The usual argument:

Why is a bag of rice 40,000 naira?

Well several reasons:

1) Some of our greedy farmers prefer to take all those loans from the Government through the Anchors borrowers program, produce the rice and then export to Francophone countries to make more money thereby creating some form of scarcity.

2) Rice should not have been 8,000 naira in the time of Jonathan but most likely around 20,000 naira then. Jonathan was definitely subsidising some of these imports judging by the price differentials compared to other countries. Remember we were importing almost all of our rice then. This Government has changed that.

3) You can buy rice for 24,000 naira in some places in the north like Gombe.

4) There's almost nowhere in the world a
bag of rice is not more than 40,000 naira.

5) Flooding in October increased prices from 30,000 naira to 40,000 naira because even the largest rice farmland in Nassarawa (Olams farm) was completely submerged by flood. Over 25 million dollars worth of investment by Olams gone in October. Several other farmlands across the country were destroyed too.

6) We are still building more rice mills to become fully self sufficient. More rice mills would be commissioned along the way for us to even begin full exports like Thailand. Stay Tuned.

All multinational companies coming to nigeria are just because of population , They just want to utilize people and make money and japa.

Lagos has advantage in human resources ,but due to security and currency policies , no leading multi national companies will come to Nigeria

No need to worry ,Nigerians will adapt even if it increase to 500 naira per liter.

Going to meet USA,UK,france ambassadors in their embassy's or requesting ambassadors to visit him for discussion , is right thing for politician campaigning for Nigerian presidency .
These countries whether we like it or not, has huge influence in Africa and can make or mar even chances for securing the office or even undermine the presidency after winning.

Countries Like India,South korea,Japan etc are Tier 2 countries in international world order , These countries are really useful for trade ,investment etc which will be beneficial for Nigeria and candidate only after winning .

So either Obi thinks he is so sure shot to win presidency ,that he is campaigning for trade deals or he is catching cruise.

Atiku or tinubu would only visit embassys of tier 1 countries as as they know these are powerful and have a lot of influences on presidency race.These candidates wont visit embassys of tier2 countries ,but will request ambassadors to visit them for discussion or if these countries think their interest are served by visiting main players in the race , they will come on their own.


Its another matter why any candidate of main political parties have to visit tier 1 countries embassys to meet their ambassdors.
