Leyqute:Let the new players win their places. Look at Perreira, we sold Fellaini to give himplaying time but no one notices nhim when he comes into matches. Fellaini must announce his presence in a match. If giving way means old players leaving and average young players coming just because they are young, no no no. |
Leyqute:How can you point only three players to Ole winning streak? Herreira, Matic also helped form a good three man midfield. Young, Shaw, Smalling and Linderlof were there. |
Leyqute:You do the calculation of average starting 11 of United. We are not other clubs, we work with players we have. When Inter Won in 2010, there were many young teams. |
Age of Inter Milan players when they won the UCL 2010. Zanetti 37 years Lucio 32 years Walter Samuel 32 years Maicon 29 years Christian Chivu 30 years Esteban Cambiasso 30 years Wesley Sneijder 26 years Diego Milito 31 years Goran Pandev 27 years Samuel Eto 29 years Julio Cesar 31 years I am even saying we should keep experience as squad players. |
Leyqute:They played far less games than previous seasons. They were still very key to our winning runs when Ole newly took over. You and I know no coach will sell these players, particular Matic and Smalling. Personal emotions or sentiments don't dictate to professional football team coaches. |
MRTA7:There is a difference between starting line up and total squad. I am talking of keeping a big squad with experienced players. |
Leyqute:How many player start a football match? We are talking about average age of starting 11. Moreover, what was the average of Inter Milan that won the UCL in 2010? Chelsea 2012? |
Leyqute:You can see now that you didn't understand my initial point? |
Leyqute:Let there be an upgrade and proper backup on the 'deadwood' players first. It is more risky to scatter and start from no foundation. The coaches might also not want to risk that. I can't bear being in mid table next season because new players are adapting like Di Maria and Falcao. 2017/2018, when we finished 2nd many people felt those old players caused us more points. This season, their appearances were limited and we finished far worse. |
Leyqute:The average age of our stating eleven is low. |
Leyqute:We stand nothing to lose on the field of play keeping the players we have now and still bringing in those we have to bring. But we have so much to lose if the players we bring in have no back ups and some are flops. |
MRTA7:Are you ready to wait for another 3,4,5,6 years hoping to build a team that can even withstand Arsenal? My thinking is that we should keep what we have and improve on it. If you have Messi playing number 10, then Lingard, become squad players in case Messi is injured. Not having to call on one Chonogong from under 18. Lol |
Leyqute:Who are those players? Same players who helped us finished 2nd with 81 points a year ago ago? Last year, Matic, Valencia, Smalling, Young and Lukaku were the most regular players and we finished second. Even Ajax still has a 35 years old. |
larride:How did you reason here? What is my business with Young or Old? |
I actually believed if we had used Fellaini instead of Perreira and sometimes Valencia in place of Dalot, we would have finished top four and go far in the FA cup. There should be gradual transformation except when we get an exceptional talent for a position. |
ChristineC:The wage bill is a burden we should carry one more season. Those who just signed one year extension, I believe their wages dropped. We need a stable platform to build on. |
Having a squad of many experienced players also create competition. When you know the squad is lean and your rival player for the position is injured, you tend to relax. But when three strong players are fighting for one spot, everyone tries to be at their best. No one tells you to cover 12km every game and also do some meaningful sprinting. Every time I see our players escorting opponents in the midfield. I wonder if that is the tactics. We need to keep buying players who can beat a man in the attacking zone. If you have three fast dribblers like that in attack and midfielders with good ball control, why we will not contest for the title. |
After watching the depth of Man City squad and looking at how injury affects us season after season, I want to suggest we should not sell players. If you select our worst 11 from the current squad, they cannot lose 6-0 to Man City. The worst will be 2-0 or 3-1. The club should retain all players and add to them. When injury crisis hit, we should have players who can hold their own against the best as back ups. What we have had since SAF left is falling back to reserve players or inexperienced players when injury hit and the result has always been disaster. After we have stabilize, those who will want to leave for lack of much game time can go, and those who we want to sell can be sold. |
JayKayMaybachz:The tactics was nothing different from what we play now. The ingenuity of the forward players helped us to score three goals. Nani, Berbatov and I think Scholes who provided the Assists the match. I am tempted to say Ferguson used to do juju because Wolfsburg were far better and missed clear cut chances. We just parked the bus and relied on the dribbling of Nani and co to kill on the counter. |
GloryIsaac:I hate transfer windows partly because of this |
I pray we get it right this summer. I don't care who stays or come in as long as we get it right. |
Zaha again? Hmmm, may be to start from somewhere. ![]() |
Jose Mourinho says "nice guy" football managers can end up becoming a "puppet" at their club. The former Manchester United manager was sacked in December and replaced by interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before the Norwegian's appointment was made permanent three months later. "I don't want to be the nice guy," Mourinho told L'Equipe. "Because the nice guy, after three months, is a puppet and that doesn't end well." He added: "When you are almost alone, in that you don't have the support of the club close to you, while certain players go somewhat against the coach, who is the nice guy?" Former United striker Solskjaer, 46, enjoyed 10 wins in his first 11 games in charge at Old Trafford, but that form dipped dramatically after he took on the role long-term in March. The Old Trafford side won just two of their last nine league games and finished sixth in the table, outside the Champions League positions. Mourinho, who guided United to second in the league in 2017-18 season, insists that was his "greatest achievement" at the club and that now "people understand". In his interview with the French newspaper, he said: "When I say that the second season was fantastic, I say it because the potential and the objectives were met. "I really squeezed, like an orange, to achieve them." The 56-year-old Portuguese coach also says the "organisation and ambition" at Old Trafford are part of the club's problems, and that the difficulties did not lie solely with players such as France midfielder Paul Pogba. Former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss Mourinho and the 26-year-old World Cup winner were regularly reported as having a strained relationship, which included a training ground spat at the start of this season. "The problems are there: you can say that these are the players, the organisation, the ambition," Mourinho said. "I only say that I cannot say 'yes' when you ask if Paul was the only one responsible." https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/48292160 |
It looks like Evra was saying we have average players except for DeGea and Pogba |
Leyqute:And so? |
Leyqute:I said Young is highly unpredictable on the left side. Means a defender or a marker will find it hard to stop Young because he can go both sides dangerously. He passes well on the left, goes forward well there, goes behind the defence line like Martial does and can cut back to whip the ball into the box targeting far post. |
Snappyfingaz:How do you know he will earn the exact minimum wage and how long do you think he will earn minimum wage based on his previous years of experience? The way my friends speak, I am not sure they are on minimum wage. Although some have been there for five years or more. You also forget he will not have to buy fuel for generator. Will not buy fake drugs and products, will not be exposed to much pollution. Etc. |
No wonder. Valencia and Young were in our full backs when we beat Liverpool last season. They successfully took out Mane and Salah. Ashley Young had the highest touches on our side sef. We finished what position last season? This is why I always call for gradual transition. Last season we finished second with 81 points, Matic (35 EPL starts), Lukaku (33), Valencia (31), Young (28), Smalling (28), had the highest starts. Pogba (25) was the next. Out of the above players, only Pogba was fit to start this season. And you can see where we ended. |
Ashley Young was praised by Manchester United fans for nullifying Mohamed Salah in Saturday’s victory over Liverpool at Old Trafford. Egyptian forward Salah has taken the Premier League by storm this season, scoring 24 goals in 27 games following his summer arrival from Roma. But the 25-year-old former Chelsea flop was kept quiet by United over the weekend, mustering just one shot on David De Gea’s goal as Liverpool were beaten 2-1. Jose Mourinho singled out Young as a key component in the victory and the 32-year-old full-back has responded to claims he ‘pocketed’ Salah at the Theatre of Dreams. In a social media post, Young posted a picture of himself training, with the caption: ‘Stop asking me! He’s not in my pocket, I swear he’s not.’ |

Lana1:Shaw did not pocket Messi either. Barca didn't just reach their potentials on the day, and it was all round. Young is highly unpredictable on the left. You forget so soon. Valencia makes up with huge hard work and covers not only his position, but also for the DM and CBs |
Itsmedozie:Salah this season is a shadow of Salah last season. |
