I dunno, there is this trail near where I live where I used to go running sometimes with a friend. Hour long jog through the woods.

I've paused in the middle of the run to take a leak and have seen others do the same. No massive stench. . . the park still smells like pristine wilderness.

Then again there isn't trash littering the whole place. So maybe that affects things.

yea but do u know what the stench of your piss will do to the many people passing by that bush? lipsrsealed
bush won't smell disgusting/unsanitary. . . until you and a few others pee in it.

Man I dunno what ya'll be eating and drinking, but my piss doesn't smell like that. If I pee in the bush somewhere and you walk by, you won't even be able to tell.

Anyway the odds of everyone all choosing the same spot of bush to piss on on a 50 mile stretch of road from say Lagos to wherever is pretty low.

Even if there is toilet nearby and the restroom smells NASTY (e.g., like a cow died in it), I'd rather piss in the bush.

Bush at least won't smell disgusting/unsanitary.

Me, I don't like walking into or using disgusting restrooms.

Urine I imagine is decomposed pretty rapidly. Mother nature probably breaks it apart within 3 days or so.

Feces is a different story. Shitting anyhow like a dog is obviously gross.

But that isn't what we are discussing.

It would even be worse if he were pissing into a stream or body of water. Then you could argue someone downstream will suffer from his actions.

But he is pissing on some bush. For all I know the nitrogen in his piss will make the bush/trees grow faster. Maybe the trees are thanking him for the food he has given them grin

That's why Nigeria smells like shoit hole.

"What is the big deal"? Everything.

Piss doesn't smell like sh1t. If you go piss on a tree or bushes somewhere, no harm done.

It isn't like he is pissing on a car, on the sidewalk, on a building, on someone's door.

It isn't like he is taking a sh1t. Just simple urine. Mostly water.

Nothing wrong with it if there is no restroom nearby.

Anyway he is peeing into the bush, not in the middle of the street or something.

Or those who are condemning this, if you are driving in the middle of nowhere in naija and gotta piss, you'll just hold it until you reach civilization? grin

Islam for Muslims / Muslims Banned From Praying Outdoors In France by ekubear1: 12:28am On Sep 19, 2011
France Bans Public Muslim Prayers

MUSLIMS will be banned from praying outdoors in France from today in the latest move by officials to remove Islam from the public sphere.

The ban, announced by the government yesterday, infuriated French Muslim leaders, one of whom accused President Sarkozy's government of treating them like cattle.

They say that Muslims, who pray outdoors only because of a lack of space in mosques in France, feel stigmatised.

But Claude Gueant, the Interior Minister, said that the sight of hundreds of people gathering in the streets of Paris and other cities for Friday prayers was "shocking".

It comes after laws to prohibit pupils from wearing headscarves in schools and women from wearing the niqab, the full Muslim veil, in public.

Mr Gueant described outlawing street prayers as the latest brick in the wall that is shoring up the secular nature of the French state. He said that he had nothing against Islam, but wanted it out of the public eye.

"Street prayers must stop because they hurt the feelings of many of our compatriots who are shocked by the occupation of the public space for a religious practice," he said.

Police could be asked to arrest Muslims who continue to pray in the street, Mr Gueant warned, but officials will initially try to persuade them to move into a mosque.

Debate has focused on the Goutte d'Or district in northern Paris. Dozens and sometimes hundreds of Muslims pray in the surrounding streets.

Marine Le Pen, the leader of the National Front, was accused of racism when she said that the worship amounted to an "occupation" - a word that for many French is associated with the Nazi invasion during the Second World War.

But the government now appears to be on the same wavelength, with Mr Gueant agreeing that street prayers would "upset" his fellow countrymen.

He said that officials had made available a disused fire station in the Goutte d'Or with room for 2700 people for a rent of €30,000 ($A40,330) a year.

But Muslim leaders said that the site would be open to worshippers only on Fridays.

Mohamed Salah Hamza, imam at a mosque in the Goutte d'Or district, said: "We are not cattle. Our demands have not entirely been satisfied."

He said that he feared worshippers would continue to pray outside.

"I am in an uncomfortable position and I am afraid there will be a climate of anarchy," he said.

"Christian" bank as a statement doesn't make much sense, because the religion is fragmented. Do you understand this point, or not? If he is a Mormon (who believe in a prophet called John Smith, that God gave a new testament to John Smith in the 1800s on golden tablets, that the Native Americans are actually the descendants of Jews who travelled to North America around 600AD or so, and supposedly also believe in some sort of alien sh1t) versus being a Catholic (I actually don't know much about Catholicism actually), then the amount of religious overlap will not be that much.

I don't even want to get into the customs that Jehovah's Witnesses have. You know for example that a Jehovah's Witness will not let a non-JH lead them in prayer?

So what does "Christian" bank even mean? Give us a DEFINITION of Christian bank.

My suspicion is that you think "Pastor" means the same thing as "Imam" or some sort of Muslim religious leader. Being a pastor won't necessarily affect your day job. . . you still have to go to work M-F and do whatever else you do in your career.

Many people don't know that the managing director of wave-making intercontinental Bank, Mr. Erastus Akingbola is a born again Christian and Redeemed Church Pastor. We heard that the top banker cum man of God runs the strong financial institution with all sense of sincerity and fairness to all, no matter your status.

For instance, if a security guard or driver is seriously ill and needs to seek medical attention abroad, intercontinental Bank under his leadership will fly the staff overseas for the treatment and foot the bills. This explains why the bank staffs are so committed and passionate about their job. We were told that the boss adheres strictly to the basic principle of 'Do unto your neighbour as you want them to do unto you'. He is very careful about the way he treats both customers and workers of the bank. Also, he takes the statement made by Jesus Christ that we should not be sinful in our business very serious. He also observes that parables of returns and rewards as stated by Jesus Christ in the Bible.

We gathered that top banker confessed recently that most of the things he reads in the Bible help him to run the bank.

What does that bolded statement mean? From context, it seems to be referring more to his treatment of others at the bank. Not any lending rules. Or are you alleging that he follows some rule from the Bible when he lends money?

Are you going to actually prove/demonstrate this? Or will it just be innuendo?
Business / Re: CAN Plans Christian Banking After Swedish Model by ekubear1: 6:06am On Aug 26, 2011
Demonstrate that he only hired Christians, lent money according to Christian principles, etc before you call it a Christian bank.

Anyway, Christianity is a fairly fragmented religion. Saying "Christian" bank wouldn't even mean much. Are you saying that as a Catholic he was biased in favor of Catholics? Or only hired other Jehovah's Witnesses?

Wtf does Christian bank even mean, when Christianity is fairly fragmented itself?

If the president of a bank is Christian, I guess it is a Christian bank. If he then changes from Protestant church to Catholic church, is it now a Catholic bank?

If he becomes an atheist, I suppose it is an atheist bank now? grin grin grin

How the fvck does him being a pastor on the side make the bank a CHRISTIAN BANK?

The family friend of mine who has his own firm but is a pastor at his own church, is his firm Christian?

If the CEO of Microsoft is Christian, does that make the COMPANY Christian too?

Is he only lending money to Christians? Does he govern the bank by Christian banking principles?

What sort of brainless reasoning is this?

Tuesday, 23 August 2011
A chieftain of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Lagos State and a ranking member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Ipoola Ahmed Omisore, has described Akwa Ibom State governor, Godswill Akpabio, as one of the very few governors who are genuinely committed to the development of his state, through prudent management of the state resources since 2007.

Honourable Omisore, who was a former president of the Outdoor Advertising Agency of Nigeria, stated this while presenting an award of the Most Outstanding Governor 2011 at the Brand as King Award Nite organised by Billboard World Magazine published by Executive Options Media in Lagos, on Sunday.

The lawmaker said “Let me publicly commend the governor of Akwa Ibom State for his uncommon transformation of the state in the last four years. I had thought performance in government started and ended in Lagos until I visited Akwa Ibom State last year. I then came to the conclusion, because of what I saw, that the governor is one of the very few with passion, commitment and determination for the judicious use of state resources for the good of all.”

He stated further that “If Lagos State is number one in terms of infrastructural development, Akwa Ibom is number 1A.”

Reacting on behalf of the other awardees, Governor Akpabio, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Godwin Afanghide, accepted the award and described it as that which would spur him and his team to do more in the remaining period of his administration.

He said ”I accept this award and I promise not to rest on my oars until we take Akwa Ibom State to the level of a destination and the pride of Nigeria.

“I thank the organisers for this recognition and that is why when we people say nothing is happening in the state I simply say come and see.”

He disclosed further that “Our target in the next few years is to surpass whatever has been achieved in Lagos. With our deep seaport coming on stream, the IPP and the international airport now fully operational coupled with massive road networks, the nation’s economic hub would soon relocate to Akwa Ibom, because it is the next destination to the world.”

There can only be ONE distribution company in an area.

It isn't economical to have 20 different discos in a location.

If the disco that serves your city decides to gouge you, you have no other option. It isn't like there will be another company that is going to lay wire to your house. . . not like buying rice or food where you can go to a different seller if you don't like the price guy A is offering.

This is why the financial health of whoever buys the distribution company serving your city/state/zone is sooo important. If he overpays for the disco, guess who the disco owner will decide to gouge to make up his money?

Free competition can only happy on the power generation side. Transmission is a monopoly (will be retained by the FG), and so is distribution.

That is the point Jenifa and everybody else is making about "natural monopoly."

Lagos To Establish 3 More Asphalt Plants Across State

on AUGUST 26, 2011 · in BUSINESS

The Lagos State Government is planning to establish three additional asphalt plants in Badagry, Ikorodu/Epe axis and the Lagos Mainland.

Mr Samuel Ayetutu, Head, Public Relations Department, Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC), who disclosed this, said that the three new plants would increase the production of asphalt for road maintenance. He said that the new plants would complement the existing asphalt plant in the state that currently produced about 300 tonnes of asphalt per hour.

“We have an asphalt plant which was established about 15 years ago and it produces about 300 tonnes of asphalt per hour. We are planning to establish additional asphalt plants in the state as part of our five-year road map in Ikorodu-Epe axis, Badagry and Lagos Mainland.

We produce our asphalt by ourselves and that is why we have been able to embark on the rehabilitation and repair of more roads in the state with less stress,” Ayetutu said.

He assured residents of the state that the corporation would continue to repair all distressed roads, adding that it had kept its promise to rehabilitate bad roads on weekends and during public holidays.

“Our staff spent about seven hours last weekend working on the bad portions of the Ikorodu Road at Fadeyi up to the base of the bridge which connects Ojuelegba area. I can assure you that during the forthcoming Sallah holidays also, if it does not rain, we are going to work. That is how we have been working in the last two years. Since the rains subsided, we have been working in a minimum of 10 locations on daily basis on both federal and state roads without any discrimination,” he said.

Bank headed by pastor = religious?

Is he lending money according to some religious principle or profit-making principle?

Let us not trivialize the matter by comparing a bank run by a CEO who happens to be a pastor with sharia banking.

Or if it turns out that Warren Buffett is a pastor at his church, does that mean Berkshire Hathaway is a Christian financial institution too?  undecided

People seem to be talking past each other here a bit.

Basically, the point I, blink182 and others have made is pretty simple. If someone is offering you BUY a monopoly over you and it seems like the price is too good to be true, then they'll likely extract their money back from you buy abusing their monopoly powers. If they have to gouge you on electricity price in order to pay back the loan they used to buy PHCN or to satisfy their investors, what recourse will you have? It isn't as if you can change electricity suppliers the same way you change your source of rice or bread, right?

This is why I think it is important to understand if the PHCN assets are really worth anything close to $100 billion right now.
Business / Re: CAN Plans Christian Banking After Swedish Model by ekubear1: 2:56am On Aug 26, 2011
I agree with him.

Any federal government funds spent on Islamic banking (rather than a secular, non-interest banking) should be matched by funds on Christian banking.

Personally I think the idea of religious banking is dumb. But if they want to spend billions promoting one religion, then they'd better spend the exact same amount promoting another.

Thank you for this insight. I assume you know PHCN more than the Brazilians and definitely more the Barth Nnaji. If I may ask, how much do you think PHCN is worth?

Previous post gobbled by the spam filter.

In a nutshell, I think we can estimate the value of the power plants pretty weill by comparing with existing power projects elsewhere, right? Doing so, I don't think the PHCN power plants are worth more than $10 or 20 billion. Who knows, maybe the discos are with $80 billion collectively. Sounds like a high price to me. I'm skeptical.
