*FAILED DEMOCRACY THREATENING THE SAHEL REGION WITH COUPS*

In the past four years, there have only been a maximum of four political coups in the West African region. Three nations, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Guinea, all experienced coups during this period; Guinea Bissau only managed to survive one. In the past nine months, there have been two of these coups in Burkina Faso alone. The main defence offered for these coups was that the democratically elected administration had let the people down. Since 1960, every coup that has taken place in the region has done so against a backdrop of failing democracy. But as the organizers of the military coup suggested, has democracy failed the people?

The main issue is that political leaders in many polarized parts of west Africa have not been able to use democracy to provide the dividend that would raise the people's living standards out of poverty. Democracy has frequently been viewed as a political employment opportunity for cronies who profit and establish long-lasting syndicates that only benefit a select few. The rest of the population is left in desperate need of necessities and is consequently exposed to insecurity and other types of human rights abuses since these political elements continue to make decisions that serve their interests.

Regrettably, few administrations in the region had been able to move their nation from developing to developed status. Because of low-income earners, ordinary citizens struggle with poverty, inadequate sanitation, and housing issues. Despite being viewed as the only method for distributing resources evenly, democracy has been defined by West African leaders as "interest politics," in which a small number of people create a system and allow it to serve their interests. The actual issue is that politicians consistently participate in politics of mediocrity, propaganda, and lip service rather than establishing a consensus to grow the country. They have filled democratic institutions that should act independently to maintain balance with their political allies, who continue to keep these institutions unbalanced to allow the syndicate the flourish.

Even though military coups had not lived up to expectations, frequent meddling in democratic institutions shows that most of these nations' democracies are still in their early stages of development. Even in nations where stability has been maintained for a longer period, problems with poverty, violations of human rights, and failing institutions beckon for improvement. Another covert technique to stifle the growth of democracy is the former colonial powers' creeping foreign policy into the sub-region. These foreign actors prey on leaders' weaknesses and pull the invisible rope to exert excessive control over resources. Together, these issues have resulted in low democratic dividends, and the subregional hostility that led to the coup was exacerbated by them.

There must be a chance that the recent unrest will spread to other West African nations that may be dealing with the same problems or circumstances that caused the upheaval. To achieve true development and avoid further erosion of democracy among its member nations, the regional bloc (ECOWAS) must step up its game and start deepening its democratic norms

*7 Years Anniversary of the Zaria Genocide*

Under the Islamic Calendar we mark today the 7 years anniversary of the genocidal massacre of more than one thousand innocent Shia civilians in Zaria in December 2015 by the Nigerian army.

In all the Shia Hussainiyas, the end of the month of Safar and beginning of the month of Rabiul Awwal is marked with change of Flag ceremony. The Black Flag of mourning the beloved Grandson of Prophet Muhammad (sa), Imam Hussein (as), is dropped and the Green Flag of celebrating the Birthday Anniversary of the Prophet (sa) is raised. Thousands of Followers of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H), from as far as Niger Republic, Chad and Cameroon gathered in December 2015 in the iconic Zaria Hussainiya for the Flag changing ceremony.

The Nigerian army using the pretext of road blockade of the then army chief Tukur Buratai, a minor traffic offence, perpetrated the biggest massacre in the history of the Nigerian state. Before the Zaria Massacre, the Asaba Massacre of 1967 at the start of the Nigerian civil war (1967-70) was the biggest massacre. While Colonel Murtala Mohammed and Ibrahim Taiwo spared women and children in the Asaba Massacre, Tyrant Buhari, Elrufai, Buratai and gang murdered hundreds of women, children and infants during the Zaria Massacre. In fact the vast majority of victims of the Zaria Massacre were Youths, children and infants.

What happened in Zaria between 12th - 14th December, 2015, is not only a massacre but the genocidal elimination of Shia Muslims from Nigeria. The Nigerian army shot Shia women and girls in their private parts and stabbed their breasts with riffle bayonet chanting "No Shia in Nigeria!". Majority of them died but there are Survivors. Nigerians will never forget the provocative words of Tukur Buratai that ushered in the genocidal massacre in Zaria: "Shiites want to assassinate me". The word "Shiites" was deliberately used to demonized one of the two wings of Islam (Sunni & Shia). The iconic Zaria Hussainiya was a Shia religious site. Under the Rome Status of the International Criminal Court, ICC, bombing and killing Worshippers at any religious site is a war crime. The Tukur Buratai led Nigerian army bombed the Zaria Hussainiya and killed all the Shia Worshippers inside.

Immediately after the brutal and inhuman Zaria Massacre, the #FreeZakzaky campaign committee successfully reported the genocidal massacre to the International Criminal Court, ICC. Witnesses were presented and highlights of the heinous war crimes perpetrated by the Nigerian army presented. The ICC conducted an indepth investigation and concluded that heinous crimes against humanity were perpetrated by the Nigerian army in Zaria. The hundreds of families of victims of the genocide are still waiting for Justice and the remains of their loved ones.

It is important to note that the genocidal Buhari regime perpetrated two other massacres against the Movement in Kano Arbaeen Walk of 2016 and the Abuja Shia massacre of 2018. According to the New York Times investigation, the Nigerian army used battlefield weapons against unarmed Shia civilians. Dozens of Shia Mourners on religious gatherings were murdered by the Nigerian army. More than 170 peaceful Free Sheikh Zakzaky protesters were brutally murdered on Nigerian streets by the Nigerian army and police, the highest is in Kaduna State.

The monstrous evilness, savagery and barbarism of the genocidal Buhari regime did not stop with the mass murder of innocent and defenseless Shia civilians, it includes extreme persecution. The regime fabricated fraudulent trump-up charges against Survivors of the Zaria Massacre and peaceful Free Sheikh Zakzaky protesters to let them in dilapidated prisons for more than 3, 4 and 5 years. Courts free all of them. As I write ✍️ there are 60 Youths of the Movement in Abuja Kuje prison fraudulently accused for the death of a Journalist in 2019. The UN Official that was in Nigeria then publicly accused the police of killing the Journalist.

On a final note, we call on the International Criminal Court, ICC, to prosecute the genocidal criminals who executed the Zaria Massacre. The massacre in Zaria was a crime of the century that must not go unpublished. Our heartfelt condolences to Imam Mahdi (ajf) for this great loss of innocent lives, Allah give the families the fortitude to bear the loss of their loved ones.

There’s nothing abnormal going on in Beijing. The city is getting ready for the Communist Party Congress on October 16. So it has tightened already serious security controls, coupled with the Covid policies (which one may strongly disagree with, but that’s another story).

Heavy security is the norm in Beijing on the eve of the October 1st Chinese National Day - and then the Communist Party Congress.

Moreover, fake news “experts” know nothing about China’s political power structure.

We have the Party, the State, and the Army. The party leader is the Communist Party General Secretary. The state leader is the President. And the leader of the Army is the Chairman of the Military Commission.

All these three powers are in the hands of Xi Jinping.

The Army in China is controlled by the Communist Party, NOT the state. That’s why it’s called "People's Liberation Army”, and not "Chinese Army”. It is led by the Chairman of the Central Military Commission - and NOT a Minister of Defense or a commander-in-chief of the military.

Tyrant Buhari requested a meeting with the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi at the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. I do not know if the meeting took place. President Raisi is a Revolutionary. Raisi is not Rouhani. Rouhani was on friendly terms with Buhari while Raisi is not.

The assurances that Rouhani gave Tyrant Buhari will not be repeated by Raisi. Unfortunately, this assurances emboldened the genocidal criminals in power in Nigeria. Only Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky will decide the future of the Movement and Justice for victims of the Saudi-funded #ShiaGenocide agenda in Nigeria. Sheikh Zakzaky is not anybody puppet, he is a leader of millions of men and women.

The Nigerian state must return the pure remains of all the genocidal massacres perpetrated by the genocidal Buhari regime to their loved ones for proper Islamic burial. The healing process will only start when this is done. The multiple Shia mass graves in Kaduna and Kano states will be unearth one day.

The next Nigerian government will table the issue of reconciliation like the Oputa panel. Friday Reflection: You Can Never Please Western Hegemony

Hegemony is defined as the political, economic, cultural and military predominance of one state over other states. In Ancient Greece (8th c. BC – AD 6th c.), hegemony denoted the politico-military dominance of the hegemon city-state over other city-states.

Western hegemony is the quest of the predominance of Western powers over other nations of the world. For the past 300 years, more than 95% of all the genocides perpetrated in the world were by Western powers. And the main reason of this is the establishment of Western domination to facilitate the plunder of the rich resources of other countries. The British Empire looted more than 45 trillion dollars from India alone. How much did the British colonialists looted from around the world? Out of the 160+ countries of the world, the British Empire has invaded all with the exception of 25 countries.

As a student of history I discovered that it is impossible to satisfy and please the Western hegemonic barbarians. This is an extremely greedy lots and extremely arrogant. I will present Turkey as a case study.

On 14 April 1987, Turkey submitted its application for formal membership into the European Economic Community (EU). This is more than 35 years but until now that application is on standby. The main and only reason for rejecting Turkey's EU membership is because Turkey is a Muslim majority country.

This is despite the fact that Turkey has done everything humanly possible to satisfy and please the genocidal imperialist barbarians of the West.

� Turkey was the first Muslim majority country to recognize the Israeli entity in 1949.

� Turkey joined the Northern Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), a military gang up and alliance of Western powers.

� Turkey banned the Hijab in government offices as a Muslim majority country.

� Turkey changed it alphabet. The Ottoman Turkish script was replaced by the Latin-based new Turkish alphabet. Its use became compulsory in all public communications in 1929.

� The Turkish state abandoned the Islamic norms, values and standards inherited from the Ottoman Empire that once dominated the world and adopted the Western norms, values and standards.

Dear Friends, despite all these compromised slavery of Turkey to Western civilization and domination, the European powers refused to accept Turkey's EU membership.

Lest I Forget! Recently the Turkish leadership decided to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) that has China, Russia and India as members. The German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was very angry when he met Erdogan in New York.

“I'm very irritated about this development,” Scholz told journalists in New York following his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The chancellor said he believed the SCO was “not an organization delivering an important contribution to a good global coexistence.” 

On a final note, I have never wasted my time trying to please the Western hegemony. Doing such thing is a collosal waste of time frame. And time is important.

And I replied him:

I support peaceful protest in any part of the world but strongly condemned violent rioters. What happened in #Iran is not peaceful protest against police brutality. Those violent rioters are murderous criminals and paid agents of the Western hegemonic barbarians.

It is a duty of the Iranian security forces to restore normalcy, the rule of law and bring those murderous violent rioters backed by the arrogant and violent West to justice. Demanding to end police brutality is not equal to the murder of innocent civilians and burning Mosque.

Their Western masters are the most violent barbarians to come out of human existence. The videos of the violent rioters in Iran is available. Peaceful protest is a right in Iran unlike in the Western colony of Saudi Arabia but no responsible society will tolerate violent rioters.
