Katsumoto: I am tired of explaining to these fools.

My point isn't that you shouldn't buy/rent houses outside Alaigbo, my point is that you shouldn't say you can't trust someone and then proceed to live in his house.

Why are these chaps so dense?
and in your infinite wisdom sir, you think that one must trust his landlord or landlady as a prerequisite for renting a house. what do you really understand by the world "TRUST". Even a wife that has being married to a man for several years may not still trust him talk more of common rent-age agreement.. Katsumoto: I am always left dumbfounded by the logic employed by some folks.

You don't trust someone but you want to live in his house.

Doesn't it make sense that you stay far away from someone you don't trust?

There are Igbos who make their living in the West, forget about Lagos alone, go to Ibadan, etc

There are Igbos who live in Lagos for safety reasons and don't even go home for Christmas anymore. But it is the Yoruba man that he doesn't trust that he chooses to live with and not the Igbo man who may kidnap him in his village.

You say something but your actions demonstrate something else.
Dont we Pay rent for your so called houses we livehuh? My fathers house in owerri has 2 yoruba and 1 Igala tenants whats the big deal.. Nobody stops you from taking a bus to Owerri or Enugu to come stay do your business and own investments.. Me thinks its the yoruba people guilty conscience that it chasing them. Even the hausa man feels so free to do his business in the east more than the yoruba man when they should be the one wary of an igbo attack. Its the igbo mans nature to migrate and do business in other communities all over the world and this enterprising nature of the igbo man should never be seen as desperation or a cause to envy and destroy his investments whenever there is a slight chaos..

U and I know about the Awolowo initiated economic plan after the war which the then Nigerian government issued out 20whatever to all igbos not minding their investment worth in Lagos, kano and other part of the country and the impounding and reallocation of igbo properties and assets in most parts of the country. Me thinks and i know its true that Awolowo embarked on that "Sweet" economic plan to swing the economic tide and boom of the igbo man to his people(of course the hausa man was never a challenge economically) and somehow for the next ten years he succeeded cause the Yoruba took over economically but see today the igbo man is back on top and booming...
Nwanne..

The arguement of 'addressing and reconcilation' is one that I cant argue against. In an ideal society, thats the best method of conflict resolution. However, The principal actors in this war are all dying off one after the other. Ojukwu is dead, Awolowo is dead as well, Gowon according to official records just turned 78 this month and is just a few miles to the grave, Murtala Mohammed is dead, many others are either dead or close to the grave..

I am not ignorant of the lives that were lost during that war, thats why I have always said it that the price we paid for a failed secession was not worth it at all.. Even if we had succeeded, it still was too freaking expensive.

The war and the back and forth accusation and rivalry between Yorubas and Igbos on the one hand and Hausas and Igbos on the other hand has really contributed to putting us at a disadvantage politically.

I honestly feel that the rest of Nigeria has since moved on past that war. For Biafra to ever be revisted again would have to be done by prolly and Igbo President. However, I think its foolish of us to sit back sulking and holding on to the past, waiting for those who have moved on to come back and dialogue with us. Mba.. Its time to restrategize.. Form new alliances. Learn from the past mistakes and take steps to make sure it never repeats itself. But to isolate ourselves, is not the solution sir.

If the Yorubas dont apologise, does that mean we would continue to remain like this?!! I hope not..

For me o!! Biafra is a dead topic.. I dont think anyone of us are ready to take up arms right now.. NIGERIA is what we have. Even Ojukwu after the war tried to rule this same country. Note: No Igbo man has been President since after the war.. The closest we came to president was with Alex Ekwueme being the deputy of Shehu Shagari.. and maybe Ukiwe (under Babangida..). For us to rule this country, we need to form an alliance with either the west or the North. We cant do this alone..
Igbo is politically disadvantaged...yes thats true but economically, eductaionally and in all other qualifications, we remian far ahead so please nwanne dont sound as if we are that backward..Even all the marginalization cannot stop the average igbo man from pursuing his goals towards actualization.

The issue on discussion is will there ever be unity btw the yoruba man and the igbo man void of hypocrisy and pretense and i pointed out that the Igbo man does and will never trust the yoruba man though we can live together but that animosity and suspicion will ever be present due to grievances based on the yoruba role in the war. Yes others may have moved on because it didn't affect them the way it affected the Igbo man(He that wears the shoes knows where it bites), the people of Odi may have moved on but they would never erase from memory the brutalization of their sons and smile as if nothing happened and never call for a compensation. the Igbo man is a progressive and indeed has excelled since 1970 in all ramifications except perhaps politically barring all the setbacks of the war, the tough measures put in place to deter the economic strengths of the igbo man and the negative aftermath implications even we the generation that never witnessed the war are still experiencing till date.We have moved on Yes but that would not stop well meaning igbo sons and daughters from seeking for a redress and an apology from our trusted allies before the war( which unfortunately the Yoruba man has blatantly refused to own up to), the hausa man has never being an ally and we don't expect anything from them. (If the Muslim Bosnians moved on like you suggested they wouldnt have seeked for redress over the Serb murderers who massacred them after so many years at the International courts). As for the Biafra war issue and your comment that it wasn't necessary and shoudnt have being embarked upon i have only this to say to you " An elder does not sit around ,fold his hands and watch the she goat deliver with a rope tied around its neck"
PoliticsRe: Igbo And Yoruba Unity - How Possible? by ejifranks(m): 1:40pm On Oct 30, 2012
Its funny how we Igbos seem to put the blame of Biafra on the Yorubas.. All they did was weigh the impact of a decision previously agreed upon and thought it too expensive a price to pay and reneged..

So;

- Yorubas and Igbos have an agreement to to secceed and the Yorubas changed their minds.. (Offense number 1.)

- Awolowo was blamed as being responsible for giving Gowon the idea of starving the Biafrans.. (Offense Number 2)

But..

* Gowon the HOD was not a Yoruba Man
* The Pogrom wasnt Started by Yorubas
* Some Yorubas also fought for Biafra.

I think its easy to simply carry out internal healing and just move on.. We have held on to this issue for too long.. The blame is on everybody.. Heavily on us Igbos as well..

Lets just move on. The dead from that war have since been buried..
.History remains important for one reason, there are libraries and historical archives for this same reason and as far as man exists this reason will always hold; You cant forge ahead into the future without reflecting on the past and how you got where you are presently.. The igbo past retrospections on Nigeria remains one of agony and deprivation and till date the war against the igbo man is still on. Internal healing can only be possible when all parties own up to their faults and seek for real reconciliation but the Nigeria situation is far from that and hence the igboman is still being marginalized and treated as vanquished elements in this nation then we cant move ahead.. the root issues that prompted this grievances will always pop up.. so my brother okija juju it is not as easy as you see it, it was not goats and rams that were battered and massacred in the war but humans,my brothers and my sisters,my mothers and my fathers, a future generation that would have shaped a rising entity... The Yoruba man needs to apoligize to the igboman for his part in the Biafra genocide or else the distrust will continue...
PoliticsRe: Igbo And Yoruba Unity - How Possible? by ejifranks(m): 1:16pm On Oct 30, 2012
Having lived around Yoruba neighbors in Jos and and Lagos, i have come to realise that a yoruba man and an igbo man can never be in unity at its purest.. It would only be pretense and lip service. The animosity between this two is irreconcilable as the yoruba man envies the igbo man while the igbo man distrusts the yoruba man to a fault, the hausa man fully understands this rift and has and will continue using it as a tool for manipulating and dominating them. The only remedy remains a Confederacy or a Split.... Truth is bitter but it must be told..
PoliticsRe: Igbo And Yoruba Unity - How Possible? by ejifranks(m): 12:26pm On Oct 30, 2012
Having lived close to yorubas in my hood in Jos and also in lagos, I come to realise that the typical yoruba man will never gel with the' omoigbo '.the height of envy(from the yorubaman) and distrust(from the igbo man) between this two I doubt can ever be reconciled. The aboki man knows this and has and will continue to use this to manipulate ruie and dominate all sectors and indeed the country. the differences are irreconciliable and the only remedy is split. Truth is bitter but it must be voiced.shikena

Its a pity and a sweet irony that the same people you Gowon spearheaded wined and dined with and supported in the mass decimation of the Igbo nation have turned on your berom brothers with samme brutality. Its a shame that you can no longer stay and live comfortably in your mansion at feringada Jos for fear of attacks from your former lovers. Its dishonourable and stupid that while you go about claiming you are leading a prayer for national unity you still have the audacity to mouth these wicked statements. Nairaland GeneralTop 5 Reasons Why People Fail In Life by ejifranks(op): 4:11pm On Oct 25, 2012
Why do some people achieve their goals while others fail? I believe it's because successful people manage to overcome five barriers that, in many cases, guarantee failure. Here are those barriers and how to overcome them:

1. Uninspiring Goals

When most people set goals, they envision a "thing," such as a particular amount of money, an object (like a new car), or a specific achievement (like writing a book). Unfortunately, these "things I'm gonna get or do" goals don't appeal to the core of what motivates you, because they miss the point that what you're actually seeking in life and work is the POSITIVE EMOTIONS that you believe those things will produce.

Fix: Rather than envisioning a "thing" as your goal, envision--with all the strength in your imagination--how you will feel when you achieve the goal. That way, you'll be inspired to do whatever it takes (within legal and ethical bounds) to achieve that goal.

2. Fear of Failure

If you're afraid of failing, you won't take the necessary risks required to achieve your goal. For example, you won't make that important phone call, because you're afraid that you'll be rebuffed. Or you won't quit your dead-end job and start your own business because you're afraid that you might end up without any money.

Fix: Decide--right now!--that failure, for you, is a strictly temporary condition. If things don't go the way you'd like, it's only a setback that, at most, delays your eventual success. In other words, accept the fact that you'll sometimes fail, but treat that failure as an unavoidable (yet vital) component in your quest.

3. Fear of Success

In many ways, this fear is even more debilitating than the fear of failure. Suppose you achieved something spectacular, like enormous wealth. What if it didn't make you happy? What then? What if you ended up losing all of it? What then? Would your friends start acting weird? Would your family be envious? Such thoughts (and they're common) can cause even a highly motivated person to self-sabotage.

Fix: Decide that you're going to be happy and grateful today and happy and grateful in the future, no matter what happens. Rather than focus on possible problems, envision how wonderful it would be to be able to help your friends and family achieve THEIR goals. (Hint: Watch the last season of the TV series Entourage!)

4. An Unrealistic Timetable

Most people vastly overestimate what they can do in a week and vastly underestimate what they can do in a year. Because of this, most people try to cram too many action items into the short term rather than spacing out activities over the long term. The inability to get all the short-term steps accomplished creates discouragement and the impression that the final goal is slipping away.

Fix: As you list the activities and steps required to achieve a goal, schedule only the 20% of the activities that will produce 80% of your results. (I explain more about this in the post The Secret of Time Management.) Beyond that, set ambitious long-term timetables, but always leave some "wiggle room" when you plan short term.

5. Worrying About "Dry Spots"

It's easy to get discouraged when you reach a point at which nothing you do seems to advance you toward your goal. For example, suppose you're trying to master a certain skill. You make swift progress at first but then, after a while, it seems as if you're not doing any better, or maybe a little worse. Some people use these "plateaus" or "dry spots" as an excuse to give up and therefore fail.

Fix: Whenever you reach a plateau or dry spot, it's time to celebrate rather than give up. A plateau is almost always a sign that you're on the brink of a major breakthrough, if you just have the patience to stick with it and trust that you'll eventually achieve your goal.
