bro inasmuch as you want to be diplomatic its better to be silent, avits portal will not tell you there's a pause but we read news to know that why there's no date presently in lagos and Abuja appointment calendar is as a result of the temporary suspension

I booked an appointment for IW and could NOT make it on that date to submit for my Uncle, so I then cancelled it, now I want to rebook again and it says reference is not recognised.

Please do I need to pay for another visa fee??
Is the visa fee receipt invalid after first cancellation of appointment( Interview waiver) his visa expired in February 2025

I didn’t choose Abuja when I filled my Ds-160. I choose Lagos. But there’s no date available in both locations for new appointments due to the visa pause.

IMO, nothing is impossible, but some things are unlikely.

Not impossible that we all get indiscriminately and absolutely banned, however unlikely. I believe if a ban is implemented, issued visas will be valid and all pending visa cases will automatically be denied. Just an opinion sha.

All in all, we need to start fixing Nigeria.

My mother was recently denied a visiting visa due to a lack of strong home ties. She is over 60 years old and has never traveled outside the country. I am currently a permanent resident and stated in the application that I would be sponsoring her trip. She is a businesswoman who runs a wholesale flour business. However, during her interview, she mentioned that they did not ask to see any of her supporting documents.

How can we better demonstrate her strong ties to home in her next application?

I recently applied for a U.S. Business Visa to attend a fully sponsored conference I was invited to. However, I haven’t been able to secure an interview date yet.

At the same time, I’ll be traveling to the UK early next month for another program. I’m wondering — is it possible to transfer or use the same visa application (and fee) to schedule an interview at the U.S. Embassy in the UK instead, since I’ll be there during the intended travel period for the U.S. event?

Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hi, thanks for your reply. But the issue is that there are no dates available in both Lagos and Abuja. I have to get a first appointment date before rescheduling or requesting for an expedited appointment. I can’t even navigate beyond the month of June.

Please I have a question regarding DS-160 application form. After filling the form, I saved them on my phone, but unfortunately, some parts of it were not properly saved. Although, I can remember most of the things I filled there. Also, I only added my LinkedIn and Instagram handle to the social media section.

In light of the new development regarding social media scrutiny, is it advisable I fill another one to include my Twitter and Facebook handles and that would also help me to meticulously save it this time around, or should I just leave it like that? Does filling another DS 160 form has any negative effect on one's application?

I have Bsc. Microbiology, PGD. Computer science
Been working in a financial institution but in the IT department for 10+ years.
I am currently the head of the support team for 3 years now
I have Microsoft certifications (Solutions Architect)

While my husband already has Bsc and Masters degree. He is currently an Executive Director in an oil and Gas company. He does not want to migrate just the ability to visit/holidays.

The course i applied to is MSC. Cybersecurity in a University(US)

Both my husband and child were included in my i-20. Complete sponsorship by my husband and we selected family sponsorship. We are using investment he made which credited to my account and the deficit is also in his account. We have the certificate of investment.

I have a sibling in US and he is legally there. Also, i was denied Canadian visa a couple of months ago due to the agent mistake in not including the US visa denial, i had 15 years ago.

Please, i need advise on how to proceed on this and the documents that might be important to present for the interview as i have a scheduled date already.

I have a few questions as regards B1/B2 visa
My mum wants to come for my graduation in December. She most likely will be in the US for 1 month. On her DS-160, should I fill 1 month or 2 weeks for her visit?

In the aspect of have you made any specific travel plans, I chose "no", is that fine or should I change it to yes... If they ask her where she will be staying, should she say that she will be staying with me or she will be staying in a hotel for that duration?

Also, I've filled out her DS-160 form but there is not any specific place that says where she will explain the purpose of her visit. So, how do I go about that or is there something I am missing out?

I am a Dalai Lama fellow which is quite a prestigious one. It’s hosted by university of Virginia. And yes learnings from this fellowship will drive positive change in my society. I am tadbit confused with your reference on my DS160. Indeed in retrospect I feel like I wasn’t ready verbally, but I want to do better that’s why I am here.

For context, I got a fellowship and scheduled to attend a 1 week leadership training in America after which I am to come back and continue with work.

Me: I goofed. I continued tapping about this particular training ( 😞I was overwhelmed with nerves)

Me: I answered and gave him my payslip and bank statement which he looked at.
VO: have you traveled before
Me: I listed the countries and he checked my passport for the visas et al.
VO: are you married, do you stay alone and do you own the property where you stay
Me: no. Yes and I rent the property, on a 3 years lease.

Long story short I was rejected. I WANT TO REAPPLY LIKE TODAY BECAUSE WHAT I AM GOING FOR IS VERY GOOD FOR MY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. I DO HAVE A GOOD LIFE HERE IN NIGERIA, but I guess I wasn’t able to articulate myself properly.

So my question is DO I HAVE A CHANCE IF I REAPPLY IMMEDIATELY because the conference is 1 month away and what can I do differently?

SOS: My uncle and I are bid to travel on the 12th of this month to UK and Canada. He submitted his passport for through dropbox on the 19th of May, until this moment, his passport has not been returned. What can we do to retrieve the passport urgently?

We have booked hotels in London and Canada. Plus flight tickets.

Please help on how to go about it. I did not know that the system has changed. I encouraged him to drop the passport

I applied for B1/B2 non- immigrant visa in March 2025( she tried dropbox for renewal but was not successful) for my mom to visit my sister in the US who gave birth last year December for Omugwo and was scheduled for an interview in October 2025.

While waiting for her appointment date she underwent another surgery on her eyes ( this will be the 4th time). All surgeries done in Nigeria. We decided she seek another opinion leading us to apply for expedited (emergency) using medical reasons to get a closer date.

Uploaded necessary documents and a closer date was scheduled for today 3/6/2025 which was unfortunately denied.

She has been to the US twice

The visa officer only asked her if she was in the US last year and a year before and the duration for her stay which was 2months and 5months respectively.

We want to reapply again
1) How do we show/prove strong ties back home
2) We are asked to not to repeat what we filled in the original ds-160 form when filling a new one. What do we fill now?
3) Can we still go through the medical route(b2) because she still needs medical attention and a closer date
