And by the way, I DID NOT SAY JONATHAN "DID" NO ROADS, or any other stuff, he did a lot. I only asked which government didn't. And like I said, I was a GEJite BEFORE @ Here2BustnScrew, and I still believe Buhari ain't no angel, but still, the demon of headache is better than the angel of death. |
LNRZH:Nigeria is a nation of millions of people "nobody knows", and a few thousand "relevant" people. But I assure you my friend, you keep your "relevant" people, while we "irrelevant" ones make our choice too, and we'll see who wins the elections. |
I was discussing with some friends the other day, and I told them of just how badly I don't want Buhari to be our president. I also told them though, how even more baldy I don't want Jonathan to continue. I was an avid GEJite, and I'd oppose any anti-GEJite I got to talk with. But that was a month or two ago. Now more recently, I've been thinking quite clearly without any preconceived dispositions, and I realise the corruption is at its peak at this moment in time. For God's sake Sanusi claimed 20 billion dollars was stolen from us. The tallest building in the world, the Bujh Kalipha took 15 billion to construct. And what did Mr president say? "America will know". This guys steal and actually tell us about it. EFCC has suddenly stopped arresting politicians who are corrupt and have stolen Billions, why, because all our politicians fit that boot. And worst of all, we ain't getting enough money in circulation no more. And they tell us about completing roads and bridges! Which government in Nigerian recent history did not complete roads and bridges. The Naira has been devalued so much... I mean, all these in the last few months before the election. In the Normal dimwitted Nigerian electioneering procession, the last few months before the elections were months when the government tries to get the favour of the people by bribing them and blinding them with strangely regular salaries, unsolicited allowances, water taps sprouting everywhere accompanied by signs of who did it, roads they've never touched getting tarred (which strangely never last till the next election when they'd need to be re-tarred), and other guileful "gifts". The time of a windfall that will only fall again in four years. But this year, our president as seen to it that the only windfall happening are dry leaves and nothing more, more posters maybe. Gej to me is a good person but an horrible president. The PDP has had more than enough its share of the wealth that should have been ours. Let Buhari and co come eat theirs and leave in four years, and you never know, the windfall days may return. What do you say people? |
Falling, flying, faltering into a puddle Their beauty never to be seen again, never Coursing gloriously to the ground, to the dust Melting under the hand of a red, burning star Born with poetry, flying with grace Handwork designs of the finest designer Blowing in a song of storm or sweet breeze Born of beauty, made of liquid glass, sky clear Falling as they fly, gathering on the dust And then into it, gathering and breaking Smiles turn into bitter frowns A teardrop, a cold drink to the earth gratefully swallowing Beauty lasts no longer than a snowflake A snowflake lasts no longer than beauty A good song always too short, too brief A bad one always too long, too lengthy So whilst the good song lasts While the snowflake is still a wonder at less than best Let us smile, let us fly while we have wings Let our beauty and brightness shine its brightest |
GenBuhari:Really? He is a servant leader? He's waiting in the wings like a bird of prey I'm sure. |
Day169:Redemption from what? And into what? From frying pan to boiling water abi? |
The PDP and Prez Jona are very corrupt and and Jona has been criticised for being incompetent. But even though I don't think too positively of bros Jona, I want to know why I should think any better of Buhari. OBJ was competent ( I guess), but many Nigerians including me do not think he was a great president. Questions abound. How will Buhari rid us of Boko Haram? What exactly will he do to alleviate poverty and reduce unemployment? What will he do to make us more secure? Our standard of living, how will he raise it? How will he strengthen the naira? Lastly and most importantly, WILL HE DO ALL THIS? history and the current state of Nigerian politics tell us NO. And no come tell me say APC is different. Aregbesola called his government 'unusual', little good it is doing us in osun state now. |
egift:But then, if Buhari promises these, give me one good reason to actually believe he doesn't cross his fingers when he says it. He has ruled us before and if his tenure cannot be remembered for honesty, transparency, and zero corruption, why should we expect them now? And in what position are Buhari lovers and the APC to tell us about not being corrupt? |
Safari29:Nice prospects. If Buhari is promising this, it reminds me of two things. 1, all previous presidents and governors have made the same promises, and 2,promise and fail. |
fiverrwin:Good point. Works for all previous presidents and heads of states too. And who says not the next? |
People have reasons for doing things. Personal interest, religious dispositions, the effect of others, the allure of the choice, and even risk (when you're between the devil and the deep blue sea, and you choose the sea because it may be more merciful, forgetting the devil can swim too.) So, some people have made up their minds that come 2015,they'll be voting for Buhari. For several reasons, or none other than that he is not Jonathan, or that he is Muslim, or that he is not gay (are we sure about this?),or that he has a beard. All these are personal factors, and have no virtue in the art of ruling Nigeria. They do have the power of influencing personal choices of the electorate, and the electorate vote, I guess. But what are the political and functional reasons you would choose him over Prez Jona? He is no stranger to the position, he's ruled us before. Whether that tenure can be considered a success I do not know. So, why do you want to vote for Buhari? State them and let's all reason together. His party? His running mate? (vice presidents are really figureheads, keep that in mind) |
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears.. In my sleep a figure appeared before me, and its form shook the very frame of my little body. As I slept an image appeared before my eyes, and its gruesomeness harrowed my soul. In my visions of the night, I saw flesh. Human flesh, scattered about a building familiar to me - it was the figure of a church in my home town. But as I inquired, a voice told me that the area I stood in is a university campus, one familiar to me. It is a university in southwestern Nigeria. As I beheld the carnage, terror sized me. From then on, it was confusion and carnage. As I type this now, the dream seams fleeting from my memory, but I can still remember seeing more destruction of lives, soldiers, blood and butchery, manhunts, and more and more carnage. I saw people gathered up in a building and butchered. I saw flesh charred like wood. I saw things I've never seen in reality, and I hope I never witness. As I awoke from my slumber, it seemed like I just passed, nay, escaped, through a portal from one world to another. Pains coursing through my head and body told of the trauma my body went through in my disturbed sleep. I found myself thanking God that the vision is no more than a dream of the night. Then, as I sat up, setting about shaking off the trauma that embattled my senses, I thought, could it be possible that the heavens with this dream do warn me of things to come? Could it be just a dream, a trifling convention of the mind? I am no prophet, and most of my dreams do not come true. I hope this one is one of them.I earnestly hope. But what, what if ,and heavens forbid,It is replicated in reality?I cannot bear to think upon this possibility without finding the need for prayer, and I hope you do join me in praying for yourselves, your friends, your parents, your wives, your children your brothers and sisters, your associates, and all those who are worth more than a dime to you. Alternatively, you could ignore this, advice others to do the same, and give me titles like liar and attention seeker. It won't matter- if. I'm making this up, or it is just a foolish dream. But if not, if it is no foolish dream, then, God be with you ( that's even if you believe in him). I recognise the fact that this seems very much made up, even to me, but I assure you it isn't. Pray Nigeria. Pray! Pray! Pray! |
Reading through the thoughts of the OP as expressed on this thread, I can only deduce these things ;that the OP is at best a combative listener, that he is a language analyst who is not doing a great job at defining his status, and that he is a good Nigerian with a desire for improvements in Nigerian journalism and world outlook. While it would be grossly inappropriate to crucify him for his efforts, and dismiss his thoughts as irrelevant to the Nigerian society and it's use of language, it would be equally inappropriate to praise him for services rendered. He has expressed his thoughts, and we should be grateful some people are still thinking (considering Nigerian politicians). A lecturer at the department of English in my alma mater once said this ; you have nothing to teach the English about English, so you can not be important trying to. The only thing you can teach them is what isn't their's. |
Today, as I took a seat in the church, and then rose to join in worshipping the farther above, I realised that after just above Five hours of rest after a really gruelling day, and the cruel harshness of the week's activities, I was breaking down-spirit, soul, and body. My head swayed weightlessly, my entire form was troubled, my spirit was weighed down with the shadow of anxiety cast by the grim figure of the anticipation of the new week's demands. So I sat, took a pen and scribbled on paper, and was afterwards refreshed. It may not satisfy your desire for beautiful poetry, but for me, it is relieving. POETRY FROM A TIRED SOUL Weakly strengthened, totally torn Tired from struggle hither I come Tired of struggling, loathe to fight Here I come into thy light Out of a journey, hither I come As a lone nomad, worn to the tongue Even as a lone wanderer, thoroughly baffled As a lone soldier, by fierce fiends embattled Journeying thru the length of a week Dost make the soul despair and spirit weak Each battle of seven days' end Dost make faith waiver, and courage bend Torn from battle, torn all through Still barely breathing , that much true The grim reaper's pitchfork through me has seared Yet into thy life-giving light my body I bear The tiring battle is not over, nay, not won The journey is not ended, the long walk not done The long war started not too long ago The win is still far, yet a long way to go The war's end is tenfold farther than when it started The road behind tenfold shorter than the way ahead Yet I know that the war I must win Yea, I know the destination is my destiny So I rise to face the next battle I rise to scale the next hurdle As I shall rise again to face another next And each time fall into thy sheltered rest And as I sheath my sword, and gird my loins I look ahead, and then gaze on thee in the heavens I ask the same question as when hurdles I began to scale ,and danger to brave "what yet must I do to be saved? " And I know I shall the same response hear Of a surety, thine faithful answer shall fill mine hear From beyond the dark clouds thy voice will call to me and say " thou man of clay My grace is enough, only trust and obey " ' come unto me all ye that are heavy laden, and I shall give you rest'-Yeshua kristos Xheonelfaez. |
Just saw this on Fb. A Nigerian, an American and a German boarded a plane. As the plane was flying over the sea satan came out and said to them: "I want you to drop something into the sea, if i find it you die,but if i don't,you live". The American quickly plucked a button from his shirt and threw it into the sea, satan dived into the sea and came up with the button. ''see!'' he said and killed the American. The German threw a pin into the sea, satan dived and came out with the pin. ''See!'' he said and killed the German. The Nigerian brought out a pure water sachet, opened it and poured the content into the sea holding back the sachet. He said to Satan, ''Oya begin find water inside water...Idiot'' |

MykLANNY: Yes.. Since last month. Bt has manchester united winning start? No... Maybe next year.. Has manchester united doom come? Cant really say bt i tink there is still more Leiseter City to comeThey better pray last season is not repeated, or worse! |
When Luis van gaal said Manchester United's season starts after their win against league bottom QPR, many United fans surely cheered and agreed. This red season has started, and they're not cheering no more. Losing 5–3 against Leicester is no laughing matter. It points to a fairly strong attack, and a weak defence. So if this team were to face a top team with a strong defence and a strong attack, like Manchester city, or, more scaring an up-to-standard playing chelsea, it might be the chance to stretch the record books. And that fixture is only two league matches away! So, has man United's season started, or they just awoke.. Into the dead? |
And I say it once more
|
I'll say it again

Just trying to modify into a drama-esque and poetise the Biblical incident in which the Sea is troubled, and Jesus and his disciples were in the middle of the sea in the middle of the hullabaloo and pandemonium... ( middle of the..... Sea. The calm of the sea is shattered by a sudden, strange storm. The evening fades into an oppressive dark night, as frequent thunderous lightning rend the pitch dark sky continously. The disciples are thrown into confusion and an awareness of impending doom) Peter : a'oar! a'oar! Get a'starboard Andrew Or this day thou shall rue. James to the lines! Three to larboard align Andrew :Aye! Aye! I go. (slips and somersaults, landing on his buttocks) Peter ; oh no shall we perish! Our strength we needs replenish. We cannot survive this evil swing, the boat leaps like it has wings. But nay, I shall shall hold the mast, the time to weep is past. Bartolomew ; oh we labour in vain. Seawater smells in my veins. (seawater splashes into the boat, and he takes it full in the face, swallowing a large gulp)Ah, a drink of water is always welcome. You just can't get enough. Oh sea, another drink please? Peter ; that doesn't rhyme! Do you want people to be bored? You'll drink more than you need if you do not get a'starboard, the sea entertains with an inexhaustible jug o' brine. Hey John pass the wine! John the beloved ;but shall Gabriel not give us more wine than this? Just wait, tis only a moment till the we enter the master's cas'le o' peace Peter :but where is the master? Matthew :Behold, he lieth by the boxes old. Master! Rise and do not dally! Else we perish, in this seastorm rally. The waters rise up above our heads, the winds rage violent, drawing us to the seabed. Oh save, good master, arise from thine slumber, for the creatures of the deep gather to dinner! Peter ;(aside to Matthew) nice rhyme bro. I hereby name you of rank SENIOR SAILOR OF THE SEA. We'll celebrate this at the dining all beneath the life-giving tree. (The master arouses slowly, and gets into a sitting position) The master : oh what blissful rocking The sea giveth, like a mother gives her suckling Oh let it continue, that I might get The best of hard work's rest But who arouse me from mine slumber Tell me, which of you is dumber? Me have ye from a sweet dream awoke A dream of apples, and a shade of oak. Tell me what troubleth ye, I list'n For I am with you in all seasons Peter ;the sea rages and you dream of apples and trees, Care thee not that we perish? The master : well, have you not oars? Peter : oh give me wings and I shall fly But give me oars and I shall die! Save us oh master, save! The master ; I can't die , mine hour is not come The disciples ;what of us whose time any time can come? The master ; yeah yeah whatever... (faces the storm) Peace, be still! (there is a sudden calm, the sea ceases to be troubled, and the sun rises in the horizon) Are you happy now? Ye whose faith to fear bows Who from the apex of assurance high Sink deep into despair. (the disciples all sink to their knees) Disciples: forgive us master, and thank you, Our lives you have given us anew Teach us to fear nothing, And bend to nothing, Yeah, we shall fear nothing, not even death When it opens it jaws, and breathe a fiery breath. Please, for anyone who is, or who will be in the state once of the living spring, make sure you lay low, especially with whatever you say. A strange look and a loud tongue are all you need to get in trouble o. People are watching and listening.. If you get my meaning |
goalburner: Abeg Op keep d update rolling. dem dey carry us go there tomao, I nid to know d state of security thereWait a sec, you're being carried there For the elections? |
Seyilome: pixI'm being told machetes were used too. The pic seems to confirm that. Which area was that gan? |
Seyilome: pixNow, someone said something about nothing happening... |
Donmarrius: Please, does this in anyway or manner, potray the sophistication, which our SW brothers 'arrogantly arrogate' to themselves?.I do not quite understand your idea(s) of sophistication as proposed in your arguments. But from what I can deduce, you have a seriously 'tribalised' view of the Yorubas - your brothers to the southwest. Making blanket attacks on a tribe as compound as the Yorubas isn't advisable for any analyst of social and mental states. But know this, the yoruba people are a people more humane than any other in the ex-colony of the British known as Nigeria. Sure there are those who are nothing short of senseless and barbaric, but they are so few any case of cruelty makes front pages. The yoruba people are actually very much hospitable, amiable sensible and sensitive, and very much sophisticated. But they seem to take little pride in being all over the place, so those who do are widely popular, unlike tribes where everyone is the same attention seeker. |
argon500: Is this eye witness news?Yea. Wouldn't use the word 'eyewitness' to describe my position though, cos I had to stay indoors. Else I'll end up like a guy who's been beaten up for saying something wrong, a single clause actually |
