If you are asking if Buhari/Bakare would have made a better team, Yes would have.

Am sure the investment of PDP in North is paying off. The heartless actions of disgruntled elements in the North is oiling the PDP agenda to the fullest. Am sure there have been a big relieve to all the crook politicians, who may have planned emergency vacations earlier.

As it stands now, I hope Jonathan will be man enough to implement some of the lead agendas of Buhari (for the good of Nigeria). Some of wish include:

- Scrap the office of The First Lady
- Bring accountability in governance
- De-centralize the power of the FG and delegate some to States and LG
- Unify the Police code and decentralize to Federal, State and community.
- Repair the 5 refineries that are down
- Rapid infrastructural development
- Employment
- etc.

Or are we going to continue this way?

Politics › My Priority Now Is To Build Nigeria – Jonathan by egift(op): 6:51pm On Apr 23, 2011
ABUJA- PRESIDENT Goodluck Ebele Jonathan said, weekend, that in the aftermath of the presidential elections, he is now focusing on building the nation, even as he, in his Easter message, urged all Nigerians to renounce violence and unite in the interest of peace and development of the country.

President Jonathan who spoke when a delegation of the G-20 Northern Political Summit Group paid a congratulatory visit to State House, said: “Now that the presidential election has been concluded, it is time to build our nation.”

He challenged political leaders in the country to work together for the common interest of the nation, adding that they should serve as the pillars upon which the future of the country would be built on.

President Jonathan said the G-20 deserved to be congratulated for “working so hard to dilute the ethnic divisions” in the country during the campaigns.

While lauding the G-20 Northern Political Summit Group for hosting the Northern Economic Summit, he said Government would consider the recommendations for implementation in order to improve the economy of the North.

Earlier, Alhaji Hassan Adamu, Wakilin Adamawa, and leader of the G-20, had congratulated President Jonathan for his success in the presidential elections, and prayed for the success of the administration.

He said that when the group advised him to seek re-election, “we knew at that time that you were chosen by God and at that time also, we knew that nobody will beat your ticket.”

Adamu said: “We pray that Allah continue to give you and the Vice President the good health and wisdom. During your campaigns you said you will be the President for all Nigerians, therefore, it is time for all Nigerians to support you in your quest to transform this country.”

In his Easter message, Jonathan expressed warm felicitations to the nation, and Christians in particular, stressing that they should apply the lessons of peace, love, selflessness and sacrifice for the common good.

Noting that this year’s Easter comes in the midst of historic elections that will further consolidate progressive democratic governance in the country, the President urged Nigerians to seize the opportunity of the season to reflect on its lessons, forsake hate and violence, and embrace peace and unity for the successful conclusion of the elections.

Hey Comechop and all those thugs insulting their families I hope you are not carried away by the useless Renaming of this thread at the Home page?

If you have followed my post on this thread,
- I condemned this horrible killing of fellow Nigerians.
- I also said with the level of hatred and division in this country, the there is no ethnic group if rigged out in the scheme of things that will not be angry, whether not North, South, East or West.
- The rate at wish these other groups will respond may not be known in comparison to the way these Abokis have reacted.
- I also maintain that poor leadership, poverty, injustice and poor leadership is responsible for the reason why these crises keep spring up without control.

Therefore, I blame the government the more for lack of security or lives in this country. I also blame our political elites (ruling and opposition) for using these crises to advance their political goals.

If some how you are not cannot accept this its ok. The problem continues. But for anyone to try to bully me into your hypocrisy - you better jump into a lagoon and do hug a Nuclear Reactor on your way out.

Crude Oil:
you are evil.
You can say that again if it makes your live easier. Nigeria will only get better if there is Justice. Let me ask:

- Name one case, crime or national tragedy that was successful completed in the last 5 years?
- Is it every Northerner that were killing people?
- Was it all Niger Delta person that was blowing things up?
- Was it all the Yorubas that went on rampage after the June 12 annulment or MKO's death?
- Did every Igbo man went into kidnapping?

I repeat for Nigeria to be better, the Government and Leaders in Nigeria owe it a duty to fish out those that have committed crime and prosecute them to the last limit of the law, irrespective of their origin and status.

For you all that is solution. And when they fight, kill and get killed again you will still be the ones to bounce around on your keyboards. Shame.

All Nigeria needs is for our leader to pursue unbiased Justice, Fairness and Equity for all irrespective of who is involved.

Let Offender be punished - no sentiments attached.
Let Citizens be protected - no sentiments.
Nigerian leaders should be held responsible for their actions and inaction - NO Sentiments Attached!

Until then, the worst may be yet to be seen.
Politics › Re: Would The South Be Peaceful If Jonathan Was Rigged Out by egift(op): 8:10am On Apr 23, 2011
It obvious a lot is wrong with Nigeria - are we ready to find solutions to it base on Justice, Equity and Fairness to everyone irrespective of Religion, Tribe or Linguistic background or are we still going to be sentiment and seek personal (or regional) ambitions? It is in our hands as Nigerians to decide.
Politics › Re: Would The South Be Peaceful If Jonathan Was Rigged Out by egift(op): 8:06am On Apr 23, 2011
My position is that there is no ethnic group in Nigeria that will keep quite if they are cheated in the scheme of things in this Nation. And as terrible as it is non-indegines may get hurt (we see that even when neighbouring communities disagree)

The only solution to Nigeria's problem is an unbiased Justice, Fairness and Equity. As long as our elites keep undermining the interest of the masses the unfortunate and horrible events of the recent past will keep repeating itself (even when its among brothers).

When i read through most of the responses on this thread I fur1ther weep for my beloved Nigeria. The level of hypocrisy is alarming.

The killing in the North is not justifiable by any standard. I condemn it. But if the reverse was the case (where Jonathan is the loser) will there have been peace in the South? Hell NO.

Most of the abuses here are uncalled for and displays most of you guys (the self-acclaimed peace lovers) in a very bad light.

Politics › Re: What If Fashola Loses? by egift(op): 7:35pm On Apr 22, 2011
In 1999, Bola Tinubu emerged as the governor of Lagos State on the platform of the defunct Alliance for Democracy (AD). He went on to emerge returning governor in 2003, during a period the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) swept up five south-west states; but Tinubu survived the scare and served a second term. In 2007, the Action Congress (AC), with Tinubu as front man, put forward a relatively politically unknown individual in the person of Babatunde Fashola, for the governorship poll. Contesting against seemingly more experienced politicians like Musiliu Obanikoro of the PDP and Jimi Agbaje of the DPA, Fashola seemed embroiled in a harder battle than that faced by his predecessor; but like his godfather, he also survived and became governor of Lagos State.

To say that the AD turned AC turned ACN has a stronghold on Lagos State would be stating the obvious. Fashola has had what is largely considered to be a successful first tenure as governor. It appears also that he is largely expected to win in Saturday’s gubernatorial elections. But what if Fashola loses in the elections? Fashola’s political existence draws its roots from a rich political dynasty. For the founding fathers and later generations and followers of this dynasty, the thought of Fashola losing in the elections is an abomination. The reinvigorated success enjoyed by the ACN in the south-west can no doubt be attributed to the dedicated efforts of the Tinubu clan at ensuring that Lagos remains in the family. If Fashola were to lose in the coming elections, it would very likely mark the beginning of the end of a dynasty, and that I presume would have far-reaching consequences.

If Fashola were to lose in Saturday’s elections, Nigeria would have moved in leaps and bounds as far as our democracy is concerned, and I do believe the word nascent would cease to be employed when describing our then not-so-fledgling democracy. The power of incumbency has been known to be overwhelming in Nigerian politics, and it is expected to play a huge role in the governorship elections. Fashola’s failure to return would reveal a different side to the Lagos voters. It would suggest that the electorate have matured and have transcended the various forms of political sentiment that suggest the most lurid of philosophies during election periods. The notion that it were better to vote for the devil one knows as against the angel one does not know would have been thrown out the window.

The result of the presidential election held last week has caused rioting, killings, and destruction of property in some parts of the country. Apparently, one of the pointers of the election is that our democracy may well still be nascent. The security lapse was obviously unforeseen by the authorities, and consequent loss of life and property was beyond the competence of those who should have ensured such incidents do not occur or are nipped in the bud early enough; but then, that has been our story as far as unrest in the north is concerned. This poses a fear for what the security implications of a Fashola failure at the polls might be. It is to be expected that if Fashola loses, certain segments of the population will not take it eating boli and epa, sipping pure water under a mango tree. But, since the security agencies have found no answer to the volatile tendencies of the north, it is a tempting thought that they will be nonplussed at similar security threats in Lagos.

If Fashola loses at the polls, we may get a new and improved blueprint for the development of Lagos State. That Fashola is a progressive is not in doubt, and neither is the fact that he has lofty ideas as far as the city of Lagos is concerned. However, it is also a fact that he is not the only one capable of this. In fact, whatever he is capable of, there is at least one other person capable of more. That said, a new plan, albeit better, may set us back a while. It would require new drawings, maybe new paintings for our BRT busses which may also require a re-christening. The revoking and re-awarding of contracts may also slow down the completion of certain projects, not to mention the crisis likely to erupt with the Lekki Expressway.

With all said, Lagosians should go out and vote come Saturday – as we say these days – for their conscience. But it would be wise, not to mention safe, if we were to consider the possible outcomes of Fashola losing.

No, my brother. But I mean if it was Jonathan that was rigged out in the last Presidential Election, that:

- Nigeria's oil revenue would have dropped by half
