Business / Is Bet9ja Back For Good After Hack | Website Back by Eim9(m): 3:26pm On Apr 11, 2022
It is good news to many especially the customers of the popular Nigerian betting site, Bet9ja, that the site is now up and running and also without major negative impact to the platform.
Although the website was regained 6 days after the attack, the bet9ja management had to undergo a serious maintenance on the platform to ensure that the earnings of customers are intact, they also worked out modalities on how to compensate users and get more people to using and trusting the platform again, hereby sharing bonuses as promised.
But the main thing done during the maintenance was to ensure that all their security was put in place to avoid any repeat of this incident that caused them millions of naira in a downtime that lasted for 6 days.

A lesson to other platforms in Nigeria including financial institutions, will be to beef up their security and get Cybersecurity staff and consultants to look into the loop holes of their platforms and advice. They should also consider Security of their web applications and database to prevent or mitigate such from happening.
Although these things could be difficult to control, they need to be prepared for such and have measures put in place to ensure availability and confidentiality of their customers information.

How do you feel about the current status and what's your take moving forward.
Where you given a bonus, did you lose any of your winnings?

Nairaland / General / Bet9ja Is Not Working | Bet9ja HACKED! What Really Happened. by Eim9(m): 4:45am On Apr 08, 2022
It is no news by now that bet9ja has been hacked and this leaves users and customers asking questions like.
1. What happens to the money i deposited in my account.
2. What happens to my winnings yet to be withdrawn, would it be intact.
3. What happens to my card details saved on the platform, should i block the card, do those hackers have access to it.
4. What happens to my password, i used it for another account, do the hackers have the database of unhashed passwords
5. What happens to my current bet that is running and seems like i will win.

These and many more are questions users and customers are asking and are not getting answers to because the management and support staff are silent on this.

In my opinion, i don't think it was hacked by any Russian Hacker group. It was hacked by a Nigerian or Nigerians who have enough Cybersecurity knowledge.

Watch this video, i explained more and answered some of your questions.

Nairaland / General / Re: Here's Why You Shouldn't Always Trust Social Media Influencers by Eim9(m): 9:22pm On Feb 27, 2021
[have you watched quote author=Eim9 post=99356629]Most people just rush to join a business or register for something because it was recommended or advertised by a celebrity or an Influencer online. That shouldn't be the case.

Make your research if the product is good enough. If the platform is legitimate, if the platform has served previous customers well.

I have seen people getting ripped off after registering for something recommended by an influencer, I have seen people getting products that actually don't work. Whether it is a weight loss product, a beauty product, an item etc. When they come crying that they wasted their money etc. Nobody will believe them over the celebrity. Let me personalize this.

Nobody will believe you over that celebrity or influencer. The die hard fans will even insult you and say you are searching for clout or trying to ruin the influencers reputation. Even if you have a partner that was affected also, two or three affected individuals won't be able to convince the entire fans or audience about such a product or service recommended by that influencer being a hoax or fraud or poor in quality.

It is the truth that most of these social media influencers, just collect money and promote products and services, I mean, who get time dey research stuff when money dey involved right?
If they won't research the legitimacy of something. Do so before dabbling.

So, yes! MAKE YOUR RESEARCH. Check for the review of that person online, check for that service online and see if it is a working service or a scam, good thing Nairaland is a sweet platform for asking questions of any kind and is broad enough for people to share experiences.

I am sure I have done enough justice with this explanation. Comment if you have more to say or Input about this. Positive or Negative, we gather dey.

A friend of mine was contacted with an offer to be paid $100 for every article posted on his Facebook page.

A very tempting offer and this scammer had a nice way of convincing him as he said he wouldn't even require admin rights to the page and that my friend will be the one doing the posting on his page...

Unsuspecting enough, he sent a legit Facebook link for him to register and accept to the proposal. Guess what happened next??
