It took me longer than 30 seconds, but the answer is 16 people. Basically, for each pair of people they shake hands. So if there are N people, there N choose 2 handshakes in total. Solving the equation (using a calculator basically): N choose 2 = 120 we have N=16. |
Iamsynord:Find a girlfriend who is willing to have sex before marriage. Patronizing prostitutes is bad for your pocketbook and bad for your health. |
I dated and loved a woman who didn't want to have premarital sex. It was one of the most frustrating periods of my life. In hindsight the only reason why I agreed to such is because I was suffering from deep depression. It just isn't worth it being in a relationship with a girl who doesn't put out, unless you are 100% sure you are going to marry her and the marriage is taking place in less than 6 months ![]() |
Breakup sex, yes |
I think I brought up a similar question with my parents when I was around 8 years old. Basically, I was concerned about the fate of my ancestors: if Christianity is a prerequisite for reaching heaven, then there is no way my pagan ancestors could have possibly made heaven. Which to me at the time seemed unjust and unfair, since they had no exposure to the religion. So either: 1) God is unjust, and sent almost all West Africans, Southern Africans, Indians, Chinese, and Native Americans to hell before about 1500 AD or so. 2) or God judges people who've never been exposed to his Word by a different standard than those he uses for people who have been exposed. In other words, our pagan ancestors still could have made heaven despite not being Christians. I'm inclined to believe #2. Though of course both options above assume that you believe in the existence of the Abrahamic God, which not everyone does. |
Zoharariel:I can't speak for the British, but why on earth would the US care a whit about Nigeria or Buhari? Nigeria is only relevant on the international stage because of high oil prices. Oil prices are plummeting (below $60/barrel: http://www.bloomberg.com/energy/), and moreover the US is itself a massive producer of oil, so needs nothing from Nigeria. |

Litmus:What difference is there between your attitude and an anti-African racist from Europe? Reconsider your thoughts and words. |
I've been seeing this girl for two weeks now. We've talk or hang out like 2+ hrs a day nearly every day. I don't think I've ever been impressed by a woman like this before. She is: 1) tall 2) beautiful 3) brilliant, well-educated 4) has overcome a lot of adversity in her life 5) trilingual (English, Hebrew, Russian) 6) Has been in her country's army 7) Really likes me a lot. I thank God, and hope that this sweet situation will last. |

They seem to have forgotten my name from the list ![]() ----- There has never been a more inspired generation of young Africans. These builders, innovators and risk takers are fervent in their resolve to transform the continent. They are solving critical socio-economic problems, exporting African culture to the world, creating job opportunities for Africans, re-telling Africa’s stories, and writing the future. Following a request I made last week, I received over 800 nominations for this year’s tally of Africa’s brightest young entrepreneurs under age 30. Seven of the names on this year’s list were featured last year, but there are 23 new rising stars you need to watch. Since there weren’t enough under-30 entrepreneurs who could meet the criteria, I included a few 30-year-olds. http://www.forbes.com/sites/mfonobongnsehe/2014/02/04/30-most-promising-young-entrepreneurs-in-africa-2014/ |
Fantastic work! |
Women don't produce enough testosterone to naturally get abs/definition like that. So either "she" is a "he", or she is taking some supplements. |
Since the box labels are potentially wrong, you may as well assume that they are unlabeled (the labels don't help you at all). |
Seems obvious how to do this with 4 draws (empty any of the two boxes fully determining the contents, and so by elimination you know what the third one contains). But not obvious to me how to do this in less than 4 draws. Even 3 seems challenging, no matter how I do it. Here are essentially the ways I can choose three draws: 1) Draw two balls from first box, one from second => If I'm unlucky in draws, still ambiguity about what box #2 and #3 contain 2) Draw one ball from each => Again, same deal. I could draw white, black, white. Does this correspond to {white, white}, {black, black}, {white, black}, or {white, black}, {black, black}, {white, white}? I'd need more draws to figure it out with this choices. I seem to be missing something that allows one to do less than 4. |

Very sad situation. Daily offsite backups should have been the norm. Of course, that is just focusing on the data loss, not passwords that might have been compromised.. |
She looks pretty good to me |
shymexx: How is that even possible when they don't even have the resources and firepower to defeat the Kurds and Shias in Iraq? Hezbollah have been tearing them a new ar.sehole for years now in Syria. Also, I believe you saw what the Egyptians did to Muslim brotherhood - so how is this propaganda possible? How are they're going to defeat the powerful Algerian army for this pipe-dream?Correct yarn |
Interesting. |
Happy new year to you OAM4J! Happy new year to everyone. |

What is the significance of the nickname 'cramjones'? |
If you want to write an operating system, device driver or a real-time video game, you need C or C++. But for most other tasks in computing, (e.g. internet servers/apps, desktop applications, distributed computing, etc), I think Java is performant enough, and also substantially safer (easier to write bug-free code) and requires less time to program the equivalent task than in say C or C++. |
