Blessings first wedding gown practical . 6months ago she registered with us and could do nothing with regards cutting let alone sewing. But today I am so proud of her progress. Thanks to all my tutors for teaching her very well up to this stage

Fashion lesson 101.Making curtain .this is how it starts

My fabric

The boot cut, is it for straight cut or baggy cut?

I mean the hem area so it can be baggy or straight.

Now the type we are making like I said b4 is a very simple type.so first I divide my measurement into 2 using the block theory.( Eg front block trouser, and back Block trouser)

Waist- 36 ÷2=18
Hip -42 ÷2= 21
Thigh 28÷2=14
Boot cut 16 ÷2=8

All the length areas don't need to be divided.

fabrics needed depending on your size 1and a half yards to 2yards. Fabric type depends on you. I want to use Ankara fabric.

My Measurements areas

waist- 36
Hip-42
Crouch depth 14
Thigh-28
Waist to Knee length-22
Full length-43
boot circumference-16

Also when it comes to measurements here in Nigeria we use inches to measure, but in the book they used centimetres as that's what's is common to them.so anywhere you see in the book measurements in centimetres just turn your tape rule to the inches part to get what they are saying. You will enjoy colourful pictures indicating steps to follow while making a project.

For the basic principles in sewing at my school this is the book I use to teach because of its clear explanation an beautiful pictures.this is saying that yes you will benefit from this book.

Our project
our project at hand is trouser making .we would start it today I just wish I had time to get my fabric during the week.anyway I will do that latest by Tuesday or tomorrow so that the sewing can start. i am going to do the basic type of trouser for the sake of beginners in the house.the advanced type might confuse some of us here.
Get ready your fabrics so we can all learn the process together. For those of us that don't wear trousers you can make a skirt as long as we do something on our sewing machine this week.

The books
Thanks to those that have gotten their books.so far we have half of what came to us left in just 5 days .The word going fast actually means finishing really fast (coz I put up the picture on our BB Facebook page, tweeter, instagram ,blogs website etc and people from all these platforms are coming to pick up copies). So if you really need these books kindly come get yours this coming week.coz i don't know if it will last long.

The price for the dress making is 7k. while the price for the sewing book is 6500. The sewing book is the first edition while the dress making is the revised edition so you will likely see similar topics on both but the dress making book takes it further.

If you are not in logos and you was this book no problem. Just seen a text or a whatsapp 08096577157 indicating your name and the location you want it to be sent to, I will then send you an account number to pay into as well as the fees for transporting it to your location. ( eg sending it to ibadan will likely cost less than sending it to Abuja , PH , or calabar. ) This is why I need to know where you want it sent to.this way we will tell you how much extra you will need to pay to transport it there.

I would love a trouser too so let's do it but I would also love to have more posts from our last project.

In the main time let get our fabrics ready.

Pls note that if u don't wear trousers you could go for the skirt version instead of making a trouser.

Hello every one.been waiting for us to post our finished jobs . Well done to those who did theirs and I hope you were able to rock it somewhere like I did. in fact I was in the market shopping for fabrics the same day I posted the picture of our project and about 3 ladies at different time intervals on that same day recognised me saying I saw this outfit on nairaland today so you are efosa val .it felt good honestly.shout out to you guys for recognising me

Thanks for asking. Our classes are very flexible. You can register any time what we do is give u a curriculum,and assigne a tutor to teach you.so you can register anytime,

In the picture above we made the students do a talk show .We made them project into the feature to see them selves as designers ,doing fashion shows all over the world. From Lagos to Paris, London fashion week, New York fashion show, Mercedes fashion week etc.

Still make believe o. Now they are called on to give an interview to tell us the audience (fellow students) what they have been up to lately .

It was so much fun and we all enjoyed it as if It were real. I was so trilled at the stuffs they came up with.

The good thing about this exercise is that it prepares the students for what's to come when they become designers.they may be called on at any time to give interviews so they would be ready for it. At Valisimo fashion school we are more interested in developing not just sewing skills but brand management in our students.

When you stop seeing it as just a cut and sew business then the dream of becoming a popular designer will become a quick reality.
