Nigerian professional footballer Ahmed Musa has built an international standard school in Jos, Plateau State. The footballer announced the good news on his Instagram page as he shared photos of the mega school.

Ahmed Musa dedicated the school to his parents, Mr Musa and Mrs Sarah. The school was named after the couple, M & S International school.

“I’m proud to name it after my parents… Mr Musa & Mrs Sarah! M & S international school…. Now officially open Alhamdulilah”.

Northern Nigeria has produced good Footballers in the past who have played for some of the biggest Clubs in the world but none of them have given back to the society like Ahmed Musa.

Ahmed Musa just commissioned an elaborate 3-In-1 school in Jos, Plateau State that included Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools. The Schools have adequate sitting furnitures and well equipped with Teaching Aids.

Dear Friends, I am passionate about Education because the region I came from, Northern Nigeria, is the most backward region Educationally with more than 10 million Out-of-school Children, the highest in the world.

I celebrate whoever build classrooms to improve the Education sector of the North. Having such a massive children Out-of-school is an unimaginable catastrophe that has an untold consequences for our society. Today I celebrate a Nigerian Citizen, a rising star who is just 15 years old, Miss Faith Odunsi, a pupil of The Ambassadors Schools, Ota, Ogun State, who recently won the Global Open Mathematics Tournament, an international competition with participants from Europe, Africa, America, Asia and Australia.

She won the competition with a margin of 30 points. Can you imagine this?

Most people think Mathematics is a difficult subject, I do not think so because Mathematics is my best subject since Primary School. I received a Tea Cup as a prize for been the best Student in Mathematics in Primary School in 1982. My late Father was very happy. In 1988 when I wrote the first 6-years Secondary School WAEC, I brought the question paper home and asked my elder brother, Muhammad, to mark. He marked it and told me I failed 2 questions out of 50 questions. I cried, why did I failed 2 questions? The only subject that I was better that my brilliant elder brother who is a genius was Mathematics. He scored A2 in the WAEC of 1986 and I scored A1 in the WAEC of 1988. Both at Government College Kaduna (GCK).

Let us return to this Mathematics genius Miss Faith Odunsi who is better than me. The fact that she is schooling in Nigeria makes her historic victory pleasing. I never believe that because we are Blacks then we are inferior to any race. Faith Odunsi just proved this assertion.

Inference:

Nigeria has brilliant, creative and intelligent people like China, India and Iran. Our major problem in Nigeria is the extremely bad leadership. This is our 'natural disasters'. We do not experience earthquakes but we have leaders like #Buhari that are worst than earthquakes. We have leaders that are extremely wicked and extremely corrupt, two dangerous combinations.

The judgement of the Court of Appeal of the freedom of the leader of the South East secessionist group IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, have many implications.

My hope is that the evil phenomenon of the Unknown Gunmen (UGM) will be eliminated and peace and security will return to the South East. The genocidal criminals that massacred hundreds of Igbo Youths should be reported to the International Criminal Court ICC.

An armed struggle in the South East will never defeat the Nigerian state. This failed woefully in 1967-70 and it will fail today. No world power will support Biafra today unlike in the past when France supported Biafra.

ASUU strike, University Tuition and the reality of the "reality"

This week, Sen. Chris Ngige (MoLEP) categorically stated that Universities must be given full autonomy; he meant that universities must be generating enough revenues for their operations. He lamented that ASUU always makes demands to the FG, and when government intends to increase school fees ASUU resists and goes on strike. He finally vowed and pledged to push for the introduction of tuition in the public universities before the end of their tenure (next year). What it means is that, university councils will be empowered to generate enough money for running their respective universities. This, if actualized, will likely be extended to all other public tertiary institutions in the country (colleges, polytechnic, etc), otherwise they become comatose, because government will no longer fund them as well.

Some experts here and elsewhere, argue that Ngige was right, that ASUU won't eat its cake and still have it; the universities shouldn't claim autonomy in expenditure but be dependent on government when it comes to revenue (which is the status quo). Some even argue that it is no longer feasible for FGN to continue funding tertiary education in the country; and they see it as the only "reality". Though I don't know how did they arrive at that reality (because Nigeria's budget now is in excess of N20 trillion, financing all sorts of silly things including free cash transfer, but it is only education expenditure that we cannot sustain), however, it is the reality of their suppose "reality" that I intend to analyse in this piece.

My analysis focuses solely on undergraduate programs because they constitute probably more than 80% of the University students and PG students have been paying in excess of N100 thousand as school fees (so won't be affected that much, after all PG study is one's prerogative, unlike UG).

My department has 27 academic staffers (10 are professors) and at least 5 non-teaching staff. Our annual salary alone (before deductions) will reach N110 million. This is a very modest estimate as I consider N500k as monthly remuneration for a professor before any deduction. The running of the Department, including consumables (sanitary, academic, utilities, administrative, etc), IT, repairs and maintenance, training, conference and seminar attendance, publications, stationary, among others, put together at N90 million per annum (this is also very conservative). So we can infer that my Department alone needs minimum of N200 million for effective running. Remember, the cost of departmental businesses with other departments, faculty and the University are not included. Equally, no capital project is included.

Now, the department has maximum of 1000 students. For them to cover only the departmental recurrent cost they need to pay N200,000 each. In addition, they will contribute to the running of the faculty and the University, including clinic, sports, library, hostels, IT centres, laboratories, and the salary/allowances of the central authorities in the University, including the allowances of the council members, among others. Of course, this is if we assume zero contribution from the Federal Government, as this is the full autonomy Ngige calls for. Though he talked about grants and endowments, but I believe those are only sufficient for settlement of electricity bills if at all they can cater. Moreover, endowments, investiture and grants are mostly given by the donors for specific purposes, like prizes, researches and specific buildings; they are not meant for day-to-day operations of the beneficiary.
Now, the reality of the "reality"

Those seeing the scenario depicted above as the reality should ponder on the subsequent realities that will inevitably follow:
1. Many students will withdraw from university because they can't afford the tuition. If 50% withdraw for example, that means the remaining 50% will pay N400,000 each to run my department alone, which I am very sure another 50% of them cannot afford. Then more will have to give up, till only the sons of the "rich" will remain (may be 100 students paying N2 million each to run the department).
2. Many programs/departments will close because no student will be willing to patronize them at those rates. I don't want to mention names because I believe any knowledge is essential, but we certainly know that some departments will not get any student at that rate. I read so many reports of some programs closed down in some Western universities because of low patronage. Hence, we'll not have experts in those fields henceforth. Ponder on this; do you know of any private university in Nigeria offering degrees in Nigerian Languages? This is exactly what will happen to the commercialized public universities, without any prejudice to those programs.
3. Lecturers in the closed departments will loose their jobs. Also of the surviving departments, only the necessary number of staff will be retained for efficiency. Meaning, lecturers will have to go and look for jobs elsewhere. Indeed, there won't be any job security in the system. In fact, we may reach a point where an entire university will be closed especially in those states with more than one public universities.
4. Courses that are considered lucrative, e.g. medicine and allied health Sciences and possibly Engineering, will only be pursued by those from wealthy background, who may not even be willing to practice what they learn after graduation, just like Ngige and Saraki. Thus, we will have paucity of manpower is such essential professions.
5. Think of the societal vices that will follow if the son of an ordinary man cannot attend school; when all he /she sees is a blinking future amidst the prosperous sons and daughters of the wealthy. Think of the chaos that will follow. I am not spelling doom, but only analysing the reality.
6. Above all, think of Nigeria when public universities are finally killed through neoliberal policies.

When I went through the more than one thousand person campaign list of the Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi, I saw Mr Ifeanyi Ezeagu as the state coordinate. I could believe that an Igbo man will head the campaign of a state that is 100% Hausa-Fulani. I brought my glasses to see if this is true and it is.

Bickering of #USA Vs The #AlSaud Dynasty

The historic close relationship between the US regime and the AlSaud rulers of #SaudiArabia is known to all. The US regime inherited the Saudi regime from the defunct British Empire.

Saudi Arabia is the biggest weapons buyer from USA as the overwhelming majority of Saudi weapons are Made in America. American military advisers are in thousands in Saudi Arabia.

Over the years the Saudi foreign policy was always created in Washington DC. The AlSaud dynasty has 100% allegiance to American imperialism until now. The question is what happened now ❓

I have been cracking my brain � as to what caused the recent Saudi regime rebellion to American imperialism and interest?

Let me start:

▪️When Russia sent soldiers to #Ukraine, the Saudi regime refused to condemned it. Very surprising...

▪️The Saudi regime and it Arab friends refused to impose sanctions on Russia. The UAE President is presently with Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

▪️After the Russian attacks on Ukraine, the Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman met with Russian President Putin.

▪️Just recently Saudi-led OPEC with Russian support decided to cut daily oil production by 2 million barrels.

The question is what happened ❓ I do not believe in coincidence when analyzing international politics and diplomacy. Something is definitely wrong somewhere.

The first thing that came to my mind was the Saudi failure in #Yemen. The AlSaud rulers of Saudi Arabia are partly blaming the US regime for this woeful failure. The Saudi regime just concluded that the US regime can not protect them from the rising power of the Iran-led Resistance Axis.

Another reason is the obvious decline of Western hegemony. The Saudi rulers have concluded that the American era has ended and other world power players like China and Russia have risen. Erdogan and Turkey also reached the same conclusion on this.

Is the Saudi rulers using Russia and massive cut in global oil production to extract concession from their American masters? Only time will tell....

On a final note, as a Muslim it is my hope that the umbilical cord that connect the AlSaud dynasty and the US regime is broken forever.

Northern Nigeria Should Wake Up From the Deep Slumber

I totally agree with the recent article of the former Minister of Youth and Sports, Honourable Solomon Dalong, titled "AREWA IS ASLEEP!!!".

To my Foreign Friends the word 'Arewa' means 'North' in Hausa Language.

Dear brother Solomon Dealing, if there is any slumber worst than sleep then that is the chronic disease the North is facing today. As I write ✍️ Northern Nigeria is the most backward region in the world in all indices of progress and development with more than 10 million Out-of-school Children, the highest in the world. And the extreme poverty capital of the whole world.

The biggest challenge of the backward North is the extreme wickedness, monstrous evilness and corruption of the Northern Oligarchy. Out of wickedness extraordinary, the ruling elites of the North deliberately refused to educate the children of the poor and the resultant effect of that extreme wickedness is the murderous armed banditry that we have today in the North. The Northern Oligarchy thinks that it is easier to control, manipulate and brainwash uneducated population than educated people. This notorious treasury looters failed to understand that denying education to children of the poor have unimaginable consequences.

As for the prevalence of hate mongering in Northern Nigeria the originators and purveyors of this hate are the Saudi-sponsored Wahhabis. The North was devoid of religious crisis before the advent of the hate-filled ideology of Wahhabism in the mid 70s. Wahhabi clerics brainwashed Sunnis that Christians are enemies of Muslims and the rest is history. The genocidal massacres of innocent Shia civilians in Nigeria by the Buhari regime was widely celebrated by the bloodthirsty Wahhabis. The Saudi king Salman was the only ruler that publicly celebrated the brutal and inhuman Zaria Massacre, the biggest massacre in the history of the Nigerian state. In April 2018, the Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman boasted to the American Times Magazine that they were behind the Zaria Massacre "to curtail the rising Iranian influence in Africa". Tyrant Buhari first stated this when he visited Qatar in 2016 after the Zaria Massacre.

The total lack of investment in the Agricultural sector is another monstrous evilness of the wicked Northern Oligarchy. The North is the Agricultural capital of Nigeria but unfortunately our Farmers are still using the farming implements that our ancestors used 300 years ago. In this 21st century the North is still transporting daily thousands of life cattles to the South.

Again on the educational backwardness of the North, no state have billionaires like Kano State. The riches Black man on earth, @AlikoDangote, is from Kano State. Despite this Kano State has the highest number of Out-of-school Children in Nigeria with more than one million children that are not in school. I once dragged the Kano billionaires for doing absolutely nothing to get these children of the poor to classrooms. If I may ask how many classrooms did these Kano billionaires build in the past 20 years? NOTHING!!!

Building a Refinery is a huge investment that every society dream of having. When Dangote wanted to build a Refinery he took it to Lagos state, a non-oil producing state like his Kano State. Can you imagine this historic foolishness? How many job opportunities will a Refinery creates directly and indirectly? And how much tax will go to the state government yearly?

On a final note, the backward North need to wake up from this deep slumber. The North is totally backward and this is the Truth, the whole Truth and nothing but the Truth.
