coogar:I still get one leg with Moyes. I just want him to do well for himself. It's good he is getting better week after week and he picked a precious away win on Monday night with a good football game to cap as reported. |
A team like Man City will suffer because of the average age of their players. And Yaya Toure is tired from playing in the Africa January heat. Arsenal can afford to rotate their team and still have a good shape. I can't say same for Liverpool, Tottenham and Southampton. Even Chelsea sef. |
adebayo201:I think many teams are already tired because they have been using the same players ever since which gave them a good shape. But now it's telling on their bodies. Meanwhile, some of our guys are very fresh. Mata, carrick and Herrera should be able to give us a good run in. |
royale442:Let Mata start. Di Maria as super sub if the plan doesn't work out. We saw how Swansea almost killed Liverpool with possessive football in the first half of their Monday night fixture. If they had quality like United they would have ended that match in the first half. |
Gaal is beginning to sound like someone who is under pressure. He's now trying to sound like someone who listen and is flexible. |
Key quotes from Louis van Gaal's Friday Press Conference: On Carrick's new contract: "He's important because he can read the game as a player on the pitch, so he can coach during the game, but he can improve. Carrick is a MF who can play the ball forwards + I like that. Our aim is always passing the ball forward, not sideways or backwards. Rooney is my first captain, Carrick is my second. That says enough of how much I value these players." On Injuries: Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw are not fit enough to start for United at Anfield but may be on the bench. Robin van Persie has started doing some running as his recovery work continues. On Liverpool: "Every day Mike the cook has been telling the players and me how important the Liverpool game is! I like that as it shows that it is a very particular match, especially for the fans of Manchester United. It also helps us to concentrate on this match. I want to win against them again. It's very important. I think every player knows the importance of this game. We are in a very crucial stage and cannot lose. I was happy with the performance v Spurs and if we can show the same vs Liverpool, then I think we have moved forward." On Ryan Giggs: "I have Ryan Giggs to tell importance of that (Liverpool) to the players and me in his presentation. I like that because it shows it is a very particular match for the fans, it helps to focus on concentrate." On A Winter Break/No English Teams Left In Europe: I have to go back to the Christmas fixtures, the world is changing, it isn't the same as 20 years ago, 20 years ago the Premier League was created and now the other countries are developing but they have always a winter break,we play 4 games in 2 weeks. Bayern Munich are much fresher than players of Arsenal and Chelsea. Players need rest." |
I have said I noticed players go hard Falcao, Di Maria and even Rooney. They tackle them so hard that they have to let go some 50-50 balls. Only one referee has done a good job protecting Di Maria and Falcao. Hopefully next season these guys will adjust. |
Odunharry:That's the only one I have. I will post when I get a link you can download. |
Paul Ince has rejected the idea that Ryan Giggs will be the man to replace Louis van Gaal as Old Trafford boss, claiming that the Welshman isn’t anywhere near experienced enough. Giggs himself has in the past been said to want to become manager. Yet Ince has moved to quash that theory as he believes there’s a far more viable candidate who also coincidentally happens to be an ex-student of Sir Alex Ferguson. "To be Man United manager you need broad shoulders and take a lot of criticism. Roy (Keane) has broad shoulders and he is mentally tough. Things don’t affect him, "He has a poker face, doesn’t show if things are affecting him, and there is no reason why Roy couldn’t go back to Manchester United as manager. When asked about Giggs' prospects though, Ince was less confident. "No chance, you’ve got to go to a club that you can learn from and get experience. He’s not ready for Man United." Louis van Gaal has revealed his highly detailed preparation methods ahead of his side's trip to Liverpool on Sunday. Van Gaal told The Daily Telegraph: "The preparation starts with the scout, Paul Brand, who is analysing the opponent, who selects all the images with Marcel Bout, the opposition scout. "Marcel Bout goes to watch the opposition two weeks in front of the game, because then we are playing the same circumstances, at home or away. "Then Ryan Giggs is making a presentation for the players out of the images that Marcel Bout and Paul Brand have selected. "Then we make a game-plan because of the analysis. Then we discuss the game-plan. The next day we have to present it to the players. Giggs is doing that. So, another meeting with the players. "Then we go and train the game-plan 11 against 11. Ryan Giggs is coaching the opponent. He has analysed them. "Albert Stuivenberg has to coach my team. Then we practise different patterns. We film the training session. "The next meeting is the 'unit meeting': we do defenders, midfielders and forwards. "Albert has selected the images of the training but also former matches that explains more of our game-plan." [Source: Telegraph] ............... Radamel Falcao is unhappy at Manchester United and felt “weird” when he appeared for the club’s U21s, according to his friend and former agent. Silvano Espindola, Falcao’s close friend and former representative, says the forward has shed tears over his current predicament at Old Trafford. “We speak a lot. I am not going to tell you that he feels happy because he isn’t, “We speak many times, and we cry together. It is not an easy situation because every player wants to play and every goalscorer wants to score goals, that is normal. “While on his way to the ground to play that match with the youth team he called me, we talked for about 20 minutes while he arrived at the stadium and he told me 'something like this had never happened to me, I don’t know how to handle the situation. I feel weird!’ “He was a little fearful because he is afraid of those matches with the youth teams and of the second and third divisions. In those categories they are used to whacking and going in hard. That was how they injured him in France, with a team from the fourth division.” [Source: Skysports, AS Columbia] ........................... Louis van Gaal believes that Manchester United are the biggest club in world football ahead of Real Madrid. Van Gaal claimed that on a global level, United are by far the biggest club on the planet. "We were in the USA and we played against Real Madrid, Liverpool, Roma, Inter Milan and LA Galaxy, five matches in three weeks. "300,000 fans and I think 280,000 of them in a red shirt. I know that Manchester United is the biggest club of the world. "Bigger than Real Madrid? Yes. In terms of global appeal, not history. "I made a trip with my wife through the world when I had a sabbatical year and I was in China and Hong Kong and such football madness in those countries! "They recognise me everywhere. Unbelievable. And they know Manchester United much more than the manager." [Source: Express, Telegraph] |
codedguy1:Take am easy. Not Gaal's fault. Remember we can play a lone striker now only because RVP is injured. No coach would have Rooney, Falcao and RVP and bench two of them, except when situation has pushed him to the wall. Even on this thread, we questioned why Falcao was been given substitution roles early in the season. Later we wondered why he was allowed to play just 60 minutes whenever he was started. Even if he knew 4-3-3 was the best for the team, he wouldn't have been able to play it based on the players he had to select. |

raumdeuter:Lies upon lies. Neymar was the hero and I promoted Neymar day after day during the Confab. I only brought Paulinho on board just before season resumed, after we lost chase for Fabregas. |
coogar:lol |
Louis van Gaal has insisted that Manchester United is his last managerial role and he is determined to help them qualify for next season’s Champions League. However, Van Gaal admitted that he has already promised his wife that they will retire to the Algarve in the near future. “This is my last job. For sure, I have to pay attention to my kids, my grandchildren but also to my wife. They deserve it. Now I cannot pay that attention. I was not at the birthday of my grandson for example. I don’t like it.” But while there has been criticism of the Dutchman’s first season in the Premier League, Van Gaal believes the club is now beginning to see the fruits of his labour. “When I drive my car for the first time in England it is the same, I have to think about the left and the right, that we have seen against Spurs you have seen that. That shows they can do things together as a team. That takes time. At Bayern it took until December. And now until March with United." [Source: Guardian] |
Louis van Gaal has revealed that his favoured formation with Manchester United is the 4-3-3. And talking exclusively to the Telegraph, Van Gaal explained that having just one striker up front allows the team to switch between attack and defence with more efficiency. He explained: “I am the most flexible manager you can imagine. When the players are coming with good arguments, I change my opinion. "They need to have very good arguments. It is not so easy to convince me - that’s true. But when you convince me I change my opinion. “Most of the players here think the manager is deciding that change. I ask also the players which system they want to play. And then I ask individual players: ‘What’s your favourite position?’ First they don’t want to answer but now they are more open, and they answer. "4-4-2? No. The fans are shouting it. I have played it but that was to do with accidental circumstances. “The system we play now is the system that I prefer, that I have played everywhere. Against Spurs is my preferred system. When it is needed, then I play with five at the back. "Spurs was 4-3-3 when we had the ball. For example, Mata more inside and Young outside. When we defend it was more 4-1-4-1. Next game is different.” [Source: Telegraph |
Just watchout when Man United returns next season, hopefully. |
Ashley Young says Manchester United will go for the kill when they head to Liverpool on Sunday. After beating Tottenham last weekend, United have a chance to further strengthen their grip on fourth when they face their old rivals at Anfield. "We will go there looking for the three points, we are going there to win, you don't go to a place to try and draw. The performance against Tottenham was brilliant but we have a tough game coming up at Liverpool. We have got to dust ourselves down in the right way and go for the three points again.' "Morale has always been high. Confidence has always been there too. We were obviously disappointed after the Arsenal game. I said afterwards that it will show how our team spirit and character is with how we bounce back. "I think if you look at the first 45 minutes against Spurs then that was exactly the right way to bounce back." [Source: Daily Mail |
SailorXY:If SAF could use Anderson, Hernadez to achieve so much, just imagine what he could have used players like Modric, Mascherano, Aguero to achieve. Ferguson made players to grow bigger than their (youthful) potentials. Chelsea and Man City bought dozens and dozens of players because they needed to do a big catch up with the big clubs. But United only needed two or three world class coming every two years to conquer Europe under SAF. |
coogar:You guys forgot how the Paulinho stuff came about. It wasn't I went out there boasting he was world class like I did with Nermar, Bale and Aguero. I suggested Paulinho only after we lost the bid for Fabregas. That was a last resort suggestion just as some suggested Fellaini. |
raumdeuter:Better than Thiago. I did not even rate Paulinho as high as Neymar and Aguero. Paulinho was only one of my options after we missed Fabregas. However, you gat to have some cases of misses. Barca bought Ibrhimovic and sold him. Chelsea sold Schevcheko. You cant get it 100%, there has to be some element of risk. |
Dadehmola:Better than Thiago. I did not even rate Paulinho as high as Neymar and Aguero. Paulinho was only one of my options. However, you gat to have some cases of misses. Barca bought Ibrhimovic and sold him. Chelsea so Schevcheko. You canT get it 100%, there has to be some element of risk. |
SIRcumalot:So how much was to cover that chopper? If we had brought one ballon'dor winner, the rest big stars would have added Man United to the list of their possible destination. Zidane and Ronaldo Lima were ready to play anywhere. Abeg let's just leave all these things. Let's compete for the best going forward. But again, a world economy recession looms. Hope it doesn't catch our stocks in the NYSE? |
SailorXY:It didn't take long for the likes of Neymar, Modric, Bale to emerge. We were spectators in these high profile transfers. When Tevez left, Aguero was doing very well in Athletico. I have been his fan since his U-20 days when he won the best player. |
SIRcumalot:How come we couldn't get any of the very best in the world at the time? Romario,Stoichkov (is that the spelling?), Hagi, Bebeto, Lizarazu, Zidane, Ronaldo Lima, Ronaldinho, Figo, Roberto Carlos, etc. The destination for the best of players have never been Manchester United. We always lost out in race to signing big players if at all we ever indicated interest. |
I pity the kidnappers because they will be caught. It's a pity they have just brought mammoth problems to themselves. |
Lest I forget, Hart was magnificent yesterday. If not for his excellent goalkeeping it should have been 6 goals for Barca. |
SIRcumalot:If SAF spent money he would have won 5 UCL titles. Can't you see that? |
coogar:I never for once doubted Neymar. The very first time I saw him play their local league and friendly matches for Brazil, I knew he would be great. His play was so direct, with dribbling and pace, then he was scoring with ease. He could go through the middle and the wing unlike the other guys who were only dancing in the wings and appeared to score by luck. |
Angel Di Maria is determined to be a success at Manchester United and has started lifting weights in a bid to improve his resolve. The winger has struggled with some of the physical aspects of the English game since his record switch from Real Madrid last summer. But the 27-year-old has now embarked on a special gym programme which he hopes will increase his strength without losing any of his mobility and speed. Di Maria, who is nicknamed 'noodle' in Argentina because of his skinny frame, is working in close consultation with United's team of fitness specialists to pump iron twice a week at the club's Carrington training complex. United implemented similar arrangements for goalkeeper David de Gea and most recently Adnan Januzaj. James Wilson has also been told to hit the gym. [Source: Daily Mail] |
coogar:Coolie-guy, my point is, even if SAF had bid 50m for Neymar, he would have been seen to be insane by our fans. |
coded01:When Man United is not there, or fail to qualify from group stage, the rest EPL teams are not inspired. United has to return to UCL next season. |
