Intelligent yes, but appears to have been severally outmaneuvered by the enemies of his people. I'm a big fan, but less so that I was before. |

T9ksy: Nice idea but somehow i know the igbos won't buy it. They are fu.ccking landlocked and as such been lusting after lagos as far back as the 40's. Somehow, i just don't trust them. they are always up to something detrimental to whoever dare interact with them. I believe D) is the best option. Ain't got nothing to do with them, really. They are irrelevant as far as this goes, assuming state police happens. At that point, we control our own destiny. As I said, the key is to be able to project force. That is all that is respected in the 3rd world. |

T9ksy: @ Eku_bear,
Forget nigeria jo! I really don't want to share the same passport with these modafockers! Let everyone go their seperate ways, ojare.
Ojo to ro lo da edie po mo agutan! Now the brits are gone, wth are we still sharing the same country with these perfidious people. Well, practically speaking secession isn't feasible w/o some sort of militia or army. Or if you get it, then it will be on unfavorable terms where you assume enormous amounts of debt, have choice bits of land taken away, etc. Imo, the best roadmap is: A) Federalism B) State Police C) Militia D) Independence or whatever else one likes. |

T9ksy: These are the same guys that are hinting at an igbo governor in Lagos! Just like their father, slimy zik tried to become premier of western region in '53. Yet these guys have nothing but pure, undiluted hatred for us but still want to covert our land. You will never hear them utter the same nonsense at the northerners and in the north. Probably 'cause they know too well from experience that the northerners will not think twice before butchering them like the . . . . . . . . My fervent hope is that Nigerian states can have state police. If/when that becomes a reality, pretty easy from there. See how far the Ijaws have progressed politically in a short period of time simply by heavily arming their own militia. At the end of the day, all that matters in Nigeria and the 3rd world more generally is the ability to project force. |

I don't even understand where coup + murder became necessary.
Why not just arrest the politicians, give them trials (even kangaroo ones) and take it from there?
You give yourself some legal cover by doing this, rather than having blood on your hands and unnecessarily making martyrs out of anyone.
Just very brutish and foolish, what they did. Terrible precedent as well. |

Katsumoto: Your analysis is flawed on so many levels 1. It is not a secret that of the three main regions, the west was the most under-represented region in the officer corp. This was even worse with NCOs. 2. Whilst Yoruba officers in the Army did not engage in any bloodletting (primarily because the Yoruba had seen war and conflict over a longer period than any other group in Nigeria and prefer diplomacy first), the same cannot be said for the Yoruba populace who went on the streets and got killed by the police action instituted by Balewa and his friends in power between 1962 and 1964 (I believe Igbo sons were in that cabinet). You can google Agbekoya 3. To suggest that the January coup plotters acted on behalf of the West is naive at best and disingenuous at worst. 4. The Yoruba did not ask the Jan plotters to take over and they certainly did not ask for them to murder anyone. Whilst it can be argued that Akintola was not loved in the West, you are suggesting that the Yoruba were not embittered to learn of the murder of Brigadier Ademulegun and his wife, Col Sodeinde and the attempted murder of his pregnant wife, as well as the savage manner Nzeogwu murdered Sgt Oyegoke. Do you think these people did not have families? Did their families not have friends and neighbours? 5. Zik, Okpara, and other Igbo members of the cabinet were part of the conspiracy to jail Awolowo and impose a state of emergency on the West leading to lose of many Yoruba lives. You must think Yoruba people have short memories 6. Nigeria was essentially a marriage between North and East. Did Zik not break the pact with Awo that each region would go its own way in 1957 preferring to wait for the North to be ready for independence. Also did Zik not ignore Awo's offer to be PM preferring to be a ceremonial president under Bello's protege, Balewa. Such a terrible miscalculation on our part not joining the army in large #s. If we had, Nigeria would be vastly different (and better) today. When you inhabit a country with two-faced, conniving b@stards, you need to be prepared. I certainly hope we are better prepared now than we were then. |

In 100% agreement, prenup is the way to go. If the marriage falls apart, let both sides take only what they put in. |

Igboman slaughters politicians => fair game Igboman invades another's territory => fair game Igboman wants to use humanitarian planes for weapons => 3rd party is starving him
Etc, etc, etc. Whining, complaining, bitching. This is why nobody on the face of the earth likes Igbos. Perhaps it is best if Cryafra Biafra actually comes to life. |

Nobody is celebrating the death of children. I am not. But war is a brutal thing, and best avoided if possible. Would be nice if everyone realized this.
In any case, don't try this silly Christian/heathen game. . . religion has nothing to do with this and imo should be kept separate from politics and warfare.
And frankly speaking. . . isn't clear to me that you trying this sort of game would be anything but hypocrisy. Holier-than-thou won't work for you, given your vile antecedents. |

Na wa o. So when in doubt, paint your enemy as a sinner or heathen.
We get it, Yoruba = heathens cursed by God, Igbo = Christians blessed by God.
Simple hypotheses for complicated phenomena generally lead to shoddy conclusions. |

dayokanu: Imagine at 28yrs when most 28yrs on here are fooling around.
Whenever I am in Ogbomoso I would like to meet the black Scorpion who was described as the most important man in the Nigerian war.
Who born dem, Who dem be? At the mention of Adekunles name, Biafra dispersed, their soldiers peed in their pants the leader bailed out to Abidjan,
Adekunle, The terror to Biafra. I'm told he lives in the DC area now. No longer in Nigeria. |

Major Adekunle, 28-years old, General of the Nigerian troops on the South front sat enthroned behind the General’s desk of the Shell administration, which he had made into his main station when he took the Ibo-city by storm on May 18. Now he stated: "I am convinced you will report objectively and keep to our orders." We confirmed that. At the age of 28, conquering enormous amounts of territory! This Adekunle guy is a throwback to the 1800s, 1700s, when all we knew was warfare. I admire him greatly. |
