Live and let live, I guess.

With that said, such promiscuous behavior leads to high disease rates.

These same guys will be patronizing these prostitutes then bring illness to their wives undecided

birdman:

Wait until you have your own kids. We dont have a lot going for us, but we sure as hell wont be selling our family structure just to fit in. Before you know it, they will be asking that it should be taught as normal in schools. One generation later and our kids will be lamenting how we followed oyinbo man into destruction, like we always do.

Meh. I don't think gayness being taught in schools would make my kids gay...I personally think that it is mostly genetic.

Anyway, some parts of oyibo culture are good, others are bad.

Given that Nigerians are some of the most racist, xenophobic, tribalistic, sexist and bigoted people that exist on earth, I am not sure that I want my own kids to follow the Nigerian example...the oyibo one is better.

I am trying to become more tolerant as I grow older, and want my kids to be the same way.

Sports / Re: Your Assessment Of Keshi's Team To The Confederations Cup? by ektbear: 9:16am On Jun 24, 2013
mikelreal: twas a gud performance, what we lacked were gud strikers. good ball possesion, precise passing etc

I watched the Nigeria/Uruguay game. I'm not even a soccer fan, but I was appalled at how poor our passing is. Just very sloppy stuff.

Anyway, regardless of how poorly Nigeria played, I enjoyed watching the team. Hopefully we will have more success in the future.

The Trans-Atlantic slave trade did a lot of damage to people and their sense of self-worth.

In a lot of ways, we in Africa who still have our tribes ethic groups to latch onto (Yoruba, Igbo, etc) are very, very lucky.

Programming / Re: Isnt There Any Ruby Programmer In The House?! by ektbear: 5:11am On Jun 18, 2013
Oh, I program(med) in Ruby for fun.

Professionally, it doesn't really have much of an advantage over Python, unless all you do is website development (Ruby on Rails has a much richer ecosystem than the Python equivalents).

For anything involving math, science, or engineering, I think Python is way better (due to better libraries, a larger scientific ecosystem). Since I am a scientist, Python is a better fit.

Btw the languages have like 95%+ overlap in terms of features, so it isn't like one is way better technically than the other. At the end of the day the difference is in libraries.
Programming / Re: Isnt There Any Ruby Programmer In The House?! by ektbear: 4:02am On Jun 18, 2013
I program in Ruby. But I'm also uninterested in solving your homework problems for you, or doing work for you that you can easily google.
