Explanation before diagram and pictures In the measurement above the bust line is the biggest in all the circumference measurement so I shall use that for my fabric placed on fold process so I can add seam allowance. Now to do my fabric placed on fold I will divide that bust 40 into 2 (front block 20 ,back block 20) plus seam allowance 2 inch on the front block and 4 inch on the back block for allowance on the side and zip. (Front block 22, back block 24) note that the back block will further be divided into two so as to place the zip in the middle. I also will require my half length so I don't waste fabric also keeping in mind that from my half length I would factor in the peplum part. Half length is 16. I shall add 1.5 inch for seam on the should joining and waist to peplum joining. |

winie: I am one of those greatly impacted by this thread. I stumbled upon thiss thread not so long ago, and was rushing to finish it so that I could say weldon to Onari, alas! So so sad. Onari, onari, Onari, may your magnanimous soul rest in the bosom of our heavenly Father in Jesus name amen. @ Efosa Val, can you continnue where she stopped in honour of this lady? I think we owe it to her. would really love to.....but even my "let's sew for fun thread I don't post in as regularly as I want to because of my supper busy schedule. But at least there is a guarantee that some how I eventually I will post there.so my advice is you follow that one coz it's more likely I will post on it.really do appreciate all ornarri's effort here for us coz she made this a possibility may she rest in peace. I was planning to visit her in Benni for us to arrange a seminar in lagos and Benni so as to encourage young fashion designers . God knows how pained I felt when I heard the news of her passing.but well the plans are still there and if God says it will still happen then it will. As for teaching on this thread I really wish I could but like I said it's time that's my only problem. Please kindly join the let's sew for fun thread. I miss you ornarri. RIP dear.u did so much for me without meeting me face to face.that to me is what I call being selfless.its no wonder we still cry for you even after months. |

Tushmum: I mis-cut(if dere is any English like dat) my material, olodo like me!Pele dear... don't worry we can do something to it.u can use that place as ur back and use the other as your front just by lowering the neck line.also u can just add a particular fabric to stitch it together and that would just give ur dress another twist ![]() |
Now I have so many lovely styles in mind that I will like to do as project here but I am afraid of these that are still really new at this so they don't lose interest in it. But at the same time it's time to start doing serious beautiful designs.... Any ways let me post pictures of our next project. We making a peplum top.yeep with pad and bust cut.i know some people will go plus u can rock it with a skirt or a pair of jeans. which I love doing a lot. As for the fabric. ....you can use any thing you like dear lace or ankara even that stretchy lace can do it.also as for the padding you can decide to pad or not either way as long as u measure and cut right it will fit u ![]()

yeeeeeeee nice job ladies.well done to all.i love all your comments. I have been supper busy these last few days. And this type of busy is a different one for me so just trying to adjust to the new level I and my job is presently attaining. I am joining the league of celebrity designers and I must tell you it's a whole new experience that's so exciting to me. First of all I am so grateful that some how God has helped make my childhood dreams come true. I always said to my self that I won't stop until celebrities start wearing my collections coz those designers that celebrities wear their collections don't have two heads .they are people who worked really heard to get to the stage they are now enjoying thus I too can do it. hummmm now I am on a roll o.na from one celeb to another celeb. gradually them all go sabi me as long as I don't stop, I give quality and most of all the grace of God. I am telling you about this coz I want you to be inspired to love what ever it is you do and be ready to work very hard to take your passion to great hight that others would appreciate.Never give up coz you don't know when the wonderful opportunity you are praying for will come. ![]() |
mamatwo: madan efosa, does the dress have darts and lining?U can put Dart if u want. But the one I made didn't have dart |
Bootybuttchic: same probs i encounterd when i began sewing ooNice tips |
tushwitch: Ma, there's something wrong with my dress, it looks ill fitting when loose, guess I'm gonna make it fitted instead, cause i *'borrowed ' the machine i usedAm a so happy u did urs dear.i check this post every day and when I see finished jobs I feel soo pleased.well done dear. |
Aloli: Among the measurements listed is the arm hole, please how do you measure this on a person's body. ThanksI don't. ...coz so come with real bad body odor ![]() So I just don't put my lovely tape rule there. ![]() What I do is I measure the upper bust length the bust length and the under bust length from the shoulder down . usually my arm hole area is around my upper bust Eg bust length , bust circumference Upper 8 36 bust 10 38 Under 13 32 with this if our upper bust length is 8 then then my arm hold would be around 7 ,8 maximum 9.8 is perfect.it can never be 10 because that would mean it would expose the bust area and the arm hole will be too big |
Xone3: please will the extra 4 inches for free ness be added only to the hip or will it be added to the bust and waist also.U need to add It to all.2 inch on both sides |
Hummmmm where do I start from ......so many questions |
Doing their projects I hope.anyways we hope to see urs soon too. The joining part of this dress is pretty basic.join shoulder to shoulder . side to side.fix the zip the sleeve and the combination part.at the end this is what u get. Note that it's like this on this Manequin because was was made for a big person.go back to the measurement to see it.
