This is the free dress we are doing next.but I will not start until I see post from you on the gathers and pencil skirt tutorials o.no time no time no time........true but at least you have to try so that my own effort in this too will not be waisted.

Make sure u do it well and avoid the zip teeth getting bad by ur sewing machine. Also make sure that ur zip is NOT visible when u done.

Next fix lining then the band area.

Here Is the prosses for the zip.am using invisible zip so please pay attention coz it's very tricky

First you sow the edge of the zip to the fabric to hold the zip in place.
Next u sew the teeth side of the zip to the fabric. Making 2 stitches on the zip

Her waist is 17,so I added an extra 19 inch to create that fullness that's how I got the 36.

There is no guessing dear .all is by measurement.
And yes to ur question u can use 2x or 3x or more

Depending on how full u want it thou.but u should have at least 1& half yard to do this for you.u can gather up to 40- 50 yards and more if the need arises. But if u have to work with so much fabric,then u want to consider the type of fabric and the occation its ment for.eg wedding dresses.

OK back to class...........I will post the zip part soon hope u have started urs too or at least thought about the fabric u want to use for the project.

When add the band make sure u sewing on the flip or back side coz you gonna turn it to the front side when u donr

Cool follow with ur sew along dear. I am back and serious too.and I get encouraged to post when I see u doing it too


Now I iron both edges of the band with the airstay on it.
After this I sew the gathered fabric and lining together.then I adf the zip
Finally i place the band on the gathered skirt and lining and sew together

So first I cut out my 36 fullness plus 2inch for zip.by 10 inches.(remember I said its for my baby.for yours it will be much bigger than this)

or 10 by 36 +2inch=38,
when I place the fabric on fold I will have 10 by 19 on fold.

I also intend adding lining to it so I cut my lining smaller than the main fabric for the skirt.

Lol authentic ke u people will not kill me with laff

Its a gathered skirt by the way now lets do this.

First her measurement

Waist 17
Length 11
Fullness 36

Here are pictures from a recording our boss did with NTA last week.the art of teaching is a gift and if its there you could teach anyone.our boss the person of Valerie Boglo taught a group of young stars who came visiting Valisimo Fashion school on their Fun Bus.its was fun all the way and the kids were so excited. They all sat on actual sewing machines and peddled for some time.they were shown how to tack buttons and make bow,fabric belt and eye patch for sleeping .it was so much fun and the presenter a very lovely young girl made the whole show really interesting. When it was time to go the kids had long and sad faces coz they wanted to stay longer with our boss who thaught them ;Dthe program will be aired this Thursday at 5:30pm hope u tune in to watch it

Regarding the book, there is another one you mentioned in another thread also by Alison Smith. Which of the two books will be best for a beginner or do you advice i get both? I am thinking some of what is in both books might be a repeat. The two books are "The sewing book" and "Dressmaking".

Its the updated version. There are some topics on this that's not on the previous one.the first one was done 2009 the other 2 came as extract from the 2009 edition in 2011.they are not as big as the first one

I posted this b4 so I will just explain further.

EFOSAVAL: my waist is 36 and my hip is 42.that's 6 inch out of my hip measurement.so I am going to take the excess out on the waist as dart on both blocks.each block will have 3 inch as dart.

meaning that each dart will be 1.5 when you multiply that by 4 you get 6 which is the excess we took out from the waist to shape the hip.

Now your sleeve question
Using the diagram below the higher u make or cut from the shoulder part to the armpit part the more puffs u would get when sewing

Yes stiff is a type of non fusible interfaceing.OK let me go into interfacing now.

But before then let me talk on bands for noncy21 who asked me to put her through.I would love to show u with pictures but it just because I haven't done anything with band lately that's why I haven't talked about it yet.and to the lady that asked for bow trust me I did not forget u too just give me time to do them so I can post pictures
