Talk is cheap. Let them arrest Buhari. . . if they dare.

To be very honest, GEJ will win this election. You, I, Beaf and everyone knows this except we want to deceive ourselves. Now, the SW is divided, approximately 30% for each candidate. No one will win the SW outright.  With that said, I still think GEJ will win the most votes because of the "SOUTHERN" sentiment attached to him. Most of the SWesterners, like GEJ solely because the cabals were against him. If not, he might have zero votes there. Sentiments apart, GEJ is not the man to rule Nigeria. He plays tribal politics. He butt-licks and all. What we need is progress and true federalism and unfortunately GEJ is not the man to bring that. Buhari has already spoken about federalism, GEJ has not! How annoying can that be!
I dunno man. It isn't clearcut to me. He needs to win outright in the first round to win. If I had to handicap this, I'd give him less than a 50% chance of doing this. Perhaps as little as 45%.

Pretty close to a coin flip imo. . . outcome is very uncertain.

From your post, I can deduce that you know nothing about south west politics. Yorubas especially my people the Aworis love igbos very much. If it was even an igbo VP that was presented, people will still vote for Buhari.
In lesser #s, though. No one can deny that Buhari has helped his popularity in the SW of Nigeria more by choosing a Yoruba VP over an Igbo one.

Well said! That is why I respect the Ijaws. You do not see them blaming anybody, instead, they play their game right and look . . . . . ! They have one of theirs as the PRESIDENT of this Geographical expression called Nigeria. If GEJ wins, fair game. If not, fair game. But some people should stop blaming their neighbours for everything. Its a sign of weakness.
Honestly, if GEJ doesn't win this game, he is a dumbass. Everything is stacked in his favor. Jega is a guy he chose. Essentially, GEJ gets to set the rules of the game. What type of fool loses a game he set the rules for?  grin  tongue

Yoruba are fairly divided. . . there is no clearcut frontrunner. So he still has time to make some inroads. But he needs to roll up his sleeves and get to work. Time is passing him by.

A lazy, incompetent man (e.g., ikeman00 and those who think as he does) sits and complains about how fate and destiny have conspired against him, a more vigorous man works hard to accomplish his political goals. Up to GEJ which one he wants to be.

Honestly, you don't have to be impressed. Nobody is trying to please or impress Eboes. Absolutely at the bottom of the priority list, at least for me personally. I don't give a damn whether you like it or not. If anything. . . that you dislike this course of action makes me happier that we seem to be choosing it.

Whatever makes Eboes unhappy makes my heart glad.

They are pre-emptively looking for an excuse if/when GEJ has difficulty at the polls.

The current plan is "Yoruba people are tribalist because they voted for candidates with Yoruba VPs instead of GEJ."

Just in case it wasn't clear  grin

As always, some seek to blame their failure @ life on 3rd parties rather than taking destiny into their own hands.

What interest would there be in Buhari or Ribadu ticket w/o Yoruba VP?

W/o this choice, voters would be fairly divided between GEJ and non-GEJ.

This is the way of the world. . . nobody votes for tickets that don't offer them anything.

Buhari/Igbo VP. . . why would that be more compelling than GEJ/Sambo?

It seems you too have observed the handwriting on the wall, though tongue

Genetic malformation which can NEVER be trusted.
Poor Jonathan.

No common interest with any of the main candidates. Why support any of them blindly? Only a fool would do such.

^-- if you say so. I guess we'll see in a short time who was correct. I'd suggest looking at the #s a bit before making your guess. Some other posters here have done some interesting analysis. Analysis of this sort seems to be what is motivating the decisions of the major players. So likely isn't too far off from reality.
PoliticsRe: N/west, S/west’s Voting Population Worries Jonathan by ekubear1: 10:31am On Mar 12, 2011
^-- If the SW votes overwhelmingly against GEJ, then the PDP then becomes the opposition. ACN and CPC becomes mainstream.

SW is the kingmaker in this election. Why just follow GEJ or PDP without extracting concessions?

Makes zero sense.

CultureRe: Ibo People In American Rap Music Industry by ekubear1: 5:05am On Mar 12, 2011
Yoruba people are just really talented at music. I dunno why. Just our natural adaptivity and ability to connect with everyone, I guess?

You look at Wale specifically. . . since the 70s we've had Gogo music in the DC area, absolutely nobody has had an interest in this music nationally until Wale came on the scene, revolutionized it and made it appealing to mainstream audiences. Pretty phenomenal if you think about it.

You forgot that Taio Cruz dude in the UK too. . . they were rocking his songs this past summer and I had no clue that the dude was yoruba.

It is what it is, doesn't really reflect poorly on Igbo.
