FamilyBaby Talk: Observing Your Baby’s Speech Development. by ekaromail(op): 11:45pm On Feb 15, 2013
Babies start learning the art of talking from their first one year. Before they speak their first word, they closely watch the adults around them and try to understand how they talk and how talking can be used for communication.

Babies mostly start the learning process by using their tongue and lips to make sounds. At first They cry, and then they start to "coo."

This usually takes place within the first three months. If you notice, babbling follows shortly after the oohs and with more practice, those sounds become words, real words that you and I can understand. They start to say the names of their elder siblings or anyone around them.

The saying that a child’s first bible is the people he/she has around is not a joke because as time goes on, your baby will learn more words from you, the parents, and everyone else around. As your baby develops mentally, emotionally, and physically, he/she also develops the use words so as to communicate better.

HOW TALKING STARTS AND DEVELOPS IN BABIES

I have long believed that language understanding starts while the baby is still in the womb. The baby gets used to his/her mother's heart beat as well as voice and he/she knows the difference between your voice and that of others.

Your baby’s first form of communication is crying and this happens between the period of birth to 3 months. As time goes on, the cry will change in sound and texture and will mean wanting attention for different things. As they grow, their use of sound will develop as well and
at this stage, they start to recognize what words really sound like and how they are used to structure sentences.

At 6 months, babbling starts in earnest. You find them combining two word letters, e.g. "tata". Note that though your child may start calling you mama but he/she is actually yet to attribute the name to you, it will take more time. Also at this time, your child will start to respond to he/her name.

At one years old, your baby’s babbling starts to make sense to you. That is because he/she has started trying out words similar to what they hear you use. You as a parent can help improve your child’s babbling by both talking and reading to him/her.

At two years, your child would have started using more words, and the good thing about it is that they know the meaning of what they are saying. They now realize the power of language communication.

At three years plus, babies usually would have learnt a number of basic words that they understand and they push on to learn more. You the parent, have to watch what language you use around your baby so as to prevent them from learning abusive words. Pronunciations may confuse your child but it won’t stop them from putting words together.

The vocabulary development will continue at age five. Not only will their words make sense to you, they will also be able to understand what you say to them and do as you instruct. At this stage, you can even have a meaningful conversation.

What Role Should You Play?
The major things you can do to help your child develop his/her speaking ability quickly is to

1. Talk to them.
2. Pay attention to what they say and respond
3. Read to them.

You are the best person to observe and know your child's development. If you notice some unusual behavior that you think may prevent your child from learning how to talk, quickly see a pediatrician for tests and evaluation. Quick action will save you and your baby a lot of anxiety and stress.
In my next article, I will list out some signs that show that your baby’s speech development may be hindered so that you will know if and when to go for help.

Till then, have a fun talk time with your baby. Cheers.

Literature/Writing AdsGHOST WRITING: Writing To Please Your Clients by ekaromail(op): 3:01am On Feb 02, 2013
I have done a lot of writing in my life. Some were for fun, while others were serious projects.
As a writer, clients will come to you with several jobs, ranging from the ones you are familiar with to those you are completely ignorant of. But because someone who was very pleased with your work referred a client to you, the new client will want to believe that you can handle their projects by carrying out the necessary research and skillfully writing it down. Now the question is this, as a writer, how do you get your clients to continuously hire your services?

Three Ways To Keep Your Clients Coming Back;

1. Only Accept Jobs You Are familiar with. If a potential client comes to you to write him a book or articles on topics you are not familiar with, just plainly but politely let him/her know that you are not an expert in that field. Oh yes, you may think to yourself, “But if I research this topic, I will be able to do it.” Hey! Just back off from the offer okay, even if the pay is huge and you really need it. It is better to keep your good name than to soil it forever.
This was one mistake I made once and I vowed to not do it again. Why? Well this was what happened. I accepted a project work from a client. The project topic was something I really knew nothing about and so, I went straight into research. Did I find anything useful? Yes. Did I clearly understand what I found? No, I only understood half of it. The other half just refused to be clear. You see, I am someone who learns faster when the basics of any subject is thought to me through explanation. Reading articles or books has always been a last resort for me because I do better with explanations. So, I started to look for videos on the topic and when I eventually found one, I still could not fully understand the other half. I spent some more time re-reading and re-watching the materials with me. Finally, the topic sank completely. I understood it and from then on knew what was expected of me but, there was one problem. I had spent so much time researching and now, my submission deadline was just a few hours away. Immediately, I started work but with anxiety and fear that I might not meet the deadline. Disappointing a client is one thing I dislike a lot because it spoils my reputation. Well to cut long story short, I did not meet the deadline but when I did submit, I made sure my client had no reason to complain. It was the only way to pacify him. Now this particular client was understanding and patient with me but, how sure are you that yours will be too. Prevention they say is better than cure.

2. Even if you are very familiar with the project title you are working on, make sure you ask questions. Know more about what the project should look like from the client’s point of view. If the client has a website and your assignment is related to it, go over and browse through it. This will help you understand your assignment better and how your client wants it done.

3. Most importantly, whatever project you decide to take on, handle it like it is your personal work. Don’t lazy on the job like it’s no man’s business because the truth is this, since you accepted the job, it became your business. If you handle it seriously, you will do justice to it and your client will be pleased enough to come back for more jobs and also refer other clients to you.

The three points above are simple and easy to understand. As a writer I hope you will follow it. Even if you are not into writing but you offer a service, this applies to you too.

Cheers

FashionStop Letting Fashion Trends Dictate To You by ekaromail(op): 2:44am On Feb 02, 2013
If you are coming here with the hope that I will tell you what the next fashion trend is and why you should follow it, you are in the wrong place. I will give you no protocol or trend to follow but what I have to give is something much better.

Stop Letting Fashion Dictate To You;
Fashion is something that is not and never will be static. All year round, fashion takes different and sometimes unexpected turns both in colors, design, texture, products, surgery and so much more. Most of what turns up in the fashion world is actually crazy. Crazy as in not cool at all, but others, are really amazing and beautiful.

In as much as it is good to have the trendy things of the fashion world, it is also time consuming, costly and some of them are harmful in ways you cannot begin to imagine. For example, how crazy enough can it be to spend time searching for a dress both online and offline, only to discard it because someone else has it? (Time consuming) or, spending over a thousand dollar for sets of dresses all because they are in vogue(expensive). When you look back at your bank account after such expenses, you will have yourself to blame. Also, there is the part of plastic surgery (harmful). Most people who went under the knife all in the name of wanting a better body shape or face lift would do anything if given the power, to rewind the hands of time and retain their natural God given body. There are also those who never feel good about themselves all because they have seen what fashion tagged "the perfect body" posing in front of a magazine. In today’s society, most people find themselves living according to what fashion dictates.

HOW?
In today’s world, fashion dictates almost everything we do. Below is a list;

Fashion tells you how you should look in appearance.
Fashion tells you what cream to use for your skin
Fashion tells you what to eat.
Fashion tells you what medications to take in relation with weight loss
Fashion tells you to do surgery so as to get better body endowments
Fashion tells you who to date.
Fashion determines how much we spend on our wardrobe.

Funny enough, most of the things fashion tells you to do are things that could affect you negatively one way or the other, but fashion has it’s claws deep in our skin and so you find both men and women, and boys and girls buying new fashion books, magazines, DVDs and so on just to know what else fashion has to say.

But what I do believe is this. “The first step to fashion is being you.” This way you will not easily harm yourself.

Don’t be, or force yourself to be someone else. That is one of the biggest mistakes you can make. So get to work, put aside your fashion magazines, books, DVDs and fashion websites, they have tossed you around long enough. Now it is time to take a good look at yourself and know what you want.

The first step to knowing what you want is to know that fashion is not only about meeting up to the every one’s social status via clothes, hair styles, skin products, shoes and so on. It is about who you are, how you want it and where you want it without compromising your looks.

I have come across people who wore a particular hair style or clothes that they designed for themselves and looked really good in it. Others out there see it, they love it and before long, they copy it. These ignorant fashion followers follow the crowd and so, they easily get lost, but you know who you are and what you want, and going for it is a very bold step in the right direction.

So below are lists of thing you can do

1. Know who you are.

2. Feel good about yourself; your body shape, size and appearance.

3. Know what outfits, styles and products go with your personality,
4. Then, go for it

Let no one make you feel bad or intimidated about yourself or your looks. Every one of us is special and will always be special in our own ways.

Cheers!

LiteratureFantasy Island: A Fantasy Novel About Four Children Who Went To A Holiday Camp by ekaromail(op): 5:44am On Jan 25, 2013
The Author Speaks Of Her Novel, Fantasy Island: A fantasy novel about four children who went to a holiday camp located on an Island which lost it's glory and faced the threat of destruction.

Introduction: Karo Oforofuo is an indie author who has published one out of many written novels. She talks about the published novel "Fantasy Island: The Stolen Globe" and her challenges while writing it.
I have written a lot of short stories and novels but, Fantasy Island is my first published novel. I was out walking when the idea of a book came and it looked like fun to me so, I started off with the project. Unlike my other novels, I was really enthusiastic about this as I arrange the plot in my mind. What I really wanted to portray was a beautiful world where everything was great, more like a paradise. But of course man has a way of turning things around and greed happens to be one of the driving forces. This is what Fantasy Island is about. I used kids as my heroes because they are pure at heart and care more about little things than adults do. In my story, the kids saved the day and had a very unusual experience doing it as well as making new friends. The main characters are of course fictional but portrayed us in many ways. Let me start with Ken. Ken: Ken's character was that of a person who against all odds tried to take everyone along and he did not take sides. When his two best friends Nick and Paul protested about bringing Telma into their clique. he let them know that she earned her position because she first asked to go with him to the Island and by the way, going to the Island was her birthday gift to him. Also he did not let the boys pick on Telma and he did his best to make her feel welcomed. Nick: Nick's character was that of person who is very careful about everything. He tries to look at the effects certain things could have on him and his friends. Although he was more opposed to Telma and her plans than the others were, he joined and even supported Ken whenever he chose to follow Telma's suggestions. Paul: Paul was a glutton, a clown and a happy person. He never allowed his fatness get the better of him. Though he did not also like Telma at first, he later took her as one of his pals and unlike Nick, he did not mind going along with Telma's plans for adventure. Although he constantly longed for food, the rigors of jungle life made him trim down and he decided to stop the food habit and maintain his shape. Telma: Telma was the master planner of the whole adventure; it was her idea all the way. She had only just been discharged from the hospital when Ken invited her to his birthday party. Little did he know that she had plans of her own. Telma promised to give him a fulfilling birthday gift and truly she kept to her promise. She had been to the Island before and made friends with some people and creatures, she loved her experience on the Island and wanted to share it with Ken as a way of thanking him for inviting her to his party. Though she felt bad about Nick’s attitude towards her, she was happy that Ken actually accepted her from the start. Eltaca: Eltaca lived in Fantasy Island and represented both the human species and the panther species. Right from the moment the kids stepped into the Island, she sensed their quest for adventure and decided to let them have it. The Island needed to be saved and she picked the children to join her in saving it. Her character was more motherly than friendly. She did all she could to make sure the children remained alive and well. My Challenge: My only challenge in writing this book was time. I didn't have it enough because of my job. I was teaching in a secondary school and the curriculum was tight. Most times I came back home too tired to even look at my manuscript. But somehow, I found a way to finish the book. I enjoyed writing it, I hope you will enjoy reading it. An Excerpt From Fantasy Island. Although the sky was cloudy, morning was much brighter than night. The house gradually lit up and one could hear birds whistling outside. Ken was the first to open his eyes, he felt different but did not know why, then he stretched out and yawned, but instead of seeing his hands, he saw the hands and claws of an animal. In complete shock, he jumped up and looked at himself. "Oh God!! What is this?" he looked up at the others who were still asleep, they too had changed over night. They no longer had the body of a human; they were now panthers, all black in color except Ken, who was dark blue. "This must be a dream, and I have to find a way to wake up." He started to hit his head against the wall but only succeeded in making noise that woke the others up. They opened their eyes and saw a panther hitting himself against the wall. Out of fear and not knowing that the panther was actually Ken, they all jumped up and screamed, the screams got even louder when they looked at themselves and saw what they had become. Ken stopped hitting himself and walked up to them. "Ken?" asked Nick, "Is that really you? or the real deal?" "It's me," came the sad reply. "But how did this happen?" asked Paul. Telma moved around taking note of every-thing while the boys continued to rant about their unfortunate condition. "I hate to burst your bubble guys, but, it seems we had a visitor last night." The others rushed to her side. "How do you know that?" asked Ken, "Look!" said Telma as she showed them the prints of an animal on the floor. "It is the only print I can find and I suspect it was a panther, the size is bigger than ours but looks exactly like ours, fits perfectly too." Nick noticed something and moved a little away from the others to look at it tho-roughly, "Hey guys? did you notice the plates are cleaned out and kept in their place? I don't remember anyone of us having the strength to wash up last night.” "Oh!" gasped Telma in surprise, "The pot is washed too!” “Am beginning to suspect that the food is the reason for this" said Ken. "So, I was right then" said Nick, "It was a set up right from the start, the scene was just too perfect, a pot of porridge, four plates, four spoons, four blankets, and two beds? Someone knew we were coming." "We better get out of here before anything else happens" Said Paul stammering "I agree" said Telma, "And since it's impossible to carry our bags along, I suggest we hide them before going." The four panthers with the aid of their mouth, pulled the bags under the bed and covered them with the blankets. Since the door was not locked, it was easy to push it wide open and step out. The air was not that fresh due to the rot but, the woods had brightened up, even though the sky was still covered with dark clouds. "I can't believe I came in here a human and am leaving a panther" said Ken, "This is so, so weird." “I know" said Telma, "But I also know someone who can help us out of this." "Please tell me you're not just trying to make us feel good?" asked Nick, "Well" she replied, "That is exactly what am trying to do and actually, I do know some-one, it's been quite a long time, I only hope he hasn't moved away from home." "And where is home? If I may ask," asked Paul, "About three hours north from here, but, with a panther's body, I think we will get there in time if we run." "Then we better get going" said Ken as he leaped from the pavement to the ground. The others joined him and in an instant, four of them raced away with great speed. RomanceGet Pregnant And Keep Your Relationship by ekaromail(op): 4:12am On Jan 24, 2013
As I wrote this article, I pondered on so many questions. One of them is “why can’t a male and female live independently? That is to say, why can’t a man live without needing a woman and vice versa? That way, a lady can be alone and conceive a child without needing a man to impregnate her; also, a man wouldn’t need to be with a woman in other to become a father. Now I don’t mean this from the gay point of view. What I mean is complete independence.

Life will be less difficult if such could happen. Of course, some women do visit the sperm banks when they want to get pregnant without the physical presence of a man. But of course, that is a topic for another day. The real issue I wish to write on is the trend attached to getting married these days. It’s not new, but it has become the order of the day. What is the issue? Pregnancy Before Marriage.
630% of weddings I attended last year alone had pregnant brides who were either two or three months due. This left me with just one question, “WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GOOD OLD WAYS OF PREGNANCY AFTER MARRIAGE?”

Back in the days, pregnancy before marriage was a stigma not only on the bride, but also her immediate and extended family. Then, ladies did everything possible to avoid being in such situation but now, ladies will do anything to get pregnant because their boyfriend, lover, fiance or in-laws to be has said, “NO PREGNANCY, NO MARRIAGE”.

In the cartoon movie “Lion King,” there was a part were little Simba and Nala were in danger but when Nala voiced her fears, Simba, with all boldness and the need to show his strength as the next king of the pride boldly said “I laugh in the face of danger, ha ha ha” he laughed. But unfortunately, when true danger stared him on the face, he knew that the time for laughing was up. Now there are so many women out there who will say “no man can give me such conditions, I won’t take it.” But when it happens, then like Simba, they realize that things do happen.

As at the time of this write up, I read about a lady who fainted twice when she was given the “no pregnancy, no marriage ultimatum” by her fiance and also, another story of a lady who after being given this same condition for marriage is now so desperate to get pregnant but she can’t. It seems to me that her anxiety isn’t helping issues because tests show that nothing is wrong with her womb. Her feeling of fear, doubt and anxiety has made all efforts to get pregnant void. But again, when I hear or read such stories, I ask myself “what if it’s the man who has the problem and is not aware? I equally read about a woman who couldn’t get pregnant for her husband for three years. But in one moment of unfaithfulness, she conceived. It was later discovered that her husband was not capable of impregnating a woman, and this is a husband who almost sent his wife packing because he thought she was barren.

Well, the main reason for this write up is to give simple solutions that will help a woman get pregnant without hustles. No offense, but this will only work if the womb has not been tampered with. If you have been given the no pregnancy no marriage ultimatum, just follow these steps.
1. LET GO OF ANXIETY: Anxiety can cause one a lot of problems, even in your everyday living. When anxiety set in, it’s like all of nature rises up against you. Relax your mind and just be you. Fear and doubt can cause you more harm than you are physically aware of.
2. MEDICAL CHECK UPS: Both partners should visit the doctor regularly for checkups and advise. This way certain problems can be spotted and eliminated in time.
3. MAINTAIN GOOD HYGIENE: Both the man and woman must maintain proper hygiene. Most men take personal hygiene for granted, forgetting that infections are not in town for the ladies alone. Please clean up well at least two times a day. For the woman, make sure you take proper care of your body because, it is three times easier for a lady to get infections than it is for a man.
4. NUTRITION: Practice proper nutrition. Both partners should maintain a good health condition by eating the right stuff. Eat plenty of proteins, minerals, iron and vitamins that are easily digestible. Avoid drinking, smoking, drugs and other harmful substances. A healthy sperm needs to fertilize a healthy egg. If a man or woman takes in hard drugs, even if pregnancy comes they MAY end up parenting a deformed baby.
5. KNOW YOUR BODY: This applies to the woman. It is very important to know your ovulation period. Learn charting; know all you can about fertility, timing for conception and your menstrual cycle. The timing between ovulation and the next menstrual cycle is mostly fixed at 14 days, though it does not apply to all women. It is better to have sexual intercourse between these periods as it increases your chance for conception.
6. PRAYERS: Till date, God answers prayers. Call to him and you won’t be disappointed.

NOTE: Please ladies, only get pregnant if you are sure your man will marry you. If you are in doubt, don’t do it so you don’t end up being a single mother. wink

CHEERS.

FamilyCloth Diapers: The Benefits Of Using Cloth Diapers by ekaromail(op): 10:37pm On Jan 21, 2013
Over the years, technology had brought in new inventions that have helped save us a lot of stress in the way we go about doing things. Some are for the best while others are just there to take our money and give us lousy results. One of such is the diapers we use for our babies today. We have different brands of diapers but today, we will be looking at cloth diapers. Cloth diapers are not the same thing they used to be years ago when our mothers used it for us. They get to wrap the baby in it then use pins to hold it together. No that's not what the latest cloth diapers are like and from what I have seen, Cloth diaper is the best to use for babies and if you choose to make use of it, it will be the best decision you've made for your baby.
I have observed of people's experiences and I can boldly say that cloth diapers have great advantages over disposable diapers.

The Advantages of Using Cloth Diapers:

Baby's Skin Care: Cloth diapers, unlike disposable diapers can be washed and used again. In fact, it can be used for a very long time. How does washing it care for the baby's skin? When using cloth diapers, you find that you have to change it more often than when you use disposable diapers. Since you have to change diapers much more often, the baby would spend less time in it and so therefore, is less likely to get diaper rash. Having a diaper socked with urine staying close to the baby's skin for a long time is not a good thing. Why? Because urine can be acidy and therefore more likely to burn the baby's skin. Also, disposable diapers contain toxic chemicals which can cause skin diseases, genetic disorders and even cancer. The chance of them harming your child is less but, it is better not to risk it. Remember that your child's health must have upper most priority. Using cloth diaper will help keep your baby rash free and comfortable.

Affordable: Cloth diapers, unlike disposable diapers are cheap. All you have to do after using them once is to wash clean and keep. Disposable diapers can only used once before they are thrown away. This means that you have to constantly spend money every day or week as the case may be just to make sure you don't run out of stock. For example I bought disposable diapers for my baby at the cost of $45 per pack. After the first week, I run out of stock and go again to buy some more for another $45 and this repeats itself the upper week. So far, I would have spent $135 in two weeks. But if I buy a pack of cloth diapers for $60 -$70, I would not need to go back for more because I can re-use it after washing. My final statement here is that the price of cloth diaper may seem high at first but, consider the amount of money you get to save than when you use disposable diapers.

Multiple Functions: Unlike disposable diapers that have only one use, cloth diaper can be multipurpose. Even when the baby isn’t excreting or urinating on himself anymore, they can still were it around the house to play. All you have to do is make sure they are clean.

Toxic Waste: So many mothers make use of disposable diapers year in year out and since it is something that has to be bought and used all the time, the number of used disposable diapers is really high. Now calculate the ones used in one household and multiply it by the number used by billions of mothers out there. The result is terrifically high isn't it? Now, go checkout the landfills and you will see that these used diapers containing feces and urine are thrown in there every year and because they don't biodegrade, they become hazardous waste just sitting there, full of bacteria and contaminating the environment. Cloth diapers are used and kept and as such, it is termed earth friendly.
Cloth diapers are very good and friendly to use, you only need have the time and willingness to keep the diapers clean. In so doing you will be helping the environment, saving cash and most importantly ensuring your child's health is not at risk. If you are scared of leakage, buy the tight fitting ones and you will have nothing to worry about.

camp in a far away Island to spend the holiday. On getting to the
Island, they saw that the beauty which it once
possessed was gone. The sun was blotted out by dark clouds and the
decay caused a terrible stench.

Not knowing the real cause of the problem, Telma helped the other
children plot and carry out an escape away from the guards and the
camp it self.

After escaping from the camp guards so as to catch their own fun, they got turned into Panthers by an old friend who explain that she needed help to save the Island from its terrible state.

Being that they wanted adventure, the children decided to help, not minding the dangers that will follow.
