Good morning. I’m back to give an update. I got my US visa approval today. My first time. I’m grateful to God and to all the contributors here. I also told the visa officer about my travel this Sunday and told her I’d like to keep my passport. She gave me a white slip with an address to take it to their office after I return for the visa itself. I thought it will be helpful to give that update for those who may be in my situation. I know @efetobore said it may be unlikely for this to be allowed, but it is allowed. I wish everyone success with their applications.

I’ve been an operations manager for the past year, but I have a BSc in Physiology and some earlier health-related experience. Since I’m applying for a Master’s in Kinesiology and Sport Performance, do you think listing my current job might cause issues at the visa interview? I don’t really have a more recent health-related role to put instead.

Go and pay your visa fee. Its still possible because people around me both B1/B2 and F1 are still booking appointments. ** If the bank doesn't send you away and you are able to pay then you won't have issue. 👍

Good morning. I am new here and need some information, please. I have a visiting visa interview next week for the US. I’m going to see my friend who lives there for two weeks. I applied since last year when I was going to Canada so I could take that opportunity to visit her in America but the earliest interview date I got was for this year. So I went to Canada and came back. I want to know what documents to take along apart from the DS 160 confirmation page , appointment confirmation letter, visa payment receipt and passport photograph. Do I need to take my bank statement , letter of introduction from work and evidence of family ties along? I am the only one travelling, my husband and kids will be in Lagos.

I am also travelling next week. Can I ask them if I can hold on to my passport cause I don’t think they’d return it to me in time for the next trip.

I need your help please. My mom wants to apply for a US B1/B2 visa for tourism to come visit me and her new grand child on the way. Do you think she should include that she wants to see her grand child in the application? My mom recently got denied her 1st b1/b2 application in January this year so she's scared she might be denied again. What about funding for the trip? She is retired so should she say her daughter will fund the trip? Any suggestions and advice is appreciated.

Hello everyone . Please my dependant and I were had an appointment on the previous platform for a student visa but couldn't attend before the platform was moved to AVITS. I have been migrated and been able to reschedule my interview but I am unable to reschedule my daughter even after raising tickets and sharing her payment receipt. They keep saying there's no record of previous profile for her with an unused payment.

She was always registered under my email in the previous platform as a minor and dependant.

Please has anyone experienced this issue with rescheduling a dependants appointment from the old platform to AVITS and how were you able to resolve it.

Do I need to create a new profile with another email for her. We have a limited time because her visa fee expires 19th of June. I don't want to have to pay another visa fee.

Pls I need some advise , recently I was given a 221(g) form for my H1b interview. The consular discovered that the petitioner on her system is different from what is in i797b approval. Then she noted some documents I need to come with on my 221g form to summit at the OIS service centre where my original transcript is part of the documents. Though I HV all these documents she asked me to bring. My questions now are:
(1) Will these documents be returned BK to me most especially my original transcript?
(2) Why was it that the petitioner's name appearing on the cansular system or at the embassy is different from what I HV in i797b approval notice? All the correspondences I HV been receiving from USCIS bring out my correct petitioner's name.

Hello everyone,

My mum’s interview was set for 6 June 2025, but the embassy will be closed for a holiday that day. I contacted them through the scheduling website and was told to reschedule, yet the next available appointments are more than a year away. Is there any way to secure an earlier date? She would have kept the original appointment if the embassy were open.

Please how about a situation when one has the money in his or her personal account but then either of my father or mother gets to write a letter of introduction stating that I am supporting him or her with such an amount while the rest comes from the applicant's personal savings

I was given a tuition assistance of 1,188 dollars and the rest of my tuition fees as well as my living expenses will be covered by My elder sister, ... in the UK, she earns between 48000 - 50000 dollars yearly, Plus, she doesn’t have kids or any major financial commitments, so she’s in a great position to fully fund my Education. I also have $10,000 in savings to supplement her support.

Have you been to the USA before?
No, I havent had any reason to do so.

Note:
In my previous I-20, my personal contribution of $10,000 was not included because the school felt my sponsor’s funds were enough. Its now included in my current 1-20.

Interview for F1 scheduled tomorrow in Abuja. If visa is approved, I will like the passport delivered to me in Lagos, on or before June 11 because I need it to travel on the 13th. Which pickup option should I select to ensure that I receive it on time? Should I choose the option today before my the interview or after my visa is approved (inshallah). I need it delivered to me as quickly as possible.

Please advice is needed from people who know how this stuff works.

My profile is as follows:

I'm a software engineer with 3+ years of experience
COA is $30k (no funding) - (I tried securing funding, but I didn't get it)
I can sponsor myself, but I would also like to add my mum as a sponsor. So we will be joint sponsors.

What has the experience of people with my kind of profile been?

I've seen fully funded guys denied, but I've not seen much of those that even went without funding. I can actually afford the education because I will only be paying tuition and fees. Accommodation is sort of covered. But again, even with being genuine what do you think I should do ?

Pls I have also tried tracking my parents passport to no avail. They submitted on 22nd April, my dad got an email to pick up his passport but it was discovered that he had a wrong passport photograph which he rectified and resubmitted his passport on the 7th May.

Quite worried cos they are scheduled to travel to Canada next month.

My sister would like to invite our mother to the U.S. on a visitor visa—she recently became a U.S. citizen. While filling out the DS-160 form for our mom, she chose Lagos as the location for the visa interview. Unfortunately, there were no available interview dates in Lagos for this year, so she ended up booking an appointment in Abuja for November 2025.

I have a few questions:

Is there any issue or consequence with changing the interview location from Lagos to Abuja?

Can she attend the interview in Abuja using the same DS-160 form, or will she need to fill out a new one? What’s the best way to handle this?

What documents should our mom bring with her to the visa interview?

Is she required to go for document verification in Abuja before the actual interview date?

I’d really appreciate your helpful answers and guidance.
