ROSSIKE:Well, we can discuss solar and wind in depth, if you like. WRONG. The USA generates up to 35,000 mw on wind power. Germany generates at least 26,000 mw on wind.Only 3% of the USs electricity is generated from wind, dude. Where do you suggest getting the other 97% from? Or perhaps you are suggesting that we cut down usage to some fraction of the current amount? Even going to 90% of the current amount would cause a deep economic recession. Such a recession wouldn't just hurt the US. . . it would hurt everyone. Like, a lot. You, me, Nigerians, Africans, everyone. Japan could decide to limit her energy intensive industry and MAKE DO with less dangerous sources of energy. What about the jobs? How do you replace the jobs? How would healthcare work with less jobs? How do you pay for education with less jobs? How do you pay for anything, really? |
Can you imagine a dude from SA taking shots at Nigeria or Nigerians? The same SA that you guys are ruining today and are in danger of destroying? ![]() The same SA that has had flat economic growth for a decade now. . . coincidentally corresponding with them taking over? No wonder there is no unity in Africa. It is like a lazy drunkard's winning the lotto and feeling happy, and then mocking his middle-income cousin. Within a short period of time you'll piss away the lotto money anyways. So what are you feeling so cocky about, asshat? |
ROSSIKE:Lol, don't try that self-hating card with me. It would be more accurate to describe me as an ethnic chauvinist than a self-hater. I'm certainly am not in the habit of hero-worshiping other races or peoples. However, this doesn't mean I'll reject good policies that others have taken just because they are different. It also doesn't mean I won't acknowledge the weaknesses/mistakes of my own people. If aliens from outer space do something good, I'll acknowledge it and learn from it, hopefully use it to benefit my own people. I won't reject it out of hand or kick them when they are down just because they are different. Same for Japanese. |
@ROSSIKE: Solar is too expensive. Wind won't generate enough electricity. Using those two things to power a society doesn't lead to a "self-sufficient, medium income" country. It leads to Togo. It is easy enough to suggest that someone else make decisions that will lead to him being poor. But it is very doubtful that you'd do the same in your own personal life. Hell, if you believe so strongly in the "interest of HUMANITY and the EARTH", I assume that you are a vegetarian, do not drive a car, live in a low-impact Fulani hut in the middle of nowhere? Otherwise you are a hypocrite. |
Thanks for that article, texazzpete. Question: Why did Japan so readily turn to nuclear power when the country experienced the terrible effects of nuclear radiation when it was bombed during World War II?Hard not to admire these great people. Imagine building such a great society with no resources, after getting your @ss kicked in a war and getting two nukes dropped on you. And doing this all in 20 years. A testament to their resilience and great leadership. |
@Rossike: What do you suggest? If no nuclear, then what? Where do you get cheap electricity from? Again, it isn't like Japan is Nigeria, with enormous amounts of coal and NG readily available. No cheap electricity => no manufacturing, no industry => massive loss of jobs => civil unrest. How should they avoid this undesirable outcome? |
@pleep: I'm not claiming it is clearcut, or a simple problem. Technology often has downsides. And as you point out, sometimes the guy using dangerous technology is not the one who pays the price if things go wrong. And how exactly to resolve this is still an open question. But I think most of us can agree that simply banning or avoiding such technologies is not practical. Even if the "100% safe" criterion you mention cannot be achieved. That is all I am saying. |
ROSSIKE:Lol. So absolutely no infrastructure whatsoever should be built on that enormous swath of territory? Any country that is there should have nothing of value? Offer a better solution than that. It would make more sense to call for improved modeling/prediction of natural disasasters, more robust and resilient infrastructure to deal with 'em. Hell, a more innovative insurance scheme to take care of the aftermath of disasters. But if your proposal is to just quit. . . well, that is no solution at all. Honestly, you are just bitching and complaining without offering any sort of solutions. They were dealt a bad hand and did the best they could with it. |
ROSSIKE:And where will they get this NG from? Are you offering to give it to them for free? Or does NG grow on trees?Abeg, let them manage their own affairs and we manage ours. No need to be sticking your nose in another man's business. Truth be told. . . they've done a helluva lot more with less resources and more adversity than we have. So I'm not sure what business we have offering them advice. They are a great and resilient people, and I'm sure will manage to do decently over the next 50-100 years. |
^-- We have power plants and a ton of infrastructure here where I live too. . . I'm sitting on the San Andreas fault. Tehran is built in the middle of some earthquake-prone zone. Most of the Netherlands is below sea level. *shrug* That is just the way of the world. . . most of the best and most desirable real estate on earth has one issue or another associated with it. Do you simply abandon it due to the threat of disaster? You try your best to deal with the risks and then toss the dice. Anyway, you are speaking from hindsight. |
I'm a huge fan of the guy. His TV show (Two and a Half Men) is excellent. This makes up for any flaws he has in his personal life ![]() |
Gimme Kelly. |
December is the best here, imo. |
Gotta toss the dice sometimes to get ahead. Didn't work out and they are now paying the price. But I'd do the same thing were I in their boots. It isn't like their tiny island has tons of natural gas or coal. So how do you power your society cheaply? ![]() They aren't a land like Nigeria blessed with natural abundance and tons of resources. |
I like skinny girls yeah, but don't hate bigger girls. Just a slight preference. Not like I'd never date a bigger chick. Basically don't be fat and I'm happy ![]() |
^-- Interesting. I don't think I really have a fetish. Like, there isn't some type of woman I find more attractive than others. My buddy from college though, he is this Mexican guy with a "whites-only" policy It really cracked me up. And I'd call him out on it, asking him why he doesn't date any hispanics and he'd lie and pretend it was coincidence ![]() |
fstranger3:lol. . . that explains it. I didn't know about this Paterson place. Only God can save me from Muslim Girls!lol. Just be careful that you don't get your Palestinian GF-to-be honor-killed by an angry father ![]() |
fstranger3:Heh, true. Sometimes I wonder if they understand what they are doing to their bodies stuffing themselves silly like that. I have met more hot Arabs than any other group in my life, I have a soft spot for Arabic language, falafelThat is a pretty solid endorsement, lol. Where are you meeting all these Arabs btw? I don't meet too many. |
tpiah!:Naw it is cool, but I just wonder how he got it. I've always thought it is hard to develop fetishes/crushes w/o meeting lots of people from that ethnic group. So just curious when/where he met lots of Arab women. Or maybe he watched Arab tv as a kid, I dunno. |
^-- I wasn't contradicting you. . . was responding to the OP ![]() |
^-- What is up with your Arab fetish? Are Arab women even that hot? I've met a few cute Lebanese girls before, but also some fat and unattractive Egyptians and Moroccans. |
Naw pretty false. You don't need money for love. There are a surprisingly large # of women who don't care much about material things. And of course, (most) dudes don't care about how much money a woman has. For most guys, poor pretty woman >>>> average-looking rich woman |
Nothing wrong with it. |
Cork is so wrong, things he says are f*ed up. . . but also hilarious ![]() |
yaya dacosta. . . *drools* I love exotic-looking women. |
Nigerian mom, white dad, perhaps. Or her mom is one of those black panther types who chose african names? Maybe you should just fbook her if curious. |
her momma is likely white |
This was actually kind of hilarious. . . in a sick sort of way ![]() Nigerians sure love rituals. Anyway, ACN seems to be doing well in the state. . . we shall see if his attempts at creating a bogeyman succeed ![]() |
Is the land there prone to erosion? This is my guess from the "fortify" comment. Still, you'd think that they'd want the river dredged more than others. They'll benefit the most economically from it. And truth be told, imo everyone wins. |
macjive01:Reference for this? Why would he do that Makes zero sense. |
