and that's exactly why we are questioning the integrity of that award. feb 1985 to april 2008 is 23 years. you are not a young player after 23 years. for fücks sake - are you not embarrassed that a player @ 23 that was 2nd in ballon d'or in 2007 was a nominee of a young player award in a domestic league of england?
You are not more football knowledgeable than English FA.

I am sure he lost to Fabregas because because you cannot win both categories, same with Bale to Wilshere.

And what Ability might that be? We are not talking about a Messi/pirlo like ability here just so you know. Nah He was still scrapping it out with Benoit for that spot till the change in role occured grin
The ability that made him took the ball in his half and ran past his marker(s) to score a vital goal in a final match against Barca. The one that made him the most expensive footballer.

ronaldo was already 23 in 2008! he had won it before. he shouldn't even have been nominated at 23 in a young player award category.

bale was 21 in 2010, he had never won the award before then and yet jack wilshere was considered better than bale. that just sums up the award as the fakest on the planet.
Guy, Ronaldo was nominated. If he were above the age, he wouldn't be nominated.

You are talking to educated people.

Ronaldo
Torres
Fabregas

You allowed yourself to be brainwashed with acid.

Ronaldo won the PFA player 2008 and lost to the Young player to Fabregas.

what has europe gotta do with PFA? PFA award is strictly for premier league games, european games are excluded. suarez didn't play a single game in europe last season when he won it.

get some perspective.....

The Professional Footballers' Association Players' Player of the Year (often called the PFA Players' Player of the Year, the Players' Player of the Year, or simply the Player of the Year) is an annual award given to the player who is adjudged to have been the best of the year in English football

bale does not dribble like maradona. playing the ball 12 yards ahead and running hard to get it isn't dribbling. dribbling is what messi does - close control, manoeuvring, twisting and turning, weaving around players, etc. any idíot with pace can do what bale does.....
Suarez was too obvious. He didnt need to back his performance in the EPL with anything else.

No it doesn't. If it did, Suarez would not have ran away with the award that season. Elamps stop letting the INTER game cloud your judgement Bikonu
Tell me which player will watch an EPL shine like Ronaldinho in the UCL and not be pleased to give him his vote even though average locally? No one will start separating the two when voting 'cos they matches ran concurrently with everyone watching.

Which award did Suarez run away with? PFA player of the year?

Players have different abilities. Just because Bastian's conversion from a right sided midfielder to a central midfielder worked like a dream does not mean doing the same to other right sided midfielders will produce the same outcome too. Btw wasn't the real reason behind Bale's change in position because He was finding hard to displace Assou Ekotto from the LB spot? grin grin
Bale has a unique ability that even renowned attacking midfielders, wingers and forwards didnt have. Ivanovic, Banes and co can never have. Bale can dribble, take on, out pace, and shoot accurately. He got promoted and that gave Assou Ekotto another chance to take the left back.

chic2pimp:
There is no need to look at figures. I know for a FACT he was very inconsistent that season.
Your subjective opinion can never equal the opinion of professional footballers who played against Bale for 9 months.

AS FOR GIGGS. Correct judgement too. He tore into opponents with ease. I watched some of the matches recently, he was the inspiration that got us through difficult moments. When everyone else appeared dull, he ran rings round opponents and opened them all up.

Drogba was anonymous until he needed to score. Ramires, Lampard, Ivanovic, Cech were outstanding for Chelsea.

Also what's with the Maradona comparison? When did you ever see play "Kick and Run" football?
Europe join. The voters are also looking at the premier league players performance in UCL matches. It has a big influence to play during voting. No voter will seat down and say 'let me remove his excellent Europe performance from his league performance'. A season long general opinion is formed from games played in EPL, UCL, Carling cup, FA cup.

Performance in UCL influence on the voter is as strong as the performance in the EPL, if not stronger.

Destroying teams doesnt mean goals and assist only, some could have taken away 4 players before setting up a 'second assist'.

I am done. If for instance Hazard is named EPL player of the season, you guys are free to argue he doesn't have the numbers. You can organize your own award and give it to Harry Kane.

If it were to be about numbers, Hazard wouldn't make FIFA best 23.

UCL 2010/2011

Bale 736 mins, 4 goals, 2 Assists
Nani 760 MINS 1 goal, 0 Assist.

Bale played for a small team and he helped Tottenham to qualify from their group by toping a group that has Inter Milan. Tottenham were eliminated in the quarter finals by Real Madrid.

Bale did not just lead them, he led with style like a Maradona. Taking the ball from the deep, dribbling past players to score or give Assists. He did same in the EPL. Now why should his EPL colleague disfavour such an ambassador in votings? Nothing like sentiments.

I AM DONE WITH THIS.

Neymar is now 5th on Brazil all time top scorers.

................................

Ademir (1945-1953) scored 32 times for his country, but had a spectacular strike-rate, needing just 39 games to reach that mark

Ronaldinho (1999-2013) managed 33 goals in the 98 appearances for the Seleção

Rivaldo (1993-2003) with his wand of a left foot hit the net 35 times in 74 outings for Brazil

Bebeto (1985-1998) scored at a rate of better than one-in-two as he struck 39 goals in 75 matches

Rivellino (1962-1981) during his long and distinguished career for Brazil managed 43 goals

Jairzinho (1964-1982) was another to score 43 times for his country, his goals coming in 81 games

neymar marca
Neymar (2010-present) joined the duo on 43 goals with his strike against France on Thursday and there are surely many more to come

Zico (1976-1986) has a tremendous record for a midfielder, scoring 48 goals in 71 matches

Romario (1987-2005) is third on the all-time list with 55 strikes in 70 appearances

Ronaldo (1994-2011) was lethal in the yellow of Brazil and found the net 62 times in 98 matches

Pelé (1957-1971) remains top of pile with 77 goals for the Seleção but Neymar looks to have every chance of eclipsing the King.

Gareth Bale's Real Madrid future has been called into question and Paul Scholes wants Manchester United to make a move for the forward.
Paul Scholes views Gareth Bale as a "natural fit" for Manchester United and thinks the forward could become an Old Trafford "great" if he makes the move from Real Madrid.
"My feeling is that he would be perfect for Manchester United, of course, as a fan of my former club I would like to see him there but, looking at it objectively, I always felt that Bale was a natural fit for United as he developed at Tottenham from a left-back into one of the best attacking footballers in the country.
"He would be loved at Old Trafford. In return I believe he could turn Louis van Gaal's team into serious title contenders next season. In my years at United I witnessed some signings who, over their careers, transformed the fortunes of the team.
"From Eric Cantona when I was an apprentice, to Dwight Yorke, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Wayne Rooney. These were great footballers who became great United players. Bale has the potential to make as much of an impact as any of them.
[Source: Independent]

The bold part is the reason I always said Bale deserved the PFA player of the season 2010/2011. He killed oppositions from the left back, even in the UCL. I was astonished by what he was doing from defence.

Too much politics in Spanish football. Why is Cassillas still their number one??
You haven't heard it all. Read below:

Spanish manager Vicente del Bosque has lamented the situation of Victor Valdes at Manchester United while hoping the goalkeeper will have more minutes in the future in order to be able to return to the national team squad.
Asked during an interview with Radio Station Cadena Cope about whether he is still monitoring Valdes ahead of calling him up in the future, Del Bosque said: "Yes. I know that he is training. I try to look whether he is in the United's bench and I can see that he is currently a substitute.
"I wish him to play because he has always had a sensational behaviour with Spain. I would like him to enjoy his job rather than being on the bench because at his age it is important to be active."

Personally, I don't care about the hype.
Manchester United should look at Cristiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale, that's the level required wink
I like his game. He drives the ball past defenders. However, we should watch him next season, but should he perform his price will go above 50m.

Sturridge is not dead yet. He just came from injury. Bent didn't have much football skills. Welbeck has never been a great scorer, he is relevant for other things he brings to the table.
