light-up as they learn wonderful truths from the bible? Nothing can bring a pinch of the joy and satisfaction you get when you help someone understand bible truth. We learn so much engaging in the preaching work. many reject me, but who am i to get angry and frustrated? Joys abound when even 1 out of 10 receives us. basically we're happy because we please Jehovah. Preaching helped me to have patience, humility, Love, Empathy, and Long-suffering. These are qualities lacking in our world today. We've been disappointed in years back because we expected bible prophecies earlier....whats wrong with that? doesn't it signify that we are awake and keep watch as world events unfold to fulfill bible prophecies ? isn't that what those who want get saved should be doing at this time? As bible truths are being understood better, refinements in teaching are being made. question is, how else should it be? even Christians in the first century had to grow in knowledge of God's word as time passed by, and so they also changed certain beliefs and thinking. Jehovah's witnesses are interested in serving God in a way he approves. They'll do anything to conform their lives to the Laws and principles of the Bible. They also recognize that many people(some sincere ones) are getting it all wrong. Jehovah's witnesses do not raise themselves above others, but they have obeyed God's command to cover the entire globe with the good news of his kingdom. Whenever you see one of Jehovah''s witnesses at your door step, please invite them in and listen with your heart. you are sure to gain a rich reward. Thanks |

uboma: @ op, are u a JW? I have some questions I will love to get scriptural answers to. Can you attend to me on this forum?yes i can my friend, and i will so love to attend to you. |
Sometimes people do express outright animosity toward us, or at least toward the public preaching work that we do. Often times, certain ones may not even really know why they don't like us, but because their clergyman, family members, or friends have expressed unfavoarable sentiments toward JW's, then they likewise do the same. Sometimes, misinformation and lies can lead one to form opinions about us that can lead someone to an unfavorable judgment of us. One example of such a lie about JW's is that some have claimed in the past that JW's supported Hitler. The fact is, The Watchtower magazine warned about Hitler's activities way back in the early 1930's, long before the world in general paid any attention to him. We were staunchly opposed to him, and we even refused to say the "Heil Hitler" salute. As a result, Hitler tried to kill us all, and was successful in killing a large number of us in the concentration camps. The Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC has a whole section dedicated to the memorial of JW's who died at the hands of Hitler. Further, I personally I believe that those who "hate" us probably don't hate us individually, but their animosity is probably directed toward us as a group. They probably don't personally know of anyone who is a JW, and would probably be shocked that their dentist, their mailman, their paperboy, their auto mechanic, all could be JW's. Or, they may know someone who is a JW, that they may have had a personal difference with (we are all imperfect humans), and based on this, they may have decided that we all must be like that one person is. Humans have a tendency to stereotype. |
Have you guys ever thought for a second if the witnesses could be right, if they could be doing what true christians should be doing, if this world hates them because they're right ? |
Adam said nothing about his existence somewhere before he was created. Lazarus when brought back to life said nothing about HELLFIRE or Heaven. my point is, if you hold the bible as God's word and your final authority, you shouldnt believe in an immortal soul because the soul that sinneth,it shall die - Ezekiel 18:4 |
there are those practicing true christianity, the very same pattern of worship that the apostles of christ engaged in. |
even among many there are those who are the true worshippers of God. when you observe closely you will see them. |

it melted my heart, I couldn't stop starring at it
